[[ Alright cool, thank you! ]]
Not being very busy at the moment, Dawnwarbler was preoccupying herself with some daily grooming in the camp. Her twin Duskraven was off doing who knew what, so she was left to her own means. She wasn't very focused on her grooming as her amber eyes flickered attentively to the hustle around camp. She saw Pebblesplash talking with Ebonysong and caught the deputy looking at her before she turned away. Seeing the warrior wander around the camp, she knew that she was looking for her. The black she-cat rose to her paws and approached the she-cat. "Looking for me, hmm?" Dawnwarbler mused to Ebonysong. "What does Pebblesplash want from me?" The she-cat gave a chuckle at the thought. The deputy probably wanted her to go out and do something. A patrol maybe? Who knew.

Ebonysong was slightly surprised when Dawnwarbler found her first. "Patrol. We have to go around near the Twolegplace," she explained after a moment. "It shouldn't take too long, as it's one of our closest borders. Do you want to grab something to eat before you leave?" she asked, tilting her head and angling her ears towards the black she-cat.

The black she-cat gave a small sly smile. "Sorry if I startled you." Dawnwarbler commented, catching the look of surprise on Ebonysong's face. She was always quick to catch something, so it wasn't a surprise she was one step ahead of someone; she preferred it that way. The warrior nodded her head in acknowledgement and replied, "So a quick patrol then, eh? Sounds fine by me. I've got nothing much else to do anyways." To the she-cat's question, she shook her head. "I'm not really hungry so I'm good. Whenever you're ready, lead on." Dawnwarbled flicked her ear and gave a patient smile.

Ebonysong gave a brief nod to acknowledge Dawnwarbler's response before stepping past her and leading the way towards the camp entrance. She stepped lightly, with a slight jump to her step as she slid through the thorn tunnel and out into the forest. She headed southwest, wanting to start at the west side of the border before making her way along the border and back towards the camp once they had finished. "Beautiful day today," she remarked with a relaxed sigh, trotting through the pine trees as she looked above. She saw clear blue skies with a few wisps of clouds in the gaps between the tops of the trees. She knew the hunting patrols must have caught a lot today, forest walker and river glider alike.

(Sorry for the inactivity! College classes have been rough for me, but I think I've fallen into a groove so I'm back now)
The dark gray tom frowned, glancing back at his mentor with a slightly irritated flick of his tail. "Yeah okay. I'll go right ahead in trust in the cats who let a cat who was plotting my murder walk among us for moons. If they're so great they should've done something." He turned his head to face forwards, the entrance to camp not far at that point. "In Melodyheart's stories, Starclan were said to have united the cats of the pine forest into what Pineclan is now to stop the violence among us and yet they don't seem that great to me. Maybe they're just a kit's tale that someone thought of to keep us from doing anything bad. 'Starclan won't welcome you into their hunting grounds if you do something bad' or something like that."

"You can believe what you want, but it's true. The only way you'd understand is when you die and have no afterlife to go to. You'd never meet a StarClan cat with that kind of disbelief either so you might as well consider every cat you've known and passed to be long gone now and never to be seen again," Haretooth muttered simply. He was tired of arguing with the apprentice. He overtook Ashpaw and led the way towards the camp, slipping through the thorn tunnel and walking inside. He dropped Ashpaw's catches on the ground. "Take that to the fresh-kill pile and make sure you bring something for the elders," he growled.

"Yes Haretooth." Ashpaw grumbled, snatching up the rest of his prey and heading off towards the pile. The hair on his pelt stood stiff with aggravation, but he knew he wasn't going to get through to his mentor regardless of what he argued. Calming his nerves, the young tom dropped his kills on the pile, snatching up the squirrel to take to the elders as instructed. Before he had even taken more than a few steps, the nauseating stench of fish practically slapped him in the face. Glaring towards the scent, he was met with the amused gaze of Leopardcreek, the River Glider having hauled two large fish to the pile. As if we need your disgusting fish! The apprentice thought with a snort before turning tail towards the elder's den.
Leopardcreek watched the apprentice go, slightly upset that he hadn't said anything in that bratty way all Forest Walkers seemed to speak to those chosen to swim within the water of Pineclan territory. Still, she was still beside herself with glee after seeing that adorable glare the young tom had shot her way. He didn't realize it but he was no doubt beside himself with envy. He just couldn't appreciate the wonders of being a River Glider. Speaking of cats who didn't understand, the silver-furred she-cat turned her attention to his grumpy mentor. Putting on a mischievous smile, Leopardcreek trotted towards him. "Well hello there handsome," she purred, fluffy tail curling over her back. "I see the prey has been running well in the forest. ;) ;) ;)"

Haretooth growled, taking a step back and scrunching his nose up in disgust. This she-cat even stank like the gross fish she brought back to the camp. "Just as well as it's apparently running in the river. Do you think you brought enough to stink up the whole camp yet?" he snorted, taking a reluctant seat where he stood as he waited for Ashpaw to return. As irritating as his apprentice could be, nothing was more irritating that a mischievous river glider, and Leopardcreek was the definition of one.

