"Alright, thanks for the heads up. We'll hit the stream first and work from there." Lynxstep replied. He padded towards the camp entrance with Badgerstripe in tow. "It's such a nice day out." He said slipping through the entrance, "Hopefully the prey will be out enjoying it like everyone else."

Badgerstripe
Badger flicked his tail, nodding to Lynxstep. He didn't think Stormfire would've heard from where the deputy stood and when Stormfire had quickly responded, Badgerstripe's fur had bristled just slightly in surprise. "Well then, with leaf bare coming quickly, I believe either the Moonlit or Slippery Stones would be good for hunting. Any opinions?"

The grey tom nodded his head, "Prey would most likely be around the stream, in this weather. Water is critical and the stream is one of the most sufficient places to get water" Stormfire answered, he lifted his tail and pointed his ears forward. He looked becak at the camp to make sure it was safe, before slipping out after the two.

"Like Stormfire said, the stream would probably be the best place to check first. There's plenty of food there for the prey to gather so it's where they'll most likely be." Lynxstep said looking over at Badgerstripe after watching the deputy slip back into camp. "Leaf bare is a tough time for everybody but I can't help but to be glad about it, all this fur is only useful in cold weather." the tom said slightly grimacing.

Stormfire nodded, "I think most of us are starting to develop our thick pelts for leaf-bare." He lifted his chin, "I would be no more chilly nights for me" the tom curled his tail and twitched his ear.

"My pelt is already long and thick enough as it is, if it gets any worse I'll die of heat stroke." The tom exaggerated, his whiskers drooping. "I'm about ready to pull some of it out so there isn't as much, I have enough to make nests for the whole clan!" he complained.

Cool. :3 I'm back. ]
Badgerstripe
Badgerstripe flicked his tail, padding just a tad ahead of the patrol, lost in his aimless thoughts. Flattening his ears for a brief second as he hit an old memory, a flash back of him as an apprentice. He quickened his pace, noting just ahead was Moonlit. "We're almost there." He motioned to the spot ahead of him.

Sorry I poofed I was at the store ]]
Lynxstep kept pace behind Badgerstripe, his ears perking forward at the mention of Moonlit. He was careful of where he stepped, making sure he didn't break a twig or rustle some leaves. When the group reached Moonlit he motioned that he was going to take the right side, flicking his tail for emphasis. He quietly made his way through the undergrowth, taking care to watch his tail so it didn't brush the ground. His ears swiveled when he heard a rustling near the base of a large tree, looking towards the sound he spotted a squirrel sitting on the trees large roots. With careful steps he slowly stalked towards the squirrel, stopping only when the rodent looked in his direction. When it's back was turned away from he he sprang from the bushes, landing squarely on the squirrel and giving it a quick killing bite to the neck. Lynxstep shook the loose leaves from his fur and purred happily, he rarely caught squirrels and celebrated it as a personal victory when he did. Picking up the fat rodent he made his way back towards where the group originally split up.

[ Cinderpaw | Apprentice | 10 moons ] Cinderpaw purred in amusement as Redfur turned down Hawkpaw's invitation to join them. Redfur seemed rather uncomfortable with them, which she found a little funny. Bet he can't wait for an apprentice to train, Cinderpaw thought. She wondered if Rainstar would even give him an apprentice quite yet, he was still a pretty young warrior... and a little standoffish at times. Cinderpaw's attention immediately shifted back to the task at hand as Nettlepaw began to speak. She nodded, not certain if Speckledpaw would actually be up for playing with them. He didn't seem like the type, he'd probably get freaked out. [ Speckledpaw | Apprentice | 8 moons ] Speckledpaw jumped slightly as Nettlepaw spoke to him. He hesitated just a moment, his eyes still on the shadow that he thought was a cat, before saying, "No, thanks, I'll just watch." That was easier, he didn't have to worry as much... Speckledpaw's ears immediately perked as he heard a sneeze. He stared at what he was now certain was a cat, not wanting to intrude... but... Speckledpaw took another small step into the den. "Sorry," Speckledpaw said hesitantly. He didn't continue his thought, but didn't leave either. » Hawkpaw
Hawkpaw folled the other two into the apprentices den. He wasn't really listening. He thought he heard Nettlepaw inviting Speckledpaw. Speckledpaw was shifty as usual. Did he just apologize? He couldn't see who he was talking to. What did he do to apologize? As his eyes adjusted to the low light, he could make out Firepaw. Was she upset? He didn't ask her yet, not in front of all the other apprentices. He settled down next to Cinderpaw and wrapped his tail over his paws. He focused on Nettlepaw who was in front of him before looking over at Speckledpaw and then Firepaw.

Nettlepaw nodded at the jumpy tom's answer, then squinted into the den. He spotted his sister quite easily, he was used to her hiding in dark places. He backed up, out of the den, then layed next to Cinderpaw and Hawkpaw. The tom guessed that it was Firepaw, instead of Spottedpaw who ran into the den.
/-/
Firepaw flattened her ears and rolled her eye, flipping all the way over so that she could look at Spottedpaw. "Don't be. It's not my den, it's all of ours until we move out. You're allowed to come in when ever you want," she hissed. "Just don't go in my nest," she added, scraping some stray moss back into her nest. It was special to her, she stuffed it with a layer of feathers all by herself.

