Ashpaw dropped the raven, eyes narrowed in faint annoyance at his mentor. "Let me see you try catching a bird that high up and having it try to fly off on you and still catch it without any trouble." He grunted half-heartedly, turning away towards camp, keeping his ears pricked for anything else that could potentially be hidden from view in the undergrowth. "Then you can call it whatever you want."

Haretooth leaned down to pick up the raven as well, his eyes narrowing as he followed after Ashpaw to the camp. He growled around the mouthful, cuffing Ashpaw around the ear with a sheathed paw for back-talking him. It was obvious he was more than likely no longer impressed, regardless of how good of a catch it was, as he tromped after him.

Ashpaw hissed loudly, darting further ahead to avoid further strikes from his mentor's darting paws. The young Tom's tail lashed in frustration, but this was practically a regular routine at this point for him. Not even Ashpaw could get along with Harespring for too long. He decided to ignore him for now in favor to returning his focus on the forest and the prey within.

I'm terrible at choosing. We could maybe have Night hunting/sunning with a fellow River Glider. Or maybe someone gets roped into checking on Melodyheart. I'm more interested in rping Melody as of right now but it would be less action-y. )

(welcome to PineClan newbies! I've updated everything on my end.)
Haretooth merely followed after him, not all that eager to catch up. All he was really eager for was to drop off this prey at the fresh-kill pile. He hoped Ashpaw wouldn't take too long in finding something else, if he found anything at all. It was well past sunhigh by now, and if they wanted to get to battle training, this next catch would have to be a quick one.

(I'll go ahead and start)
Minnowpaw let out a disgusted whine and she carefully trod across the camp with a stick clamped firmly in her jaws. A single strip of moss clung to the end of it, but the scent of the thing was practically overwhelming. Curse Claudette to the Dark Forest! The usually happy-go-lucky she-cat thought grimly and she wrinkled her nose against the foul odor. Minnowpaw had been partially horrified when Claudette had stopped her on her way to the freshkill pile, dropping the dang thing right at her paws. "You'll survive without a little food." The marbled tabby grumbled around the stick, wincing when the fumes invaded her mouth almost causing her to gag. The elder's den couldn't have come any sooner as the plump tabby entered into the hollowed log where the clan elders rested. Dropping the mousebile at her paws she glumly sighed. "I've come to take care of your ticks."
Ashpaw caught notice of a mouse darting past, no doubt startled by his earlier sprinting. The young tom darted off after it, catching it by the tail moments before it safely escaped into its burrow. He held it up, slightly amused watching the tiny creature frantically squeak and wriggle in its futile attempts to break free of the cat's grasp. He gave his head a good shake, flailing about his catch before releasing it to it fell a few paces beside him. The small brown creature landed with a thud, lying perfectly still after the shock of the impact. Ashpaw trapped it again, placing a firm paw on its tail so when it recovered and tried to run, he held it perfectly in pace.

Ahhh, it's been awhile since I rp'ed cats. Hopefully this is okay to start with.)
Leafpaw concentrated on the water below him. His copper eyes narrowed as light flickered off the cool liquid. The apprentice raised a little, black paw, letting it hover over the water. Even now, he hadn't caught a fish. Well, he had caught one before. In fact, he had caught at least a dozen. Leafpaw had never killed a fish before. Whenever he had managed to sink his claws into one, he became too...excited and would accidentally let the fish slip away. The memories disheartened the tom. All he wanted to do was catch and bring a fish back to camp. The very thought sent a happy thrill through the tom, even causing a quiet purr to rumble out. His tail waved happily in the air as he imaged his family smiling. He knew it was kit-ish and maybe a bit cliché of him to think that everyone could become happy just from a simple fish, but he truly wanted to please his brother and pay back Nightsplash for all she had done for them. Maybe he could even talk to the other River Glider apprentices, as he still needed to work up the nerve to actually hold a conversation. He froze when he saw a shadow flicker under the water. He leaned in closer to the water as he searched for a sign. Something moved. "Gotcha!" The tom yowled as he tried to scoop the fish out. All he got was a face full of water. An unhappy rumble came out of the tom as shook his head.

(That's alright, we're all a bit rusty. I think it was great cx )
Snowberry had been watching her apprentice from afar. She let out a tired sigh. This wasn't the first time Leafpaw had come home empty-pawed. The more it happened, the more frustrated the she-cat became. She rose to her paws and padded over to Leafpaw's side. "Leafpaw, you need to focus. The elders will go hungry if you don't catch anything. Fishing is easy, it's what we river gliders take pride in. Forest walkers and their clumsy paws could never do something we were meant to do," her tail curled and her chest puffed out slightly as she added the last bit. "You know how to fish, I've seen it before. But you need to pull it out and kill it. Catching onto one is only half the job."

