Amberpaw poked her head in the nursery once again. Obeying orders from Spiderleg that stated that Petalfur was in need of more prey, most likely due to being close to kitting, she had a plump mouse in her jaws. She wasn't the one to catch it, but she had to admit it was a lucky catch. "I brought this for you," she called as she entered the den. Seeing Petalfur's uncomfortable position, she frowned. "Is everything all right?" she asked softly, stepping forward. She set the mouse down in front of the queen, quickly sniffing for any signs of sickness. She breathed a sigh of relief as there was none - only the scent of a typical nursery. If Petalfur had caught the plague, BadgerClan would be doomed. Amberpaw noted the queen's size. Was it almost time for her to be kitting? She wondered if that was the case. Petalfur had been expecting ever since the ThunderClan cats met her. While BadgerClan was formed only a week ago, Amberpaw couldn't deny that Petalfur was not as slim as she was - with no disrespect.
Leaftail padded back into camp quietly, a couple of mice hanging from his jaws. Nothing more than an ordinary hunt, he simply brought prey back for the Clan to eat. He somewhat wished he could find a rabbit, but such pickings would be rarer than a StarClan cat in the new territory. Petalfur looked up, a bit surprised at Amberpaw's appearance, but then noticed the prey in her jaws. She managed a small smile at the apprentice,"I'm okay." She said, more for herself than for Amberpaw,"I think the kits are getting restless though." She said with a bit of an uncomfortable shift. It wasn't unsurprising, how that she allowed herself to think about the feeling, that as she approached the arrival of her kits, she'd feel a bit different than she usually did. She mentally sighed and took the prey Amberpaw had bought her with a purr of thanks. After her kits were born, she thought to herself, that was it. No more kits. She didn't think she could handle much more of sitting in the Nursery by herself, and without Mallownose....it just wouldnt be the same.

@battlingfear
He felt relief flutter through his chest at her approval. He had been worried that she'd reject him, since she was RiverClan and he was once ThunderClan. To him, of course, old alliances didn't matter. They all belonged to one Clan, and he liked to think of it that way. The old Clans were dead, so they didn't matter any more. The lake Clans' time had come to an end. It was sad and unfortunate, yes, but now it was time for BadgerClan to shine.
And shine it would.
He made a bit of a face at the mentioning of herbs. Did they really need them that badly? The Moonpool wasn't that far away, was it? Sure, he had to go on an empty stomach, but still. He'd gone hungry before. He didn't take herbs to help with that then. Why did he need herbs now?
He didn't bother arguing with her, however. He knew from experience that arguing with a medicine cat was useless. They could be the most gentle, caring cat in the world, yet they would always stick behind their statements. They were the only cats who could boss a leader around, anyways. He never recalled a time when Firestar or Bramblestar went against the wishes of their medicine cats. He supposed it did happen from time to time, but he'd never seen it in his lifetime. At least as much as he could remember.
He nodded as she told him to tell her when he was ready to leave. "I'll do that. Thank you, Willowshine."
Turning, he padded out of the den. Now what? Help with the apprentices' den? Train Amberpaw? Organize patrols? There were so many things to do, and so little time.

"Well." Amberpaw couldn't help but smile in response to Petalfur. "Perhaps they're ready to start being warriors." Or medicine cats, she added to herself. She couldn't forget that Willowshine was their only medicine cat. Surely StarClan could have spared another? Jayfeather practically worked himself to death - Leafpool too. She could only assume that the same happened to Littlecloud, Kestrelflight and Mothwing. That, or their status didn't save them from the plague. I suppose that we should be grateful for Willowshine's presence. Amberpaw thought. If we didn't have her, I could be dead already...
"I'll see you later." Amberpaw mewed to the queen. Beginning to leave, she added, "If you feel like something's wrong, tell Willowshine." she ordered, immediately feeling embarrassed. Hold on, Amberpaw. You're no warrior yet. You can't go ordering queens around because you survived a rogue attack. Ducking her head, she left the nursery. "Maybe Spiderleg needs me for something," she said out loud, blinking in confusion as she felt her pelt warm at the thought.

Petalfur dipped her head to Amberpaw before she left,"I will, Amberpaw." She said, amusement in her mew, before settling back down to rest. She liked the young apprentice, and was glad that she was the one who visited her to give her prey from the fresh-kill pile. She'd never thought she'd be grateful to a Thunderclan cat, but then again she never thought the clans could be so easily lost to them either, so she supposed that in Badgerclan's strange circumstance, that it was a normal sort of feeling. She laid her head on her paws, yawning widely, the werid feeling from before already gone from her mind as she settled into slumber.
After his talk with Amberpaw about the rouge attack, Weaselfur had left camp to go hunting. Instead of taking a normal route that lead deeper into the forest, the young tom decided to move north of the camp, in hopes of finding a more open space to hunt. He weaved through the thick underbrush of Badgerclan territory cautiously, keeping his ears perked in case he stumbled upon more than he bargined for, like the rouges for instance. He shirved at the mere thought of facing them alone, after what they had done Spiderleg and Amberpaw. With a little bounce, Weaselfur hopped onto a fallen tree, scenting the air curiously. He smelled a cat, and if he was right, it was a cat he knew. Casting his gaze around the bushes and trees around him, he looked for any sign of her. "Kinkfur?" He called out. She shouldn't be this far away from camp without someone with her, in fact she shouldn't be out of camp at all.