He stepped backwards, stepping on a crispy leaf in the process. Cursing to himself, but as he went to run, he felt jaws around his tail and lashed around to see it was a somewhat large fox, perhaps a very angry male.

[ Cinderpaw | Apprentice | 10 moons ] Cinderpaw stared in confusion at Firepaw, startled by her sudden hostility. Cinderpaw opened her mouth to immediately without thought to come to Speckledpaw's aide. Speckledpaw spoke faster than her however, and Cinderpaw immediately bit back her own words. This wasn't her place to intervene, and she honestly didn't know either apprentices. It would be wrong for her to interject. [ Speckledpaw | Apprentice | 8 moons ] Speckledpaw huffed, mildly agitated as Firepaw hissed at him. What in StarClan has gotten under her pelt? Speckledpaw wondered. He made sure to stay calm collected, he knew she wasn't mad at him. He had to tread lightly, he didn't want to make an enemy today. "I wasn't planning on taking your nest," Speckledpaw began. "I only apologized because I thought you were trying to sleep, and I know it can be annoying for apprentices to stomp around the den." Speckledpaw paused, and his voice softened slightly. "Is something wrong?" During this entire time Speckledpaw felt rather calm, which wasn't really strange for him. He wasn't really afraid during moments like these, it always felt like he was on auto pilot, words simply fell into place. The second he had finished his thought however, he felt panic take him in waves. He questioned every word he had said, and whether or not he was stepping out of line. He didn't really know Firepaw, at all. He was simply another apprentice. Speckledpaw prayed to StarClan that he wouldn't have to come up with a rebuttal, he knew that his moment was over. He wouldn't say the right words. [ Cinderpaw | Apprentice | 10 moons ] For a moment Cinderpaw was stunned by how abrasive Speckledpaw had been... then she rolled her eyes, now realizing as Speckledpaw's ears twitched and his small tail quivered that he was back to himself. Cinderpaw didn't get him, he was amazing at fighting, or at least dodging in battle. But when it came to hunting, he seemed to overthink every single paw step.

» Hawkpaw
Hawkpaw stepped forward. He knew how embarressing it was to admitt if there's something wrong. Before Firepaw could retort defensively, moving himself next to Speckledpaw he mewed softly, "She probably just wants to be left alone for now." He didn't want anyone starting a scene. He motioned towards the exit with a flick of his tail, gesturing that they should leave.

Growling low and deep he ran towards the smell, bursting out of the undergrowth like a bat out of hell. The fox had his clanmate by the tail and showed no signs of letting go. Yowling he sprang for the fox, sinking his claws into its legs and biting it near the base of the tail. The fox let go in a yelp of surprise and whipped around to face it's new attacker. Springing away from the fox he missed the jaws that snapped towards him, loosing a tuft of fur instead. The fox growled in frustration and spat out the fur, making another lunge towards the large cat. Lynxstep swiped at the fox's face with all his strength, catching the canine over his eye. The fox yelped in pain and turned tail, running off in the other direction towards the territory border with a very angry Lynxstep on his heels.

The fox yelped in pain and turned tail, running off in the other direction towards the territory border with a very angry Lynxstep on his heels. Darn, i missed the dramatic bit D: XD ) Stormfire was padding past a large oak tree when he scented the strong and mank scent of a fox, spinning around quickly he couldn't hear or see the fox. The tom could only see a dakr burrow, confidently he made his way over to the burrow and looked down. Fortunately, there was no sign of the fox that made the burrow. Stormfire bit his lip and backed away, turning around to go back to the patrol. Suddenly, a loud growl of a fox echoed the area, Stormfire leaped to his paws and stared around, directly running to where the center of the sound was. The grey tom saw a large fox growling, with Badgerstripe being hung like prey and Lynxstep hissing at it furiously. In fury, Stormfire leaped towards the fox, teeth bared and claws unsheathed, and clung onto the fox ruffled pelt. His claws dug into the foxes pelt and the tom could feel the warm blood ooze from the wounds. The fox let out a yelp and a growl before shaking Stormfire off. Spinning around the fox lunged at Stormfire, swiping with its large paw. The grey cat just about jumped back in time, but not far as he felt the claws rip fur on his side. Ignoring the pain, Stormfire nipped on the foxes ear, before sliding down and slashing at the foxes exposed belly. Before the fox could spin around, Stormfire backed away and let Lynxstep deal the final blow. Stormfire watched Lynxstep chase to fox out of the territory. Quick as a bird, he soun around to face Bagerstripe. "Are you alright!?" He meowed.

Ferntail
She couldn't hold back a soft chuckle of amusement as he described his leaf bare personality. "I lean more towards new leaf." She said quietly, not wanting to speak of anything in the past. "I'm gentle, soft, and kind but I can be ruthless and hot." She murmured, her voice holding just slightly at the end. Raventwist caught the slight catch to her voice and held back a frown. "Such wonderful qualities for a warrior, though." Raventwist said, trying to comfort her without her knowing he was doing it in the first place, make her feel like he wasn't pitying or coddling her, "Gentle for your clan, and ruthless on the battlefield. Qualities like those will take you far in clan life." (Sorry for not replying much yesterday! I got really busy with family stuff!)

