The fresh taste of rabbit was still fresh on the WindClanner's tongue. While the sweet blood caused a purr to ripple down the feline's throat, the acrid tang of ShadowClan caused the cat to wrinkle up her nose. Eating the rabbit where she had had been a sacrifice she had to make, but it was the only way she knew she would get ShadowClan's attention quick. Her claws ached to strike out at a ShadowClan warrior. Birchstar was a fool to think that the two Clans could get along.
Eaglefoot huffed, lashing her tail. Not too far from where she was hid Antwing, a powerful warrior. He was Eaglefoot's second in command basically, his temper sharp and nasty, and because of that others feared him. Not many challenged him, and if they did, they never got past Eaglefoot. She always made sure to shut down any cat that dared cross her.
Even if it was just her and Antwing, Eaglefoot felt confident in her ability as a warrior to send any mangy-pelted ShadowClan warrior running. She was more muscular than the typical WindClan cat. Power rippled under her brown pelt as she paced atop peaty ground. Her only reason for crossing the border was to start something, and she was intent on seeing it through to the end - an end that involved leaving ShadowClan warriors unable to chase her back.

Autumnbreeze and her patrol sat hidden in the shadows. Their dark pelts camouflaging with their dark surroundings. The black and ginger she-cat peeled her lip back in a snarl at what she saw. Two WindClan cats just waiting for them to give them the beating of a lifetime. "Two of you come with me. Blackstripe and Flameshade." She began in the lightest voice so she wouldn't be heard. The two toms were quiet the duo. Both of them were very hot-headed and two of ShadowClan's greatest fighters. Two of Nightstar's most loyal warriors as well. "When they attack, the other two of you jump out in help. Hopefully Pinepaw and the other's will be back soon."
Everyone seemed to agree with her plan. And she felt pride overwhelming her at the thought of being so respected for her wise plans. Without another word, she and the other two warriors came away from their hiding places to confront the WindClan warriors. She gave away nothing in her facial expressions, but inside rage was eating at her, just at the sight of how calm these cats looked about being on their territory and killing their prey.
"I believe your on our territory." Autumnbreeze began cooly, tail swishing behind her. And she could feel the tension sparking off each cat in the area. "And I also believe you've hunted prey on our territory. I hope you've remembered the penalty for that." Blackstripe and Flameshade each slipped their claws from their sheaths and Autumnbreeze could here low growls rumbling in their throats. "Just recently, you've come here looking for peace. And now your wondering over our borders." She purred, shooting green daggers at Eaglefoot. "Quiet amusing, hmm Blackstripe?"
The silver tabby peeled his lip back in a threatening snarl. "Leave now, or suffer later!"

An amused smirk curled up Eaglefoot's lip when she caught sight of a ShadowClan patrol. While the patrol held three cats, meaning she was outnumbered by one, she still felt confident enough in her skills to not be afraid. She accepted the challenge with haste. With Antwing at her side she would certainly come out victorious. Speaking of the tom... Eaglefoot gestured with her tail for the reddish-brown tom to step forward. The small, lithe warrior stepped out to stand beside the much larger she-cat, and for what he lacked in size, he made up with intimidation. His thin pelt was bristled out, making him look much larger. His amber eyes were narrowed dangerously, his claws already unsheathed. It was clear what he wanted, and while Eaglefoot was still unfazed, it was clear what she wanted as well.
Eaglefoot snorted as Autumnbreeze began to speak. She eyed the dark-furred she-cat with distaste flickering in her amber eyes. "Any WindClan cat looking for peace is weak-hearted. There's no such thing as peace when it comes to ShadowClan scavengers," she spat the word with such venom that even Antwing seemed to flinch underneath his own pelt. But the tom soon regained his composure, snarling at the ShadowClan cats.
"You'll be the ones suffering," he hissed through clenched teeth. "What threat do crow-food eaters even have?" Antwing lashed his tail as the words tumbled from his jaws. ShadowClan cats were so arrogant and full of themselves... It was time they were knocked off their high horse once and for all.
Eaglefoot glanced at her Clanmate before sharply eyeing Blackstripe, Flameshade, and Autumnbreeze. "How cute. Little buzzards are trying to protect their land. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic," the brown tabby hissed, her fur now bristling and claws unsheathing. She couldn't hold herself from jumping at one of these cats for much longer.

