❝ Hello, newcomer. Welcome to SakuraClan. ❞
SakuraClan. Based from the iconic, beautiful blossom that symbolizes Japan as a whole.
If you have not figured out already, SakuraClan is indeed a Japanese Clan. As a matter of fact, this roleplay actually takes place in ancient Japan, way back into the feudal years.
This is a special, unique roleplay, unlike most others. Far from your average Fan Clan, this clan resides in a peaceful valley surrounded by bamboo and cherry trees galore. The cats here are extremely traditional, such as having beliefs in the age-old Shinto religion, arranged marriages, warlords for each and every clan, the bushido code of samurai warriors, and many more different-than-average traditions.
But that's not all that will be included here. There will be drama, forbidden romance, and especially death. If you're thinking that this roleplay will be casual and happy, then you're quite wrong. Anything can happen in this mirthful Clan of ours.

- Small Rodents: Mice, moles, shrews, pikas, and squirrels can be found all over the territory.
- Fish: Fish such as the pond loach, biwia, nekogigi, rainbow trout, and other fish dwell in the freshwater sources in the Clan.
- Hares: These quick, brown-pelted creatures dwell near the Bamboo Grove.
- Quail: These medium-sized birds are a bit more rare, but still can be brought down by two cats, and are typically found near the River of the Heavens.
- Small Birds: Shrikes, thrushes, sparrows, finches, starlings, larks, crows, ravens, and a few others smaller birds can be found all over the territory.
- Koi Fish: Koi are beautiful, sweet-tasting morsels that are usually only caught during special occasions, such as festivals.
- Satonishiki Cherry: These cherries only grow once per year and on one tree only. They are very tasty and are often seen as a sign of love if a cat is given one by another. They are also given to kittens as well due to their delicious sweetness.
- Taimen: A massive, yet delicious catfish that takes six felines to fish out. Found on the far coast, it is extremely rare and is usually only sought out for festivals. It can easily break a cats bones when it flails around, and can even pull a cat underwater and drown them.
- Bats: Small, furry animals mostly found during dusk; they are actually rather tasty and are caught during the nightly festival of Obon.
Predators - -
- Red Foxes: A common enemy found deep in the Bamboo Trail, these crafty red-pelted vulpines are quick and strong, and can be found just about everywhere.
- Kitsune: They may look like foxes, but rather, they are fox demons, being stronger than their non-supernatural counterpart. One can tell the difference between the two, being that kitsune have more than one tail and/or wisps of foxfire around them. Stay away from them, as they can easily possess and kill a cat.
- Tanuki: These mischievous little raccoon dogs are just like foxes - quick and crafty. They're more likely to steal one's prey than fight, though.
- Mamushi: A highly venomous snake thought to be a server of the Underworld since ancient times. These massive creatures lurk in the murkier waters of the River of the Heavens. Beware of their venomous bite.
- Bakeneko: A large and dangerous cat-like enemy who lurks in the Forest of Lamentations and (very rarely) in the bamboo forest. Like kitsune, they can possess cats, shapeshift, and create illusions. Do not attempt to fight them; it is best to run.
 ❀ Read The Information ;; You don't have to read everything, but please take a look at the important things. Things can be changed in the RP; it may affect your characters. If you don’t feel like reading, well, then that’s on you. Literacy ;; Don't think you'll get away with one-sentence posts here. Yes, we are a literate/advanced Clan, but we only require least 4 detailed sentences each. Muses can get low sometimes, but if short posts become too frequent, you'll be alerted.
Activity ;; If you have a full schedule, and you know for a fact that you can't handle at least one RP, then I highly advise you not to join. All members are required to post at least 2 roleplay posts, 2 days a week. If something comes up, simply notify me. If you still are not present after two weeks, you'll have to be deleted. You may join again, but if you have to be removed twice for inactivity, you will not be allowed to join again.
Roleplaying ;; God-modding, powerplaying, meta-gaming, and spotlighting is frowned upon here. If you want to kill your partner's character, you must ask if it is okay to do so. You can't spotlight your character by bringing up something completely random, like a snake in the camp or having an enemy cat lurking outside. Most importantly, do not control another player's character(s) or actions.
Realism ;; Realism (or...semi-realism) is a key factor in this roleplay. This RP isn't the most realistic, but in terms of RPing, it is! Your cat cannot kill a fox by themselves. They cannot take on a cat who is larger and/or more skilled than they. They do not have powers, either. Some of your cats will die in this RP, and you must be prepared for that. The Clan is going to be fairly realistic in this sense, so you can't exactly choose.
Spamming & Chatting ;; Do not spam here. You can call someone back to an RP, but nothing more. Do not obsessively like a member's replies or keep quoting to get their attention; it's annoying and pestering to the other member, especially if they're busy. Try to limit OOC chatting.
Character Guidelines ;; Before you hop on over to the joining page, keep in mind that there are guidelines your cats must follow. We will not accept any similar names. (Ex: there cannot be a cat named Yukiko and a named Yuki. They're too similar to one another.) You are free to reserve names for future characters. You're allowed to have ten cats, as of now.
Plots, Drama, and Romance ;; Every plot comes with a date, time, and a certain number of cats involved. Make sure you ask if larger plots, such as a break-in or battle are alright. Romance isn't very necessary, but if you want your cat to have a crush/love interest, don't ask for one, and don't have your cats fall in love after one conversation. It doesn't happen in real life, so it's not going to happen here. Also, keep things PG-13. "Skip" is your friend.
Play Nice ;; Keep the arguing and drama off of this thread. If need be, go somewhere else; I don't want this thread clogged to arguments or debates. So do not bring up any political or offensive topics on here, with or without reason. Also, be kind and respectful of everyone and their characters. Keep it all to yourself.

SakuraClan does not follow the traditional ranks, and instead has their own name for them, as well as a certain few new ones.
The Daimyo - The daimyo, or simply the 'warlord', is the cat who rules over the clan. They have the most power in the Clan, carrying out duties and ceremonies, and are very respected among the healer and commander. Their word is law and all their orders must be followed. (1/1)
The Commander - The commander, much like a general, serves as the adviser to the clan. will take control over their clan after the current leader(s) are gone. They aren't necessarily deputies, but have special training routines and whatnot. They have the second most power in the clan alongside with the healers. They help the warlord rule over the clan, organize patrols, and instruct order down upon the cats. (1/1)
The Tacticians - The tacticians are a highly intelligent cats skilled in the planning and execution of fighting strategies. They could be called a "second deputy" (although they do not rise in rank when the warlord/commander is gone), helping both the commander and the daimyo with tactical plans of action. Only the smartest of cats can be chosen for this honorable rank. (1/2)
The Healers - The healer and their novice are the highly-respected medicine cats of the clan. As a healer, they handle diagnosis and treatment of both illness and injury for all their cats. They carry out their responsibilities to the gods once every half-month, meeting together to discuss matters privately and share dreams with them. Having a strong connection to the gods, they have an odd ability to understand the different tongues of some animals, like foxes and snakes. (2/2)
The Chief Samurai - The chief samurai are older cats who are thought to be of higher in rank than a samurai, and have the third most power in the clan alongside with the Wise Ones. Most of them have accomplished amazing feats during their past lives. (1/7)
The Samurai - A samurai is a cat trained in the arts of battle. All samurai are fiercely loyal to the bushido code of honor. Samurai make up the bulk of the Clan, promising to uphold the code and protect and defend their Clan, even at the cost of their life. (9/infinite)
The Minarai - The young novices of the clan training to be samurai; minarai meaning 'apprentice'. Their mentors are called "sensei" or "master", and they may even refer to some of the older apprentices and warriors as "senpai". (6/15)
The Mothers & Kittens - Expectant/nursing females and their young children. Their primary task during this time is the raising of their kittens. Some mothers stay in the nursery after they have children so they can help the nursing she-cats. (1/4 mothers, 1/15 kittens)
The Wise Ones - A Wise One is a retired cat who is too old to continue with their duties. Wise Ones are taken care of by the whole Clan, and are given great respect for the time they have served as samurai. They are responsible for taking the body of a dead cat out to be buried. (1/4)
The Seishin - The deceased cats, or rather, the spirits of the deceased. Good or evil, they are simply referred to as shin. Good seishin lie with the gods in the heavens (the High Celestial Plains), while evil seishin are said to wander the living realm as demons. (5/infinite)