At this point, Nettlepaw was feeling quite awkward, just sitting there and listening to Spottedpaw's conversation with Firepaw. He honestly didn't know what to do, he didn't want to say anything to Firepaw because he always says the wrong things; he didn't want to ask if Cinderpaw or Hawkpaw were ready to play because that would sound rude. So, he just sat there pulling grass out with his claws.
/-/
Firepaw twitched her ears, hearing Hawkpaw say they should leave. Without even thinking, a "No!" escaped her jaws, then she groaned and stood up, padding over. "Whhhhere are yoouuuu going?" She asked, stretching out her words as she sat and playfully leaned on her brother, but she was pushed off. Huffing, the ginger tabby leaned on Cinderpaw instead.

Badgerstripe
Frustrated and embarrassed for not being able to fight off the fox, the tom had an edge to his voice and he had a growl emitting from his parted jaws as he faced Stormfire, tail dropping of fox saliva and some blood but not much. "Thanks to Lynxstep I'm fine." He said, it coming out harsher than he meant it to. He lashed his tail, "We'll wait for Lynxstep to get back to decide whether or not we're done hunting." Ferntail
In what she previously said, she recalled calling herself hot and imediently wanted to change that, she was probably interpreting something else to the tom. "By hot I meant hot headed." She muttered a bit embarrassed. "I guess some of my traits are good." She shrugged, a small smile escaping her muzzle

Stormfire nodded quickly, "we will wait until Lynxstep gets back, then we need to get back to camp. I need to tell Rainstar about the situation, there is a chance that fox might come back, after all i found a fox burrow that may have been dug out by that fox." He meowed, flicking his tail, the tom nosed Badgerstripe to his paws and spun around facing the direction the fox took off in.

Badgerstripe
The tom sighed, somewhat full of shame. "Let's just hope Lynxstep can handle it on his own. It's twice his size." He said distastfully, letting his fur lie flat. "I was mouse brained when I didn't get away fast enough." He said lowly, swishing his tail. He lowered his head, picking up the two mice he had caught.

A few minutes later Lynxstep emerged from the bushes, "Are you two alright?" He asked genuinely concerned. Flopping down he panted heavily, having chased the fox to the edge of the territory. A tuft of fox fur was still stuck to the side of his face, he half heartedly wiped at it with a large white paw that had been turned a dingy brown due to a run in with a puddle on the chase.
The fox had been chased off of Shadeclan's border with its tail between its legs, the large male choosing to hide out and lick his wounds rather than return to his den near Moonlit.

As Badger tried to drive the shame away he couldn't. "Yes, I'm fine." He muttered. "My tail might be broken at the tip though." He lashed his tail. "I'm not one for fighting, I was technically trained to be a medicine cat but then I backed out." He said, not quite sure if anyone would recall when Badger was an apprentice.

Stormfire blinked, "Then we must get to camp, since Lynxtep is back now." He meowed, waving his tail towards the trail to camp. He backed away behind the two. "You two go first, I'll go behind and check the scents. The tom brushed past a tree and could scent the fading scent of the fox. "I'm surprised no one else had scented the fox, its scent has gone everywhere!"

Badgerstripe
Badgerstripe huffed, "I'm surprised I didn't scent it in time." Normally not being able to scent small scents because of an injury on his muzzle as a kit, but Badgerstripe should've scented the fox. "Do you think it got smart enough to cover its scent just a bit? I noticed some mud coated in its pelt when it first attacked me." He shrugged, suggesting that the fox might've covered it's scent to lure prey.

(Definitely it added a little drama ^^)
"Hmm" Stormfire pondered, thinking back. It was true that the fox was covered in mud, but it might have just got splashed by it when charging at Badgerstripe. "Probably" the tom finally answered to Badgerstripes question, "I didn't smell it either so it was most likely a possibility." Stormfire pressed up against the tree marked with all the fox scents, "we should cover up the scents before a patrol starts to panic about a fox being here." He pondered again, there might be a possibility that the fox might return, and Stormfire had no doubts about it.

"It's alright, Badgerstripe. Some of us are better at hunting while others excel in fighting. There's nothing to be ashamed about. The clan needs all kinds of cats to function properly, and besides you're trained in medicine so you're a very valuable cat to this clan. You can help tend the wounded outside of camp and serve as another medicine cat when the clan needs them most." Lynxstep soothed still trying to catch his breath. The large Tom wasn't used to fighting and then running full speed to the clan's border. The poor cat was winded, he just wasn't made for running long distances. "Hopefully your tail is alright, but if not think of the bright side. You'll have an awesome battle scar you can show off to everyone." He said with amusement.
The tom heaved himself to his paws at the mention of returning to camp, still panting he picked up his squirrel that had been dropped nearby. "Well when you're concentrating on hunting things like that can get past you, we made a mistake by not scenting it beforehand but it's been chased off the territory with its tail between its legs." Lynxstep mumbled around the squirrel's fur.
