The brown she-cat couldn't help the smile that crawled it's way onto her face, kits are just so cute! "Hello, Tawnykit. You've gotten so big, it won't be too long now before you're apprenticed, huh?"

"You must be so excited! I'm sure the other apprentices would love the company. In fact," Bloodfang leaned closer to the kit, as if about to tell her a secret. "Just between us, I think Stormpaw could use a friend like you."

"Really! He may act mean, but he's soft as a feather and twice as gentle. I think having such a peppy kit like you around would do him some good!" The warrior purred in reply. In truth, she was worried for the young tom not having any friends, and she thought Tawnykit may be able to get through to him.

"I'm sure you could! Maybe when you get apprenticed, Cinderstorm and your mentor might let the two of you train together. Or perhaps a group training with Silentpaw, since he's closer to your age." Bloodfang's whiskers twitch as she can't help but get excited for the kit's apprenticeship as well. "I can't wait to see what kind of warrior you'll become."

"Sounds fierce, any cat would think twice about messing with you." She nudged the kit in a playful manner. "Maybe someday cats will greet you as Tawnystar."

"Very true, one pawstep at a time." Bloodfang purred, lowering her voice to a whisper as she seemed to speak to herself after. "You should enjoy your kithood while it lasts."

"Good." She gave the kit a friendly, affectionate lick. After Tawnykit's mother joined Starclan, Bloodfang had done her best to be there for the young kit, sometimes wishing the little cat was her own daughter.

(So do I! I think Bloodfang has unofficially adopted Tawnykit at this point. (And I may or may not be sketching a 5-minute joke comic about these two...))

"Say, that fern can't be all that good for practice..." Bloodfang lightly leapt a small distance further from Tawnykit. "Why don't you try to catch me, instead?"

Bloodfang kept light on her paws, hopping back whenever Tawnykit got close enough to catch her. "Come on, you almost caught me that time!" She meowed out encouragements to the kit.

Bloodfang kept up her dodging for a couple more moments, before slowing down and letting the kit get her. "You caught me! Good job, Tawnykit!"

"Could this be the start of..." Bloodfang gasped dramatically. "The fastest cat in Emberclan?!"

Bloodfang chuckled softly and gave Tawnykit another affectionate lick. "Keep up the good work... You'll be a great warrior one day, I just know it."

Spiderstar nodded. "Go for it, if it's something you want to do." He paused and looked around, tasting the air. It seemed they were in a good position, being downwind from whatever prey was in the air. He lowered himself and crept forward slowly. Once he could see the lizard. It seemed to be sunning itself, which meant it had only just gotten up and would be a while before it was warm enough to move very quickly. Still, best not to take chances. Close enough, he lunged and grabbed it by the throat, delivering a swift kill.

Cinderstorm mumbled something abut find Stormpaw and slipped away, letting out a sigh of relief. Although she'd initiated conversation with the kit, she wasn't sure where to go with it and was eager for a reason to leave. Bloodfang seemed to enjoy it anyways. Cinderstorm headed back into the den and headed towards Stormpaw's nest to see if her apprentice was awake yet.

"Oh, I do want to be a warrior!" Tawnykit replied quickly. "I just don't know if I could ever be a great one." She mewed, putting emphasis on the 'Great' bit.
