Frostflower sat outside the elders' den, sunning herself in the early morning light. The air was chilly, and without any denmates, so was her den, and so she took instead to warming her pelt in the watery sunlight.
Starlingflight padded out of the warriors den, dipping her head to her mother as she passed by her but saying nothing as she moved towards the fresh-kill pile, regarding its meager contents with a disappointed expression. All that was left from the day before was a tiny mouse and a stiff sparrow. Starlingflight wrinkled her nose before picking the sparrow and retreating to a patch of sunlight free of snow to eat. Frostflower watched her daughter with sad eyes, disappointed that she didn't come to keep her company but not surprised, nor one to bother her if she wasn't wanted.
Both she-cats looked up as the entrance to camp rustled and Crowpaw entered, carrying a few browning leaves in his jaws. He gave a curt nod to each as he padded through the camp to the medicine den and slipped inside, dropping the herbs on the ground and sorting them by type and freshness. It had been a rather disappointing find, but it was better than nothing in the depth of leafbare where medicine would be more important than ever.

(Hi, guys! Sweet, I will let you know! Let me look them both over real quick!)
Ravenstar was hiding in the shadows. The tom was ruffed up against the cold but didn't bother to move into the sun. His fluorescence was just slightly glowing in the shadows. He yawned and glanced around the camp. He grounded his teeth together. The tom was hungry but wouldn't eat till the rest of the clan did.
Brooktail padded out of the warriors' den. She turned to groom a part of her tail before looking back out around camp. She was looking to lead a hunting party. The clan could go for some more food. It would be hard but, maybe they find something.
Fieldgrass was still keeping watch on the camp. He was waiting to be relieved by the day guard. The tom felt frozen. His tail tip twitched, but he couldn't really feel it. He shivered and tired to bulk up his coat. He didn't have a thick coat to begin with so he knew winter was always hard on him.
Tinypaw stumbled out of the apprentices' den. She sneezed lightly but just rubbed her nose with her paw. The tiny she-cat glanced around before bounding over to Starlingflight. "Have the patrols been assigned yet?" She asked.

Starlingflight looked up as Tinypaw approached, letting out a soft purr of greeting. "No, not that I know of," she replied, finishing the last of the sparrow and pushing its bones aside. "I just got up though, so I could have just missed it."
She glanced over at the camp entrance as Nightfeather entered, carrying two tiny mice by the tails, both hardly enough to be considered a snack. He dropped them on the fresh-kill pile before retreating to the shadows, his black pelt blending with them so that only the faint glow of his purple florescence was visible.

(Ok!!) Stormpaw was still fast asleep in the apprentices den, the grey tom snoring softly in what seemed to be contentment. He hadn't gone to sleep till late the night before, he had been up practicing hunting at night. It was a ton of fun, but frustrating because of the fact that there wasn't any animals to hunt. They came back empty pawed. He rolled over onto his back, his back legs kicking his sister in the head.
Sweetpaw let out a squeak of surprise, scrambling out of her own nest when she felt a paw hit her. The calico shot her slumbering brother an annoyed glare before reaching over and swatting him in the head. The only response she got was a low grumble from the lump of fur she called her brother. She rolled her eyes, swallowing her own hiss of annoyance before shoving her brother a little bit harder. The tom opened an eye, looking at his sister and getting up slowly. "C'mon, everyone else is awake," she mewed before slipping out of the den.
Coldfire was settled outside of the Warriors den, waiting to be put on patrol. The white she cat was determined to continue her duties until the medicine cat forced her into the nursery. She shifted, stomach already swollen as she watched the cats mill around the camp, eyes falling onto her brother who was groggily grooming himself.

(I will be announcing mentors and apprentices soon.)
Ravenstar stood up. He heaved a sigh and decided it was time to organize patrols. He shook his fur, hoping to shake out the cold. He padded into the light and looked around camp. "Starlingflight! Take a patrol with Brooktail and Sweetpaw. Check the border near the High Boulders. Blizzardwing, if you are up for another hunt, take Tinypaw and Stormpaw with you. Coldfire, if you insist to keep doing warrior work, relieve Fieldgrass of his position. Fieldgrass, go rest."
Brooktail nodded. "Ok, Ravenstar." She said and padded over to Starlingflight. "Hello!"
Tinypaw went to say something but was interrupted by Ravenstar. She turned to smile brightly at Starlingflight before bounding over to Blizzardwing.
Fieldgrass let out a yawn. He nodded to Coldfire tiredly as he slipped into the den. He stumbled lightly before collapsing into his nest.

