Sandstripe nodded. “I can’t help but feel the same way, Rowantooth. He’s not neglectful by nature, but since the Queen and his son passed away, he . . . hasn’t been recovering. I have asked him to step down peacefully and let his brother continue in his place, but . . . neither of them want that.”

She flicked her tail. “But how do the rest of you feel about it?” she asked.

- - Skysong

“Sometimes their silence speaks more powerfully than their words, Owl,” Skysong said, once again with a strong air of self-importance. She glanced over her shoulder as Pinestep came to join them.

“Owl feels the same way,” she said. “I was just saying how important exercise can be, even for cats like us.”

- - Thunderheart

Thunerheart padded into the Royal Tower. “Hello?” he called. “Stoneheart? . . . Dewfern?” He came to the top of the staircase and saw the small gathering. He scrunched up his face.

“What’s going on in here?” he asked.

Rowantooth blinked in surprise. He had expected Sandstripe to give him a stern lecture about his behavior. Rowantooth waited for the others to say something.

Owl gave a curt nod heeding the older she-cat wise words. He returned the warm smile back to Pinestep before directing his gaze back to Skysong.Idly rocking back and forth on his paws Owl replied,"Well, it doesn't matter where we go as along as I as I can feel the sun down my back I'll be satisfied."

(Soooooooo, artemis and I were talking, and at first we just thought we should add a rogue section, but then I suggested an evil exile cat who wanted to overthrow the king and take the thrown. Then artemis suggested an entire BAND of rogues following him and supporting his cause (for whatever reason). Would you guys be interested in that?)

- Pinestep -

"Meadow sounds nice," Pinestep said, sort of perplexed at Skysong's dreamy state and willingness to die or get hurt at any moment. He followed her paw steps out the door, stretching out his legs. "So, how's Owl's training going?" He asked casually, glancing at the young tom as he spoke. It would be nice to start a conversation, and it didn't seem like Skysong had too many of those.

Duskstorm sat up, making it clear he was awake, and turned to look at the group of cats. 'That if this is going to happen, we do nothing until we have found the cat or kit we want on the throne.' He said, looking agitated. 'You can't just outrightly rebel without a base to stand on.' He began to groom his paw. 'You'll all be cut down.'

- - Tawnyclaw

As Rosebriar padded past, Tawnyclaw opened one of her yellow eyes to spot the she-cat. She stood up, stretched with a long yawn, and hopped off the old couch. Her sides still ached, but she felt like the wounds were beginning to stitch themselves back together. "Hello again Rosebriar," she mewed, padding toward the hunter.

"Yeah, it was uh..," she trailed off, not wanting to show any weakness. "So... what are you doing?" Tawnyclaw sat down began to lock her paw casually. She wouldn't let anyone she that she was having slight difficulty walking. She wasn't even one of the cats that got seriously hurt, so why even mention it?

(The rogue idea sounds pretty cool but I like the idea better if they teamed up with the disloyal cats . . . at least to start. Because a random group of rogues tacked on to everyone else might be confusing, you know, if they just show up out of nowhere.)

'My training mostly consists of fighting.' She explained. 'And reflexes. I need to be ready for anything, so I've got to be sharp.' She yawned. 'Why don't we see if we can find some mice to pounce on?' She said. 'That way you could practice hunting too.'
