"I hate feeling like I'm troubling you..." Midnightstream sighed, though she made no move to deny the tom coming to her side. Rather, she looked at her paws and shrugged. "You already are helping to care for more kits than anyone else in the Clan. I hope you don't feel like you need to be obligated to think about mine as well at all times." She shook her head, fretting as they walked. "Darktail's already lost enough these past few moons. Knowing I could make him worry makes me feel awful." "Well... I mean, I do like she-cats. I like everyone. I could, that is, I think! But... Tigerpaw's Tigerpaw. And Tigerpaw's the best." Flurrypaw tried to explain, before he smiled to himself at the mention of the older apprentice. He shook his head, before he laughed. "Drizzlepaw would get all shy if she heard you or anyone calling her pretty! She's really squirrely about that stuff." He seemed to droop. "I don't like seeing her sick, not one bit." Blizzardstorm shook his head, "Don't. Darktail is my distant kin after all, which means you are too." he mewed with a soft smile. "Plus, helping with the kits and the nursery was always something my mother enjoyed doing. Now that's she's gone, it makes me feel closer to her again. I'm sure she will look down on your kits and watch over them just as much as mine." "Too many cats are sick right now, it's sad to see the whole clan down." Stumppaw mewed with a frown. "I don't know what I would do if my dad got sick, he's all I got." “You really are too kind.” Midnightstream complimented as she allowed the tom to assist her towards the medicine den. “I can see where Flurrypaw gets his endless well of care from, with Featherfoot as a father and you as a mentor.” She laughed, before she grimaced as another uncomfortable stomach ache hit her. “We’ve got the best medicine cat in the Clans!” Flurrypaw bragged, referring to his great aunt with bright eyes. “If your father gets sick, she’ll get him back on their paws! Just like she’s doing with Drizzlepaw. She… she’ll be just fine soon, I have to believe it. So, it’ll be the same with anyone else!” He nodded.

Blizzardstorm matched Midnightstream's pace as they made the short walk across camp. "Flurrypaw's been an easy apprentice. He's never looking for trouble when we're training. I'm glad I was chosen to be his mentor."
"Has Drizzlepaw ever been sick before? We're young so we're bound to get better quickly right? You're right though, Peachdapple can definitely handle it. SHe's the best!" Stumppaw mewed, glancing toward the medicine cat den. A flicker of doubt ran through her though when she remembered that the medicine cats had failed to save her mother. Brackenheart swore they had done everything they could to save Flashfire when the kitting started to go wrong, but if they had been better... maybe she would have a mother.

Peachdapple lifted her head as soon as she spotted Blizzardstorm coming in. She had just finished giving Drizzlepaw and Brokenwing their herbs for the day. She flicked an ear, noticing Midnightstream coming in as well. She looked at Blizzardstorm seriously. "Is everything alright?" "Nah. Not this bad. She had a sniffle when we were kits, but she got over that fast." Flurrypaw shook his head, before he admitted. "I wish I was the sick one instead of her. She just looks so small. I hate it." He muttered, before he shook his bitterness away and looked at the other apprentice. "You look kinda off. Something cross your mind?"

“I understand.” Lightningstar let out a short sigh. “Doesn’t make it easier to have you retiring.” He touched his nose to his friends ear. “Just promise you won’t turn into a grumpy elder.” He teased.
Ravenshade shuffled her paws awkwardly. “I don’t want anything to happen to you.” She said quietly, not meeting her gaze. “If revy or my father found you…” she trailed off.

“I’ll be sure to leave the grumpy elder role to you.” Sunthroat said with a rumbling purr and standing up. “Shall we get started then? We should get that search patrol sent out soon, and I know that there are three very eager apprentices awaiting their ceremony.”
Leopardfrost pressed her fur gently against Ravenshade’s, “I wouldn’t let them catch me. And if they did, I would have you there with me, wouldn’t I? But I get why you’re concerned, and I know that it wasn’t easy for you to leave that life behind.” She mewed.

