The path to the medicine den was one Stormkit had travelled several times in her life by now. Whether it Spottedfur bringing her in for checkups or just to observe Icepath at work and study her use of herbs, it was a pleasantly familiar journey. There was always a fragrant scent of herbs wending its way out, too, so if her vision failed her one day, she figured her nose would be a reliable guide, and Icepath a welcome presence.
However, given Icepath's grief the previous moon, Stormkit had wondered if the medicine cat still held any resentment towards her for intruding or trying too hard to help. She had been called to the medicine den personally, so Icepath must've had an important point to make.
With Spottedfur's permission, (she only recently figured out the proper pronunciation for that word!), she padded over from the nursery to the mouth of the medicine den, tapping the soil with her tail in an odd knock.
"I'm here, Icepath," she mewed. "You wanted to speak to me?"

(sooo I had every intention of replying to this but honestly I was kind of expecting like one or two longer story posts every couple days but I think in practice it's more back-and-forth than I can keep up with right now. tragic, bc Frostfleck would have been a fun character, but it is what it is. so I'm probably gonna have to drop, unfortunately)

After taking a few seconds to process Icepath offering her apology, Stormkit nodded in understanding. Several sunrises worth of contemplation led to her acknowledging with the pain Icepath went through after what happened to Bramblespots. Still, the incident did leave wounds in the moment, so she appreciated the medicine cat's concern, even if it took time to arrive.
"Apology accepted. I think I get why you acted that way, though. You just wanted to be alone. And me trying to help... well, it wasn't helping. So, I'm also sorry."
Make it up to her... Icepath's unfaltering tone came as a bit of a surprise, but there was one thing that sprung to mind with just as much intention.
"We could sort the herb stores together," said Stormkit, silver eyes glancing at the collection of plants resting in the den. "I'd like to hear about what you've gathered recently."

She smiled, her tail thumping against the ground and tiny canines peeping out from her smile. The molly's ears flicked as she listened to the kits words, pride making her heart swell.
Truth was, Icepath was often cut off from her clanmates, taught from a young age not to get close in order to prevent certain...transgressions. She beamed, in awe that Stormkit could easily forgive her, and would want to stay in long enough to learn some herbs.
"Of course," She purred, dark gray muzzle turning towards the shadowed healer's den. There were few herbs, she would have to collect some later. Maybe she could take Mudspeck with her, he was free for today. Wild garlic is really low. She frowned before pulling out a few marigold and goldenrod stocks.
"This is marigold," She unsheathes a claw, pointing to the plant. "When made into a poultice it can help with all sorts of skin conditions, mostly inflammation." Icepath purred, happy and a little proud to be sharing the knowledge she had spent her whole life gaining.
OOC: I imagine her mentor was a little tough on her.

The sight of Icepath's claw made Stormkit's eyes pop out of her head for a second before realising she was just pointing out the features of marigold. Its saffron petals and bright green stem attracted the little one's attention, and their scent was strong, sweet and worth remembering in future. Talking of nice-smelling herbs:
"Oh, wait a minute! Maybe, if you're lucky, you can find some catmint?" she purred. "Dapplepaw says it smells super good! They'll really get growing once greenleaf comes around, right?"
A comfortable silence fell over the medicine cat den for a spell...
"Icepath," Stormkit asked out of the blue, "Do you think I would make a good medicine cat one day?" |

The molly flinched, her heart racing. Though she was excited at the prospect, she truly wondered if the kitten meant it. She could, any cat could with enough practice, but Icepath didn't think it was the best idea. Certainly not when you were naive as a kit and couldn't predict nature's outcome.
She nodded, her gaze focused on the herbs and organizing after showing them to Stormkit. "You could, I bet you'd be great with enough practice." Icepath purred, her tail thumping against the ground with a mix of joy and anxiety. Icepath wasn't an old cat, far from it, but she knew that the wilderness was a harsh place to live, she could pass unexpectedly, and it was probably time to train an apprentice...but she didn't think it was a good idea.
She spoke up, much to her own dismay. "I wouldn't mind having you as my apprentice."

also TheKeenGlint it is your choice what path Stormkit goes down, but you can also wait and base your choice off what the simulator chooses. iirc, it's 50% if a kit has the "interested in herbs" trait that they'll ask to be a healer's app, if it's more exciting for you to keep that choice in the simulator's hands. either way, that choice will come next thursday so you'll have a week to think on it hehe]] |

Dapplepaw felt her cheeks flush as stormkit Laughed at her, and waited for her to contain her giggling “You never said I couldn't hide in any of the dens!” stormkit said with a mischievous expression.
The apprentice gave an annoyed huff “I shouldn’t need to tell you not to go into other cats' dens” she said in a tone that suggested this was the most obvious thing on earth “It's rude! You should've been able to figure that out on your own” Dapplepaw said rolling her eyes. "Not like Its some big mystery"