"Lady Akiko Speaks"
The bushido code of honor is something we all value. To break it is to break the trust and faith the clan has in you. Value and honor this code as if it were your own life, young one.
❀ Respect all the gods and nature spirits, especially the Great Mother Goddess Amaterasu, for she has given you and your Clan life. The gods are not to be disrespected in any way, nor are the spirits of nature.
❀ Your life should be devoted to serving the clan. Your Clan is your life and your family, and you should honor them as such. Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats in other clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle. Any form of treachery or treason will be dealt with harshly.
❀ Do not hunt or trespass on another clan’s territory.
❀ Wise Ones and kittens must be fed before minarai and samurai. Unless they have permission, minarai may not eat until they have hunted to feed their elders.
❀ The word of the daimyo is law and to be followed without question. Failure to do so results in harsh punishment.
❀ It is forbidden for a healer to take on a mate or bear kittens. Should a healer take on a regular cat as a mate, they will lose their rank and both cats will be punished. Should they have kittens, the kitten will be thought of as a disgrace, although they are allowed to still be samurai (though they will typically be kept in camp to perform jobs meant for apprentices).
❀ Prey is to be cherished and respected, and killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to the gods for its life.
❀ A kitten must be 6 months old to become a minarai and 12 to become a samurai. Newly appointed samurai will keep a silent vigil for one night after the ceremony is performed.
❀ Chief samurai are to be fully respected and treated with the up most respect. They are higher then a regular warrior in terms of rank, and have the third most power in the clan. If they want something, then you must give it to them.
❀ A cat cannot be made commander without having mentored at least one minarai.
❀ The commander will become leader when the current leader dies or retires.
❀ After the death or retirement of a commander, the new deputy must be chosen before midnight.
❀ A monthly gathering of all clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among the clans during this time.
❀ Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.
❀ No cat may neglect a kitten in pain or danger, even if it is a kitten from a different clan.
❀ Order and balance are what rule the Clan, and all cats must preserve these two virtues. Should any cat say otherwise, they shall be exiled.
❀ Should a cat be thought to be conspiring with the Underworld spirits or have relations to enemy clans, they are to be exiled, or in worse cases, killed.

MAIN PLOT - - "Sparks of Rebellion"
SakuraClan endures a rude awakening.
On the very first day of spring, the cats are all excited for the grand Cherry Blossom Festival that they've spent days preparing for. But their festive excitement is short-lived... as the Demon King, Lord Nobunaga, lands a surprise invasion right on their territory. Instead of fighting, however, he persuades the mentally ill Akiko to hand over a bit of her Clan's resources every other day. Despite giving in so easily, much to her cats' dismay, the daimyo has a sly trick up her sleeve.
A trick of betrayal.
Although this is a major plot, don't feel intimidated! You're free to join in at any time you wish.
CLAN NEWS
10/21/16 - -The three days of preparation for the sakura matsuri are coming soon. As of now, the time is the first day of preparation. The Clan is busy as the felines hunt and gather supplies for the celebration.11/21/16 - - After a border inspection, a morning patrol reports to Lady Akiko that one of their samurai had been brutally murdered by an unknown Oda cat. They don't know why or who would do this, but they are still speculating. The cats are still preparing for the festival, but they are extremely cautious now. Stronger border patrols are initiated.
11/25/16 - - SakuraClan makes a peaceful alliance with the Date Clan.
12/15/16 - - Ikusei gives birth to her children, but two are stillborn.
12/15/16 through 1/7/17 - - All Clans meet at the Great Cherry Tree for a Gathering. But the Oda Clan - oddly - doesn't show up. As the leaders have a heated debate atop the Great Tree, the phenomenal Benitsuki - Red Moon - appears in the sky on this night. Scared and wary as they are, the Clans anxiously attempt to go on with their night. Meanwhile, Lady Akiko is on edge, and doesn't know that a certain someone is paying her kingdom another unpleasant visit...
1/24/16 - - The Valley has an unexpected visitor; the Oda Clan army. On the very first day of spring, SakuraClan is excited for the grand Cherry Blossom Festival. Lord Nobunaga, bent on achieving a land of "peace" via uniting all the Clans of the forest, persuades Akiko to hand over half of the Clan's resources every other day. She gives in, and allows the Oda to stay in camp; to their shock. But Akiko knows what she's doing. But just what is her rebellious scheme...?
2/5/17 - - Izumi and Tarou, upon receiving news that Lady Akiko is unwell, go to check on their leader. As they talk about her personal problems, Akiko begins showing a darker, emotional, and unstable side that they never thought they'd see.

"The Wise Ones Speak"
❝ Settle well, young ones, for this is tale that the gods themselves would like to hear.❞
AS THE GODS SAY...
Long, long ago, our home was...quite different. The Land of the Rising Sun was prosperous and alive with longevity. Like all other lands, this beautiful kingdom had a leader, of course. But...no, not a warlord or an emperor like most places did.
This land had a ruler unlike any other - a goddess.
Yes, you all know who this goddess is. Her name was Amaterasu Ō-kami - the sun goddess and ruler of the High Celestial Plains that served as the home for all the deities. Along with her two brothers, Tsukiyomi and Susanoo, she ruled with a glorious holy light that shined down upon all the world.
Now, the elders tell us that one day, Susanoo went up to the heavenly realm to visit his sister. In his haste to see her, the storm god moved through the sky with crackling thunder in his paws, loud enough to shake even the greatest of mountains. Even Amaterasu herself became frightened, so she decided to take caution when she greeted him.
"Why do you disturb the peace of our kingdom, Susanoo?" The golden Siamese challenged boldly, looking at him - a little disdainfully - through her golden-red eyes. "Surely you have more than enough activity in your own lands."
But the silvery-blue tom only smiled calmly and replied, "Oh, radiant sister, I wish you no harm. My only desire is your warm company, a glimpse of your lovely face, and a few pleasant words before I descend to the underworld to find our most esteemed mother."
His answer pleased her, but Amaterasu decided to request a contest for proof of his intentions by creating gods from the earth and nature around them. Although Susanoo made more gods, the sun goddess claimed her victory to the gods that were made from her necklace.
Her win drove Susanoo to violent ordeals that reached their climax when he hurled a young fox through her den, causing the death of one of her attendants. Terrified and miserable, Amaterasu fled and hid in a sacred cave. As the young deity disappeared, so did her light.
The darkness, what we know as yami, slowly began to cover the world. Nature withered, lakes became murky, and malicious demons seeped into the land.
The world was slowly but surely perishing.
All the gods and goddesses tried to coax Amaterasu out of the cave, but none of the cats could force the goddess out of her hiding place. But a mirthful deity, named Ame, hatched a clever plan. She placed a large mirror on a tree, facing Amaterasu's cave. Then, with the help of the other divine felines, she began to perform a merry dance. They made music and laughed as if they were at some sort of grand festival. Amaterasu became curious about all this festive noise, and opened the cave's rocky door with reluctant paws.
When she peeked outside from her long stay in the dark, a ray of morning light escaped, and the goddess was dazzled by her own beautiful reflection in the mirror. Surrounded by love, Amaterasu's depression disappeared and she agreed to return her light to the world.
With this, the land rose to life and peace anew once more. With each step Amaterasu took, new, fresh grass and flowers sprung, and with each day she woke, the sun would keep the darkness at bay as it rose. The blackening springs and lake were purified, while disease was lifted away from the sickened land. As more and more cats had begun to put their faith in the gods, the deities began to gain back their strength back.
The darkness had been banished once and for all.
If I remember correctly, in order to contain this darkness, Tsukiyomi decided to reign over the evil spirits and now is what keeps them at bay, while Susanoo was banished to the Underworld, hoping to see his sister's beautiful light once more. Meanwhile, Amaterasu's holy light fell upon a certain group of cats, who were strictly bound by the laws of Shinto. It was soon-to-be-Emperor Hikaru and his mate, soon-to-be-Empress Miko, who were bestowed upon her powers of majesty and rule.
She blessed the cats, who united to join together as a Clan in order to restore the land's faith in the benevolent deities whom they called their guardians.
This was how SakuraClan was born.

"Haruna Speaks" "What? Tch, what do you want? See the camp? Well...I guess I can show you around. Just don't get my fur messy! "
❀ T H E C A M P ❀ Entrance Nestled in the giant center of a grassy valley, SakuraClan dwells peacefully. The entrance is very recognizable - an old, red torii gate with old stepping stones leading down into the grassy camp itself.
Daimyo's Temple Upon entrance, you will see a small temple in the back of the camp with cherry trees surrounding it; this is the warlord's den. Inside the temple is a small, traditional Japanese room, carpeted with tatami flooring. The "den" is complete with painted doors, a miniature table, and shrines.
Healer's Den The healer's den to the right is a hollowed out rock with a small opening. The Medicine Cat's den is a cave right next to the camp entrance. It is lined with moss and has a small drinking pool in the back. The dens are lined with feathers and shells, meant for maximum comfort for the medicine cat's patients. There are little cracks in the cave where the herbs are stored.
Samurais' Den The samurai's den is much like the healer's den, but it is much larger, with two sides - one for older samurai and the other for younger ones. Both can hold a fairly large quantity of cats. Feathers and grasses are comfy bedding, and the solid rock makes for great shelter.
Minarais' Den A smaller rock where the apprentices sleep. Like the samurai's den, the bedding is plush with mosses and feathers. The apprentices are required to clean them every once in a while.
Nursery The Nursery is a large rock covered in moss and soft grass. It is the largest of all the dens, being that queens need room for their kittens to play in. For convenience, the Nursery is right next to the healers' den.
Elder's Den The Wise Ones sleep in a giant fallen tree near the back of the camp. The tree is decorated with cherry blossoms, and the inside provides comfort for the elders.
The Great Tree The Great Tree is a giant cherry tree right next to the daimyo's temple. The leader holds meetings and announcements here.
Freshkill Pile The freshkill pile is in the center clearing of the camp. In the coldest and hottest seasons, it is kept in a separate den so that it stays edible. - - - - - ❀ L A N D M A R K S ❀