Ghostscreech sighed, looking over to where Lightningstar was talking to Sunthroat. “Lightningstar is going to call for a meeting soon and let the clan know what happened. After the meeting, I’ll be leading a search patrol into the Twolegplace to see if we can find any trace of Arcticbreeze.” He said, nudging the rest of the squirrel over to Frostmoon. “We have to find her.” Frostmoon mewed severely, her eyes sharp with determination as she worried for her clanmate’s safety. She looked at Ghostscreech and mewed. “I thought the Twolegplace patrols would work for both our Clans, but now…” She sighed deeply. ”I know, so did I. That’s why I had made the suggestion, but now.. it’s only caused us more harm than good.” Ghostscreech said, shaking his head. “We’ll find out where they took Arcticbreeze and the others.”

Blizzardstorm glanced from Midnightstream to Peachdapple, "Midnightstream said she wasn't feeling very well, so I offered to accompany her to see you. Her stomach's been hurting."
Stumppaw forced a smile. "N-no, I'm just thinking about something, well, someone. It's just a thought, though, so don't worry about it."

I think I might be getting sick, I just… don’t want anything to happen.” Peachdapple listened to her, before gently guiding her to the nest. “We’ll look you over, and figure this out. Blizzardstorm, thank you for getting her here. I imagine she was hesitant?” She asked, looking knowingly at the tom. “Well, I hope they’re okay, whoever you’re thinking about.” Flurrypaw admitted, before he looked around and frowned. “Hey. Did you notice how odd the patrol seemed when they got back? I swear, I never saw Arcticbreeze come back with them.” He hummed.

After all, nobody but the two of them knew of Darktail’s predicament. Even so, Peachdapple’s eyes softened. “Oh dear. You underestimate how steady Darktail can be when he needs to be. It’s only fair that he knows his mate is not feeling well. So, let’s get you settled, and Blizzardstorm can go fetch Darktail if he can.” She looked at Blizzardstorm. “Would you go fetch him for me? That would be dear of you.” “Huh… maybe she went hunting since the patrol didn’t seem to bring too much prey back?” Flurrypaw fretted, seeming confused now.

I made the mistake of not doing it when I should have earlier. Peachdapple chuckled her gratitude to the younger tom, before she turned to prepare a good mix of herbs for Midnightstream. Her belly felt normal where the kits were, though her stomach was a bit bloated. Clearly, she had a stomachache, but Peachdapple felt a trill of frustration that she could scent Whitecough on her. “Sorry, Darktail. I’m okay. The kits, I mean. That’s fine, I think.” Midnightstream gave an apologetic slump, before she relished in her mate’s affections. “I think I might be catching something. You probably shouldn’t get too close, it might be Whitecough…” “Ivypaw was the one that went. He went with Nettlepatch.” Flurrypaw quickly responded, remembering the other apprentice seeming shaken when he had returned.

Darktail's ears went back as he took a breath to try and calm his nerves. "Does she seem to be catching something Peachdapple? Whitecough can't be good for her or the kits." He asked nervously, looking intently at his aunt.
"Darn! I think I saw Ivypaw curled up in his nest. We'll have to ask him when he wakes up!" Stumppaw mewed, tapping her tail impatiently.

Peachdapple returned to the two cats and placed down a few herbs. “I won’t lie to you. This absolutely is Whitecough. But, luckily, it seems like it’s a milder case. We actually prefer the Whitecough that gives stomach aches instead of only breathing issues. Her chest sounds clear, and while it seems odd to call stomach pains Whitecough, the illness can have different symptoms. That said, I’m going to give her Chervil and Watermint for the bellyache. Ginger as well, to clear up the airways in case a cough does form.” The medicine cat explained. Midnightstream quickly ate the herbs without complaint, looking at Darktail with assurance. “See? Peachdapple says it’s mild. Just stomach aches, I can get through that.” She promised. “Rats.” Flurrypaw sighed with a scowl, before he shook his head. “Maybe Lightningstar will tell us?”

"If something happened on the patrol he's gotta!" Stummpaw exclaimed, fur puffing out a bit in her excitement. "Ugh I'm not good at waiting."

