THUNDERFANG // (Silvernight): Silently, he listened and nodded to what she said. She was right. He may not have seen the blizzard coming. And he was learning. You always learn throughout your life, even as an elder, you still learn. Thunderfang knew that. But his "learning" left him with only a mere two lives left and it left the clan with no medicine cat. Instead of complaining farther, Thunderfang twitched his ears in annoyance with himself. "I'm sorry, Silvernight. I didn't mean to just... Blurt out my opinion like that. You said that you needed to talk, and AI completely just... I didn't filter myself as I should have." He felt his face burn with embarrassment. He knew she would probably forgive him, but he still felt nervous and ashamed for his actions. The last thing he wanted was to chase her away with his extreme views and sudden brashness. It was very out of character for him, and if Cloudripple had witnessed such an act, she would have pointed it out to him right away. Slyly turning his gaze back to the she-cat, he examined her expression, taking everything about her into account. He realized he had never really looked at her before, like really looked at her. The way he saw her now, everything seemed foreign and undiscovered by his eyes. He had never really spend time with anyone but his sisters, and he could point out many things about them. This was different, because it was a whole other cat. With another flick of his ears, and even his tail, he noticed he was lost in thought and may have been staring at her too much or too hard, and he looked away, trying to hide his embarrassment. Today just didn't seem like his day in terms of getting a grip on his own thoughts.
HAWKPAW // (Highstone): "I understand, Highstone," the apprentice sat down, thinking for a moment. "Why exactly did Rabbitstar send Fennelfur in the first place? And what is going to happen to Tumblepaw? Is everything going to be alright? And the kits..." Realizing she may have been asking too many questions, she stopped and looked her mentor in the eyes with a look of slight embarrassment and worry.

--Silvernight felt her fur settle back down when the argument she was expecting didn't arise. The topic was a very touchy one, and she was sure the Clan would have more than a few problems trying to survive the season without tearing each others' fur off. "It's okay," she mewed blandly, the words seeming small in comparison to everything they'd shared previously. She paused for a heartbeat or two before continuing, "I probably meant you talk anyway. I don't like sharing." Silvernight recognized her words sounded like a moody apprentice's, but it was true. She had threatened to replace his bed with brambles if he so much as mentioned she was bothered by the gathering, when others would be more worried if she wasn't. Still, she didn't like the image she was creating for herself, so she jokingly, but awkwardly, added, "At least you weren't wrong." Silvernight noticed he was staring slightly, but she figured he was amused by her slight babbling and possible immaturity - or maybe he was genuinely interested in what she had to say. Social cues were one of her worst areas, so she was almost more confused by his actions than her thoughts on any of the tough words they'd shared.

THUNDERFANG // (Silvernight): Laughing at what she said a little awkwardly, he looked back at her, starting to visibly relax. "I suppose you're right, then. I'm the type of person to worry too much and overthink things, so I never know of my thoughts are justified or if I really am just overanalyzing." After a few seconds, he added, "I'm also glad I finally got to hear someone else opinion on all of this. I feel so bad for Tumblepaw, though; that poor kid has so much ahead of him..." His thoughts just kept pondering, what if that had been Hawkpaw? What if his own sister was faced with the sudden immense responsibility of apprenticing to be a medicine cat without a medicine cat to teach her? He couldn't help but just know how useless he would feel, not being able to help her out and have nothing to offer but encouragement. He was glad that Hawkpaw had wanted to become a warrior since she was a kit, because at least then he could help her out if she needed it.

Hightstone shifted his body weight from paw to paw whilst he pondered her questions. "I don't know why he sent Fennelfur, my best guess would be that he was hoping for a message from starclan. Tumblepaw will have a rough road ahead of him. He at least has Dawnflame and access to starclan to help him figure it all out, but he will need the support of us all if he is to become successful." He paused there, unsure about how honest he should be about how hard this leaf-bare would be. He glanced at the she-cats face and worry. He did not want to scare her more, but he did not believe in half-truths, no matter the reason. "This season is going to be difficult. Every leaf-bare is. We will lose cats I have no doubt, and kits are at their most vulnerable. However, Tumblepaw will do the best he can, and I should think that queens having kits happens often enough that he probably has a good idea of what herbs to give her. None the less, this season will be worst than most."