SakuraClan's "neighbors" live in areas past the Bamboo Trail. They are eight known clans north of their territory - the Oda, Azai, Date, Fuma, Toyotomi, Takeda, Tokugawa, and Maeda clans. There are smaller clans as well, but they are not as significant. All eight clans, including SakuraClan, meet at the Great Sakura Clearing, where gatherings are held.
Mount Fuji
Mt. Fuji, or Fujisan, is a large and very sacred volcano about towards the North - large enough to be seen from Ankoku Temple. It is a very religious place; the Shinto goddess Amaterasu is revered here for the sun that shines over the mountain in the morning. From the mountain pours a beautiful waterfall, which eventually runs into The River of the Heavens.
The Moon Shrine
Deep inside a cave in Mt. Fuji, marked by a pair of giant lion-dog statues, the Moon Shrine is an cave where the warlord goes to receive their nine lives and converse with the gods. The shrine itself is actually through a small, hidden hole in the cave. Stepping into it leads to a secret, beautiful cavern with a mirror and a small, glittering pond that glows with blue light. In this pond are two spirits that circle one another indefinitely - a black koi fish with a white spot, Yang, and a white fish with a black spot, Yin. These two sacred fish are what keep the world in complete balance. Though they are koi fish, SakuraClan's delicacy, these two fish are sacred to the cats. If they were ever killed, it is said the world would spiral into chaos.
The River of the Heavens
A beautiful river this is indeed. It is described as ‘The River of Life and Death’, as one part shines in light, while the part nearest to Nageki no Mori is darker and murkier. No cat must drink the sacred water from from this river, lest they be cursed by the gods themselves. It is described as 'the river of life', as it continuously shines in holy light. It is said that this is the way-point for deceased souls, to determine whether they will go to dwell with Tsukiyomi in darkness, or with Amaterasu and the other gods in the Celestial Plains. If one crosses this river, they will find themselves feeling weightless. A cat can perish if they are in the river for too long, so one has to look for stepping stones if you want to cross it.The Bamboo Trail
The Bamboo Trail is a peaceful place, well suited for hunting and playing with the peaceful panda bears. However, rare yokai (monsters), like kitsune and tanuki dwell there, so slight caution is recommended. Sometimes humans can be seen walking along the trail in the afternoons, but nonetheless it is still a very nice place to visit.
Ankoku Temple
An old Buddhist temple very close to SakuraClan's camp, nested in a series of small hills visible from camp. Surrounding the temple is a wall, lining the hill's top. To the left of the wall is the temple bell, which is used by the cats for ceremonial and celebration services. From the base of the hill, a steep staircase leads up to the temple, with roofs above parts of the staircase.
The Forest of Lamentations
Also called "Nageki no Mori", The Forest of Lamentations is located south of the River of the Heavens, where the water turns murkier. It is a very dark and dangerous place, with death written all over it. All kinds of demons and evil spirits reside here, and it is never safe to venture into the Forest without reason to.Training Grounds
The training grounds are the remains of a Zen garden. It includes various pools of waters with bridges, smooth stones, sand patches, and other elements of nature. It is a simply beautiful place, which is why minarai sometimes come here just to relax due to how close it is to camp. They and their sensei may practice hunting skills with the various prey in the garden, fishing from the ponds, fighting in the sand patches, as well as climbing and other exercises.Hana Valley
Hanasaki Valley is by far one of the most beautiful and most sacred places of SakuraClan. It is a lush valley east of the training grounds. It is a popular place which is known for it's beauty, especially in the springtime. The entire valley is full of flowers and grass, and is one of the most beautiful places in SakuraClan - fit for lovers to view the night sky. There are several small waterfalls in the valley, which creates a stream that leads to the lake. A stepped trail that leads up a slope and to a shrine containing the Guardian Tree and an altar to worship the sun.

"Takeshi Speaks"
SakuraClan does have quite a few...rituals. We are quite serious, but unlike other Clans, we also have festivals as well. I do hope they conform to your interests.

❀ T R A D I T I O N S ❀
Coming-Of-Age This is the day on which apprentices will become samurai. This promotion ceremony marks one's coming of age (age of majority), which reflects both the expanded rights but also increased responsibilities expected of new adults. The cats are expected to look and dress formally for this occasion.
Marriages
A matchmaker usually chooses the mates so both cats know beforehand. But sometimes, a young tom would typically visit the she-cat of his choice and ask for her hand in marriage. If the she-cat's parents approve, the tom would be invited to a ceremony and get married when spring comes around. Before the two get married, however, they will both need to prepare for the ceremony, by giving one another flowers, decorating themselves, and conversing about the event to their peers. After the two are married, they will spend the rest of the night together at Hanasaki Valley, receiving their blessing from the gods.
Death
Funerals are a very scared rite in the Clan. The Wise Ones will take the body and clean it before grieving, which may lasts for an hour, depending on who died. Even malicious cats get paid their grieving respects. Afterwards, the body is decorated in flowers then loved ones to the dead cat will carry the body to the River of the Heavens. The healer will pray for the spirit's journey to the High Celestial Plains while the decorated body is washed away in the river.
Becoming Daimyo
The new daimyo and the healer will travel up to Ankoku Temple. There, the healer will announce that the new leader will lead the Clan with their very lives and announce the marriage with gifts of lily flowers. They will then depart towards Hanasaki Valley. There, the healer will make a cut upon the new ruler’s shoulders, allowing blood to fall and drip onto the soil of the garden, sealing in their new leadership with blood. It is said that this what allows some of the cherry blossoms to gain scarlet petals, and if the ceremony was ever performed wrong, the trees would begin to die, as a sign that the gods did not approve of the new leader. They will spend the night at the Valley and will be visited by the gods in their dreams, who will give them their blessing.
The Blood Moon/Benitsuki
This phenomenon takes place on the day of the Blood Moon, also called a harvest moon. This is the sign of a very ill omen. No cat is allowed to leave the camp, and those who are not in camp are to stay where they are until it ends. The Clan will gather briefly outside of the leader's temple, where the daimyo will utter a prayer up to the gods for protection from the evil spirits. It is said that if the Blood Moon is still visible in the sky by the next morning, then the demons are returning to the land.

Hanami
In the early days of spring, when the cherry blossoms begin to bloom, Hanami, or "flower-viewing" will take place. This is a month-long celebration that usually occurs when romance begins to bloom as well.
Kyuu-Shichi-Go
Occurs before the Coming-of Age ceremony. At the ending of autumn, kittens and apprentices the ages of nine, seven, and five months will go to Ankoku and pray to their ancestors and the gods. This custom is where the young cat readies to mature into a loyal samurai.
Obon Matsuri
This ritual is performed every year during summer. In this two-day festival, the cats pay respect to their ancestors on this night, believing that their spirits come back to their homes to be reunited with their family during the festival. The bell in the nearby Ankoku Temple will not be rung until the lanterns, which represent the souls of the deceased, have been carried down the River of the Heavens. Only then is the bell rung - twice, for the dead spirits and their safe journey to Takama-ga-hara, the High Celestial Plains.
The Cherry Blossom Festival/Sakura Matsuri
This festival is the biggest and most important of them all. Beginning on the first day of spring, it lasts for a whole week, and takes three days to prepare for. The samurai and apprentices will all go out to hunt, bringing back as much prey as they can and storing it in a special place. The next day, they will go out to hunt again while the kittens and mothers decorate the trees and camp with flowers and paper streamers (which they pilfer from the city.) During these days of preparation, everyone gets to relax and have fun at different areas around the territory.
Finally, on the third day, all the cats wake up early at dawn, and the temple bell is rung 5 times. The cats will celebrate Amaterasu's sunlight by day and Tsukiyomi's moon by night, eating the collected prey, dancing, and having fun with their loved ones. The festivities repeat for the following 5 days of the first week of spring, and afterwards, all the cats pray to the gods for a new rebirth of the season.