Leopardcreek flashed him a grin, padding up to his side and seating herself close beside him. She knew all too well how much the Forest Walker despised her 'kind' and it just made this all the more appealing to her. "I don't know really." The she-cat shrugged nonchalantly, pressing her muzzle against his as if trying to rub her fishy scent right off onto his fur. "What do you think handsome?"

Haretooth let out a low snarl, getting to his paws in an instant and stepping away from her. He was trying to keep a hold on his temper and not attack another PineClan warrior, tempting as it was. "Haven't they ever taught you river gliders about personal space?" he spoke through gritted teeth, his lips drawn back in a snarl.

"Nope never heard of it. Is that one of those Forest Walker things that only you understand?" The spotted tabby chirped innocently, yet her eyes shone with mischievous amusement. Fortunately she didn't move from where she had seated herself, taking a moment groom her still damp paws before continuing. "Don't tell me a little comfort from a fellow clanmate has you so on edge! I was just being friendly."

"Comfort?" Haretooth echoed mockingly, his eyes narrowing to slits as he glanced at her out of the corner of his eye. "Comfort for what? Do I look like I'm grieving?" he snarled. River gliders were a disgrace to PineClan enough, but at least the others kept to themselves and didn't behave like kits. The light brown tom wondered how Leopardcreek ever became a warrior with her kittish attitude always lurking around her. She was always looking for trouble, and Haretooth was a cat who hated trouble.

Sorry for not being here. Weekdays are a bit busy for me lately. I should be better in the future. )
Melodyheart sighed as the tick left. StarClan curse those bugs. They weren't so much of a problem in the past. Now whenever one sunk its greedy jaws into her, she could feel it. The elder wished for her thicker fur back. Her attention was slowly drawn to the apprentice combing through her fur. Minnowpaw was an River Glider in-training, if she remembered correctly. The name was a lucky gamble. The elder thought it was amusing when she saw a kit with a water name go into the Forest Walker rank or vise versa. Sometimes it was more amusing to see the parent's faces. She let a small chuckle escape. "So how is the training going?" She said, not much liking the drawn out silence. She might be a quiet cat but she always like the voices of others.
Leafpaw's ears twitched but that was the only sign that he had heard his mentor. His copper eyes were locked on the water again. He could feel the tension build in him. It was now or never. Earlier, he had only thought of his family, but now he remembered a lot more was riding on a fish. His mentor and his fellow apprentice's trust and respect were also hanging in the balance. Well, not hanging in the balance, but he could only imagine what they thought of him now. His limbs suddenly felt weak and he felt a bit sick. But he still tried to push aside his feelings as he scanned the water again. A few fish swum by, but they were too fast or not close enough to Leafpaw's bank. Perhaps it was StarClan giving the tom a break but a small fish slowly swum by him. The apprentice felt his fur rise in anticipation. His paw reached for the fish and scooped. Along with water, which showered the tom, a small, silver fish fell onto the shore. Leafpaw spared no time trapping the fish under his paws. His claws sunk into the fish's head. The prey was still as well as the apprentice. His tail swished a couple times as he waited. Nothing. The apprentice tentatively stepped off of the prey and looked to his mentor for answers. He really thought killing the fish had to be done by a nip to the spine.

"But you clearly are!" Leopardcreek purred, standing up and daring to take a few step closer to the clearly aggravated Forest Walker. "You've obviously lost your sense of humor dearest Haretooth and here is little ole' me trying to desperately to assist in your recovery because I care. I'm your clanmate Haretooth and I only want what's best for you."
(Ah it's no problem. I've been pretty out of it myself while adjusting to college courses and then I just slept all day today lol)
The River Glider apprentice's ears flicked as she acknowledged the elder's question while placing the mousebile down close enough so that she could reach it again but far enough away that she wouldn't accidentally trod on it and get it on her paws. "I don't do much of it recently. Pinestar needs to decide on my new mentor since my old one... died from greencough and untill that happens I just do chores around the camp." Minnowpaw replied with a shrug, her paws setting back to work as she searched for the second tick Melodyheart mentioned. "I'm starting to forget what it feels like to be a River Glider since I'm never even near the water anymore."

Melodyheart grew silent at the young cat's words. To loose a mentor at such a young age and not be able to move on with training, the elder could only imagine what that must be like. Her ears perked up at the apprentice's last statement. "Do you want to accompany with me to the nearby stream? We could say you are protecting me or something of the sort." Humor slipped into her voice as she spoke, "Who knows, I might drown since I'm a useless Forest walker and with my legs so weak now." A rough purr escaped the she-cat.