HAWKPAW // (Highstone): Nodding, the apprentice took in everything her mentor told her. She didn't want to blame Rabbitstar, but... She felt like this could have been avoided somehow. She didn't want to say that to Highstone, so she didn't. "I was listening to what some of the other cats were saying," she went on. "A lot of them were confused and even angry with having Tumblepaw's ceremony, and then two warrior ceremonies after announcing Fennelfur's death. Why did he do that?" She pondered the reasons, and the one that stuck out was that Rabbitstar wanted something good to come of the meeting. But Hawkpaw kept thinking about how horrible and awkward she would have felt if that were her warrior ceremony. Wondering about that next, she also added in, "Do you think I'll become a warrior soon? I want to be able to help the clan in any way that I can, especially if this Leaf-Bare is supposed to be so tough."

Highstone "I can't answer to many of the things that Rabbitstar was thinking, so this is all speculation, but I'm sure he thought it best for things to end well, and delaying Tumblepaws apprenticeship would have been a disaster. As to your warriorship, well, you're doing well, but you still have some age and skill to gain. Which we should work on."He felt like he was doing an awful job of giving her appropriate answers, and he was much to biased, but he had wanted to share his thoughts and feelings with someone, and she had approached him on the subject.

HAWKPAW // (Highstone): The apprentice understood what Highstone was saying, and kept Nodding in response. If she were to be the best warrior she could be with a bit more training, then she'd wait. She wasn't exactly in the rush that most apprentices seemed to be, even if it may have seemed like it with her asking."That all makes sense. Thanks for taking the time to clarify a bunch of stuff. I really appreciate it," she said, standing up and on her paws. "Should we do something else now? I can't really think of what needs to be done except hunt, and we already have a group doing that," she said thoughtfully, taking a look around.

Tripping over Daisyfoot went forgotten to Dancingwillow as well. The airy she-cat sat next to her, humming to herself during the entire duration of the meeting. The green-soul found it very hard to concentrate during clan ceremonies. They were fun and cute, but when Dancingwillow wasn't doing something in them, her mind easily wandered. Her humming ceased once she realized that the meeting had ended. She leapt up to her feet with light-hearted grace when she saw the other she-cat's look of concern. With a tilt of her brownish-peach head, and her mouth making a pursed 'o', she asked, "What's wrong, grumpy friend?"
-------------
Hearing Dancingwillow's voice snapped Daisyfoot out of her thoughts and brought her back to the present which she, truthly, didn't want to be in. "It's shocking, isn't it?" she meowed, amber orange eyes dimming as she spoke. "Fennelfur's death.. I know he was old, but we hardly have a true medicine cat now." Sighing shakily, the white and ginger tabby shook out her coat. "I don't mean to pain you with my thoughts. I'm sorry, Dancingwillow."

Highstone grinned. "Well I'm glad your appreciative. That's a wonderful thing to be. We could hunt, but as you said there are many cats already out. What aspect of your training do you think could use the most improvement? He always liked to know what his apprentices thought of their skill level and where they found themselves weakest. It made his job easier, and self-assessment was a necessary skill for all.

[[ I feel your frustration on that one, Moonwing. I've had it happen to me once. Ever since then I've been copying everything before I post it, just in case. I lost a lot of writing the time it happened, and I don't want to be left to retype the entire thing like I did before. ]]
HAWKPAW // (Highstone): Hawkpaw didn't really expect her mentor to turn around and ask her where she needed improvement. She thought about it for a second, visibly bewildered by his question. Her hunting stances and battle moves were okay, she thought... Every aspect seemed okay, until she thought about her soul. She had only discovered her soul power a few moons ago, and had been a bit afraid to use them. She wouldn't admit that, but she realized that it could be one of the only things stopping her from being at the level she needs to be at to become a warrior. She knew that Highstone had a Blue Soul, or so she was told, so he may not have the connection or advice Hawkpaw might need and would be able to obtain from another Pink Soul like her. If fact, she wasnt sure if anyone else in the clan had a Pink Soul. She just hadn't asked. Bringing her thoughts back, she said, "Well, we haven't worked on my soul power very much. Influencing the weather could prove helpful in a season like this." After saying that, Hawkpaw begun to feel a bit ashamed of herself for not practicing it sooner. She had a mental image of her holding back the heavy clouds that summoned the blizzard that Fennelfur may have died from, then quickly shook her head to clear it of those thoughts. Nothing would come from doing that, and no single cat could pull of a feat such as that, no matter how great the soul. Focusing on the lives she could have influenced and saved was not as important as the lives that she may save in the future, even by just moving a single cloud, which was all she expected to be able to do. Snapping herself out of it once more, she looked at Highstone with a small determination in her eyes.