- Akiko-sama is the highly esteemed wife of Lord Kotarou and the ruler of SakuraClan. She is a very alluring she-cat, she standing out with a regal air. True to her name, meaning "autumn child", her golden fur is decorated with splotches of auburn, yellow, and orange. She sports a lithe frame with neatly sloping curves. She is a Siamese/calico mix. Her eyes are a lovely, sharp, honey gold. Her paws are cream-colored, as are her chest and muzzle. She wears a pink carnation ornament in her ear. Akiko is a very queenly cat, with an air of great authority radiating from her at all times. She can come off as phlegmatic and cold to her cats, speaking only when she deems right. When she does speak, she uses a formal, showy way of speaking. Being strictly traditional, she has a deep faith in the gods and the customs of her Clan.
- Her mate, Lord Kotarou was murdered by Lord Nobunaga not too long ago, and she is one of those cats who won't fall in love anytime soon. Sometimes, she seems to be a bit...off in the head, and can become quite depressive. As such, her mental sanity can be questioned, and it's unknown as to when she will break under all of this pressure...
COMMANDER
❀ - Tsuki

- The silver-blue pelt of Tsuki appears to look like moonlight, making her name, "Moon", fit her well. The feminine's sky blue eyes are almost always narrowed into an angry glare. Her posture is rigid, and she stands tall, leering over all below her status. She is unusually large and quite muscular, her muscles can be seen rippling beneath her glossy coat. Her fur is thick, and sheds water like feathers on a duck. Her nose and pawpaws are as black as the darkest night. Tsuki is a no nonsense type of cat. She will snap and give a good cuff around the ears to cats fooling around and talking when they should be doing jobs assigned to them. She is easily-angered and will hurl insults at cats who annoy her with her sharp tongue. The Molly is brave and loyal, willingly leaping into battle in a heartbeat to protect her beloved Clan to her dying breath. She can be seen as rude or heartless at times, but she is just trying to make her Clan prepared for threats yet to come. Tsuki is an excellent fighter and gives devastating and fatal blows to those that dare to oppose her. She can't hunt that well though, and her size makes her unable to make more speedy attacks. She is very demanding of her Clan and often pushed them past their limits, barking out our order left and right. She knows many battle formations and techniques that give her the upperpaw on the battle field.

- Takeshi is a remarkable study when it comes to sleek design. With a build much like the Siamese, this elegant cat gracefully glides across the ground on his tall, slender legs. Withal, Takeshi is long and lean, and yet, he is a natural athlete. He is a pureblooded - yes, pureblooded - Oriental. A silvery-blue is the base color of his pelt, and then darker navy stripes run all over his body in interesting patterns. Like a prince, Takeshi holds shrewd, nonpareil intelligence in his aura. His speech usually contains baroque and ornately-structured sentences, a way to show his intellectual capabilities. Takeshi claims "he's not one to flaunt his skills", but it can seem like he does so, being very intimidating in the sense that he is much smarter than the average cat. Sometimes he can come off as cold and stern, making sure that all cats do their jobs and do it right. His grey morality lends him a sense of neutrality at times, and he has no trouble with deciding between right and wrong. He is attached to Lady Akiko, in a…sort of guardian sense. Like a general of sorts, he aids her in war tactics and strategies when the time calls for such an event. He is noted to be rather aloof, if not calm. While he's not the most jovial, he is still rather nonchalant, never worrying too heavily over something trivial. He is a rather very good fighter, having come up with a number of battle stratagems.

- Alluring, tender features have been doled with unimpaired ease throughout the entirety of her delicate figure. Discoid, aegean optics, set buried within their sockets, exude a passionate, motherly smolder. As a long-haired Oriental, she sports a luxuriant, silvery pelage, which cascades down her flanks like a glimmering fountain; paralleling fittingly with her alias as it signifies 'source of water.' Her nose ridge has a sloping aspect to it, highlighting her visage with a rather wise impression. Ears rest daintily upon their hinges yet are somewhat too large for her cranium. As a result, their termini often droop downward. Curvilinear limbs flow from underneath her, rather average in length, though not terribly so. A plumed tail trails behind her, complementing her overall sylphlike physique. At her sinistral forepaw she proudly conveys a turquoise bracelet with the traditional weaved-in prayer beads. Timid wouldn’t quite be the word to describe Izumi. Perhaps discreet or intimate would pose more of a correlation given her wily nature. Though innately gifted in the art of healing, she often has troubles socially connecting with her patients. Coupled with a sense of unforthcoming and an overall taciturn psyche, this makes for a rather awkward scenario - given convalescents typically do away with time sparking a conversation with their caretaker. For this, she often remains silent, deciding it better to simply get to the point rather converse. This persona does little to change when exposed to a familiar, though one is to notice she’ll become a bit more loquacious.

- Tarou is a shrewd young boy with a kind demeanor as sweet as the satonishiki cherries. His pelt is brown, with darker tabby stripes racing throughout. He is small, like any other apprentice, but he has small, robust muscles that are starting to form with time. On his right wrist, he sports a bracelet with dark green prayer beads. His eyes are childishly wide, yet slanted inwards, being a mix of green and orange. Some say he has Akiko's eyes. He is a very fast learner, and obeys his teacher at all times. He tries his best to be a stern taciturn, but it always seems forced, as he usually gives off a cheerful, child-like demeanor all the time. He has a strong tendency to be distracted or awed, especially by cherry blossoms - or any flowers, for that matter - as they have been an aesthetic for him since kittenhood. He also tends to use traditional Japanese phrases, and gushes with overly-polite vocabulary whomever he is around, be they kitten or a wise one.

- Arata is the pretty boy of the Clan. This tom has a somewhat feminine build to him, but that's not to say he's girly. Arata is a Siamese mix. His lithe body and short mahogany fur make for a excellent running tool. Arata's eyes are a pretty blue flecked with gold and green. This tom is a bit of a hopeless flirt. He is vain and rather conceited about his looks, never going outside unless he is perfectly clean from head to toe. One could say that he's narcissistic, in a way. Although, this act is just for show; Arata desperately wants attention because...he's quite sad and lonely deep inside. He often clashes heads with his best friend, Daisuke, whom he secretly thinks of as a big brother.

- Daisuke is a large tom with strong legs and rippling muscles. He is a Korat tabby mix. His fur is very dark, almost black, and he has intimidating orange eyes pop out against his dark fur. Daisuke is a very hardworking cat who believes that one must do their job and do it right. He is rather imposing, releasing an air of authority about him. Although he can seem scary, he is actually a very gentle cat who cares for others. He loves Arata as a brother, but can't seem to put up with the narcissistic tomcat sometimes.

- Ragdoll in breed, Kai has a medium-sized build with silky semi-long fur and a plumed tail. Faded brown points cover her face, plumed tail, and large paws. Her pretty eyes are a mixture of green and bright blue. Kai is a she-cat raised since birth to be a samurai. Wanting to protect her family back in the Hōjō Clan, she fights with daring, masculine pride. However, she secretly desires to live as a normal she-cat of her class. Most cats in the Clan call her a "bear" because of her tomboyish and barbaric attitude. She has adopted Hayakawa as a "little sister" of sorts. The two are very close and desire to protect their former Clan.

- Hayakawa's pelt is simplistic - a white canvas with two large orbs that are the right shade of sky blue. As she is an Angora, her fur is longer, complete with a feathered tail. She is a bit smaller than average, but sports longer legs and a fluffy body. "Daddy's girl" might be the best way to describe her. She would do anything to protect her home land and her father, Lord Ujiyasu. The delicate and refined Lady Hayakawa does everything she can to trim the stark class inequality between herself and others. Her words are perfumed with the scent of nobility yet they are kind and candid. Her composure is poised yet friendly, and she hopes to inspire the other samurai someday.

- Falling short of beguiling, a build akin to a spindly monster presents itself to the public. This is not to imply he’s Brobdingnagian with thew, rather unambiguously gawky ascribed to lengthy limbs - both anterior and posterior. In sooth, this individual is quite frangible, no brawn available to safeguard him from enemy onslaughts. A trivial tuft is in attendance for a tail, lacking the cord many feline’s possess. So, theoretically speaking, his lanky stature might originate from his Japanese Bobtail genes, as a docked caudal renders a grimalkin without the secure equilibrium required for quotidian existence; prompting a heredity replacement - longer legs - to impart stability. White makes up the entirety of his pelage whilst the occasional ginger - blemished simply at his ears, tail and soupçon amounts at his dextral wrist - highlights it. His oculi are of a baby blue hue. What he lacks in handsomeness is quickly made up by nature - buoyant and boosterish, Susumu is a facile choice for company. Stalwart is yet another candid word to elucidate his temperament, which goes adequately with his label - meaning to advance, make progress. He is quite staunch and dedicated when it comes down to an assignment and does the best of his ability to succeed. Even when a chore proves too onerous, he obliges himself forward to the point of exhaustion. In spite of his ripe age, this nature often becomes a detrimental routine as too much can prove a potential threat to a feline's health.