Autumnbreeze growled, finally unsheathing her own claws. Eaglefoot was thinking this all as a joke. But the ShadowClan cats were actually taking this seriously. But if it was a game she wanted it was a game she was going to get. "Crow-food eaters? How rude to treat someone on their own property." The black and ginger tortoiseshell signaled with her tail and the rest of the patrol slipped out of their hiding places, taking their places beside Flameshade and Blackstripe.
"Last chance to surrender. Go on, run along to your o' so great leader, Birchstar." She spat the cream tabby's name like venom, her tail beginning to lash angrily. "Tell her how your little peace meeting went." But before Eaglefoot could get her answer out, Blackstripe and Flameshade had already launched themselves at Antwing as one. Immediately vicious yowls and hisses erupted in the air. And Autumnbreeze didn't hesitate long before tackling Eaglefoot to the ground, the dark gray she-cat, Smokyfeather at her side. Throwing a few well-aimed blows to Eaglefoot's face, while Smokyfeather pinned her down, raking her claws down the WindClan cat's back.
The last of the cats, Blackstripe's apprentice, Toadpaw, stayed along the outskirts of the battle. Clawing and nipping whatever he could while the warrior's handled each other.

Hearing Birchstar's name sent a new rush of anger through Eaglefoot. That rabbit-hearted cat... Just because they were kin meant nothing to Eaglefoot. Of all cats that Cloudstar had picked as his deputy, as his successor, Birchstar had been the last cat in Eaglefoot's mind. Birchstar was too willing to let other cats and Clans walk all over her. She was too peaceful. Eaglefoot had to agree that peace was good at times, but peace couldn't solve every disagreement. Battle solved many things, and this hostility toward ShadowClan could only be solved with unsheathed claws. How could Birchstar not see that? If Eaglefoot had been named as deputy, and then leader, then WindClan would have already had ShadowClan bowing at their paws.
There was no time for any more insults to fly. Eaglefoot was now thrust into battle, claws lashing out to hit fur and flesh. Pain erupted against Eaglefoot's cheeks and muzzle, but she gritted her teeth and stayed strong even as her back tingled with fresh pain. The brown tabby squirmed underneath Smokyfeather, coiling around like a snake to grab the she-cat's leg with her sharp fangs. She would deal with Autummbreeze once she had Smokyfeather down.
On the other side of the battle Antwing was defending himself from Blackstripe and Flameshade. The lithe WindClan warrior was able to avoid the two enemy toms for the most part with his speed. A few scratches laced his muzzle and flanks, but nothing was serious as of yet. With a growl he launched forward, aiming at Flameshade with his unsheathed claws aimed right for the ShadowClan tom's face.

Smokyfeather let out a hiss of pain as sharp teeth sank into her foreleg. Lashing out at Eaglefoot's forehead more than once. Trying her best to get the she-cat off her leg. Autumnbreeze dove right in to help her clanmate, biting down hard onto Eaglefoot's tail, not daring to let go. How dared these WindClan cats! Starting trouble on their own territory. "You need to learn to stay in your place, you rabbit-chasing freak! ShadowClan will never give in. So give up now." She snarled, her voice muffled from her grip on the rival cat's tail. Without any more threats, the tortoiseshell sank her foreclaws into the feminine's haunches. Trying her best to pull the slightly bigger cat away from her clanmate.
Flameshade narrowed his eyes, readying himself for Antwing to land. When the tom's outstretched claws came closer to his face, the dark ginger tabby crouched down, butting his head into the WindClan cat's stomach exceptionally hard. Blackstripe rushing forward and tackling the brown tabby to the ground. Blackstripe and Antwing were both equal in size and both were quiet intimidating to look at. Unlike Flameshade, who was much smaller than both of them. But still fairly muscular.

Satisfaction coiled inside Eaglefoot’s stomach when she felt her fangs connect with flesh. She bit down as hard as she could in the time she had Smokyfeather’s foreleg in her jaws. It wasn’t long before the WindClanner was knocked off of her target by Autumnbreeze. Eaglefoot lashed her tail, stifling back a yowl when her tail was bit into. She jerked forward, pulling her tail out of the enemy’s fangs. ”I’m just doing my best to chase rogues out of these lands,” Eaglefoot snarled when she felt claws dig into her haunches. The brown tabby ripped away, quickly and nimbly turning to face Autumnbreeze with a deep snarl vibrating against her throat.
Antwing was no match for both Flameshade and Blackstripe. He was a decent fighter, but he lacked the muscle to overpower two ShadowClan warriors despite their own sizes. The red-brown tabby ungracefully fell as Blackstripe tackled him down; looking up at the other tom he flashed his fangs in a snarl, lashing out, almost pathetically, at his attackers. He wasn’t going to give up that easily.
Not being too far from the border, the sounds of fighting had been heard by a passing by WindClan patrol. It wasn’t even really a patrol, just a mentor and his apprentice out for some training. Having heard the yowls and snarls not too far across the border, Icetail and his apprentice, Lionpaw, came rushing through the swampy undergrowth of ShadowClan territory. ”Eaglefoot! Antwing!” The white tom called out to his struggling Clanmates, fur bristling as Lionpaw came tumbling after his mentor with wide amber eyes glued to the fighting cats.

