Starlingflight nodded. "Alright. Let's hurry then. I'm hungry!" she added humorously, trotting off towards Winding Brook Field.

(Lol! You are fine, Di! Daryl, you still need to fix Heather and Snow's fluorescence. Heather's I can just change to bright blue. But I don't know what Snow's looks like.)
Brooktail chuckled and followed afterwards. She kept close to Sweetpaw and was eager to see how well she did on the patrol. The silver she-cat glanced around to make sure that everything was ok. She took a deep breath and smelled nothing.

(Hm well Wildfire said she'd have Ravenstar come to the medicine den, but I do have Frostflower and Nightfeather open as well.)
Once Crowpaw was finished sorting through the herbs, he sat back and glancing around the empty den. The mostly-bare branches were woven together tightly to keep out the snow and wind, but even so the den was chilly- since Crowpaw, it's only occupant, had been out, there had been no body heat to warm it. The tom let out a quiet sigh. The former medicine cat- Crowpaw's mentor- had disappeared along with the Clan deputy a while before, and Crowpaw was reluctant to fully replace him.
----------
Starlingflight headed out in front of the others again, head raised to the breeze to check for any suspicious scents as they neared the meadow. She paused at the edge of the trees, scanning the field for any sign of danger, but didn't see anything. A few trails of pawprints criss-crossed the snow, which was- as the she-cat had expected- a bit deeper and more uniform than under the cover of the trees. Most of the tracks looked quite small, likely from prey like birds or mice. Some were a bit bigger- probably rabbits- and on the other side of the meadow, Starlingflight could see what looked like much larger pawprints- likely from wolves- though they looked like they were covered in a dusting of snow, and only passed through the corner of the field, entering the territory briefly before leaving again.
"I think I see wolf tracks, but they look old," she meowed over her shoulder, figuring she should call attention to them just in case, even though they probably wouldn't be a problem. The wolves were likely long gone by now.

(XD Sorry, Daryl! I also have Fieldgrass open. But he's kind of asleep. He did the night guard. P.S. - Might be having a friend join as a medicine cat.)
Ravenstar padded over to the medicine cat's den. It looked less busy now that the eldest medicine cat had disappeared. It was just before Moonsong too. Ravenstar let out a shaky breath. It wasn't uncommon for cats to disappear but two so close together? He wondered what StarClan was trying to show them. He stuck his head in the den. "Oh! Crowpaw, are you available?" He asked quietly.
Brooktail took a soft sniff. "Yep. Looks like they were hear about a moon ago. Strange that no other patrol had reported this. Either way, they were probably following the elk." She said and flicked her tail to the hoof markings in the snow. She was glad. If the wolves had followed the cats' scent, their could have been more trouble.

(Okay Wildfire, sounds good! Crowpaw may keep his apprentice name for a while yet, then XD)
Crowpaw started as he heard a voice from the entrance of the den, whipping his head around to see the black tom. He relaxed as he realized it was Ravenstar.
"Yes, I just finished with these herbs," he meowed, flicking his tail-tip towards the newly-sorted leaves and berries. "What's the problem? Is someone hurt?" He quickly sniffed the air, but there was only the smell of herbs, moss, and snow- no blood.
----------
Starlingflight shrugged. "They are on the very edge of the trees, so if the shadows fall right and you're not paying too much attention, you could easily miss them," she meowed. She opened her mouth to draw in the scents of the area, and couldn't find more than the faintest trace of wolf or elk. "Plus, the scent is practically gone now, so even that wouldn't alert someone." She padded along the border, pausing to refresh scent markers here and there and to look for any sign of suspicious activity, though besides the large pawprints, she fortunately found nothing.

Ravenstar shook his head. "No. I was wondering if you have received a sign from StarClan at all. For a new deputy. Or do you know if Moonsong is still alive?" There was a bit of hope in the tom's voice. He and Moonsong had almost grown up together. The she-cat had been good at supporting his ideas. Her disappearance had devastated him. He hoped she wasn't dead. And would one day come back.
Brooktail wrinkled her nose at the thought of other not patrolling the border correctly but kept her jaw shut. She moved on a little bit ahead and marked the border also. She glanced around to spot on the other side of the field two deer. She picked her ears to make sure that no other predators were out after them. "Stay alert. There are two deer. I don't want to be caught around here if a wolf or two shows up to hunt them."

Starlingflight followed Brooktail's gaze, noticing too the pair of does. They looked peaceful, though perhaps a bit wary of the cats. "It doesn't look like they have any reason to be afraid. One of us should keep an eye on them until we get out of here though; if something decides to come after them, they'll probably notice before we do. Until then, let's just try to finish up this part of the border quickly and get out of their way."
----------
Crowpaw narrowed his eyes, thinking. "No, I haven't had a sign, or any contact with StarClan recently. The upside is, I haven't seen her. That's not a guarantee she's alive, but at least it's not a confirmation she's dead." He met Ravenstar's eyes and could see the pleading, and he felt a twinge of pity. He knew the feeling: he had been looking for the same answers ever his his mentor had vanished. "As for the new deputy.... again, there's been no sign. And I won't pretend that I'm old and wise enough to give very good advice, though I could give you my observations if that's what you want. But of course, take them as you would from any apprentice, or young warrior, and not as an elder or full medicine cat."
(if you would like for there to be a sign, I could have one occur either now in in a little bit. It could make good roleplay, especially if it turns out disastrous lol. Or if it turns out well.)

Brooktail nodded. She glanced over at the deer one more time before darting to the other side of the field where the territory ended. She quickly marked the border before checking the deer again and rushing over to Sweetpaw and Starlingflight. She shook a bit of snow off her fur and fluffed it up. "Brr! It's so cold!" she remarked.
Ravenstar flicked his tail and sat down. He sighed again. "Go ahead and tell me your observations. I think I know a few cats, but I'm still not too sure. This needs to be done though. It has been far too long. And thank you. Although I wish that Moonsong was dead in a way. It would at least mean she is not in the hands of twolegs."