FrozenSpiderleg approached the fresh-kill pile, only to halt when he noticed its dismal state. A single thrush and two mice sat upon it. He felt a flash of irritation. It wasn't leaf-bare yet. Why was the pile so low? He probably knew. Laziness. The warriors of the Clan had probably gotten up, ran out to train or mope around in the forest, and completely neglected their duties. Save for Pinenose's patrol, of course, which only happened because it was ordered. Was he really going to have to tell these cats to hunt for themselves? Didn't they know any better? His gaze drifted over toward the apprentice's den. Sure enough, there was Scorchfur. The tom's paws worked quickly as he worked toward his goal. He hadn't hunted or patrolled recently. All of his time had been spent on the den. Still, Spiderleg didn't feel disappointed or angry with him for that. After all, he'd clearly been affected by the plague and the losses it caused more than any other cat. He was in a poor mental state, so Spiderleg was perfectly content to spare him from patrols. The other cats, however, had no excuse. They should be working their tails off, not feeling sorry for themselves and putting in 10%. If BadgerClan was going to survive, they needed the help of every cat. It couldn't fall to just a few; every cat had to pitch in, no matter what. Even if that was by working on a den, it had to be something. Otherwise, the entire Clan would crumble. Feeling irritated, Spiderleg directed his annoyance at the cat closest to him. "Harespring," he snapped. "Come over here."

(Hey guys. I haven't been on much lately, and I can't see it improving too much, as I've been working a lot and being a boring adult. I think I may have to drop out, as it's not fair to expect people to wait for me to reply, hold up a position, or just be absent throughout the plot.
I really enjoyed roleplaying here though; I felt challenged with my replies, as you are all so talented. I feel like I've improved just by posting here, so thank you. I hope I can see you guys around (when I'm around) and we can chat and stuff!)

Harespring jumped a little at the sound of Spiderlegs voice, surprised a bit at that sharpness in the elder toms voice, but not really, since this was Spiderleg he was talking about. Moving away from his arugement with Mousewhisker about fighting and thr forgotten barrier work, he padded over to the tom swiftly, not really wanting to incur a more sharp temper from him. He didn't really feel like getting chewed out today. "What's up?" He asked, looking around the camp as he stood beside Spiderleg, trying to figure out what had upset him. His gaze fell upon the fresh-kill pile lastly, before looking back up grumpy tom. That'd be why, he thought quietly. Being Onestars Deputy, especially during the toms last moons alive, had taught him to take a mental count of the cats he knew were out of the camp, as Onestar had a bit of problem with to many cats wandering the moor. Harespring found it almost funny, as if they'd get attacked by another clan when everyone was dying, but he complied to his cankerous leader. Just as he seemed to be doing now, he thought with mild annoyance, but he wasn't going to argue, it wouldn't get him anywhere now. So, with a quick glance around camp again he made a mental note. Weaselfur, Hootpaw and Poppyfrost...Kinkfur..again...Leaftail just got back...

Was the tom really unaware of the fact that the fresh-kill pile was so empty? Had he too been neglecting his job? Had he been hunting only for himself? He jerked his head toward the fresh-kill pile. "That's what the problem is," he hissed. "An empty fresh-kill pile. How is a Clan supposed to survive off of two mice and a thrush, huh? Especially with kits on the way! It's time for everyone to stop moping about and accept what has happened. There are jobs to be done, and one of those is filling the fresh-kill pile. We need to fatten ourselves up before leaf-bare, lest we starve." His tail lashing from side to side in obvious irritation, he looked back at Harespring. "Go and find Amberpaw and tell her that we're going out hunting. If I must be the one to fill the pile, then I will. It shouldn't fall to me to fix the problem, but it apparently has. One cat cannot take on the burden of a whole Clan's needs, you know. Go on, get going!" He turned his gaze away from Harespring. His Clanmates needed direction, and fast. They needed a leader to set the rules and a deputy to make sure they were followed. They needed the guidance of a deputy to make sure the borders were patrolled and the pile was full. Without that, they would surely die off.

