Lady Akiko | ClearingThe lady nodded, leaping down from the tree in a single bound, paying no heed to the cats who parted a walkway for her. "Very well, then. Let us begin the funeral." As the cats parted for the ritual, Akiko nodded at Daisuke and Arata, who cleared the way.
The Siamese held up a paw, respectfully closing the dead soldier's eyes and mouth. As the congregation gathered over, the warriors began cleansing the body of rusted blood while other went to fetch flowers for the memorial. After the deed was done, Akiko closed her eyes, bowing her head down to the black-and-white samurai's decorated body. She could now recognized this cat - it was Saburo, one of the younger warriors.
She spoke, after an eternity, her mellifluous voice strained with grief. "On this day, we are here to cherish this young life lost - Saburo's life - in his honor. I ask Mother Amaterasu, the kami, and our ancestors to look down on this warrior. He has learned the bushido code of honor and has given up his life in service of his Clan. Let the High Celestial Plains receive him as a true samurai."Beckoning a few cats forwards with a silent flick of her thin tail, the daimyo stepped back. "Family members, loved ones, and close friends of this warrior may sit vigil for as long as they see fit. Everyone else is to mourn in silence. You may not touch him or disturb his mourners." The cats crouched around the body, some stoic and quiet, some miserable and sobbing.Akiko closed her eyes, visions of the happy-go-lucky warrior fresh in her mind. Saburo wasn't an important cat, but he was well liked among the warriors for his kind and loving persona. The daimyo suppressed a sigh, waiting for a good moment to dismiss her cats. She'd have to let them get their feelings out first, as would be the respectful thing to do.

As she recognized him, Hikari burst into tears. Saburo had been a good friend of hers. The feminine rushed to his side and began to groom his pelt one last time. Once she'd finished, Hikari bowed low and licked his shoulder. "Goodbye old friend, may the gods light your way and welcome you into your home. You died a true soldier's death, protecting your Clan from harm, as I know you wanted to never grow old in retirement. I wish you the best and may you find good hunting in the High Celestial Plains. I'll forever cherish our moments we spent together, and miss you with all my heart. One day we will meet again." The Molly layed down next to her fallen friend and spoke one more, "I will accompany you until your body floats away in the river."

Tsuki remained where she was and lowered her head respectfully. He was so young, so brave, the killer would pay. She would carry out vengeance in Saburo's name, even if it meant her death. She uttered not a sound as Saburo's loved ones gathered around him. If only this had never happened, but things don't always go well for samurais.

Lady Akiko & Takeshi | ClearingAfter a long while, Akiko silently dismissed her cats, except for the ones who still wanted to mourn for a bit longer. She'd send the body to be sent down the River at sunset. Once more, she sent up a silent prayer to the gods and the seishin, hoping that this young cat's soul finds its way to the golden skies."Return to your duties, everyone," she mewed aloud. "If you so wish, notwithstanding, you may continue to sit vigil."
The majority of the cats shied away with respectful bows to their comrade, while the others stayed behind to mourn. The sun shone high in the sky; not a very appropriate backdrop for the scene below, but it was less depressing than a rainy day in the least. She turned her head towards Tsuki, and then Takeshi. "Tsuki-san. Takeshi. A moment?"
Takeshi trotted over to her, his once stoic face now attentive. "Yes, my ladyship?"Stormheart

Hikari remained next to Saburo's side, licking his wounds, the tang of blood now in her mouth. The feminine sighed and breathed in his scent, which beneath the blood, was fresh like the breeze and bamboo trees.

Lady Akiko & Takeshi | Clearing"Come."
Akiko left the mourning site with sympathetic eyes, knowing that the Wise Ones would take care of Saburo come sunset. She led Tsuki and Takeshi a secluded spot not too far away, sepia-faded tail waving in an even rhythm.
The leader pointed to the giant torii gate with her muzzle. "We are going to journey to the north, to see if we can form an alliance with one of the other clans," she meowed, voice low.
Takeshi blinked, tilting his head to the side slightly. "Do forgive my improperity, Akiko-sama," he began, with a respectful decline of his neck, "but shouldn't something like this wait until the Gathering tomorrow? Besides, who is to watch over the clan while we are gone?"
Akiko flashed Takeshi a knowing look, amusement seeming to play on her stoic features. "Do not worry. You know what to do when I'm gone, no?" At this, Takeshi blinked, then nodded, bowing low to the ground. "Hai!"
"Very good." Akiko tapped Tsuki with a paw, beckoning her to follow. "We should be back sometime before sunset. Let us go, Tsuki-san." With this, the queenly feminine turned tail, making her way to the entrance of the grassy valley. Tsuki nodded and followed her leader. "Yes Lady Akiko," she said respectfully. The Molly studied her surroundings and noticed that cats shrank back as they past. Tsuki sprinted to Lady Akiko' s side and walk to the right of her. "My daimyo, which Clan are we to try first?" She inquired.