... ↪ • Aquashine | Hunting party {{ w/ Firewhisker, Cloudripple, Braveleaf Half of her was thankful that the attention on her was broken, but then the other part of Aquashine was really appreciating the interest the other warriors had in her own style of hunting, though she wouldn't be demonstrating that now. With her spear long behind her, the white-and-ginger she-cat sprang ahead on her lithe legs in chase for the rabbit alongside Firewhisker and Cloudripple. The pursuit was a hard one, but even though the scrawny rabbits were running for their lives, their lack of nourishment gave the cats an advantage in the run.
--
• Briarwind | Medicine Cat's Den {{ w/ Stonewhisker As much as Stonewhisker's perkiness was bothering her, Briarwind actually enjoyed his uppity pace and little speech to bring up her spirits, so she grew concerned when his act slumped yet no expression or care showed on her face. Offering to find catmint for me when you're out and about is...a nice gesture. I'm sure that's what would get me out of here," Briarwind meowed with as much an appreciative tone as she could muster. Stonewhisker really was a good soulmate to her, and it was actually something she enjoyed most about her life, but he hardly got a soft side of her attitude. Nobody ever did. However, this time she broke into a small grin to give him, but it faltered when she coughed.

Highstone thought about that for a moment. He was not exactly well versed in other soul powers, in fact he rarely used his own, but was glad that she had taken her time to think of something she really did believe she needed to work on. "Soul powers can be difficult to master, and I myself could use some work in that area. Maybe we can see if we can work with Dawnflame on that one in a little bit to enhance that portion of training Hmm? What have you done with soul work?"[/b][/sub]

CLOUDRIPPLE // (Braveleaf, Aquashine, Firewhisker): Seeing Aquashine dash out made Cloudripple take another look. She could see some rabbits in the distance, since they had no coverage from undergrowth in such a dead season. She picked one and immediately sprang forward, taking her long, powerful strides, which helped keep her out of the snow. She was alongside Aquashine, never really falling behind due to sharp reflexes. She pulled away from the other warrior as her rabbit veered left, and she silently wished her luck on her catch. It's not that she doubted the she-cat, because that wasnt the case at all. She just knew that one rabbit could mean life or death for a clanmate. That being said, she stayed focused on her own rabbit, bounding for it though the snow. She was so close now, she could almost taste the thing.
HAWKPAW // (Highstone): The apprentice was a little embarrassed when he asked, though he seemed to read her mind about her worries with their differing souls. She would definitely feel confident with Dawnflame teaching her. Not that she didn't appreciate Highstone's teachings. "Um... Well, admittedly, nothing, really. One or two little things, I guess." After taking another breath, she said, "I don't know how heavily they influence me becoming a warrior, so before, I just stuck to practicing more of the hunting and such." Now, Hawkpaw wasn't lying; she really did want to practice the more practical aspects of being a warrior before focusing on her soul. She just didn't tell him that she was a little afraid. The apprentice saw that as reasonable. He didn't exactly have to know.

"Alright." He said gently. "I know things can be overwhelming. There is so much to learn, and while I can teach you basics of soul work, I don't trust myself to teach you most of it." He smiled reassuringly. "I hope you're not too disappointed in me, crush me you would! He was trying to lighten things up but there did seem to be more to the problem than she was willing to tell. He would let it go for the moment. "Tell you what. You give me something else you need improvement on at the moment, and I will arrange something with Dawnflame the next time I run into her."

HAWKPAW // (Highstone): Letting out a small laugh, she said, "No, of course I'm not disappointed in you. I'm glad you're not trying to take this on completely by yourself if you didn't think that you could." Hawkpaw always appreciated her mentor's honesty, though it made her sometimes think a lot when she was doing something wrong, she could appreciate the upfrontness he had. She wanted to adopt that trait, too. It takes a lot to speak the truth that nobody wants to hear. Still smiling, she started thinking about other things she could work on. "Well, hunting is always something that could use more work," she replied.

"Alright then, hunting it is. Now, remembering it is leaf-bare, and there has already been a patrol out this morning. What are your goals?" He hoped she would choose this moment to push herself, and not set something easy. Leaf-bare would make the hunting harder yes, but having goals, which are realistic, but not always reachable, would help bring her skill to the next level and teach herself to push her limits, while understanding where those were.