Crowpaw nodded. "A part of me agrees with you. But she's smart and resilient; if she's alive and somewhere she doesn't want to be, she'll figure a way out of that situation." He paused, thinking over his Clanmates and trying to put his opinions of them into words- ideally, words that might actually help Ravenstar to make a decision.
"I would say the most obvious choice is probably Brooktail. She's young enough to be vigorous and have many moons ahead of her, but not so young as to be naive or too driven by impulse." He paused, thinking. "She usually knows how to guide cats into the right decisions, but she might not be authoritative enough to be a strong deputy from the get-go. Still, she might grow into the position." He shrugged. "A second choice would probably be Hawkfeather, but I don't know if he would be willing and able to make difficult decisions where lives are at stake if he became leader." Crowpaw paused again and let out a sigh. "Other than that, there's Fieldgrass, Blizzardwing, Nightfeather, and Starlingflight. Starlingflight is obviously far too young for the position. Nightfeather is too... bitter. Blizzardwing, I think, would revel too much in the authority it would give him. A cat has to learn humility before they can lead. And Fieldgrass, I think, is too passive. I think he would rather take orders than make decisions, especially for other cats."
Crowpaw shrugged again, meeting the leader's gaze. "No cat is perfect for the position, but then again, were you when you were chosen? It's less about picking a cat who could be leader now, and more about choosing one you can guide into becoming a good leader when the time does come. A cat who is still willing to learn, and who will try to better themselves for the sake of the Clan. A cat who is confident enough in their ability to give orders but not too arrogant to think they alone already have all the answers."
The apprentice stopped, twitching his whiskers. "But that's just my opinion. I'm no warrior, and I'm just an apprentice as it is, so I can't say if my view of things is accurate. Accept that which I say that sounds right to you, and disregard all else. Either way, I'll be keeping my eyes open for a sign until you make your decision."
(should I have an omen appear?)

(I have Fieldgrass open, Daryl. That is about it. Nah. I'm still not sure who to pick. XD)
Ravenstar closed his eyes. He listened to all of Crowpaw's suggestions before nodding. "Thank you. I just hope I can make the right one. You are fairly wise, Crowpaw. Don't let the fact that you are young stop you." The black tom placed a comforting tail over Crowpaw's back before padding out of the den. The dark tom glanced around camp. He sighed and padded into his den.

Crowpaw let out a grateful purr at the praise, watching as Ravenstar left the den. Then he turned back to his herbs, letting out another sigh. Their stock was meager, and it would be moons before things really started to grow again. He hoped that this leafbare there wouldn't be any drastic outbreaks of illness; he wasn't sure they had the medicine to deal with anything more than a couple coughs.

OOO, okay may be slow nvm I will post a starter. ] Hawkfeather was itching to go on a hunt or patrol, but mostly anything outside of camp. The tom went into the warrior's den and saw Fieldgrass napping away. the tom walked over to him quietly and poked his paw at Fieldgrass's shoulder. Hawkfeather laughed quietly.

Fieldgrass grumbled and opened an eye slowly before it drifted shut again. He mumbled something but just rolled away from Hawkfeather. The tom's nest was usually everywhere and today was no exception. Bits of moss and bracken clung to his pelt. He looked like part of the field.

Hawkfeather snickered like he was an apprentice pulling off a prank on an innocent cat. The tom mewed in a hushed voice," Wake up Fieldgrass."The tom once again was full of anxiety wanting to yowl to get up so they could hunt together.

Fieldgrass jerked away from Hawkfeather. "Holy StarClan! You scared me, you mouse-brain!" Fieldgrass gasped before getting up and shaking his fur. He yawned tiredly. "What's up? I was on guard all night. Did Ravenstar need me fore something?" He asked an glanced at the sky. It wasn't even sun-high yet.

Fieldgrass thought for a moment. "Maybe trinity streams would be good. If we are lucky, we can catch something going for the water. There isn't much but it is a shot." He said. He knew that it was a chance going there but with any luck, they could find something.

Coldfire stared at the medicine cats den, debating on whether she should speak to Crowpaw or not. If she got permission from the young medicine cat apprentice she might be able to return to real duties, not just sitting around the camp entrance all day. The she cat fluffed out her mane slightly, shifting her paws in the snow, wishing she could move so she could be warm again. That was another thing about guard duty, it was cold.
Sweetpaw watched as her mentor marked the border and let out a small mrrow of amusement at her comment on the chill. The cold never really bothered the young apprentice, her medium length coat keeping her fairly warm even during the coldest days she's seen.
Blizzardwing took the lead as they headed out, this time wanting to take the lead. He paused for only a few moments in attempts to catch any scent. No luck. He glanced back at the two, noting in amusement Stormpaws sulking. "You know sulking won't get you anywhere," he called back to the tom, who looked quite embarassed at the remark.

Fieldgrass padded out of the den. He yawned slightly and turned to Hawkfeather. "You lead?" He asked calmly. He glanced around and his tail began to twitch lightly.
Brooktail smiled at Sweetpaw. "I think we finished this half. Maybe we should head on back over to the high Boulders." She glanced over at the other side of the fields. The deer were gone. Some part of the silver tabby was wondering if something had scared them off. But she wasn't going to let it bother her.
Tinypaw sniffed. She could smell anything either. The forest was cold and empty. The tiny cat crept around the trees. She tried her hardest to spot something. Her ears twitched as she heard the flapping of the wings. Tinypaw glanced rapidly around.