Dawnwarbler briskly followed the she-cat out of the camp. After slipping through the thorn tunnel, she suddenly felt her mood brightened. The warrior's stride lightened and she couldn't help but smile. She padded alongside Ebonysong as they went southwest towards the border. It seemed all was silent for a while until the she-cat had spoken, commenting on the weather. Dawnwarbler gave a small hum in agreement. "It definitely is. I like when the weather's like this. Everything seems so... peaceful..." She drifted off for a moment, ironic considering she was a rather chatty fellow. One days like these, the environment seemed to have a more quiet bliss and she had to admit she liked it from time to time. The irony of the situation went away as soon as it came seeing she jumped right back into the conversation as she launched a question at the warrior. "What about you? What do you like about a particular type of weather?"

The apprentice almost unsheathed her claws in surprise and excitement while her tail started the batter the ground restlessly. "Seriously?" Minnowpaw gasped, unable to hid the happiness in her mew. I had been at least moon since her mentor had passed and even longer than that since she's been stuck in the camp all while hoping the warrior would recover from the illness that would later take her life. The idea of finally leaving after all this time and feeling the cool stream water pass through her fur was almost unimaginable. Minnowpaw paused her internal celebration, suddenly recalling what she was there to do in the first place and quickly returned to searching through the elder's fur. Feeling this one instead of actually spotting it due to the lack of contrast between the tick and the dark fur, the apprentice used a paw to hold her place while reaching down to grab the stick once more.

The elder nodded slowly as a reply. Melodyheart forced herself not to laugh at the apprentice's enthusiasm. She liked Minnowpaw's glee. She was just trying not to talk and shift now that the apprentice seemed to have the final tick in her claws. She closed her eyes forcing herself to stay completely still. Though she couldn't stop an ear twitching at the soft sound of rustling trees. After a couple seconds, she cracked on eye open. "Are you done?" She rasped. Maybe the aging Forest walker was a bit excited for their little patrol.

"Just about." The River Glider apprentice mewed around the stick, carefully dabbing at the bulbous insect with the foul smelling moss till it released its hold on Melodyheart and tumbled clear of her. "There! Now I just need to return this stuff to Claudette and we can go!" Minnowpaw was already haring away, her speed rivaling that of a Forest Walker towards Claudette's den.

Melodyheart's whiskers twitched at the apprentice's excitement and quick exit. The elder was not as quick as Minnowpaw. She hauled herself up and slowly padded out. While the fresh air was a relief to the elder's senses, it caused her thin fur to fluff up. Her ears flicked to lay on the back on her head for a second. Curse my thinning fur, Melodyheart thought with a huff. She slowed to a stop when she was a foxlength away from the exit, waiting for her companion. She was sure the cooped-up apprentice would like to lead the way or would swiftly leave the elder in her dust due to excitement. Not that the elder would mind if this happened. She would like to enjoy the forest and take her time, not that it was really a choice anymore. She almost had that 'elder gait', aka she was almost walking like an injured badger. Keeping up with the apprentice would be...difficult.

"Alright I'm ready!" Minnowpaw meowed, trotting free of the medicine den and towards the elder and the camp entrance. "Claudette is such an old badger! She was all bent out of shape cause I dropped that disgusting stuff practically on her paws, but honestly what does she expect when she says to put it down. I did and it just so happened to be almost on her paws!" The silver-furred she-cat snorted, arriving by Melodyheart's side bursting with enthusiasm. She could barely stop herself from darting right through the bramble tunnel and out into the forest. Granted she would prefer to dive right into the nearest stream, but just seeing outside of camp was more than enough for her at this point in time.

Haretooth snarled at her and batted at her to get away with a sheathed paw, though he debated unsheathing them. Maybe a good swipe to the face would finally get his point across and make the stupid she-cat go away. "I've had enough of this." How long did it take an apprentice to drop off some fresh-kill and walk right back outside the den? He saw Minnowpaw and Melodyheart leaving, so that only left Cloudygaze. "Ashpaw!"
Snowberry couldn't help but let out an exasperated sigh and rolled her eyes. She stepped forward and placed a paw on the fish before it could suddenly leap back into the water. She soon leaned down in one swift motion and performed the final blow as she gave it a nip to the back of the neck. "Why did you hesitate?" she questioned as she lifted her head to face her apprentice. "You were lucky that you had stunned it enough that it was winded on the ground. I saw it in your eyes, you knew what had to be done! So why did you stop? There was nothing stopping you. The fish wasn't going to turn into a fox and bite your snout!" she insisted desperately, her tail flicking impatiently.
Ebonysong padded alongside the she-cat, slightly in the lead. She continued to head for the border, winding her way through the trees and leaping across the streams that cut through their territory. Her ears twitched as she heard Dawnwarbler respond to her casual comment from before. "Hm? A particular type of weather? Well...I like when it isn't troublesome. The kind of weather that promotes good hunting, like this. Even though we aren't on a hunting patrol," she added with a chuckle. "It's good for patrolling as well. Of course rain or snow won't kill a patrol, but StarClan help the unfortunate cat that gets a chill and has to get their ears clawed off by Claudette! She's so helpful, but sometimes I think she's still stuck in her own ways. She would argue with Pebblesplash for sending out patrols in bad weather even though the borders still need to be guarded!" she purred in amusement.

