Scarletdrift -x-----------x-
Scarletdrift nodded. "We'll go carefully, then," he said. He didn't always agree with Spottedfur, but he certainly respected the senior warrior's experience. "I'll take the front. Mudfleck, you can watch our rear? Just in case BurdockClan set up some sort of ambush. If we run into trouble you can take the left flank, Spottedfur, and Mudfleck can go right. I'll do my best to give you both an opening."
It was a common tactic, used over and over by YewClan's warriors and drilled into their apprentices until they knew the formation on reflex. Scarletdrift lived for the thrill of taking center: throwing himself at the enemy, knowing his Clanmates were protecting his flanks. There was a simplicity, there, only him and his opponent, the rest of the world blurring out of focus. Even the thought of a fight gave Scarletdrift a rush of energy, spiking the fur on his ruff as the forest bloomed into vibrant color.
"Let's go." It took a lot of restraint for Scarletdrift to hold himself to a steady pace as he followed the trail of BurdockClan scent into YewClan's forest. He kept his body and tail low, knowing his bold white pelt would stand out above the ferns. A blind kit could have followed this trail--Scarletdrift often had to lift his paw over fallen branches and snapped twigs.
And then he heard the howl. Low and baying, he recognized it as one of the farm dogs--a PlumClan cats had called a hound dog, he remembered. He checked over his shoulder, making sure the two warriors were still behind him, only then continuing forward. It wasn't much longer before he saw the scene: the dog, low to the ground but heavy with fat and muscle; the tree, a wide-branched beech with smooth bark, chipped and scored with scratches; the cat, white and grey with their fur puffed out like a burr.
The treed cat saw Scarletdrift from their vantage, locking on with frantic yellow eyes. "Help! Please!" he called.
At least the dog didn't spot the YewClan patrol, busy howling at the foot of the tree while it's thick paws dug at the base of the trunk. Scarletdrift turned to the warriors. "We can scare it off," he said softly, not wanting to draw attention their way, even if he doubted the dog could hear anything past its own noise.

Scarletdrift Camp - Prancing about
-x-----------x-
Man did he feel good today.
Maybe it was the weather, finally warm enough that he felt the pooling sunlight in his bones; maybe it was the greenleaf growth, with birds chattering in the trees and foliage whistling in faint winds; maybe it was that juicy robin he'd picked off the fresh-kill pile that morning all for himself, a luxury he hadn't allowed himself all leaf-bare and new-leaf when prey was thin.
Maybe it was simply a good day to be Scarletdrift.
He stretched, his paws quivering as he yawned wide. He shook out his fur, fluffing it--he'd already groomed every strand in place, the ginger markings popping against the silky white--and struck a pose, preening and showing off. As a treat. He deserved it today. Scarletdrift had to make sure everyone else knew how wonderful he was feeling, spread the joy, you know? He might even inspire somecat.
The white warrior let his vanity stew. He imagined Icepath asking him how, exactly, he got his long fur to be so soft? Like downy feathers, like tussocks of sedge bent by deer nests, like cloud. He pictured how Spottedfur would admit that he was always jealous of Scarletdrift's fighting skills and how the tom would ask for tips on his own form. He would show the senior warrior a new trick and his eyes would light up because he'd never thought of that before, and Scarletdrift made it look so easy...
He purred a low hum as he pranced in the sunlight, light on his paws. His tail waved behind him, a symbol of his good mood and even better looks. He felt like he was floating as he did laps around camp, the light strain in his muscles from the trot only stoking his ego.
Suddenly he jumped forward, a pounce and a battle leap mashed into one ecstatic movement, accompanied by a triumphant mrow. He caught a falling leaf between his paws, rolling entirely forward before coming back to his feet in a small hop, piercing the leaf with all his front claws.
Yeah, nothing was going to stop him today. Scarletdrift grinned, swaggering off with his head held high.
-x-----------x- [[ OOC : I wanted more Scarletdrift in my life so have a scene of him prancing about. ]]

Icepath
The molly's head recoiled, her hackles raising and ears flat against her head as she overlooked the furious deputy. Her claws unsheathed, digging into the soil as a way to keep her from lashing her. It is not the time to fight. Icepath rolled her shoulders, forcing her thick coat to lie flat. The young cat's petty insults offended Icepath, but she knew what would happen if she lashed out, she knew all too well.
Tail curling her paws, cold eyes unblinking, she stared at Frostspeck, brows furrowed. She would not speak, but she would challenge.
OOC: Icepath is very angry, but this is where her thoughtful trait comes in. Not that she knows she did something wrong. Also included some realistic cat behavior.