(Sorry, I've been working way too much the past two days. T.T)
For a long time, Rabbitstar's eyes lingered on his soul mate. He was kicking himself for multiple reasons now. Firstly, he was unfair to the loyal tom. He should have been his deputy. There was gnawing on his insides that he would be judged for favoritism but it couldn't be any worse for all the judgement upon him now. Secondly, the obvious. He sent Fennelfur out. Now they knew nothing and his clan might suffer this entire leaf-bare. Any deaths or hardships will have paws pointed at him. At least he had Ridgefall. And Braveleaf, and his daughter... Ah. So that was the mysterious third thing. Whitedeer. A pebble caught in his throat whenever he thought of her. She was not remarkable or sturdy or anything, very shy and meek, and he had turned his back on her after Windleap died. The pale gaze returned to the other tom. Should he ask advice on her to him now? He just didn't want to hear the obvious. 'Go and talk to her'. That was too hard. How would he break the ice after moons of silence between them? 'Whitedeer is not the failure... I am. At first, Rabbitstar thought his thoughts were echoing in his ears, but then the leader realized he had said those words out loud.
----------------------------------
Possumkit frowned deeply. He didn't want to be interrogated like this. But honestly the frown upon his face now was one of uncertainty. He did not actually know what he planned to do outside. He just wanted to be there, to let his mom rest. Why was that so hard? "I dunno, sit around, watch the camp or somethin."
----------------------------------
The sleepy eyes of Dancingwillow blinked at Daisyfoot's words. She was worried, not grumpy. The airy she-cat was not completely aware of the problem the clan had, nor the fault of Rabbitstar, but she understood death just fine. Her heart suddenly ached for Fennelfur and she momentarily looked at her paws. Then, quick as a tulip popping up in the morning, she was back to her normal, light self. "Cheer up, spring will always come after winter~"

Meadowlark nodded at the kit. "Alright then. Why don't you come out to the elders den with me? I know they could use some company, and that way you can be doing something useful, and helping your mother out? Maybe you can tell them a story or too, I'm sure you can come up with something they haven't heard."

The large kit visibly recoiled at the word 'elders'. Personally he loathed the idea of sitting around a stinky, rotting den with old cats that could probably barely hear him. In truth, he had never been there or around any elders before, he just knew what others had said about them (mainly complaining apprentices). His concerns went without speaking, however, and all Possumkit did was solemnly nod and begin forward.

--Firewhisker saw the rabbits slowly approaching, no doubt thanks to Braveleaf. While they were still a decent distance away, the two she-cats sprang into action, surprising him. He was quick to hurry after them, though, his paws digging deep into the powdery snow and packing it down as he powered forward. He saw Cloudripple veer away on one side of him, and was soon going in the same direction, and then suddenly in the opposite as his future prey did its best to shake him off. Firewhisker wasn't so easily lost, however, and was soon close enough that he could smell nothing but the prey and its fear.
--Silvernight tilted her head slightly as she listened to Thunderfang speak again, very slowly beginning to feel more at ease in the stranger's company. It felt good to forget about the Clan gathering for the time-being, though guilt still hung in her heart very slightly. She wasn't attached to the Clan by any stretch of the meaning, but she was attached to her son's and her own survival - which was more insured in the Clan than outside it. Shaking her head slightly, she managed to focus back on what Thunderfang was saying without missing much: "I don't know if you're over thinking. The leafbare will be very hard, which is plenty cause for worry. And Tumblepaw will be going through a lot - I very deeply hope that Dawnflame is knowledgeable enough to keep us all alive until StarClan or someone steps in." Her own thoughts veered to the only kit she'd brought with her to the Clan - what if he had been the one in Tumblepaw's position? "Of course," she thought, "They would never let an outsider be in such a position of power." She began to notice a bitter taste in her mouth, and unconsciously showed her discontent by flicking her ear.

Meadowlark led the kit to the elders den and ducked inside, looking around her. It had been a stressful day she new, but the young kit needed something to do that would keep him away from the cold, and this den was the closest you could get. "Here we are Possumkit. The elders den, settle down and tell a story.

Darkfang ☾: Stonewhisker purrs happily. He didn't need to see a soft side to Briarwind. He loved her just the way she was, and knew she cared about him. No matter how she acted, he would always care for her. She was his soul mate, after all, but seeing that smile, and knowing she was happy with the fact that he was more than willing to help her leave the hospital made him feel happy, even with the dark times looming. He strokes his tail along her spine affectionately, chuckling softly to himself. "I'll look after you until you get better," he meows, before standing. "I'll be back, Briarwind... Hopefully with some catmint."