Autumnbreeze's green eyes widened at the sight of more cats. They were just evenly numbered now. Guess this wouldn't be so easy after all. The she-cat flicked her tail to Smokyfeather, but before she could give out an order, the dark gray she-cat had already barreled herself into the white WindClan warrior. Toadpaw right at her heels, aiming at Lionpaw. Hmph, at least their busy with things now. The she-cat seemed to forget all about Eaglefoot. Her thoughts slowly beginning to wonder.
Blackstripe sneered, raking his hindclaws along Antwing's belly, not caring if his companion was still helping out or not. "What's the matter? Too much for ya'? Is the o' so great and powerful Antwing getting tired now?"

Icetail gritted his teeth as he was thrust right into the middle of battle. He unsheathed his claws, aiming them right at Smokyfeather as soon as he noticed that the she-cat was coming toward him. The white warrior hissed, barely able to dodge the she-cat as she tried barreling into him. From the corner of his eyes he could see Toadpaw and Lionpaw battling now. The golden tabby apprentice was hissing and spitting, crouching right before he leaped at Toadpaw in hopes of knocking the ShadowClan apprentice down.
Eaglefoot took Autumnbreeze's distraction into her own favor. Despite her body screaming at her because of all the reckless scratches she already had, the tabby raced forward, hoping to knock the dark tortoiseshell right onto the ground so she could pin Autumnbreeze down.
A growl escaped Antwing's throat. He then bit back a hiss of pain as Blackstripe's claws raked against his delicate belly. "Buzzard-heart!" The tabby spat, pushing up with his hind legs in hopes of pushing the other tom away from him. "WindClan cats never get tired!"

Autumnbreeze let out a gasp as she was tackled to the ground. Thrashing around wildly, trying to free herself from her attackers grip. But the ShadowClan warrior couldn't move. Instantly, she went limp, trying her best to slip from underneath the WindClan cat, but her thick pelt wouldn't let her. A low growl rumbled in her throat, what was she thinking? Stopping to look around in the mist of a battle! Such a dumb move!
Blackstripe stumbled back, landing on his rump as he was kicked off of Antwing. "Good, cause ShadowClan cats never sleep. I've got all day and all night to kick your tail!" The silver tabby then launched himself back at the tom, not daring to give him time to stand. And where was Flameshade? Such a disgrace! Blackstripe may have trusted the younger tom, but he didn't exactly like him. Redstripe would never back down from a fight. And where was that pesky apprentice anyways? They could use some reinforcements right about now.

A low grumble of amusement slipped from Eaglefoot's maw. Amber eyes glared down at the struggling ShadowClan warrior as she held on tight. "Not so cocky now are we?" She asked with a hiss as she sank her claws into Autumnbreeze's pelt, waiting for the sweet feeling of flesh to soon hit her claws. In this position, Eaglefoot mused, she could kill Autumnbreeze if she tried hard enough to do so, but she wasn't going to do that. She was going to let the ShadowClan warrior run off knowing that WindClan shouldn't be messed with.
Antwing took in a deep breath. Was he finally getting a break? He glared at Blackstripe, hissing as he tried to stumble back onto his paws after throwing the other warrior off, but he was too slow on the draw. Before he knew it Antwing was rolling back on the ground, his tabby fur getting caught in thick briars. The WindClanner bit back a yelp. He was beat, he knew he was, but his pride wasn't letting him turn tail and run, at least not yet, and not when Eaglefoot was more than likely still aware of him. "You mangy fox-heart," Antwing growled, twisting around to get back onto his paws after his fall.

Autumnbreeze looked up into the eyes of the WindClan cat. Jaws opening to spit profanity, but she was interrupted by a yowl that split the air. The cats around her seemed to freeze at the sudden noise. The tortoiseshell glanced behind Eaglefoot to see a patrol of four more ShadowClan warriors racing towards them. Redstripe in the lead.
"Get your filthy paws off of her!" The russet-brown tabby hissed as he launched himself at Eaglefoot. Shoving her away from his clanmate and standing with his tail-lashing, and fur bristling with fury. The tom looked quiet intimidating at the moment. Autumnbreeze got up to her paws and shook out her pelt. Her pelt stinging all over from the minor scratches Eaglefoot had left upon her pelt. When had regained her strength the tortoiseshell pushed past Redstripe and slashed her claws along the side of Eaglefoot's face, but soon was shouldered away once more. "Stop this at once!" The order was directed to all the cats in the clearing. His amber gaze smoldering into Eaglefoot.
Blackstripe had Antwing's scruff held tightly into his jaws when Redstripe's demanding yowl rang out in the clearing. He growled before shoving the WindClan cat to the ground, his pelt still bristling and his claws were still unsheathed.
Smokyfeather immediately stopped her small fight with the white WindClan warrior. Since neither of them bore a lot of wounds and the fight had honestly gotten no where. Toadpaw on the other paw seemed to not hear Redstripe's order for he was still battling the WindClan apprentice, Lionpaw. Blackstripe had to run over and separate the two so they could listen.