Lady Akiko | Forest The golden Siamese tilted her head to the side, immersed in deep thought. "Well....hm. That is a very good query," she murmured, knowing that there was an assortment of others clans to choose from. The logical thing to do wouldn't be to pick one close to the territory.
The Azai Clan - and the other city clans - were out of the picture, as the giant city of Edo would be a bit too much for a forest cat to handle. The Fuma Clan was closer, but still was a bit spacey, and a little easy to get lost in. Maybe...Maybe I can try the Date. Lord Masamune might not want company at the moment, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to try.
Akiko nodded, sniffing the air and taking a sharp left. "We're going to visit the Date Clan, in the pine forests," she concluded. "We're not on bad terms with them, and I think that their lord might need some assistance as well."

Tsuki nodded. "Good choice my lady, they are sure to accept our offer," she stated. The feminine's silver-blue fur fluffed up in the breeze. "I believe we should wait for a patrol when we get to the edge of their territory to take us to their camp, that way we avoid being attacked and aren't seen as a threat," she proposed.

Lady Akiko | Date Clan Territory The daimyo nodded. "Good suggestion," she replied. A patrol wouldn't be the worst of their problems, but they might be a bit hostile to see forgiven cats on their land.A while passed, and their journey had finished after skirting around Fuma's vast forest territory. The spacey deciduous trees began to give way and transform into a more compact, pine-littered forest. Akiko could smell the drastic difference in the territories; the smell of fresh leaves was overpowered by the bitterness of pine.
As luck would have it, they reached the sheltered camp quite quickly without a single sight of another cat to stop them. Still, Akiko was alert the whole time, surveying the area with glowing amber orbs. The green flags marking the entrance to the camp came into her peripheral fairly quickly. Sure enough, the emblems of the Date Clan was printed on the flags. "I believe we're here. Let us go in discreetly; we cannot afford to cause an uproar."
Akiko slunk inside the bramble-laced entrance, her svelte form looking more like a golden snake on the forest floor. But she was abruptly interrupted by a young she-cat who halted the duo, blocking the rest of the way into the camp. Apparently, she had probably been standing guard in the interior of the camp. Her claws skidded on the loam underpaw, pushing up dirt in their wake.
The blue-gray cat's shrewd analyzation remained on Akiko, although it wavered to Tsuki as well. Defensive words proceeded to spill from her mouth. "Halt! What are you doing so deep in our land? State your business!"( Stormheart Sorry for the late reply. ;~; )