- Just like her name implies "Light", she is a honey-colored she-cat, the color of natural light. Her figure is lithe, yet muscular. The color of her eyes is the most dazzling shade of golden amber. Her pelt is thick and glossy, appearing to be made of starlight when in direct light. Her claws are longer than most cats' and sharp. The expression she wears most often is relaxed and cheerful, telling cats she's no harm. Hikari is an unusual character, being the fun-loving oddball she is. She is adventurous and curious, always exploring new and old areas and snooping around, often getting her in trouble. The feminine is childish, and is often seen playing games with kittens as though she were one herself. She is loving and kind and would do anything for her loved ones. She always gets to help when she can, but her constant chatter can get annoying, as can her randomness. Hikari loves to collect strange objects she finds and placed them around her best. The Molly is not taken very seriously by her opponents, because of her silly statements, but she can fight well and it gives her an advantage. The Molly is most and always minding every cat's business. She is easy to manipulate because of her trusting and innocent nature.

- Naoko is the complete image of his deceased father. He is built with the same strong hindlegs, thick fur, charming looks, and he carries the same leadership skills his father once had. And like his mother, Naoko is very passionate and honest, being a bit of a free spirited cat himself. In his physical and mental appearance, Naoko is proud to say he is the son of Hideaki, both out of the fact that he is so handsome and that he is the son of such a great samurai. Like his sister, Naoko takes after his father’s Bobtail origins. Though he’s much bigger that Kiyoshi; with his muscular and powerful legs, his large paws, his wide set of shoulders, and his thick fur. His fur is brown, a bit more russet than what his father’s pelt was, but not that much. Tabby markings run all over his back, flanks, legs, face, and bobbed tail. His stomach, neck, and chest don’t have any stripes along them. All four of his paws are pure white as well as a small portion of his chest, and chin. He has a pair of pale green, almost amber eyes. Half of his left ear is torn away from an old fight with a fox as a minarai. Naoko is a lionheart through and through. He is very brave and fearless, always determined to make sure his clan is safe, as his physical appearance may suggest. But this is also the title his father once stood for. Ever since kithood the masculine vowed to follow in his father's footsteps in becoming a well-respected warrior. He'd always wanted to be samurai that cats would remember after he died. So far he... is somewhat achieving his goals. As much as he tries to be exactly like his father, Naoko can't. He could never see himself complimenting his sister and mother everyday. Its totally unacceptable, the masculine would never hear the end of it if he gave in to Kiyoshi. But he may come off a bit obnoxious and egotistical because of how boastful and stuck-up he actually can get. But it isn't all the time where Naoko is complaining or boasting about life, majority of the time the tabby is actually very easy-going and friendly. And maybe, somewhat judgmental. He judges his sister, Kiyoshi, all the time because she's different and a total nuisance towards him, and him alone. But like his mother, Naoko is very passionate about friendship and family. Though he may not show it, he truly does care for those he is close too. And will protect you with his life. Since he’s so caught up in being like his father, he dreams of falling in love and having kittens of his own one day.

- As her name states, Kiyoshi is a very saint and quiet cat. Which means she does good all the time, or as her brother calls it ‘a goody two paws’. Kiyoshi is a very beautiful cat. Having a delicate and swift frame, much smaller than what her brother’s big and bulky shape is. She has an almost tiny frame with a very willowy build. Her legs are slender and long, her paws are small a furry, and she has an excellent set of eyes and ears, almost too big for her small body. But these features make her a great hunter in the end. Her fur is sleek and wavy. And it is pure white- not having one colored marking other than her eyes and small pink nose. Her bobbed-tail seems to be the biggest future on her body for it has the most fur. From a distance, the small limb may look like a giant ball of white fur. Kiyoshi has longer fur along her neck and chest, just almost like a mane. Her eyes are the only real gene that was passed down from her mother. They both share the same dazzling, almond shaped , green-amber eyes. Just like her mother, Kiyoshi wears a sakura bud behind her ear, except her's is pink. She also has vines along both of her forelegs with sakura buds braided into them. Unlike her brother, Kiyoshi isn’t determined to walk in her parents’ footsteps. She has her own, totally unique ways. Like her name suggests, Kiyoshi is very unobtrusive. Which is highly weird, according to Naoko, for someone in her family. Her mother always tells her that ‘a silent mouth feeds no one’, but no one really understands Kiyoshi the way she sees it. Unlike both her mother and sibling, she isn’t very passionate in anything accept hunting and nature. She isn't too serious in making friends or becoming a well-respected cat in the Clan. Its most definite to catch Kiyoshi being herself when she's outside of the camp and away from everyone else. That's when everything about this delicate feminine changes. She desires to hunt with the greatest passion. It just is so peaceful and calm. Antithetical to fighting which is always so violent and brutal. It just isn’t her style. But no doubt, just because she doesn’t like fighting doesn’t mean she doesn’t know how. Kiyoshi is actually a very skilled fighter, her small size making her more swift and agile. And her silence is something she cannot control. The feminine doesn’t necessarily like talking for when she does, she stutters, and she can’t risk being embarrassed because she’s a highly sensitive cat. Another reason why fighting isn’t her thing. But overall she is a very kind and sweet cat once you get to know her. And the white feminine is just in love with dancing. Ever since kithood, Kiyoshi has been dancing with the wind and the trees. It is a very graceful and beautiful thing to see and it's hard to miss since she does it a lot, even in the rain will she dance. Due to her sensitivity, Kiyoshi took her father's death very hard. Her whole life he had spoiled her and seemed to keep her under his wing. But when he passed she'd never felt so vulnerable and alone. In present times she has grown very close to her remaining family in a needing feeling to feel safe as she did when her father was still alive. She loves to play around with the kits of the Clan, though she doesn’t plan on finding a mate and having her own any time soon.

- His pelt is snow-white. He has a tinge of grey that runs down his back and down his tail, as well as a grey tinge on each of his paws. His eyes are blue like a lake. His size is mostly average, just a little on the big side. Junichi means "obedient one", and this reflects in his personality. He is obedient and will follow his leader's orders without question. His loyalty to those who accept him is his most notable trait. His sense of morality isn't very strong, however the exception to this is violence. He hates fighting. He will, however, do what his leader says even if violence is involved. To Junichi, following orders has priority over taking initiative, so he doesn't take power positions very well. His past isn't the brightest, or the cleanest.

He tries to avoid serious responsibilities, doing as little as necessary and being modest about his battle skills. - Emiko is a purebred Japanese bobtail. She has a small, chiseled body and a triangle-shaped head. Her turquoise-violet eyes are large and childish, and are set at a slant. Calico-patterned colors make up her fur, just like her older sister, Haruna. Emiko's name, "smiling child", truly lives up to it's meaning. This she-cat is tender-hearted, social, and extremely kind, unlike her sister, Haruna. Everywhere she goes, she seeks to spread happiness and conversation, even if they reject her actions. She's quite determined, getting back up if she ever fails, always vowing to do better.

- Being a Japanese Bobtail like her sister, Haruna's pelt is slightly longer than normal. She has high cheekbones and large eyes, which are a bright sky blue. Her fur is colored with is the traditional orange, black, and white. Haruna may seem cute and friendly, but she is actually quite rude, and a bit of a drama queen. Egocentric and cynical, she tends to complain a lot about the tiniest, trivial things . She will only be nice to whomever she sees fit; and that number is very few. Even if one is one of those lucky few, they'll be exposed to her prissy side. She dislikes being told what to do, and will stubbornly disobey if given the chance.

- A modus operandi to limn her fleece is by taking a white canvas and bespattering it with the tones tangerine, sable and flaxen; then coalescing the specified varieties into middling sized smears. These distinguishable smudges are exhibited throughout the length of her pelage - most notably the ones established at the base of her hindquarters, lower region of her exterior gullet, sinistral side of her face, and the terminus of her docked tail. Diaphanous fleece cascades down her flank. Being a calico long haired Japanese bobtail, this is completely paradigmatic. She has a form of heterochromia, of which her dextral iris is pigmented blue whilst the atrophied to this is marmalade. She is rather corpulent, with cute rounded buccals. A bubbly young tyro seemingly packed full with an endless quantity of energy. She has a Pollyannaish temperament as she attempts to encounter the bright side of things. Likewise, her innocent aura contributes to this, yet it also adds to her gullibility. Said dangerously credulous makeup has her easily manipulated by others, like bullies whom aspire to have an easy target to toy around with. Yet, putting aside her dupable character, she's quite sensitive, so it doesn’t come as a surprise when her feelings are quickly hurt by either a scolding or strict criticism from something she assays her hardest to achieve.

- A young, quick she-cat, Keiko is colored a dull white, with a cream, almost-pink stripe along her back and filling out to cover her tail. She has the same colored ears, with the colorings fading down around her bluish-green eyes. She has long, thick fur, and long legs, and is very agile and quick when she wants to be. Most of the time, however, she doesn't, and is calm and relaxed. She does love to run, however, and is often found dashing around just for the joy of it. Her fluffy, quick paws, make fast work of the assignments she is given as a minarai. Despite the calm façade she puts up, Keiko is quite a spitfire. She has a fiery temper that comes out in the worst of times, and rapid-fire sarcasm that borders on snappiness. However, Keiko is always up for game -- her playful nature sometimes gets her into trouble as well. Despite being quite reckless, she is fearless and always looks out for her clan. She is fiercely loyal, and only becomes friends with a few cats, but acts relatively nice towards everyone. Despite the problems she causes, Keiko has good intentions, and thinks of her clan first.