Oh great, more filthy ShadowClan cats.
Eaglefoot flattened her ears, about to spit something venomously before Redstripe pushed her away. She staggered, regaining her balance swiftly. Her tail lashed in annoyance, amber eyes blazing with the hunger of battle. No matter what the ShadowClan deputy looked like, Eaglefoot was ready for more. For a moment she looked at Autumnbreeze. Satisfaction pooled in her when she noticed the scratches and marks she had left on Autumnbreeze. Good, she thought with a smirk. Now she’ll never forget me. The smirk was soon literally smacked off her face when Autumnbreeze came forward and racked her claws down Eaglefoot’s face. The brown tabby hissed, recoiling back as warm blood trickled down the bridge of her nose. ”Why you lit-” She was stopped when Icetail rushed over. He had lost a few patches of hair, but other than that, he didn’t seem too injured. His ears were flat against his head, anger sparking in his amber gaze. He paused for a moment, noticing something wasn’t right.
”Lionpaw!” He called for his apprentice, looking behind him. He immediately spotted his apprentice still squabbling with Toadpaw until Blackstripe pulled the two away. Lionpaw, looking cross with annoyance, stalked over to Icetail once he was called and realized the battle was over. He had a limp and a nasty cut along his hind leg, but nothing he wouldn’t recover from.
Before long Antwing slipped over, bleeding and out of breath. He seemed to have gotten the worst of them all, but his life wasn’t in any danger still. Overall the battle had been somewhat tame compared to what usually happened between WindClan and ShadowClan.
With her cats gathered beside her, Eaglefoot shot a dark glare at Redstripe. ”Afraid of losing to WindClan cats?” She spat with a lash of her tail. ”You honestly think you can get rid of this that easily?” She wasn’t scared of Redstripe, or any of these ShadowClanners. She was Eaglefoot. She had nothing to be afraid of.

Redstripe lifted his chin boldly, amber eyes gleaming as he looked down at Eaglefoot. "ShadowClan? Afraid of you pesky moorland rats?" He scoffed, glancing over at Blackstripe in disbelief. "Hmph, let me know when hedgehogs start flying." The tom's tail swished from side to side as he eyed the smaller WindClan patrol. "And besides, there's nothing here worth fighting for. All I see is a kit, a bedraggled elder, an idiot sidekick, and a she-cat whose got her hopes up a little too high." He singled out each WindClanner equally, a few amused murmurs coming from his clanmates.
Blackstripe couldn't help but smirking as the deputy began to tell the rival cats off. Challenging any of them to show their anger. It was easily a sign of weakness if they were offended by Redstripe's silly little comments. The tom had always played around with his prey before going in for the kill. It was what Blackstripe had admired of the tabby. He would be a brilliant leader one day.
"Leave now. Your easily outnumbered. There's ten of us and four of you." Or at least there should have been ten. Where was Flameshade? Didn't I assign him to this patrol? But with or without Flameshade, the WindClan cats were outnumbered and it would be a little too easy to drive them out. with four more warriors to help out.

Low growls continued to come from Eaglefoot. The noise was echoed by Icetail as well. Even if he hadn't participated in the fighting from the start, he was still itching with the adrenaline that came with battle. He was typically a calm and well-mannered cat, but when it came to ShadowClan he was more than ready to fight. His father was Cloudstar, and Icetail blamed ShadowClan for the death of his father. He didn't want to admit that old age had been a big factor in Cloudstar's death, but Icetail was sure something that ShadowClan had done made his father's death much faster. For that he was angry.
Eaglefoot grumbled something under her breath before raising her head high and glared down at Redstripe. "You'll regret ever saying that one day. You better watch your back, ShadowClan." There was something unspoken in her mew, something that left a silent challenge toward the enemy Clan. Just because Birchstar and a few of her hare-brained followers want peace doesn't mean the rest of the Clan does. Birchstar is weak. All of WindClan will soon notice that and then I'll be able to lead us into a true battle. A battle that ShadowClan would surely lose.
Redstripe was right as much as she hated to admit it. There were only four of them and ten ShadowClan warriors. They were heavily outnumbered. Eaglefoot was confident in her strength, but Antwing was already lost if he jumped into battle again. Icetail was ready to fight for longer, but he was an older warrior. Then there was Lionpaw. He was barely an apprentice so it was like fighting with an untrained kit on their side. ShadowClan had won this one.
With a snort Eaglefoot motioned for the WindClan cats to follow her. She turned on her paws to head back to the moor but she glanced to shoot a glare at the ShadowClan deputy one last time. "Don't think this is over. You'll soon see what WindClan can really do." With that she padded away, Icetail, Lionpaw, and Antwing trailing behind her in bitter silence.