Stormkit
The entrance to camp, reached after ascending the defended routes up to the slope YewClan called home, was where Stormkit was waiting today. Earlier, she had seen Scarletdrift leave for a border patrol alongside Spottedfur and Mudfleck. She was unaware of the events of their stint near the BurdockClan border. All she had in mind was to send him and his cohort her best regards upon their return.
Sure enough, her ears pricked up at the sound of the returning patrol's pawsteps. They seemed exhausted, but satisfied at a job well done under Scarletdrift's leadership. With a twitch of her whiskers and a quiver of her tail, she bounded over to meet them halfway.
"Welcome back!" she meowed. "And Scarletdrift, well done today!"

Spottedfur : BurdockClan border patrol Spottedfur's silver gaze fixated on Mudfleck, his ears twitching at the tom's question. In his opinion, there was no need to question Scarletdrift's decision. They needed to get rid of the threat now before it became too late. The consequences could be fatal. He wasn't going to reprimand Mudfleck for his question since it seemed a bit trivial.
As Scarletdrift explained his plan, Spottedfur nodded in agreeance. "Of course, Scarletdrift," he mewed as his tail lashed nervously behind him.
Once the white and red tom was leading the patrol towards trouble, Spottedfur kept his lean figure low and one inch above the undergrowth. He looked behind, making sure that Mudfleck was with them. The scattered twigs and leaves created a bit of a challenge for Spottedfur. Still, he did his best to dodge them knowing that they would make a sound if stepped on.
The low howl caused the speckled warrior's fur to bristle. He quickly refocused on Scarletdrift, who had looked back before moving forward. Great, it's a BurdockClan cat and a hound dog, Spottedfur thought to himself. Things weren't looking good, especially for the BurdockClan warrior. They looked terrified as the large dog continued to howl at the white and grey cat incessantly.
Spottedfur glanced at Scarletdrift and then Mudfleck. The white warrior was right; their patrol needed to scare off the hound dog. "Yes, we can," he responded, quickly glancing back at the BurdockClan cat. "How do you want to do this, Scarletdrift? It's your patrol, your call."

quokka Frostfleck
Frostfleck stared into Icepath's eyes angrily. She could see that the healer was challenging her, and realized that StarClan would be furious at her for attacking a healer! She's supposed to follow the Warrior Code after all and be a good deputy, even if she doesn't feel like one. The ginger she-cat took deep breath, her heart rate decreasing after a few long heartbeats. She lowered her hackles, and sheathed her claws. Her eyes dilated. "I'm sorry for lashing out at you." Frostfleck mewed finally. "Lately, I'm been unsure if I am the right cat to be deputy." She confessed finally. "After-all, I rather be a warrior and spend more time hunting and going on adventures than assigning cats on patrols!" "I know what you are challenging me for. Which cat do you think will be make a better deputy than me?" Said Frostfleck.

Scarletdrift -x-----------x-
Exhaustion and satisfaction were two sides of the same coin, amplifying one another in a glorious feedback loop: the more Scarletdrift felt the soreness of his legs, the more he realized how awesome he'd been in the fight; and the more he felt pride for his actions, the more he realized he deserved a nap.
Oh, he wasn't above bragging about the fight for the rest of the moon to anyone who asked (or didn't ask, but looked like they'd listen), but as he grew older, the post-battle energy rush evolved into a post-battle lethargy, like eating a good meal. And it had been a long day: after chasing off the dog, they had to escort the BurdockClan cat to the border, then there'd been polite talk with the BurdockClan deputy who wanted to know what had happened, then another polite chat with their leader, and they'd still had to finish the rest of the patrol.
Now, Scarletdrift's paws were a bit shaky, a result of too much energy burned in only a few hours. And he still wasn't done: Bubblingstar would expect a report from the day's events, especially since this was the second dog found on the territory this moon. Scarletdrift drooped, but as patrol leader, it was his duty to report back to his leader. "Welcome back!" The voice startled him, making the white tomcat jump, fur bristled, still on edge from the day's events.
Stormkit wasn't so small anymore--her apprentice ceremony would be any day now--but she was still small enough to be easily missed underfoot. "And Scarletdrift, well done today!"
He forced his fur down, his lip curled slightly as he stepped around the grey kit. "You're old enough to know not to stand in the middle of the path, Stormkit," he snapped, mostly to give himself the chance to calm his racing heart. After the day's events, the shot of adrenaline made his head spin. "Not every cat has the luxury of loitering around." That was more a grumble, the warrior jealous of Stormkit's lack of responsibility.
Without waiting for a response, he moved past Stormkit, trying not to slump as he crossed to the leader's den where Bubblingstar would surely be resting his broken leg. Beside him, the entrance to the warrior's den yawned invitingly and it took great willpower to keep his feet from following his nest's siren call. "Just one more thing," he said under his breath, blinking to focus on the leader's den. "Then sleep."