"I feel like all I do these days is rest." Midnightstream sighed, though she did not resist her mate's gentle nudges to do just that. She rolled on her side so she was more comfortable with her belly, eyeing it softly as though the kits were already out. She murmured. "The... kits will be okay, right?" "Right." Peachdapple nodded calmly. "I've had countless patients in my life, many Queens just like you, who have the exact same symptoms the exact same time of the moon-cycles. Leaffall Whitecough is common, and it's not nearly as dangerous as Greencough. But, since you already have it, it can't be given to you again. As in, it can't get stronger just because you're near cats who have a more severe version." She glanced at where Drizzlepaw had finally lifted her head, awake for the first time today. She was still looking rough, though it was clear she was over the worst of it. Peachdapple looked gently at her, mewing. "I need to see to her now. But you will be just fine, dear. Do as Darktail says, and rest." "Yes, Peachdapple." Midnightstream mewed obediently, grateful to have such a sure and kind cat watching over them. She waited until she left, before she purred at Darktail. "You've got the coolest family ever. They're all so brave, and huge! How does a cat get that big?" She asked playfully, always surprised at how much muscle Peachdapple had under her soft coat. "Me neither. I kind of want to snoop around and get the answers ourselves." Flurrypaw mewed, leaning close to whisper to Stumppaw with a wicked grin. "Think we'll get caught? I bet we can do it without even being noticed."

Darktail laughed, "It must be from my dad's parents, I guess. Shadowblossom always looked small next to Yarrowcloud, even though she's pretty average-sized for a Thunderclan warrior. It's a shame he didn't pass it on to me, but who knows, maybe one of our kits will be huge like them!"
Stumppaw inched closer to Flurrypaw, eyes wide. "Snoop where exactly? The warriors den?"

A huge furball would be so fun to brag about that they came from us." She covered her muzzle with her paw daintily to laugh, before she grumbled with discomfort at her stomach ache. "This really stinks." "Warrior's den, leader's den, maybe both!" Flurrypaw whispered. "Nettlepatch and Ravenshade were on the patrol too. And they went right into Lightningstar's den, yeah?" He reminded with a playful flick of his tail, now determined to get the secret information everyone seemed to be waiting on.

Sunthroat followed after Lightningstar, his ear flicking when he noticed how stiff the leader’s movements looked. It appeared that he wasn’t the only one getting old and stiff after all. He sighed as he took a seat, waiting for Lightningstar to call for the clan meeting.
Leopardfrost nudged Ravenshade, a concerned look in her eyes, “Look, I’ll stay home this time, but I’m just as worried as you are. I don’t want you to get hurt either you know.” She mewed, turning her head when she spotted Lightningstar make his way over to the High Rock.

Lightningstar took a breath before calling. “Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join beneath high rock for a clan meeting!” He paused to wait for the clan to gather.
Ravenshade sighed and shook her head. “They’ll hurt you to hurt me.” She whispered. “I know you’re worried but I couldn’t live with myself if they hurt you.”

Frostmoon nodded silently as she followed her mate. Lightningstar didn't look happy at all. It made sense, seeing as Arcticbreeze was gone, and the Twolegplace patrols were now an absolute bust. She sat up straight, gazing intently at her leader.
Scarletpaw ignored the stinging in her shoulder from the injury she had sustained last night in the Dark Forest. It was hard to keep up the act that she was against Thunderclan, when in reality she was was getting as much information as she could for Ghostscreech. So far, she had heard talk of Yarrowcloud's spirit hiding somewhere in the Dark Forest. Sadly, no cat would tell her anything else before she was pulled off for training. She pushed the thought away, perking up quickly as she heard Lightningstar make a call. Surely it was time!
Dawnpaw pushed out of the apprentice's den with a long stretch, looking up warmly towards Lightningstar as he settled himself close to Flamestrike and Vixenrose.
Peachdapple finished giving Drizzlepaw her herbs before she stepped out of her den to look up.
The rest of my cats gathered.