[ Izumi | Camp | Tags - - None ]
Austere gander vetted the fulsome miscellany of grimalkins, on the qui vive not to obfuscate what was espied. Oculi effectuated a nictate - once, twice, thrice - nonplussed by the sanguinary imbroglio. It had been serene merely moments prior, though then this abrupt pandemonium had manifested, of which the silver-brocaded molly had been desultorily elicited from her respective liar.
Contemporaneously, sculpted forepaws traipsed pliable physique forth, carriage issuing a seemingly nonpareil air of sangfroid, notwithstanding of the tumult bustling within bosom. After all, the feminine was a doyen at caching sentiments beneath a phlegmatic, emblematic damask.
Aegeans coruscated with unwelcoming mulls, gander perceiving the cadaver with ‘nominal’ regard. In actuality, however, the physician was immersed to what had been the fountainhead of this jaundiced homicide.
The savaged musculature was one place to commence - it pointing to an evidently non compos mentis entity. Verily, visual perception could only just identify the corpse. Yet with the lacerations - which would have indelibly marred the menial masculine had he lived - it had been quite a challenge. Saburo, she supposed, which was later confirmed by the premier’s sepulture valedictory.
Holding her posture for but a moment longer, the svelte feline departed, retreating into her lair to cogitate over what had betided.
[ Umeko & Susumu | Camp | Tags - - None ]
Heterochromic opticals trailed after a cerulean-piebald butterfly, countenance exultant with the notion of ensnaring the prepossessing invertebrate with clement forepaws. Daisuke, her pedagogue, had been truant since she’d awakened, giving her time to gaily amuse herself with the fauna - especially this winged anthropoid which had somehow soared into the tyro’s siesta chamber.
Accruing fibril tissue within derrière in the readiness to lunge, the feminine was not prepared for a nearby dolorous scream. The woebegone pule was proceeded by antsy susurrus. Jocund grin dwindled, evanescing into nil as an abrupt, uncharacteristic trepidation seized her.
It was then an efflux of light photodegraded atop a divergent grimalkin’s plane contours, which ergo cantilevered a Stygian silhouette across the now kneeling neophyte. Umeko reached a standstill, though calmed when she realized it was simply Susumu. The masculine, too, seemed overly relieved by the fact she was there.
“Oh dear gods, Lady Akiko just gave word of a murder. When she didn’t state a name, I…”
The trainee careered forward, pushing a solacing muzzle against his chest.
“I’m here, I’m here, Susu! B-but a murder?”
It was her turn to look concerned, perhaps even frightened - the antithesis of her typical bubbly nature. “…Yes, and it looks completely horrid. Whoever did it must surely be certifiable.”
Then, with a melancholy inspire, he rested his chin atop her cranium, glad to feel the warmth emanating from her scalp.
“I must return now, I kind of just… left. But a brother has to look after his sister, eh?”
And so, the two of them regressed to the site, the youngest of the two immediately becoming nauseated by the maimed remains of a once juvenile samurai. Still, she conjured the bravery to sit beside her quasi-sib, obliging herself to adjust to the glimpse of death. However, when becoming a bit too emetic, Susumu stepped in front of her in a commiserating manner, shielding her from what had become of the tom.

Lady Akiko | Date Clan Territory Looking over to Tsuki, Akiko nodded briskly at the silvery-blue feminine, granting her permission to speak. Akiko was very capable of speaking for herself, but she wanted to...test how Tsuki would react to something like this. She knew she was a very capable warrior, and a good suit for leadership.

Tarou | Healer's DenAs the morn sun began rising over the trees, the student beholded the seemingly amaranthine interment observance as it came to an eventual coda, striated caudal curled over his chiseled forepaws. Saburo was the cat's name - he hadn't be acquainted with the warrior on a personal tier, but the thought of his death made him apprehensive. The culprit of the slaying had to be someone who could perform it without causing a disturbance. No cat could perform such a sanguinary attack without sounds of agony to echo through the woods. So why was it that no cat could discover the cadaver until Daisuke and Arata's patrol? The questions nearly made his stomach bilious.
His pedagogue had emerged from their slumbering lair for a moment, regarding the sorrowful happening wordlessly and impassively, as was expected. He couldn't sense anything in her posture or gaze, yet nor did he set it up for questioning.
As the lion's share of the gathered congregation sundered to continue on with their duties for the fest, Tarou retreated back inside the den as Izumi had done, stealing a final glance at the departing cats.
Once inside, he sat on his haunches, forepaws kneading the ground as nervousness climbed up the levels of his spinal cord. Trying to calm his dazed mind, the sepia tabby took a deep breath before tremulous locutions proceeded to leak from his maw. "We...we haven't had a funeral in a while, ma'am," he whispered quietly, the statement meant to partially himself and partially to Izumi. "E-Even though we don't have confirmed evidence of who did it... What are your thoughts on the matter?" Perhaps it sounded like he was prying into her private thoughts, but at the moment, the tyro's curiosity overtook him.

We have come to meet with your leader to propose an offer of friendship. If you would take us to him we would ever be so greatful, noble samurai." She spoke, voice full of grace and charm.