- Kuri possesses a lithe frame, with short fur covering it like a cloak. The female has the colours of a siamese, with chestnut fur giving an ombre effect to her appendages; typical of any point colouration. Darker brown tabby markings couple with her siamese pattern, the dark lines coalescing with the ombre effect all the way to her thickly furred paws. Her back is blanketed with a gentle gold, fading to her cream pelt as it leaves her spine. The same tabby markings on her legs give an intricate design to her cheeks as well. Kuri takes care to preen her tufted ears, a cluster of brown fur at the top of her rounded ears. The thin azure eyes at the center of her face are the female's most prominent feature, as they give a pop of brightness to her otherwise dull pelt. Kuri is a free spirit, constantly questioning and attempting to figure the inner workings of all cats around her. The young female tries her best to compose herself, yet her young age often causes her to become overexcited. One should be prepared to have their ears talked off, as the point won't hesitate to share her ideas with anyone. This also makes her a good learner, as her thirst for knowledge constantly searches for new information to add. Of course, this often comes off as annoying and immature, as many cats are. Cats that are "less" then her are usually ignored, or their ramblings are tolerated with distaste. This involves anyone who is younger then her, or a cat that she deems to be unfit for her tastes. Kuri is also somewhat conceited, and spends her free time cleaning her pelt or letting petals drift upon her back. Overall, Kuri is a spirited young cat who seems to know how to say the right things, yet also becomes selfish and rude when with younger cats.

18 moons (1 year + a half) | female
A pure-as-snow, dappled with grey, Queen. She has a flawless pelt, due to her constantly grooming herself. There is one blemish one her, and that is the scar that runs down her left flank, it is long, but not deep and was made by a juvenile Kitsune. Her tail is considerably long and fluffed out. Most toms consider her beautiful, but it is her personality that attracts most cats. She has a very loving nature and enjoys being around young cats. She has always been a friendly cat and loves to be around company. It's easy for her to get on with most cats as she seems to be able to adapt her mood to that of others. E.g a happy fun loving cat: she would match the cats nature and play along with its bubblyness. A sad foreboding, pessimistic cat: she would act more sivile and listen to what it had to say, rather that try to play. She probably wouldn't even use a happy tone if it didn't suite the other cat. Although a genuinely present cat, everyone has their flaws, hers include: she doesn't like to be told what to do, unless by her leader. She finds it hard taking orders from anyone but her leader, even the wise ones she tends to ignore. It can be troublesome in times of urgency. She also tends to spend a lot of time around kits and neglects her duties, this is what convinced her to become a mother.

- Seizonsha is a very small, weak kit. He has snowy white fur with a grey tipped tail and paws. His eyes are amber and his left ear is also a dark grey colour. He was born with one blind eye, his left one, no one, except his mother. As his eyes are still closed only his mother has been able to see, when she checked over him. He is still very unstable and the healer is still unsure whether he's going to survive. He is a very docile cat and hasn't moved much yet. So far it looks as if he is going to be a lazy cat, although that's probably due to the fact that he's so young.

WISE ONES
❀ - Shizu
8 years | Female
- Shizu hasn’t aged a bit. Or at least, that is what her mate, Hideaki, would tell her all the time before he died. Shizu isn’t as youthful as she was when she was younger, but in her own little world, she will always be able to keep up with those younger than her. Her build is still graceful with her sleek white pelt and well rounded shaped head. Shizu would have been a pure white cat if it wasn’t for the unique brown, and now somewhat gray, splotches that decorated it. The whole brown explosion takes place from the back of her neck to the tip of her tail. But it isn’t just one shade of brown, it's a variety of browns, from the lightest to the darkest shade. So in other words she’s a chocolate tortoiseshell. All four of her paws are white, while the rest of her legs are marked. The whole of her tail is marked, except for the tip. Which is completely dark chocolate. Her chest is completely marked. While on her face, she has a bit of a white blaze, which means the majority of it is white from her chin, to her maw, and to her snout. The rest of her face is marked. Both of her ears are the same dark, chocolate color as her tail-tip. Her almond shaped eyes are supposed to be amber. But the majority of it is dark green. Its honestly a beautiful mix, but unique. But Shizu isn’t the young, delicate she-cat she once used to be. Instead of having a completely white and neatly groomed coat, her pelt is now messy and graying. Instead of being so muscular and healthy, she’s now grown frail from old age. And her unique amberish-green eyes droop with tiredness and pain. She doesn’t have the usually skip in her step, but a slow and tired walk. And her eyesight is failing her now that she’s older. But then again in her own little world, she’s always going to be the youthful feminine that Hideaki fell in love with. She keeps a white Sakura bud behind her ear, it is a symbol to her marriage of Hideaki. He gave it to her on just the day before. Shizu is what you’d call, a free spirit. She does exactly what she wants as she pleases. Some may think she’s lost her mind, but she hasn’t. Despite her free nature, Shizu follows Clan rules as much as any other cat. And now that she's older she never dreams of disobeying her leader. Shizu is now, living the dream, as a Wise One. Her free-spirited nature wandering almost everywhere now that she doesn't have many duties to carry on her shoulders. Shizu is overall a very easy-going molly. She gets along with everyone, well maybe not everyone. But she surely doesn't have any enemies either. Though she does feel safe to say that she has many friends within the clan. The elderly feminine is also very passionate. And she pretty much is passionate about everything, especially friendship and family, though she certainly keeps a spot in her heart for the precious kittens within the Clan. She adores wowing the young ones with her stories. But nothing can ever come before her closest relationships. This is Shuzi's most serious passion. Something she's never played around about are her relationships, once you become close to her, she will prove her loyalty to you until the very end. For the passion she has in friendship is very strong. It is the reason why she is always talking about her deceased mate because of the passionate love she had for him. It was the strongest and most purest thing she’d ever experienced. But some cats… may not respect the Wise One’s ways. But Shizu isn’t one for that type of problem. She could honestly give a care in the world that someone doesn’t like her. When someone breaks a friendship with the elder, she may be somewhat depressed for awhile. Eventually, Shizu will get over it and try again, just as she did when her mate died. Its her number one motto to get back up and try it again.

- Tatsuya comes from a clan of elite ninja, and as such, he has the looks of one. Even though he has a light fur color, he can still vanish into the shadows like any other. His fur is a light golden-cream color with golden-orange points. Typical of a Siamese, he has an angular face, sharp ears, a skinny body, a tapering tail, and almond-shaped eyes. His eyes are his best feature, being a mixture of sea-green and sky blue. He wears a fox mask to hide his face. Tatsuya works as a spy for the Oda Clan, and is very loyal to Nobunaga's orders. Not much is known about him, but he is known as mysterious, cynical, and impossibly fast. He excels at his job as a ninja, and can perform an assassination almost anywhere without getting caught.

❝ SakuraClan is not your average clan. We believe in different things, have different ways. These differences make us unique. These differences are what make us SakuraClan. ❞
SakuraClan does not believe in 'StarClan' or the 'Dark Forest'. Instead, the cats follow a traditional Japanese religion called "Shinto", or "the way of the gods". The Great Celestial Plains are where the gods live, while Yomi, the Underworld, are where the evil spirits and demons reside. The gods take on cat forms instead of human ones; if they showed their true faces, it would most likely scare the mortals. The gods never show themselves, nor do they have descendants. The healer and daimyo are more likely to see them in visions or dreams, but even then, it's very rare to communicate with a god.
- Amaterasu Oo-kami was the benevolent goddess of the sun and ruler of the universe. She is the most respected deity in SakuraClan. Amaterasu was seen as a beautiful golden Siamese with sharp yellow eyes.
- Tsukiyomi, one of Amaterasu's brothers, was the god of the moon and darkness. He appeared as a dark grey tom with silver stripes and pale blue eyes.
- Ryuujin was the god of the sea. He symbolized the power of the ocean and was able to shapeshift into a dragon. He takes the form of a blue Korat with a long tail and mint green eyes.
- Sukuna-Biko-Na was the god of healing, and is a well-known deity among healers. He appeared as a peaceful Japanese Bobtail with dark green eyes.
- Sarutahiko was the god of the earth. He appeared as a dark brown Burmese with dark amber eyes.
- Omoikane was the god of wisdom and knowledge. He was is always called upon to "ponder" and give good counsel in the deliberations of the heavenly deities. He was seen as a young, gray Burmese with yellow-green eyes.
- Hachiman was the god of war & strength. He appeared as a tall and well-muscled brown Dragon Li with sharp amber eyes.
- Inari was the goddess of foxes, harvest, and fertility. She was thought to appear as a pure white Angora with an elegant, fox-like build and gentle teal-green eyes.