Starlingflight sat up quickly and dipped her head to Ravenstar, surprised that he would put her in charge of a patrol even though she was still very young. Then she turned and greeted Brooktail. "Hi! Where's Sweetpaw?" She glanced around the camp, looking for the apprentice, and spotted her as she emerged from the apprentices' den. Starlingflight quickly hopped to her paws and padded over, raising her tail to greet the young she-cat.

Brooktail flicked her tail towards the apprentices' den and followed the she-cat. Although she was older than Starlingflight, she had no issue with her leading the patrol. Brooktail wasn't usually bothered by that type of stuff.
Ravenstar sat back down and glanced up at the sky. He would need to choose a new deputy soon. Grief washed over him for a moment. His previous deputy, Moonsong, had suddenly disappeared from the territory. It was unsure what had happened to her. Although he had tired to wait to see if she would come back, she never did. Ravenstar sighed heavily and knew that he needed to choose.
(Brooktail is mentoring Sweetpaw Hawkfeather is mentoring Stormpaw Blizzardwing is mentoring Tinypaw Crowpaw has no mentor because we still have no medicine cat.)

(which is surprising, medicine cat is usually one of the first ranks to go. If no one claims it you can come up with a reason to promote Crowpaw. Like, the old medicine cat vanished along with Moonsong or something. And so when choosing the new deputy Ravenstar could go ahead and give Crowpaw his full rank as well. Of course, if someone joins and claims the medicine cat position, it won't be a problem.)
"Did you catch what Ravenstar said?" Starlingflight meowed to Tinypaw, glancing up at the leader, before returning her gaze to the apprentice. "If you're ready, let's go now. Maybe if we're lucky there will be some prey out."
(sorry for the short post, didn't have much to go on)

(I know. I'm going to give it a bit before doing something about it. And it's ok! We are kind of stuck waiting for others to join in/reply.)
Brooktail nodded. "Where should we go hunt? I don't think the fields would be good. It's too cold and too much snow."

Starlingflight nodded, agreeing. "Yeah, too much snow. I would say stick to where there's cover," she replied, flicking her tail. "Ravenstar did say to patrol near High Boulders, though, and I bet there's prey hiding in the cracks there. Otherwise, maybe we'll spot something on the way there or back. We'll just have to move quietly so we don't scare anything that might be around."

Blizzardwing let out a groggy purr as he heard his orders, flicking his ears in greeting towards Tinypaw. "Are you ready? Maybe we'll find some prey to catch, eh?" He mewed, the white warrior in a fairly good mood this morning. He was hoping that they would find something they could bring back to the clan, and it would give the little she cat some good training in the cold. He glanced at his sister momentarily, wishing that she would just drop the warriors duties already, not wanting her to strain herself despite how tough she thought she was. He returned his gaze towards his apprentice before adding, "Why don't you go and grab Stormpaw?" He suggested lightly.
Stormpaw let out a loud groan when he found out he was on a hunting patrol. The tom had fairly poor balance, making it difficult for him to hunt well. He was better at border patrols and fighting, where he actually had skills. He had just slipped out of the nice and warm den and into the cold where he found out he was on the worlds most boring duty in the apprentices opinion. Sweetpaw shot him a rather smug look before bouncing off to her mentor, chin high and fur fluffed out in excitement. "Hi Brooktail!" She mewed, voice high with excitement.
If looks could kill, Ravenstar would have lost a life. Coldfire glared at her leader, clearly aggravated at the duty and too annoyed to even respond to Fieldgrass. The pointed she cat let out a soft hiss, not moving quite yet. "Your just giving me an easy job." She accused with a glare, almost pointing out that Moonsong wouldn't have been easy on her. (Sorry! I had to go to an event and I had school)