Smokepaw grunted, trotting free of the elder's den at the sound of his mentor's impatient yowl. "Coming!" The apprentice flinched backward at the unwelcome sight and stench of Leopardcreek rather close to his mentor. He resisted the urge to turn tail and find some excuse why he couldn't be there at that specific time. "Leopardcreek," he mewed to her a soft and slightly disgusted greeting. He wasn't even fazed when he didn't get one back, instead inwardly celebrating when the she-cat turned away and headed for the Warrior's den.

(Bruh Smokepaw).
"Come on," Haretooth growled, showing slight relief when Leopardcreek had finally left his side. "I thought that stupid river glider would never get off my pelt. She's like a tick," he muttered and led the way out of the camp. He slid through the thorn tunnel and veered to the right, heading towards the Pine Grove. "What took you so long anyways? You were dropping off some prey," he questioned with a twitch of his ears.

"Minnowpaw wouldn't shut up and no one even noticed I was there." The apprentice muttered, following close behind his mentor. "I was waiting for her to quiet down but in the end they just left so I dropped the squirrel for when Cloudygaze wakes up." Ashpaw sped up a bit to walk closer to his mentor's side. "So what was up with Leopardcreek anyway. She didn't seem too happy to see me not that I'd want her to be."

Dawnwarbler weaved her way through the forest terrain, keeping a light paw-step as she leaped across the streams as they went on. Her ears flicked attentively as she listened to the she-cat's response. She nodded her head and had a questioning look in her eyes. "Hmm yes, I suppose anyone would like weather like that. Silly me to ask a question like that," the black she-cat gave a chuckle. At the mention of the medicine cat, she gave a little gasp in mock-surprise. "Oh don't get me started on Claudette!" She suddenly gave a snicker and quickly added, "I'm only teasing. She's wonderful, and certainly persistent." Dawnwarbler's attention span was certainly cut short as her ears perked up, noticing her surroundings. "Say, it seems familiar around here. We probably close now, huh?" She asked.

Haretooth let out an inward groan as his apprentice mentioned the river glider. "Don't ask me. That one's weird, even for a river glider. She just insisted on getting all in my space and pestering with nonsense while you were gone. I don't even know why she left that easily once you showed up, but I'm not complaining," he muttered as the Pine Grove came into sight. He padded forward and stepped onto the soft earth covered by pine needles. "On another note, are you ready to start your training?"
Ebonysong paused for a moment and scented the air. "Yes, the border is right over here," she answered and stepped forward, marking the nearest scent marker. She walked along the border, spotting the huge Twoleg structures in the distance that were close to towering the trees that surrounded it. "They're not very close, but they look like it with how big they are..." she remarked as she inhaled the scent that the wind brought. "I think one of them let out a dog recently, but the scent is stale, so we should be okay."

The elder's whisker's twitched at the young cat's recounting, but she couldn't help but to feel a twinge of sympathy for the medicine cat. Nothing smelled worse than mousebile and now the poor she-cat had it all over her paws. Hopefully Claudette wouldn't get her revenge later. Melodyheart quickly padded out of camp and after Minnowpaw. She let out a quiet, happy rumble as the wind brushed through her fur as she stepped out of the tunnel. There was wind in camp, but they were protected by the thick wall of plants. The wind was never this strong. Her tail swayed as she lumbered after the quick apprentice. Her ears twitched at the sound of the forest and she was scenting the forest air as they moved.
Leafpaw forced himself not to take a step back as he watched his mentor kill the fish. He opened his mouth after his mentor's first statement but quickly found himself at a loss for words. He looked to the fish then back at his mentor after she grew silent. Under her critical, blue glaze, the apprentice found himself scrabbling for words. "I thought..." He started, looking to the fish as if it would give him the courage to speak. His ears twitched back and his tail slowly fell to the ground. "I thought I had killed it." The words felt horrible as they came out. "It stopped moving and...I thought it was dead. I'll try again though. I'll be better this time." He gave his mentor one quick glance to see if she was still mad.