While many of the herb names are Japanese, there are a few that use common, English names.
Keihi (Chinese Cinnamon Bark) - A very sweet bark found upon some trees. It has a sharp smell to it. Helps with stomachaches, nausea, and food poisoning.
Gomishi (Schisandra Berry) - A small, dark, dry-looking berry found on some leafy green plants. Helps with coughs and fevers, as well as shortness of breath.
Sanshuyu (Japanese Dogwood Fruit) - A dry, wrinkled, dark red berry that is rather sour in taste. Helps with blood flow/blood clotting as well as muscle and leg pains.
Shisoyo - A large, dry leaf, appearing as a pale green color with a brown crisp. It has a sharp scent and a bitter tang. Helps with coughs as well as helps calm nervous/shocked cats.
Hakobe (Chickweed) - A tall, bright green plant with a hard stem and broad, almond-shaped leaves. Sometimes has tiny, five-petaled flowers. Eaten to treat pneumonia, but is not as strong as catnip.
Tade (Knotweed) - A large, tall plant with hollow stems and a bamboo-like appearance. It has small, white flowers. The leaves can be chewed to a pulp and eaten to act similar to poppy seeds for relaxation and as a sleep aid. It also helps with nervousness, anxiety, and depression. Can also be applied to burns.
Daio - A small, leafy green plant usually grown near tiny waterfalls. It has a bitter smell to it and tastes rather cold. It is very useful during winter, as it cures chills and hypothermia, and can also be used to help cracked paw pads if chewed up to a fine pulp and applied.
Shōga/Ginseng - Basically ginger, which has to be dug up underground in hotter areas or places with a lot of sunlight. Has a sharp and particularly spicy taste. The root can be chewed into a pulp and eaten to help with colds, and is very effective against stomacheaches, the flu, and pneumonia (at a much lesser degree). Is ineffective against severe chest infections, but can help slow its progress.
Rosō - A licorice plant, in which the leaves are similar to a fern, being a vibrant green, sometimes adorned with small, bright flowers. Has a sharp and sweet taste. Helps with sore throats and aching muscles.
Rénshēn - A ginseng herb with red leaves and a small red berries. It has a sharp scent and an almost spicy taste to it. The leaves and berries can be eaten to help with shortness of breath, and is popular use to Wise Ones because it helps build up the immune system after recovering from a sickness.
Bamboo Stems - A tall, segmented grass with green leaves. Can be used to help mend broken bones by making splints with cobweb bandages.
Satonishiki Cherry - A sweet, delicious cherry that only grows during certain times on the Guardian Tree in Hana Valley. Is thought to be a clan delicacy and giving one to another cat means that the cat is special to them (be it as lovers/friends/family/etc.). Is effective against pneumonia and has been known to actually cure severe chest infections. However, it can also have a reverse effect if not given correctly, and can kill a cat.

SakuraClan cats do not use Warriors vocabulary. Rather, they are much like the traditional Japanese, and as such they have their own way of speaking. Below is a glossary of terms that they used.
H O N O R I F I C S
-san
Similar to "Mr." or "Miss". An honorific that is situated for almost all situations, showing a proper level of respect.
-chan
An affectionate honorific used for a close friend, a young female, or a kitten.
-sensei
It is used when referring to teachers, such as an apprentice addressing their mentor.
-kun
Usually used when speaking to young males.
-sama / -dono
Means "lord" or "lady" in English. It shows a great deal of respect and is used for others of higher rank.
-senpai
It refers to someone who is an inspiring upperclassmen - for example, an apprentice may use it with a young warrior whom they like or look up to.

Kami (神)
It specifically means ‘god’ and refers to the deities that watch over the Clan, but can also mean ‘spirit’ or ‘soul’. It refers to the soul of every living thing. SakuraClan believes that everything, not just themselves, have a kami.
Seishin (神)
Seishin (shortened: shin) means ‘spirit’. However, it refers to a dead spirit. When a living thing dies, their soul becomes a seishin. If it goes to the Forest of Lamentations, it can slowly corrupt and become a demon, a corrupted, blood-thirsty soul. Actual demons have not been seen ever since the darkness was banished.
Edo
Edo is the city of ancient Tokyo, found to the north of SakuraClan's territory. During the reign of the Tokugawa shogunate, Japan's emperor reigned in secluded majesty at the imperial capital in Kyoto. Four neighboring clans of cats can be found here - the Azai, the Shimazu, the Tachibana, and the Uesugi.

An alternate title for the daimyo to be addressed by.
Minarai
'Apprentice'. Most cats choose to use the English variant.

Rarely ever called by it's more formal name, "Takama-ga-hara", the Celestial Plains are SakuraClan's equivalent of StarClan and Silverpelt. They know what stars are, but refer to the Celestial Plain being where the stars are, a beautiful place where the good shin live alongside the gods.

The revered grimalkin nestled in a pristine duvet established with a conglomerate of exorbitantly premature bryophyte, which ergo rendered it as a pliable and comfortable stationary berth. Affairs transcended expectations as a soupçon pencil of natural light photodegraded across silver-brocaded fleece, ipso facto further safeguarding the feminine from the nippy clime beyond the lair’s exterior.
Surmised atmospheric conditions - wintertide, as one would denominate it - seemed almost amaranthine, having persevered for quite some time. But the idiosyncratically erudite physician had witnessed sigils, per se, of a newfangled season: proliferating verdure, the deliquescing of rime, etcetera. Consequently, hibernate period would evanesce anon into nil, replaced simply with the joie de vivre of the vernal phase.
Ah, what a hunter to exist within! But alas, the feminine did not regard it as such. No, it was more of a time to brood over the catalog of impregnated materfamilias, proscribing plausible lamentable demises of youth. Simply put, it was a period to travail.

This instigated an abrupt expulsion of air, which thus led the reposed tyro to joggle corpulent capitulum and shift into an upright posture. Mismatched coulee coruscated, momentarily obfuscated by the derivation of rousing from slumber.
Brushing aside the rumination, figure jounced up, humbling out the egress with jocundly meandered labial creases. A de minimis hint of bitterness addressed the beatific molly outside the chamber, to which a horripilate of prolific pelage was the sole response given to the clime.
Olfactory organs whiffed the saccharine bouquet wafting in the aerospace, peering skyward to peruse the origins of this glacé-perfumed scent. Whorls, with their rosé tinged corollas, were touncing at the hoarfrost plaguing their entirety. The glimpse had the grimalkin **** cranium in stupefaction; what a sight! Now a point of cynosure, the trainee failed to espy the masculine traipsing over, promenade executed in brief paces of spindly limbs.
“Ohayōgozaimasu, Umeko-chan!”
Dome snapped up from fugue state as the acoustics of an address permeated equidistant tympanic membranes. Ocular devices expanded upon descrying the cat.
“Eeeee! Kon’nichiwa, Susumu!”
Endearingly rotund physique transitioned forth, pushing Felidae proboscis against his chest, jovial at having a prospect to confabulate with her quasi-sib, which had metamorphosed into a sire figure, if anything.
“Shh, no need to stir up the Wise Ones - or grumpy samurai at that - from their slumber, you know how they get! Anyways, I was going to go hunting alone for the festival, but spotted you. Maybe—“
“Hai! I’d love to go!”
“Shh, remember?”
Ceruleans rested on the indefatigable neophyte, exercising prudence for the sake of eschewing a belittling. This recapitulated caution goaded a chagrined blush on the prepubescent individual’s part.
“Gomen’nasai, Susumu! But hey, maybe we could invite someone else?”
Employing slight hesitance at the query, he shrugged anon and ergo nodded eventually in sanction. Gander vetted locus, scouring for those compos mentis betimes; then, volcalizing in an articulated murmur,
“Anybody like to accompany us on a hunting expedition?”