(Oops! Forgot they were doing the patrol, not hunting! XD)
Brooktail nodded. "You're right. We should patrol first then see if we can hunt. Plus, if we are lucky, the heat from the rocks will bring out prey." She turned with a purr to spot Sweetpaw. "Hello, Sweetpaw! Are you ready?"
Tinypaw nodded and rushed back over to Stormpaw. "C'mon! Let's go, Stormpaw!" The tiny she-cat called out loudly before racing back over to Blizzardwing. "So were are we going?" She eagerly asked.
Ravenstar narrowed his eyes slightly. "You think that protecting the clan is a easy job? That it should be taken lightly?" In all honesty, Coldfire had been right. Ravenstar had been worried about sending the she-cat out. He couldn't risk having her get lost or something else happen to her. The clan needed kits.

"How often do day guards actually catch anything? Theres a reason why there are border patrols," She snapped back, not backing down. She was assigned day guard duty for the past two days, and it was aggravating. She knew that Ravenstar was trying to give her a hint that it was time for her to move into the nursery, and she knew he had a point. The clan did need kits, but she was still a couple moons away from her kitting and she intended on working until the medicine cat forced her, and she might even fight them then. The clan needed hunters even more than kits, more kits meant more mouths to feed.
"I'm more than ready! What if we find some rogues? Or two legs? Are we gonna fight them?" She asked, falling into a play crouch, clearly eager. She couldn't wait to get going, flashing an eager look at her mentor.
"How about you choose, Tinypaw? Where do you think that we should go?" he asked, watching as Stormpaw reluctantly follow Tinypaw. He wanted to quiz the she cat, wanting to know if she learned anything from his lessons. Stormpaw turned his gaze towards Tinypaw, wondering where she would choose for them to go.

(Morning! Sorry, everyone! I fell asleep. And I really hurt my thumb last night so typing is a little hard for me right now.)
Ravenstar sighed heavily. He knew there was no arguing with this she-cat. Coldfire was given her name for a reason. The she-cat was feisty. "Coldfire, I don't feel comfortable sending you out. When I appoint a new deputy this night, you can discuss this with them. But for now, my judgement stays. I will not send you out risking not only your life but your kits." He stood up. The tom towered slightly over the she-cat as he lashed his tail. "Take it up with the new deputy."
Brooktail purred. "Maybe but I highly doubt it. It's pretty cold out, and it had snowed last night. Twolegs seem to hate this weather. And most rogues move out of the area because it get too cold for them. But wolves are around. Hopefully, we don't stumble into one of them." She glanced over at Starlingflight and smiled. "I think we are ready when you are."
Tinypaw's eyes lit up. The she-cat grinned widely. "The forest! Especially near the Elder Pine because of the seeds." She said happily. Tinypaw had always liked hunting near the tree. It allowed her to feel tall for once when she climbed it.

Coldfire gritted her teeth but said no more, knowing that the mouse brained tom wouldn't budge on the subject. Instead she let out an annoyed huff and stalked towards the entrance, settling there and staring out with a glare. She was not in the mood for sitting around alll day doing nothing. Maybe she could sneak out tonight and do some hunting, show Ravenstar that she could still perform her duties.
Blizzardwing nodded in approval, getting up, towering over the two apprentices. "Alright, let's get going then. Remember if you see anything we can always stop and hunt that," he mewed as he made his way out of the camp, ignoring his glaring sister. It wasn't his fault Ravenstar stuck her in the camp. Speaking of Ravenstar, he heard that the new deputy was going to be chosen tonight and he had hopes that he would be chosen. He was young, yes, but that didn't mean anything. Ravenstar was young as well, and he felt as if he were up to the task.
Sweetpaw nodded, still excited. She wanted to get going and explore the territory. (That's ok!! Merk I hope that someone will create a kitty that could be Coldfires mate ^^ if not I might just say he disappeared)

Ravenstar sighed before turning and disappearing into his den. The tom had a lot to think about. There were many prominent cats that would be good deputies. But which ones would also be good leaders? He need to make sure he chose the right cat for the job.
Tinypaw darted after her mentor happily. She ignored Coldfire's glaring, knowing that the she-cat was mad about Ravenstar wanting to keep her inside for her kits sake. In all honesty, Tinypaw felt sorry. She was sure that if that had happened to her, she would be upset too.
(Lol! Don't worry! Some other people did join! I'm just waiting for them to correct/finish their forms. I hope they do!)