Lady Akiko & Haku | Date Clan TerritoryGood job.
Akiko's lips curled up slightly, the closest thing to a smile Tsuki would get. The blue feminine's eyes narrowed, but she flicked her tail as her head eventually skewed away from the two SakuraClan cats, now facing the pine-laced entrance with her aegean eyes. "Very well," she meowed, her tone calm, maybe a little friendly. "Come with me and we will discuss the situation with my leader. I'm Haku, by the way.""Pleasure to meet you, Haku-san." As Haku ducked under the rest of the brambles, Akiko followed suit, seeing that the camp was actually hidden as a giant grassy clearing with stone dens skirting around. It looked...organized to say the least.
Haku, who had bounded far ahead, made her way to a giant den decorated with the Date clan emblem. "Lord Masamune! Kojuro! We have visitors." Akiko sat down, patiently waiting to greet the young leader and his commander once more. They'd only met at Gatherings, and even so, they were rare.Stormheart

[ Izumi | Healer's Lair | Tags - - Tarou ]
Plumed caudal coiled about exterior of both ulnas, reposed comportment connoting to perspicacious cerebration. With the molly’s acumen and acuity in lugubrious affairs, it came as no bombshell when a paltry, ephemeral interlude transpired for the feminine to concoct a cerebral delineation of what had eventuated. Notwithstanding to their recondite particulars, the postulate formulated had some distinguishable value, per sé, if inquired apropos her standpoint over the matter; which was just the manifestation when the ardent neophyte averred a querying utterance.
Staving off from opining for an interminable lull, it gave the premonition as though the tyro’s scruples had fallen to impervious ears. Gander simply perused the distant bulwark, physiognomy betraying nil but a phlegmatic, almost blasé stare.
Then, ultimately, at a haphazard recess, she enunciated the theorem in her anomalous reticent method.
“Cat. Definitely cat. Perhaps not one, but several, enough to ambush and thus muffle the cries of an astonished victim. After killing said entity, these felines proceeded to manipulating the body, therefore instilling fear within the targeted Clan - ours.”
Rosette shells suddenly commenced pivoting in order to accrue any babel beyond the contemporaneous locus. But, when tympanic membranes could detect nothing, ceased the activity.
“Rouges could have very well been the cause of this. But then again, there’s still the Oda Clan to worry about, but they haven’t been much trouble since…”
With a single, placid nictate she concluded her ideology on a sort of cliffhanger, rather indifferent to how Tarou digested it.
“And you, Tarou-kun? What are your thoughts?”
Though typically insouciant to the judgement of others, the physician thought it necessary to find out how her trainee perceived the circumstance as a form of training.

Tarou | Healer's DenThe young male harked intently to his sensei's shrewd, pensive presupposition on the manslaughter, tympanic membranes inched forward in undivided attentiveness. Sapient encephalon discerned her words, and his oculi enlarged in slight confound she spoke; it was as if she was cognizant of the questions tarrying in his intellect.
At her agog solicit for his own sentiment on the forlorn conditions their sept was in, the sepia tabby directed his gaze to the smooth earth of the lair, as if it possessed an air of being the most interesting thing in the world. Pink shells twisted rearward, as if to essay any prying voices from al fresco.
After a long interval of neither parties uttering nil, Tarou assumed he'd earned a prerogative to speak after his mentor had terminated her words. Thoughtful vocables elicited from his maw, quiet and kit-like. "That's exactly what I was thinking... I thought it was an individual cat, however. But I can see where you're coming from, it being caused by multiple felines. They possibly amushed him at night or early morning, leaving him with the intent to bleed out with no witnesses to view it. Akiko-sama didn't mention the Oda, but we can never be quite sure."
He nodded slowly, looking rather unnerved for a moment at Izumi's near mention of that...past event. He hadn't been born when the hostilities happened, but he'd hear vague stories from the Wise Ones about some sort of battle that happened in the past. When questioning about it to Akiko, he noticed that the daimyo looked pained and unwelcoming; she didn't want to talk about the event. But surely there was something he didn't know about it... What did the Oda do to his clan for the two to be so hostile?
Wanting to change the subject, Tarou leaned forward, his intent gaze now on his teacher. "Sensei...? Do you know what happened in the, um...incident back then?"
He wasn't sure if it was a war or murder that occured back then, something that not even his leader wanted to converese on, but he just had to know.ᔕɿɱƿՆעᗰעς੮ע