Akiko & Takeshi | Outside of the Temple, Samurai's Den
Having woken up earlier than her cats, Lady Akiko was sitting peacefully under the frost-covered cherry trees, her eyes closed in deep meditation. The female warlord was awakening from another night of surprisingly good sleep - she'd been up all night cogitating about the upcoming festival, so she was very grateful for a simple rest. Her trademark air of authoritative majesty still shone, as always.
Another cat was wandering about the camp, eventually making his way over to Akiko. Takeshi, the head tactician, wanted to check on his leader before he gathered the samurai for a patrol. The Siamese leader looked relatively peaceful; she hadn't been as depressed as she had been over the past month. Although, she had a right to, as Lord Kotarou's murder was still fresh in her memory. He wondered if Akiko's senses were just as sharp, though. Just as he was getting close to sneaking up to her, her voice made his freeze in his tracks.
"Takeshi."
Oh, nevermind. They were razor sharp. The Oriental gasped in surprise, his blue eyes meeting Akiko's amber. He then sighed softly, shaking his head. "Ah, my lady. You never cease to amaze me with that feat of yours..."
Akiko grinned, chuckling. "I may be a senior, but I haven't lost my perception yet."
A small smile formed on Takeshi's face, his head lowering in a bow. "Should I inform our warriors of the upcoming festivities? I do feel as if they should be aware of the course of action."
"You would be well advised to do so. And meanwhile, you may organize a patrol as well."
"Yes, my lady." With a quick nod, Takeshi turned to sprint towards the samurai's den. He thought of checking on his sister, Izumi, before he did so, but dismissed the thought. He'd have plenty of time to do that later.
"Arata, Daisuke, Sora, Akane, Hideki! Meet me outside for a border patrol. Everyone else, please follow the instructions you were given for the preparation of the festival."
Tarou | Healer's Den
A small brown tomcat lay in a pile of warm feathers and mosses, his mind slowly drifting into reality as he woke. The episode he had yesterday, with all his crying, had worn him out, and he was slow to move this morning. At least he felt a lot better. Izumi and Akiko had comforted him, and he had to thank them for that. His eyelids slowly opened to reveal large orange-green circles, which peered around the den he shared with Izumi. His sensei was sleeping not too far away, her abdomen rising and falling as she breathed. He could wait here until she woke up, but Tarou was itching to get out and do something fun for a change. But his mind decided against it, and he instead chose to step outside and wait for her.
Rising to his paws, the youngling gave a satisfying stretch before stepping out of the den's egress. "Oh. D-Did I sleep too late?" He asked no one in particular. Maybe he did. That didn't matter, though. What did matter was what he was going to do today. His heart thumped a little faster in excitement, a bright smile slowly slipping onto his face as he watched the Clan come to life.
Emiko & Haruna | Minarais' Den
A little bouncing figure hopped her way out of the apprentice's den, a toothy grin lighting up her cute face. Emiko turned back to the entrance of the den, her tail lifted playfully in the air. "Haru~! You're taking too long with your grooming! Don't you wanna hunt today?"
"I told you not to call me that!" Came the snappy reply. "And yes, I'm coming." A moment later, another small cat strutted out, looking almost identical to Emiko. Haruna, Emiko's twin sister, was quite the opposite of her bubbly sibling. Sharp-tounged, rude, and the queen of drama, she didn't really make for a good friend. But Emiko didn't mind in the slightest. How she could put up with Haruna's egoism was a mystery to all. Haruna flipped her muzzle to the side, a little dramatically, before turning back to her sister. "What's going on now?"
"Ume-chan and Sumu-kun want to hunt," Haruna replied, bounding over to the two felines with a happy smile. She greeted them with a wave of her paw. "Please, Haru! It'll be fun, plus we'll be hunting for the festival!"
A grudging roll of blue eyes was all Emiko got in reply.

The neophyte addressed them with her own vivacious undulate of a sinistral forepaw.
“Ohayōgozaimasu Emiko-chan, Haruna-chan! You made it just in time! Though Susumu-kun says keep it low, don’t want to be disturbing the Wise Ones!”
In reply, Susumu sloped cranium with approval, surmised segment of anatomy reaching a low declivity. Then, upheaving it, he gestured with a muzzle in the direction of the brass torri gates, piquing intrigue.
“Indeed. Well, anyways, since we’re all gathered, I suppose we depart to the Bamboo Trail - there’s been word the rodents have been multiplying in numbers due to the coming of spring. Might not want to miss the opportunity to collecting for the pile, eh?”
Umeko executed a vigorous joggle of her pudgy capitulum, concurring to his vocables - though was halted upon spotting a familiar sepia coat.
“You all start heading out without me.”
Surprisingly, the structure of this terminology was uttered through a purr.
“I’ll catch up.”
Whilst being casted a bewildered glance by her quasi-sib, the molly departed, rollicking over to the Healer’s tyro, a smile playing firmly about labial creases.
However, upon reaching him, she received a smidgen of sheepishness, but it was instantly overwhelmed by her overall ebullient comportment.
“Kon’nichiwa, Tarou-kun! How are you? Also, wouldyoulikecomingwithusonahuntingexpedition? I mean, I knowww you don’t specifically hunt, but maybe you could, er, ‘hunt’ for those herbs of yours? It’ll be fun, I’ll even pitch in myself!”

[ Akane and Hideki ] - SakuraClan Camp
Akane's ears perked at the sound of her name. She lifted her head, her eyes narrowed as she looked around for the one who had spoken it. She saw it was Takeshi who had spoken, and she scowled. She did not like the tactician very much, but that didn't matter. She stood up, shaking out her pelt and stretching, muscles rippling beneath her glistening fur. She strolled towards the meeting area, her eyes flicking over the other cats that would be on the patrol. Her fur bristled when she saw her insolent brother, Hideki, sitting with the group.
Hideki had responded instantly to the summons to patrol. He padded out to the meeting area, and plopped down, waiting patiently. He started to look around, but he soon regretted it. The looks of disgust, and pity were the only looks he got from his clanmates. Or at least, that's what Hideki thought. Hideki's massive paws shuffled as he ducked his head, trying to hide his disfiguration. He let out a soft sigh, finally beginning to relax when none other then his sister, Akane, stormed up to him.
"What are you doing here, Hideki?!" Akane spat, her eyes flashing with anger and disappointment.
Hideki merely hung his head lower, avoiding his sisters flaming gaze. His shoulders slumped, and he cringed at her words.

Emiko & Haruna | Minarais' Den, Entrance
Emiko purred, nudging Haruna before bounding towards the entrance to the camp, not waiting for the rest of the cats. "Let's go! I wanna catch some good stuff!"
Haruna watched her twin gallop away like a freed equine, and she fought back the urge to roll her eyes as age followed. Mother Amaterasu, help this cat...
In the opinion of Haruna, Emiko was a hyper goody-two-shoes. She never seemed to be plaintive or vexed, and even if she did, it was so minor it was barely conspicuous. It inwardly perturbed Haruna that her twin was like this, but she knew that Emiko couldn't hold up that happy-go-lucky attitude forever.
Tarou | Healer's Den
Tarou's ears digressed the quick pattering of another cat approaching him, and he widened. Another genial beam made its way into his childlike features and he dipped his head low in a practiced greeting . "Ohayou gozaimasu, Umeko-san," came his formal, traditional tonality.
Blinking at her fast-paced speech, Tarou gathered what he could from her. Ultimately, his maw parted, producing disappointed yet perspicacious vocals. "Oh...I am quite sorry, Umeko-san, but I must stand by and wait for Izumi-sensei. I cannot just walk out without her approved consent first; I am only permitted to leave camp with permission. Although, I wouldn't mind helping you in your hunting endeavors."
Takeshi | Camp Entrance
Takeshi turned his muzzle towards the group, performing a prompt headcount with his scrutinizing eyes. He then caught sight of Hideki, and his eyes locked for no more than a second with the mangled tom. Something resembling sympathy flashed in Takeshi's eyes, but it was quickly overshadowed by cold.
He slipped under the giant torii gate that marked the Clan's entrance, tail twitching upwards for his group to follow into the nearby forest. "Let us depart," he meowed. "Do keep your senses alert for any suspicions along the way."

[ Hideki and Akane ] Border Patrol
Akane snorted, and stood up, shoving past her brother and padding out of the entrance with Takeshi. Her tail swished with aggravation and she perked her ears, taking in every sound. Her small paws hit the ground with soft, barely audible thumps. She put her nose in the air, taking deep breaths.
Hideki trailed led behind the patrol, his head down. His tail was dragging on the dirt floor, and he couldn't help but drag his paws a bit. He was deep in thought, and not paying attention to where they were walking. He kept tripping over air, but that didn't seem to snap him out of his dark thoughts.

[Sora, Camp]
Sora rolled over in her nest, drowsily opening her eyelids. Early morning sunshine still filtered through the rock entrance to the samurai's den, bathing the whole cavern in pale gold. The she-cat yawned, rolling over in her comfortable bedding. She was about to fall asleep again, when she heard a voice. “...Sora…!” She slowly blinked her eyes open again, trying to force her ears to listen. “...outside...border patrol…”
“Coming…” Sora mewed, her voice muffled by the mounds of bedding surrounding her. “Com....” She let herself relax a bit, letting her eyes droop back closed. Sighing with pleasure, she burrowed her way back into her nest, enveloping herself in warmth. She let herself stay there a few more seconds… or was it minutes?
Sora snapped her eyes open, suddenly alert. Did I…? She jumped out of her nest, quickly bounding her way out into the grassy camp. Wincing a little at the bright light, the she-cat let her eyes scan over the camp. There’s no way I missed it! She felt the pit of her stomach drop out, worry clenching her throat tight. Then she spied the disappearing tail of a cat swishing beneath the torii gate.
“Wait!” she cried desperately, dashing forwards after the patrol. “I’m here! I’m coming!!!”