Haretooth soon dropped Ashpaw's previous catches as he witnessed the current catch taking far too long. "Ashpaw!" he snarled. "Warriors do not play with their food. Make the kill, or let it go and go hungry. We hunt to eat, so you should be grateful that StarClan is sending prey running into your paws," he snapped, obviously furious by the grey tom's little game.

Melodyheart scented the apprentice before she had stepped into the den. Her eyes might be giving out on her, but her nose was still as sharp as ever. Cloudygaze could probably say the same. But such thoughts were sad and Melodyheart dismissed them on that basis. There was no sense in worrying about these inevitable things. If half these cats stopped moping around about what could be or what could happen, Melodyheart would have less silver fur. She smiled as Minnowpaw stated her purpose. While mousebile smell of foxdung, she could feel the ticks on the spots she could no longer reach. The bugs were a pain, quite literally, and wouldn't go away. However, the scent of mousebile would; she would just eat a fish or wash it away in the stream. She could feel her paws itch as she thought of the cool forest air and the leaves under her pads. She could stand a short walk to a stream. She didn't like getting her fur wet very much, but it was wet fur, which would dry in a sunbath, or the foul, lingering smell of mousebile. The sooner they got this over with, the sooner the elder could walk under the trees again. The elder beckoned the apprentice with her tail. "I'll go first. You can give Cloudygaze his peace for now. I think I have two on my back." She rasped before turning over.

Leafpaw kept his eyes locked on the water with his ears flicked back. Shame now trickled through the tom as his mentor spoke. Every word she spoke was the truth. He knew he was a rubbish at, what was basically, the river glider's specialty, but he loved fishing. It was thrilling and what he was meant to do. It felt right. He lifted and turned his head. His eyes were now wide and his ears were set forward. "I know, but it gets too exciting." The tom struggled to explain. When he said it out loud, it sounded foolish, even a bit fishbrained. He would just have to get over it, somehow. "Never mind. I'm gonna get the next one. Wait here." He said before turning his head so he could look at the water. He again tense with his paw hanging in the air. His tail tip lightly tapped the ground as he watched.

The apprentice grunted her acknowledgement of the elder's words, lifting the branch up and padding over to Melodyheart's side. Dropping the stick once more, the apprentice set to pawing through the black fur along the elder's spine, searching for any signs of the intrusive insects that she was there to take care of. She spotted the first one within moments of digging, happily gorging itself on the blood of the aging she-cat. Minnowpaw reached down to grab hold of the stick, dabbing a bit of the reeking moss on its bulbous body till it released its hold on the elder and tumbled to the earth below.
Ashpaw snorted, pressing a paw against its spine till he heard the familiar crack of the small creature's spine and the mouse fell limp. Picking them up, Ashpaw turned and continued trotting off towards camp. "They're a bunch of dead cats. How could they possibly influence how much prey is in the forest? We're the ones who work our tails off to catch it after all."

Snowberry sighed, shaking her head and closing her eyes. "What am I going to do with you?" she murmured softly to herself. She sat again, curling her tail neatly over her paws and watching, with the slightest hope, that Leafpaw would actually manage to catch something this time. I don't need Floodstar judging my abilities to mentor when my apprentice won't learn, she thought with a twitch of her whiskers.
Haretooth picked up the squirrel and the raven, following his apprentice back to camp. "Our belief in them is what binds us as a clan. Without it, we'd just be a group of rogues. It is important that you trust in them and what happens because of them," he mumbled around the mouthful of prey in his jaws.

(Don't worry, I understand completely. I'm gonna have to work the next two evenings myself, counting this one. I'll go ahead and start.)
Ebonysong was sunning herself near the far side of the camp. She had returned from a hunting patrol earlier in the day, just before sunhigh, and was now taking some time to relax for herself. She had been napping for about an hour or two when she felt an invisible presence awake her. It was most likely her subconscious telling her not to waste time snoozing all day, much as she would like to. After all, the clear skies allowed sunlight to settle on the camp, and her black pelt absorbed it with ease. It was refreshing really. As the forest walker blinked sleep out of her eyes, she soon noticed her deputy Pebblesplash making her way over to her resting location. "Hello Ebonysong. I was wondering if you could take a small evening patrol out to the southern border by the Twolegplace?" she asked.
The black warrior let out a yawn and stretched her limbs as she rose to her paws. "Sure thing. Who should I take with me?"
The deputy looked around the camp to see who was available. "Take Dawnwarbler with you," she answered before turning away.
Ebonysong dipped her head and response and made her way across the camp, looking for said warrior that she was assigned to take with her.
