Foxtuft beamed with the news of her daughter, her ears perking up. "I'm glad to hear it, Grousestar! I'm very proud of her. I hope she grows up to be a fine medicine cat." She let out a small sigh, her eyes bright. "It seems you have something planned with her. I know it's none of my business, but whenever you can, can you send her my way? I don't think I've had much time to talk to her recently, and I feel a bit bad."

Grousestar;; (wildsongπ§, a diamond's pearl) Grousestar understood how much the duties of a warrior and a mother conflicted better than any other she-cat in the clan. With sympathetic eyes, she agreed to send Frogpaw over to Foxtuft. Almost immediately she headed over to the young cat and nudged her flank with a paw. "Your mother wants to see you."

(Sorry for the poof, I was helping cook and then eat dinner)
Rabbitwhisker nodded at Brightblaze. "Oh, hi," she said, her tone slightly aloof but not exactly rude either. It was the tone of someone being friendly but who wasn't interested in an actual friendship, if that was a tone. Rabbitblaze was that kind of she-cat; the kind who only like to socialize with powerful and popular cats, and she wasn't exactly sure if Brightblaze qualified. She spotted Sunstep roll his eyes at her catch and she preened inwardly at his reaction. Making other people jealous was always fun. "Hey Sunstep. So, how's your hunting been recently?" she called, her tone perfectly amiable. She knew how to manipulate people but not be outright mean, so as to make it harder for other cats to hate on her.

[ night - wow, so adult. I made myself a sandwich for dinner last night, so you're definitely winning XD ]
Brightblaze nosed through the remains of the fresh-kill pile, eventually selecting a small bird. She noted Rabbitwhisker's frosty tone and frowned slightly. The younger she-cat was... irksome, Brightblaze decided. Well, if she was going to be curt, Brightblaze had no reason to linger. Dipping her head in farewell, she carried her prey over to Sunstep. Typically, she did not get along with either hunter, but she would not give Rabbitwhisker the satisfaction of seeing her eat alone. 'Sunstep," she meowed cooly, settling down on a flat stone a few paces away from the warrior. "You can always ignore her taunting. I do."
[ today in ValleyClan - three cats with very stubborn personalities glare at one another from opposite sides of the fresh-kill pile XD ]

Scorpionheart;; (Nightsinger ) The calico she-cat laughed and continued on their path to the lake, noting how everything looked completely normal; maybe she was right about the prophecy being false. "It could be a compliment or an insult, depending on your opinion of Yelloweyes," Scorpionheart said over the wind racing around her ears. The previous deputy had been her mentor and it his death had affected her greatly. Ever since his passing her moods had been getting worse and worse and it wasn't unusual now for her to be cold to her betters.
"Then a compliment," she replied, a warm feeling in her chest. Doespot made a note to herself to think on the comment more in detail later, when the wind wasn't brushing against her face and whisking thoughts away. She wasn't sure what more to say, if there was anything, and especially not on the topic of the deceased deputy. A glance at the cat next to her revealed nothing about an impending breakdown or disparaging comment against those higher in the clan than Scorpionheart - but perhaps that had happened earlier, with talk of the prophecy. She allowed silence to fall over them again and accepted that was normal, not a sign they couldn't be friends at least. She slowed down as the glimmer of the lake came into view and a thrill ran through her. She loved this place. She scented the air for any signs of something unusual, but there was only the taste of water, flora, and fauna on her tongue. Her ears reported nothing amiss, but she still felt uneasy. Perhaps she was more worried than she had originally thought. "Scent anything?" she asked her companion, still glancing around. [ no worries! Take your time c: ]
"I smell it too!" Cedarpaw gasped excitedly. Once night paw was in position, he dropped into a clumsy crouch and slowly circled around, excitement building as the scent grew stronger. Was that the mouse, under that twitching leaf? Slowly, the young tom edged forward. He'd only get one chance - he'd have to time his leap perfectly in order to scare the creature into running in the direction he wanted it to go. Double-checking Nightpaw was ready, he tensed his muscles. Here goes nothing...
Cedarpaw leapt, paws slamming down onto the hard-packed ground, either side of the trembling leaf. Yes! His heart soared as the mouse took off, heading straight for Nighpaw. Come on, Nightpaw, you can do it! Nightpaw watched Cedarpaw carefully. He didn't want to miss his cue! His clanmate did his job wonderfully and the mouse raced towards his waiting paws. He pounced and managed to pin the creature and killed it with a bite to the neck. Were they marvelous examples of hunting? No. Was it a clean catch? Kind of. Did it matter - no! Nightpaw lifted his head in victory with the mouse dangling from his jaws. They did it! No mentors either, and all on their own initiative. He waved his tail in excitement. Rosefall would have freshkill first thing in the morning all because of them. "You were wonderful Cedarpaw!" he cheered past the freshkill. "We should take this back right away."

Rabbitwhisker shrugged as the other she-cat walked away. Sure, she enjoyed it when other cats like her but she really didn't care that much about Brightblaze's opinion. Or Sunstep's for that matter. She sat down to eat her mouse, but her ears pricked up as she heard Brightblaze say something about her. Her eyes narrowed at the insult, but she immediately rearranged her face into a somewhat innocent look and padded over. "Taunting? I didn't mean it that way, but I'm sorry if that's how you took it," she meowed, tilting her head.

"Just very stale fox, nothing to worry about," she meowed comfortingly. "Let's take a while to rest." The lake was one of her favorite parts of the territory, falling just behind the Dead Forest, and all Scorpionheart could think about while she walked up to the shore was how much she wished their camp was closer to the lake.

The lake was one of her favorite parts of the territory, falling just behind the Dead Forest, and all Scorpionheart could think about while she walked up to the shore was how much she wished their camp was closer to the lake. Doespot's head dipped in an abrupt nod. She felt kittish for needing reassurance - what, was she 6 moons again, out in the territory for the first time? It was just talk of the prophecy, she told herself, so there was no reason to fuss. She followed Scorpionheart towards the lake shore, still keeping all her senses alert for anything out of the ordinary. It wasn't too quiet or too loud, which comforted her, but still. She bid for time by lapping at the water. Running long distance required a body's upkeep after all. "I can't remember if there's fish here or not," she meowed apropos of nothing. She stared out at the water. Was there even a way to reach said maybe-existing fish? There were some logs out there, but Doespot didn't trust her swimming skills enough in case she fell in.

> Cedarpaw;; Lashing his tail in triumph, Cedarpaw bounded over to Nightpaw. "Thanks! You did great as well - awesome catch!" He didn't believe for a moment that either of them were fantastic hunters, but together they made a pretty good team, and queens would certainly appreciate the fresh-kill. The brown apprentice couldn't help but grin; now, he had a story of his own to tell Frogpaw and his mother, and perhaps he might even impress his father... "Let's take it back to camp. I bet our mentors will be impressed!"
> Brightblaze;; The black warrior flicked her tail, trying to ascertain the motive behind the other she-cats approach. Perhaps she really is trying to be friendly... I really shouldn't be so quick to snap... "I'm sorry if I offended you." she meowed cautiously, unable to recall the last time she had apologised for arguing. Still unsure what the hunter could gin from wandering over, she bent down to eat, swallowing mouthfuls with great relish. "That was a truly remarkable catch," she offered lamely.
[ oh, Brightblaze, you are so awkward XD