"If hunting on another Clan's territory is one move, I'm not sure I'd like to see what other scavenge like techniques you have planned." Redstripe called after the now leaving WindClan patrol.
The silver tabby beside him gave a warning yowl. "If we catch you hunting here again, it will be worse than a small border fight!"
Redstripe frowned, glancing over at Blackstripe for a brief second. Was he hinting at death? Hopefully WindClan aren't dumb enough to do it again. This is really getting out of hand. This would never have happened when he was younger, nothing but a kit. Back when Nightstar was just Nightshade, the ShadowClan deputy. WindClan and ShadowClan were just fine back then. They had never had any problems. But everything seemed to change when Nightstar became leader. He and Cloudstar had never gotten along well when they were warriors. And that just was what set everything off.
"Alright, let's head back to camp. Nightstar would want to hear about WindClan's defeat."
-------
(So I was thinking that maybe Redstripe goes to WindClan or there is a gathering. But I wasn't sure which one to go with since both are a little tempting.)

A lash of the tail was all Eaglefoot showed of her growing frustration toward the ShadowClan cats. She paused right before dipping into shadows, amber eyes slight with angry fire. "When we cross paths again you'll all wish you had never been kitted," the she-cat spat furiously. Eaglefoot did't take defeat lightly, but she knew now that she had to up the stakes if she wanted full out war. The tabby was prepared to do anything it took to get claws unsheathed, and already a plan was brewing in her mind.
---- Ohh, hmm. Perhaps we could do Redstripe coming to WindClan and then lead up to a gathering? c:

The sun had barely risen by the time Redstripe left camp. Fresh dew were clear on the pine needles beneath his paws, and dripped down on him from up high in the trees. It hadn't been easy sneaking out, but it hadn't been to hard either. Autumnbreeze had caught him while he was just pushing out of the camp entrance. He'd told her he was just going out to hunt, and she'd volunteered to come with him. But he turned her offer down. For he wasn't even going hunting. He was going to visit WindClan.
It'd been a few days since Eaglefoot's shenanigan. And Redstripe couldn't stop thinking about what'd happened. Nightstar had ordered the border patrols to increase. So now there were four total patrols sent out everyday. Three were assigned to the WindClan border while the fourth patrol took care of all the other borders. It wasn't completely mouse-brained. Despite how much he wanted peace, WindClan weren't going to give them the peace they deserved. After Birchstar's meeting with Nightstar, Redstripe had spoken with his leader. And Nightstar, surprisingly, agreed. I'm getting to old for all of this. So if those WindClanners are willing, it is peace they will receive. But if not, a war will break out. I can guarantee you that. Were his exact words. But now there were no more chances of peace. Nightstar had made his final decision. A war was coming.
As Redstripe crossed the thunder path, faint sunlight began to shine through the clouds. Casting pink shadows on the moorland. He didn't hesitate before crossing the border. Since WindClan have no problem with crossing ours. And hopefully Birchstar would be accepting of him. They had been associates for a long time now. Hopefully Eaglefoot hadn't gotten through to her head yet.

Paws trekked silently over the dewy moorland as dawn washed over the skies. A pallid, watery light cast over the purple heather that covered the open space. Four cats quietly padded closer and closer to the, currently, deserted Thunderpath. The stench brought a curl over one of the cat’s lips, a young golden-brown tabby she-cat. A black tom flicked his tail toward her, nudging her onward as he mewed something softly to the young feline. The black tom, the patrol’s leader, then picked up his pace, only stopping when the Thunderpath came into view through the thick heather. All seemed clear from here to the ShadowClan border. Ever since Eaglefoot’s little stunt, Birchstar had grudgingly ordered more patrols to be sent to check on the ShadowClan border. If her sister had been so bold as to directly attack ShadowClan in their own territory, Birchstar knew it would only be time before Nightstar ordered for his own cats to trek across the border to stir trouble. Having upped the patrols to that part of the territory would increase the chances of knowing when an invasion was happening.
A thicker pine scent washed over Houndear. He paused, gesturing with his tail for the other three cats following him to pause. ”ShadowClan scent is thicker here,” he murmured just loud enough for the other felines to hear.
A small tabby allowed the fur along his spine bristle slightly. ”If one of those ShadowClan rats have crossed our border…”
”Hush, Antwing,” Houndear muttered as he shot a glance to the small tabby.
Antwing grumbled but otherwise remained silent. Cuts and scrapes still showed against his thin pelt from the other day. While he was able to continue with his warrior duties, Birchstar had seen to it that the cats that had crossed into ShadowClan territory did not patrol together. The leader had talked with her deputy about that to make sure the troublemakers stayed out of trouble.
A broad-shouldered russet-brown tabby tom perked his ears up as something caught his attention. ”Houndear,” he mewed, gesturing with his ear toward the rising sun.
Houndear glanced to the other tom, Hickoryburn, for a quick moment. His green gaze then darted over to where Hickoryburn gestured to. Movement rustled in the gorse made Houndear narrow his eyes in thought. Then realization hit him squarely in the face. ShadowClan!
Before he jumped to conclusions, Houndear drew in a deep breath. He looked to his patrol with a stern voice as he ordered, ”Hickoryburn, Antwing, stay here. Goldenpaw, stay with them. If I’m not back soon, Goldenpaw, race back to camp for help. Hickoryburn, Antwing, you’ll follow my trail.” He waited until there was approval from all cats of his group before he stealthily padded closer to the movement that reeked of ShadowClan.
When Houndear drew closer, he paused, a familiar pelt grabbing his attention. ”Redstripe?” He called out questioningly. If it was the deputy then surely this wasn’t a planned attack; Redstripe had seemed so tired of this hostility between the two Clans. No other cats seemed to be with him, so what exactly was he up to?