Starlingflight nodded. "Alright, let's get going then. We'll check the border quickly and then see if we can find anything at High Boulders." She turned and padded quickly towards the entrance to the camp, glancing over her shoulder to make sure the others were following. She paused for a moment outside, breathing in the cold, fresh breeze. The air sometimes got stuffy and weighed down in the camp with the scents of cats and prey and bedding, and while she didn't mind the familiar scents of home, the crisp smells of the forest refreshed and energized her, whatever the season. With a happy expression, she turned to the others.
"Let me know if you can't keep up," she meowed to Sweetpaw, then bounded off towards the border. She moved quickly, weaving around trees and through the brush, but was slow enough so as not to make too much noise or attract too much attention, and to let the young apprentice keep up. She intended to arc around High Boulders, walk along the border, and then circle back past the stones on their way back to camp.
(hey Wildfire, would you like a territory map? I could make one for you. I could do the camp as well.)

(I have actually made one already. However, someone else on the joining page wanted to make one, so I am waiting for that first. I am planning a camp map too.)
Brooktail bounded happily after Starlingflight. She made sure to keep an eye on Sweetpaw as she ran. The she-cat darted through the snow covered forest. They would need make sure that the border was kept well marked.

Brooktail chuckled lightly and dropped pace a bit to stay just ahead of Sweetpaw. "Spread your toes out a bit. It helps you run better in the snow. More grip." She told her apprentice. Brooktail dodged a large clump of dead bracken. She frowned lightly as she glanced around. There was movement from a few birds, but the forest was otherwise quiet. I was going to be a hard hunting day.

Starlingflight slowed down a bit as well when she glanced over her shoulder and realized the other two were dropping behind. She paused for a moment to let them catch up, lifting her head to scent the air as she did so. Not much smell of prey, but the new snow would muffle any scents buried beneath it. While that would make old things more difficult to track, the benefit would be that new scents wouldn't get muddied by the old.
Glancing at the trees around them, the black she-cat realized they were nearing the border. As the other two caught up with her, she broke into a run again before slowing and stopping again after a few more minutes.
"Alright, we can fan out a bit to get this done quicker. I'll head that way," she pointed west along the border, "and you two go that way." She flicked her tail the other way. "Turn around when you reach Winding Brook Fields and meet me at High Boulders. If you spot prey before I get there, go for it. If you find anything urgent and have to go straight back to camp, pass by High Boulders and leave a stick sticking upright out of a crack near the top so I know you had to go back to camp. I'll do the same if I find trouble. Does that sound like a plan?"
(also, does anyone have any open characters that could interact with Crowpaw? He's actually my main character and he's just idle right now lol. Like, if someone gets a thorn stuck in their paw or a bellyache or something they could go visit him)

(I will send Ravenstar to him. Maybe asking for advice on who he thinks might be a good deputy and if he has seen Moonsong in StarClan.)
Brooktail nodded but frowned. "It's a little dangerous to be broken up, especially with it being just us. I can understand splitting a larger patrol. But with the new snowfall, scents are covered. We could be stumbling by a fox or wolf and not know till last minute. We should fan out but stick close to each other. Mark the border and then hunt." She said. She was worried about Sweetpaw too. The she-cat was still a bit too small to be able to help in a fight.

Starlingflight nodded. "Yeah, I guess you're right. Do you think it would be better if we all just started at one end of the border and went together to the other?" she asked the older warrior, suddenly uncertain of herself. She realized she was quite young, and she had thought her idea was a good one, but what Brooktail said did make sense. While Starlingflight was confident in her ability to get away from a fox or other predator quickly and quietly, if Sweetpaw got into trouble Brooktail would probably have difficulty helping her alone.

"Yes, that works. Move from here to the edge of the field before coming back to check the High Boulders." She remarked with a smile. She guessed that Starlingflight was a little uncertain with herself. But she had no reason to be. The young warrior's ideas were good. They just didn't work well this time.
