Writing inspiration for me would be: Erin Hunter, Cassandra Clare, and Rick Riordan, off the top of my head.

I might have missed this question already asked in the thread, but who would you say are your biggest inspirations as a writer? Agatha Christie, Daphne du Maurier, Peter S. Beagle, Tolstoy, Tolkien, Stoker, Mary Shelley, Jane Austen, and the Brontë sisters if we're talking classics. Technically Shakespeare as well. Marissa Meyer, Laura E. Weymouth, Pierce Brown, Rosamund Hodge, TJ Klune, Timur Vermas, Ken Liu, R.F. Kuang, and Mo Xiang Tong Xiu to name a few more contemporary ones, Garrett Robinson for indie. Admittedly, I also take inspiration from certain writers on what not to do. For example, Amanda McKittrick Ros and her really purple prose, to the point where the Inklings even made a game out of reading Irene Iddesleigh to see who could go the longest without laughing (also, she was apparently just vindictive in general, if her writing a twenty page statement at the start of one of her other novels addressing one of her critics and literally creating a self-insert that's talked about for two whole pages is any indication). |

I feel like I rarely associate music with specific scenes or even individual characters, and I don't really listen to music while writing. But I do have lists of music associated with various projects though, mostly songs I think fit particular relationships or themes in the story? Kinda like. Music I'd pick if the book had an ending/opening theme or like trailer music? I also listen to a lot of different kinds of music so my project playlists are always kind of an incohesive mess lol
I didn't do nano but I did get myself to actually write again, which is progress for me. Have a few new chapters for the current wip c:
Personal influences are odd bc while I can name a lot of authors/writers I admire and love reading that doesn't necessarily mean I want to write like them? But I guess some writers who have inspired me in some capacity in my writing are Jonathan Stroud, Patrick McHale, Peter Beagle, Greg Farshtey and Christian Faber, Laini Taylor, Lucy Maud Montgomery, Cornelia Funke, Jeanne DuPrau, Stanislaw Lem, and Jeff VanderMeer.
Ironically I don't really count Tolkien as an influence, never been a huge fan of his subset of fantasy tbh

^Same, as far as personal influences go. There are many authors I like but none in particular have influenced the way I write or been a source of inspiration.
I have a weird relationship with Tolkien. I admire the man for his skills, talent, and messages, but I personally do not care for his writing style and thus don't particularly enjoy reading his books. Kinda the way I feel about Shakespeare lol.

I use to love it (and I still love it) and only write from the POV of an animal, but now for the most part I do human POV.

This may be just me, but does anyone else think writing from an animal perspective is just so much funner then writing form a human perspective? Idk I just really love animal point of views. I think in a lot of ways its easier. if only because you are allowed to bring characters down to a few core elements instead of having a complex society. Which isn't a bad thing at all, it just allows you to choose what comments you want to make by creating a exaggerated and simplified narrative. |

This may be just me, but does anyone else think writing from an animal perspective is just so much funner then writing form a human perspective? Idk I just really love animal point of views. I've tried it a few years ago and I agree, it's really is fun! I've actually considered having one of my stories that I want to publish feature anthropomorphic animals before I decided to just have them be humans instead. |

that gives me war flashbacks to when I used to keep literally all my writing on a single flashdrive and then the flashdrive broke. i lost like 50k words of one project :|
I'm doing okay? I've written like all of 1000 words in the past couple weeks, and it was a murder scene so. idk what that's about.

Not Like Other Girls
Don't know if this is exactly a trope, but when severe injuries are glossed over or just blatantly ignored. It just grinds my gears

Favourite ship trope is henchman X villain and enemies to lovers, but I like any ship with a good build up.