Redstripe's ears perked as his name was called, looking around until his amber eyes landed on the black tomcat, Houndear. "Ah, finally. I'd guessed I would have to walk all the way to the camp before I actually found WindClan cats." He mewed, a humorous tone in his meow. The tabby kept his distance as he looked behind Houndear. A patrol standing out so obviously in the heather. This was anything but like his territory. Standing out for everyone to see? The tom couldn't help feeling uncomfortable out in the open.
But this wasn't what was important as of right now. "But I came to speak with Birchstar if one of your patrolmates didn't mind escorting me." He eyed the patrol curiously. Perhaps Hickoryburn or Houndear himself could take him there. He didn't trust Antwing at the moment and he doubted they'd make an apprentice escort him to meet Birchstar. "I've got some really important things to discuss with her. About borders and such." And also how to take dominance over her warriors! He added privately, swishing his tail over the heather.
And Redstripe was lucky he'd even come across this dawn patrol. StarClan knew where their camp was in all of this grass and heather, and more heather!

A surge of relief washed over Houndear as Redstripe cracked something like a joke. The light tone in the ShadowClan cat's voice meant that this was nothing like an attack. They were safe. Houndear offered a faint smile to the reddish tabby. "Luckily we were here then." His whiskers twitched with silent laughter as he turned to glance to his patrol. He gestured with his tail for Redstripe to tag along. "Hickoryburn, could you finish the patrol? I'll bring Redstripe to camp." As he spoke he shot a quick glance toward Antwing, noticing that the small tom was flattening his ears against his head.
Hickoryburn flicked his tail over Antwing's flank in silent warning. "Of course, Houndear." He dipped his head to the black warrior.
Before Houndear could say or do anything else, his apprentice, Goldenpaw perked up her ears, fur fluffed out in excitement and dark curiousity. "I thought the border smelled bad, but an actual ShadowClan cat is worse!" She squeaked, amber eyes going round. "Are you really bringing him to camp?"
Houndear chuckled softly, leaning forward to nudge the she-cat. "Hush, Goldenpaw. Be friendly. I'm sure he thinks we smell horrible. He's here as a visitor to speak with Birchstar. Finish the patrol with Hickoryburn and Antwing, alright? Later today I'll take you hunting."
At the promise of hunting Goldenpaw trembled with excitement. She nodded to her mentor. "Alright!" Her voice was high with the excitement. She trembled with excited anticipation. Now she really had something to look forward to today.
With that taken care of, Houndear looked over at Redstripe. "Come on. Camp is just beyond that second rise." Houndear nodded in the direction of a second ridge in the distance. They would be at the camp in no time, especially with the wind behind them.

Redstriped purred in amusement, watching Goldenpaw bound away before following after the black WindClan tom. "Quiet a ball of energy you've got on your paws." He wished his own apprentice could be so energetic and enthused by her training. She was always too focused on becoming a well-respected cat like him, Blackstripe, and Nightstar, whom was her father afterall, that she couldn't take the time out to make friends with her fellow apprentices or even play. The dullest apprentice in ShadowClan. Even Pinepaw outdid her, and he was the most wrapped up in the warrior code than all of his denmates.
As Houndear led him to the camp, Redstripe couldn't help feeling a tad bit uncomfortable. How could this cats live in this open? Where were the shadows? The trees? The undergrowth to hide in? Glad I'm not a WindClan cat. Besides, he was nothing like a WindClan cat. With his powerful muscles for climbing and the fact that he was a natural born forest hunter. Never in StarClan did he wish to be a WindClan cat. But I suppose they feel the same about the forest.
(Sorry this is short, I'm a bit busy today.)