BUBBLINGSTAR - DOG CHASE//PART TWO
Bubblingstar barely has time to brace himself before the dog lunges.
He dodges the snap of its jaws with a frazzled hiss, managing to score a weak scratch in retaliation. It does the trick of ensuring Dapplepaw leaves the dog's radar entirely- what that means for him is another thing altogether. He can only take a few select swipes back, the majority of his energy focused on keeping out of the beast's teeth.
It can't last, obviously. He has no plan- he doesn't have the time to come up with one. Energy rapidly dwindling with every frantic twist and hiss he pulls. Bubblingstar isn't sure why it's such a surprise to him when the dog finally does connect; sharp teeth crunching down on his leg hard. The screech that leaves his body doesn't sound like him at all, claws scrabbling to do something, anything.
Something wet and hot pops over his paw at one desperate swipe. The whine of pain from the dog isn't just a relief, it's a blessing. Bubblingstar grinds his claws down, until the dog drops him with a sharp yip. He gets a flash of it fleeing with its tail between its legs before he hits the ground with an audible thump.

Stormkit took Icepath's hesitation to mean that, no, she wouldn't be suited for the way of a medicine cat. It made sense — her priority had, for the longest time, been impressing Bubblingstar. But the events of the past few moons prompted her to reassess her goals. She had all those herb facts stored away, and training to be a medicine cat would mean putting them to good use. And, if word of mouth from Gathering attendees was anything to go by, they could communicate with StarClan! Stormkit wondered, then, if she could hear from passed on cats like Bramblespots and get to know them better.
She'd be lying if she said the path didn't have its appeal. So, despite hearing a twinge of uncertainty in Icepath's answer, she couldn't help but smile at Icepath's reply.
"If you do," she mewed back, "I promise I won't let you down. I'll always do my best!"

Stormkit watched Dapplepaw's exasperated expression, her ears folding downwards as the apprentice complained about her choice of hiding spot. Needless to say, that was where the giggles ended.
"Dapplepaw," she sighed, "You don't have to get like that about it. It's only a game! I'm not going to intrude on the dens otherwise. Why, where would you have hidden?" She flicked her tail to one side for emphasis as if batting away fleas.

From what I'm seeing through conversations in the discord, the bigger the value, the less likely it is to happen. I thought it was more a "1/x" but that means a cat is more likely to die from a beesting than a broken bone... idk it might still be that. if so, he has a 1/60 chance to die of the broken bone, 1/5 chance for it to infect. Idk if it rolls this every turn, or just the turn the injury is received. ]] |

I still would like to let people take turns leading rp if their cat was named, but it does lead to awkward situations where the starter doesn't put anything and the whole patrol drops for the rest. If you have any ideas on this situation, I'm all ears. Hopefully we'll have good enough communication that, if a player knows they cannot be available the day the moon drops they'll say something, and any events they have can default to another player; that's really the easiest way. But it does require communication. ]] |

The rain had finally stopped, for now. Rays of sunlight shone down into the ridge that sheltered MossClan. Mudfleck lay stretched in the faint rays, grooming his fur in languid strokes. It had been the first warm day in ages, it seemed. Perhaps leaf-bare was finally loosening its icy grip on the clans. Whatever it was, the ticked tom wasn't complaining. New-leaf would come and with it brought surging new energy into the tom.
With a sigh, the warrior rose to his paws and shook out his pelt. Green eyes searched the clearing for someone, anyone, to bother. His paws tingled when his eyes landed on just the cat- Scarletdrift. A low purr began in his chest, and he flexed his claws in excitement. Usually roughhousing was something you saw in kits or young apprentices. But even warriors needed to release their energy in playfulness sometimes.
Dropping into a crouch, the tom began to sneak up on his enemy, his green eyes narrowed to slits as he neared the ginger and white tom. A mock growl rose from Mudfleck as he wiggled his haunches and leaped for his clanmate. With a yowl, he fastened onto Scarletdrift's back, "Think fast!"

"Oh yes, I'm sure we need that plenty." He mewed, sitting down while he waited for the silver molly to do what medicine cats did. Mudfleck couldn't quite imagine spending his time playing in plants all day- not that medicine cats jobs weren't serious! It took real skill and patience, which he certainly lacked.
Another rumble of thunder sounded from the sky above, and Mudfleck averted his gaze to the graying sky. "I envy the cats who has to get caught in this rain." He muttered wryly. |

I think if the starter of the patrol doesn't put up anything within 36 to 48 hours, the second person of the patrol could start it, maybe? I suppose this would depend on the character's rank. Although the patrol would be quick and short, at least there would still be a patrol. As for the communication part... we could find a quicker way of communicating? unless we decide to assume after 36 hours and the patrol leader has not posted or told any person about what's going on, we would just move forward with the patrol. ] |