Icepath
Icepath stood, already towering over the deputy as she stood to her full height. She cocked her head slightly, looking down on the deputy. The silence stretched on 'till Frostfleck spoke. She listened to molly speak about her insecurity as deputy and her preference of being a warrior. It clicked in Icepath then, Frostfleck might have assumed she didn't agree with her being deputy.
The smoke molly nodded her head, letting the ginger cat know that she had heard her apology. She had to stop from chuckling, Icepath didn't want to pick a new deputy. The stress of a new one was already affecting YewClan, assigning another might add more unwanted stress. However, YewClan needs strong leadership.
"I only support those who are strong enough to support YewClan." Her gaze narrowed and cracking voice quiet and in a low tone.
"So can you?"

BUBBLINGSTAR - Scarletdrift's report Sat at the lip of his den, Bubblingstar watched Scarletdrift tiredly make his way across the camp. The pale ginger tom's eyes flicked toward Stormkit, considering, before acknowledging the warrior with a dip of the head, " Scarletdrift, how was it out there?" he asked, and shuffled in his position a bit, trying to get comfortable without jostling his lame leg. The splint Icepath had wrapped it in itched. And the prospect of being cooped up in his den for much longer was becoming unbearable. So, a bit stir-crazed, Bubblingstar indulged a wild hair. Icepath was feeling ansty, her fer prickled and tail stirred the soil underneath her. She batted a few herbs away, the restlessness in her paws causing them to crumple. She fluffed out her coat, shaking dust from it as she hurriedly exited the healer's den. Her cold gaze flitted over the warriors' den, perhaps a stroll in the forest would do. Icepath didn't trust herself to go wandering, with how she was feeling, she was bound to get was lost or distracted.

@legendarydoggoFrostfleck"Yes" meowed Frostfleck. "I support cats who are strong enough to support YewClan." She was at peace with herself, smiling happily into the greenleaf sun. "I'm strong enough to be the deputy of YewClan, and I also agree that picking a new deputy would be too much of a burden for YewClan to handle, especially after the former deputy, Bramblespots died so suddenly." She just needs to get used to being the deputy, and not to force her stress onto others by attacking other cats. "Since I've finished my deputy duties now, I can go on a little adventure to the Rushing Creek! I want to see if there are any HUGE fish swimming in there!" Frostfleck laughed joyfully. "Bye Icepath! I promise I will come back if I get hurt or something during my adventure!" And she was off.

Stormkit
Stormkit had to take a step back when Scarletdrift jumped almost out of his fur. Her intentions were at least pure, and his fight or flight response had disengaged, but his sharp tone prompted an immediate flattening of her ears. She goes out of her way to give the patrol her good blessings, and this is how she's treated?
"I know," she began to reply, "but I can at least welcome you back, right? Besides, it won't be long before I'm an-"
She stopped talking as soon as she realised Scarletdrift was walking away regardless.
"...Apprentice."
Returning to the nursery, (and hoping she didn't just make herself look silly in front of her dad), Stormkit ruminated on Scarletdrift's conduct. She's realised that her friendly nature and willingness to make her clanmates' day a bit brighter was often being taken for granted. Her little mind came to the conclusion that her efforts were being dismissed because she was still a kit. One of these days, the adults would stop looking down on her all the time.