A chuckle slipped from the black warrior's maw. He glanced at Redstripe in amusement. "That I do. Her energy will make her a fine warrior when her time comes, but she also needs to learn that being calm is important as well." His whiskers twitched with silent amusement as he slipped past a few reed stalks. His ears perked up, pace slowing down just a tad when they had finally crossed the top of the second rise. Houndear soon paused to eye his companion. "We're here." Houndear waited a moment before turning on his paws and padding into a dip in the land. Thick clumps of gorse, heather, and bracken gave way to a well protected dip in the ground. The earth below paw turned sandy. To Houndear the open skies and sandy soil of camp was home to him, but he could only imagine how uneasy this would make Redstripe.
Houndear was snapped from his thoughts when he heard a mixture of uneasy murmuring and angry hisses coming from the nearby dens. His green gaze glanced around, catching sight of a few notable warriors mingling on the edge of camp. Eaglefoot was one of those cats. She bared her fangs in Redstripe's direction, looking eager to start something. Luckily she was unable to do anything else as a voice echoed around the camp. "Houndear, I see you have brought us a visitor."
The cream tabby pelt of Birchstar appeared from a well sheltered den toward the back of camp. Obvious surprise flickered in her gaze for a moment as she rested her amber eyes on Redstripe. What was the ShadowClan deputy doing here? Had something happened? Had Nightstar thought about her talk of peace some more? Swallowing down her surprise, she gestured for Redstripe to step over. "You'll be treated with kindness while you are here." A low growl from Eaglefoot made Birchstar's pelt prickle with unease. If she had anything to do with it Redstripe would see nothing but acceptance in her camp. "What brings you here?" Her unease was replaced with hollow hope. Had Nightstar called for peace at last?

Redstripe entered the camp with his head and tail held high. Sure he was in the WindClan camp, but he wasn't about to be intimidated. The deputy easily ignored the threats and offence terms that were thrown at him. Keeping a straight face as Eaglefoot, of all cats, dared growling at him after the beating she'd received yesterday. But before Eaglefoot to do anything else, Birchstar finally emerged from her den. Redstripe dipped her head as the WindClan leader began speaking, shooting a smug look over at Eaglefoot. Hmph, she'll never learn. As if I'm really going to seriously disrespect someone on their own territory!
"Thank you Birchstar, I come here offering nothing but a peaceful conversation, if you'll have me." He meowed, glancing back up at Birchstar, knowing she would accept him after he'd let her and Houndear on his territory. Or at least he hoped she would accept this opportunity to speak with him. Of course Nightstar had nothing to do with this meeting. Though Redstripe had gave him the smallest hint that he was going to visit Birchstar, and his leader seemed to accept of it. Now all he had to see was if Birchstar would accept of this.

Birchstar could only hope that her Clan would be civil enough while Redstripe was around; she hated the idea of letting the ShadowClan deputy know just how divided her Clan really was, and as leader, she should be able to put every cat in their place. Even if she thought only good things about Redstripe, she didn't want even him to see how her leadership was off to an awful start.
The she-cat tried to push aside these thoughts for the time being. She motioned with her tail for Redstripe to follow her into her den. "Of course I'll have you." For now she was keeping her voice steady and calm, neutral really. Once the two were in her den would she be more open and even questioning. What had Nightstar said? Why had Redstripe come into enemy territory alone? If Houndear's patrol hadn't been the one to find him... Birchstar internally shuddered. She didn't want to think of that.
Settling into her den, Birchstar turned to make sure Redstripe had followed. She nodded to an empty space near her nest as she sat down. "Have a seat. I'm sure you have quite a bit to say," she mewed, amber eyes glistening with wonder.

Redstripe nodded, trotting after Birchstar with his head held high. Refusing to let go of his pride no matter how hard the WindClanner's tried to bring him down. Besides, I'm not going to embarrass myself in another Clan's camp. He'd never hear the end of it then. And what if Nightstar found out about his private conversation with the WindClan leader. I don't even want to think about that. The tabby would be in so much trouble. Perhaps even removed from his position as deputy. Redstripe uneasily and absently twitched his ear at the thought of being replaced. He'd worked too hard to get up to his rank, all he needed was to be ranked down to average warrior again. I'd better make this quick if I want to return to camp unnoticed.
The ShadowClan sat a few tail-lengths away from the pale tabby as they entered her den. Curling his thick tail over his paws. Everything in the WindClan camp seemed so foreign to Redstripe. The open skies, the lack of brambles and bushes, and he couldn't forget the terrible scent they carried. For a moment he couldn't realize why he'd come here in the first place. To bring peace between our Clans. He reminded himself, taking a deep breath before meeting Birchstar's amber gaze. "Birchstar, not long ago you came to our camp asking for peace between ShadowClan and WindClan. And as you obviously know, some of your cats decided to trespass on our territory as a game. And we both know this isn't the first time those same two cats have disrespected our boundaries. And I don't by any means wish to offend you by what I'm about to advise to you." Redstripe paused, looking at the rival leader with pure seriousness. "I don't think your putting much of an influence on your Clan." And he was sure the rest of WindClan thought the same thing. He could tell by the simple choices they made. And by how certain cats in particular speak about Birchstar. He thought, recalling back to the border fight not to long ago and how Eaglefoot had acknowledged her sister. "I mean, things between our Clan won't get any better if WindClan, through their eyes, see a weak leader guiding them, someone who doesn't prove her point and make them understand why she's making the choices she's making. But- but not that I'm saying your weak, I actually think that your a very intelligent and skilled choice for leader...."
Redstripe found himself fumbling for words, unsure on how to assure her that he wasn't telling her that she was a poor leader. What did he know anyways? Birchstar'd probably tried numerous times why she wanted peace between their Clans. The deputy cleared his throat, forcing himself to look back up at the WindClan leader. "But what I'm saying is, I think you should try another strategy for your warriors. All I want is a break. My clanmates are getting fed up and.... no doubt, a battle is soon to come." He shouldn't have been warning Birchstar about Nightstar's plans, but she had to do something. She had to try and make Eaglefoot understand. If only I could watch in her paws. I'd surely put that fox-heart in her correct place.