Amberpaw flicked an ear. She could hear Spiderleg's irritation all the way from the nursery. The apprentice couldn't help but purr in amusement, wondering what it could be this time. Grumpy furball, she thought, realizing that he was possibly going to be leading them all. Better take him seriously, then. Instead of going over to him, she sat down, drawing a paw over her face as she watched the commotion.
Leaftail was taken aback by the irritated air in camp. Oh, come on, he thought to himself. Already something went wrong. A fight between a ThunderClan and ShadowClan cat? A challenge for leadership? Leaftail guessed, moving so he had a clear view of the commotion. Oh. He stopped, seeing how low the prey pile was. Guilt washed over him for a moment. All that time marking the border when I could've caught a nice rabbit for everyone.
Leaftail decided to keep a low profile, slinking past Harespring and Weaselfur towards the warrior's den. The last thing he needed was for a ThunderClan cat to yell at him, even though Spiderleg was probably in the right to do so. Leaftail fell into one of the nests, keeping his ears pricked as he listened to the ThunderClan tom talk.

He lashed his tail to show his irration as he spoke in a calm voice, or at least he hoped so anyway, to Spiderleg. "I HAVE been working." He said, fiercely and gestered to the half bulit barrier that Pinenose and Mousewhisker were working on. "Pinenose too, ever since she came back from her patrol." He returned his gaze to Spiderleg again as he continued,"Besides, we do have cats out hunting. Weaselfur, Kinkfur, Poppyfrost and Hootpaw." He finished, trying to not sneer with his words. He had been through a lot, but even though he'd never ever hunt for himself or ignore his clan. He turned around to walk back to his barrier work, before pausing,"Amberpaw is right behind you." He said, and effectively ending the converstation. Pinenose made an amused sound before passing Harespring to join up with Spiderleg and Amberpaw,"I'll hunt with you two." She said, with a glance back to Harespring who was still bristled with annyonce as he weaved the thorn and bramble barrier parts together.

ThrushmoonThe fur on Spiderleg's spine rose as the BadgerClan tom addressed him in such a rude manner. How dare he? Did he not- Wait. He was still Spiderleg. He wasn't Spiderstar yet. He was a fool for thinking that just any cat - especially Harespring - would listen to him just out of the blue. The previous night had happened simply because the Clan were vulnerable and scared after the rogue incident. Now, however, they'd clearly bounced back. He'd make sure to get his payback later, however. Once he was leader, he'd be sure to give Harespring the nastiest job he could think of. Yeah, that'd teach him. He appreciated Pinenose's offer, giving her a grateful glance. The black she-cat was always there for him to lean on lately, and he appreciated that. Back in the day, they never would have been friends. No, that would not have been possible. But now, perhaps they could. Things had certainly changed enough to make it possible, that was for sure. Shaking off his annoyance, he gave Pinenose a kind, appreciative smile. "Thank you. It's nice to know that some cats are willing to help me out." He shot Harespring a nasty glare. Jerking his head toward Amberpaw, he called, "Amberpaw! Hunting, now!" His voice rang with harshness. Deep down, he didn't mean to sound so firm, but in his eyes it was the only way to ensure that Amberpaw was always aware of her status as his apprentice rather than his equal. If he went lax with her, she would become soft and overly disobedient. She'd start disrespecting authority and throwing her weight around. Kind of like Harespring.

Amberpaw looked up at Spiderleg's call. Not very surprised by his tone, she restrained the temptation to let out a snide remark towards her mentor. She would've been able to get away with it back in old ThunderClan, but in BadgerClan, no way. Oh, no. She'd be the biggest piece of fresh-kill in moons! Amberpaw simply padded over to the group.
As she did so, she gave Spiderleg a wary look. He was being rather bossy. Shaking her head slightly, she made her expression go neutral as she glanced at Pinenose and Spiderleg. "So, where are we going to hunt?" she asked. She didn't really want to go far. Who knew with Spiderleg? He could pick the ThunderClan border, or he could make the patrol go all the way towards uncharted territory. She hoped it was the former, as she was still recovering from her wounds. The apprentice hoped she would be strong enough to hunt.
Amberpaw wondered why Spiderleg didn't just hang behind. The warrior seemed to be doing a lot these days - taking care of patrols, observing the building of the bramble wall, and checking up on cats. She couldn't deny that he was a hard worker, though, but she didn't get why he didn't just save his strength. There were other capable warriors, too, not just Spiderleg!

Think about hunting, Pinenose She thought to herself, fluffing out her pelt a bit as she refocused. She was just attaching herself to her new clanmates fiercely, that's all. "Hi Amberpaw." She mewed as the young apprentice came over at Spiderleg's grumpy call. He seemed to be settling into the role of leader pretty well, whether he was making himself more bossy or if that just came naturally to him had yet to be seen, but poor Harespring seem to first to take the brunt of it. Not that the spotted tom didn't give as good as he got, with a glance at the aforementioned Harespring,"Are you sure you don't want to hunt with us?" She asked. All she got was an irrated hiss in response, and she flicked her tail tip in mild amusement. "Where should we go to hunt, Spiderleg?" She asked, turning her attention to her future leader.