Scarletdrift -x-----------x-
Poor Bubblingstar. Scarletdrift was glad the leader had managed to save Dapplepaw--of course he was, risking one's life to save a Clanmate was near the top of a leader's job description--but now he'd be stuck for moons in camp with that broken leg. It didn't look comfortable.
Seeing Bubblingstar in such a compromising state made Scarletdrift stand up straighter, as if he had to compensate for his leader's temporary weakness. "Scarletdrift, how was it out there?" Bubblingstar said as he entered.
Scarletdrift dipped his head. "Eventful." Scarletdrift's voice was raspier than usual, as if it had already started falling asleep without waiting for the rest of him. "A BurdockClan warrior was chased into our territory by a dog. We managed to fight it off--Spottedfur, Mudfleck and I--and helped make sure it left Clan territory. A few bruises, but no injuries to our patrol or the BurdockClan warrior. As soon as the dog got it through it's thick skull that it was outnumbered," (and outclassed, he added to himself with a smug flick of his ears), "it turned tail and fled. Cowardly thing, really."

Mudfleck
on patrol // with scarletdrift & spottedfur Brownie Sand
Mudfleck worked his claws impatiently as he listened to Scarletdrift's plan. Giving a nod of approval, and feeling a surge of pride in his old mentor. He had to credit the older cat for teaching him everything he knew, for expanding his mind to create new, and probably even better, skills to share with his clans. One day maybe even he would share with his apprentice. But that day would come when it was ready. In due time.
But now it was time to put their skills to the test. Giving Scarletdrift a curt nod, he followed after the tom, flashing a glance at Spottedfur. He wasn't very fond of the senior warrior, but he respected him, as one should to the senior warriors in the Clan. They didn't often see eye to eye, but now was not the time for petty arguments. They had to save this BurdockClan cat.
Setting off briskly, Mudfleck kept his senses alert. His nose scrunched up at the rank scent of dog. Twolegs and their stupid mutts, what was the purpose of having such foul brutes? A low baying sound made the young warrior halt, exchanging a look with the rest of the patrol before he followed after Scarletdrift once more. Hazel eyes widened at the sight of the stocky, fat creature. He sniffed disdain at the desperate cry for help that came from the gray cat trapped above them. They'd owe YewClan for this act of kindness.
The ticked tabby nodded curtly as Scarletdrift reviewed the plan, flexing his claws and shooting yellow daggers at the dog. "I'll flay that beast."

Stormkit could've sworn she saw a mischievous gleam in Bubblingstar's eyes as she passed the medicine den. Ever since she was small, Bubblingstar was her hero — a kindhearted and intelligent leader with a fascinating aura that she couldn't help but admire.
But, right now, she was about to witness her idol's more grounded side. A side that couldn't resist a good laugh every once in a while.
Stormkit hesitated before going back to the nursery. Where was this little gesture going...?

The tom was clearly exhausted, anyone could see that. It made him feel a little bad for what he was going to do next. Bubblingstar let his eyes wander over Scarletdrift's shoulder, before tensing where he sat. He widened his eyes dramatically, voice dropping to a low tone, " Don't move." Raising a careful paw to the other's side, he held it there for a long moment- pausing for dramatic effect, and then lightly cuffed the warrior on the head. " Get some sleep!" he chirped, as if nothing had happened. Getting his legs underneath him to toddle away from Scarletdrift like a particularly inebriated bird. Bubblingstar held in a laugh, sending a wink at Stormkit when he spotted her watching from afar.

Stormkit
Playing along with Bubblingstar's joke, Stormkit froze, dropping her tiny body as low to the ground as she could. Looking behind her, she watched on as he raised a forepaw... before bopping Scarletdrift on the head! Stormkit could be heard shrieking with laughter as Scarletdrift took the hit and Bubblingstar hobbled away.
But as he returned to his nest to rest, he-
No. Way. That did not just happen. He met Stormkit's eye and gave her a little wink of acknowledgement. Her hysterics came to a halt with a loud gasp. Stormkit's silver eyes glistened in awe, her tail bristling as she just about held back a squeal.
AaaahGreatStarClanBubblingstaracknowledgedmethisisthebestdayever! thought Stormkit, beaming all the way back to the nursery. She resisted the urge to blurt out how cool she thought he was, remembering he was still the clan's leader and such fangirling wasn't exactly a model of respect for his authority.