It must be somewhat intimidating for Redstripe to be in the WindClan camp all by himself. Not that he was scared of being surrounded by the enemy, but because of how he would be used to an entirely different variety of territory. This wasn't what he was used to. Birchstar knew she felt out of place when she had visited the ShadowClan camp just the other day. The tabby knew how odd it was for a cat of another Clan to visit another. Redstripe was out of his element.
Her thoughts veered off when Redstripe met her gaze. She steadied her thoughts, ears angling toward the tabby to show she was intent and truly listening to what he had to say. Birchstar allowed him to go on with what he said before she closed her eyes and drew in a deep breath. So it was that obvious? Of course it was. With Eaglefoot's influence over her Clan... Dear StarClan, please keep WindClan together. Birchstar opened her eyes back, looking directly at Redstripe with a somewhat guarded gaze. Should she tell the deputy of an enemy Clan about what had went down with WindClan's politics seasons ago? Almost every cat in the Clan had assumed Eaglefoot would have been chosen as deputy, and when Cloudstar had announced Birchnose as deputy, the Clan went crazy. Why had the leader chosen Birchnose of all cats? Not even Birchstar knew what had exactly gone through the leader's mind. Many cats had then thought that Cloudstar would rename his choice of deputy later, especially when it was very obvious that Birchstar had been against his wishes to keep battling ShadowClan. Every cat had been so set on seeing Eaglefoot as their leader... Birchstar shook her head. Now wasn't the time to think about such things. "I see where you're coming from, Redstripe." And she truly did. The tabby knew she wasn't as strong of a leader as she wished to be, but even if she was a stronger leader, Eaglefoot had her ways of getting what she wanted from others. She was a sly fox. Something needed to be done about that; foxes were a danger to every Clan, and having one living among cats was only a disaster waiting to happen.
"I'll do all I can," she mewed after a moment. "There are cats in WindClan that wish for peace, it's not just me. If we try harder... If I try harder..." The leader felt her words slip off her tongue without being finished, yet there was no way she could fish any other words out. "There's no need for a battle, even you understand that, Redstripe, but there's no way one can be avoided if my cats continue acting like foxes. It's about time the problem is dealt with." And she was going to deal with those foxes like any true warrior would - show them who was the true boss. Birchstar didn't like being strict and pushy but if that was how she was going to have to get her cats to start seeing her as strong, then so be it.

Redstripe gave a sigh, letting himself relax a bit. His serious expression faded and to his usual, calm and collective expression. The ShadowClan camp glanced back up at Birchstar, dipping his head respectfully at her choice. "Just do all you can Birchstar. I know you can, and soon will be hopefully, a good leader to WindClan. I've seen it at gatherings. And I'm sure in good time, you'll win over the respect of your Clan as you should with just the right words." And hopefully his words were true. With the will of StarClan, WindClan would learn their lesson and accept Birchstar's leadership. But as she'd said before, she had some followers of her own. But that's the point, she only has some followers. Eaglefoot has the majority of the Clan obeying her commands. Just the thought of it made the russet colored tom's fur bristle. How could any warrior be so discourteous to the warrior code? The word of a Clan Leader was law. And could a cat be stupid enough to not see that? Clearly.
But Eaglefoot had great talents as well, he was sure of it. She just isn't using for the good of her Clan. The dark colored tabby was a natural born leader, but she was leading her clanmates to do the wrong things. What would attacking ShadowClan help to benefit WindClan anyways? It would only make things worse. WindClan would only get injured, or worse, killed even. That's why Birchstar has to break trance Eaglefoot has her cats under. Then everything would be balanced and Nightstar would have nothing to worry about. Maybe.
"Well... I suppose that's all I wanted to tell you about. I'm sure my clanmates are worried I'd been snatched by a fox by now." Or at least, Autumnbreeze would be worried about where he'd disappeared off to.
