Stumblestep smiled slightly at hr apprentice, happy that she had such a bright cat to mentor. "Hey, hey! I told you, you just have to call me by my name! As flattered as I am, it makes me feel...old. Or like a leader...Or...like an old leader!" Her 'stern' tone had quickly turned into one of amusement as she purred. She lightly touched her muzzle to the tom's forehead in greeting before turning. "Oh? Battle practice today? I think I have a few things from the top of my mind I can teach you." She hummed, various thoughts rummaging through her mind. "Although, you're already quite skilled in that 'art'." She told him in a fond voice. Turning, she began to hobble onward once more, her little fluffy nub of a tail seeming to almost be...wagging? ....Yep, Stumblestep was definitely one in a kind. 'Hm...yes, let head to that clear grove in Echo's Forest...yes, yes, that'll do!'

(oml, it has actually been like six months since I last RPed felines, so forgive this, I am still rusty. Working on getting back into the right pattern!) Littlepaw swept her tail along the surface of the ground, her small paws neatly tucked below her as she crouched, watching the activity in the camp. Her mentor wasn't around, and that didn't particularly bother her, as he made her work. Despite the amount of work that she was expected to put in, Littlepaw rather wished that she was able to do something. She got bored too easily sometimes, and it made short work of her patience.
Gingerpaw's position on the earth mirrored his sister's, though he was on the far side of camp from her. His tail was curled around him comfortably, as well, instead of lashing back and forth as he waited for someone to tell him to do something. He didn't like to do things of his own volition, as it made him nervous with the idea that he might anger someone by doing it. He glanced back towards the medicine den with a small bit of interest, wondering if prehaps they needed more herbs, or if there was sorting to be done. He was still learning the differences between each plant, though, and didn't want to ruin the careful organization that his mentor had done, so he didn't make a move to check.
Acornfall was grooming in the corner of camp, licking briskly over his short fur so that it would stay flat and gleam instead of be stuck up in strange places and have a greasy layer over it. He flicked one ear silently, and his paws itched to get out of camp. Wait to be put on a patrol he reminded himself tiredly, continuing to groom, Patrols are the safest way to go about moving outside of camp.
Owlflight flicked her tail from side to side as she picked through the freshkill pile silently. Hmm... there was nothing that she particularly wanted. Maybe a hunting patrol would head out later, and she could get something from that! Yes, that sounded good... She turned and trotted away from the food, her ears pricked with interest as she glided towards the nearest shady spot to rest in until someone gave her directions.

BLOSSOMPAW Blossompaw's eyes widened slightly. Well...that was something new. She'd never seen an actual battlefield before, and was curious as to what it might look like. "Huh. That sounds...kinda interesting..." As much as she disliked to say it, it actually did sound a little intriguing, to say the least. Not that she was interested in fighting.
Ignoring the way the fleshy pads of her paws felt on the cold ground, she pressed on beside Silverstar. "Are we gonna learn, like, harder moves then before?" She questioned the leader, ears pricked forwards.
SORRELPAW Sorrelpaw blinked, ears flattening slightly. "Ah, m-my apologies! Yes, of course, St-Stumblestep! " He stammered out. Sorrelpaw had a way for speaking with an over-polite...classy manner, as one might call it; was like a second nature to him; maybe he got it from Maplefrost? Yeah, he thought so. He'd have to get used to more causal talk soon!
At her compliment of his skill, he smiled sheepishly as a 'thank you', trailing after her with a little trot in his gait. "I wonder what's in store today..." He meowed to himself. striped tail raised high. ( Is there anyone I could roleplay with Maplefrost and Flintfang? )

❈ -- Swiftstar didn't respond for awhile. She was pretty sure that the apprentice was certain to dislike where they were going to train. "I certainly will be harder to practice in where we will be, but I won't be teaching you anything." You might even get slightly injured. But as long as you don't break a leg, everything should be fine. Finally, they had reached where Swiftstar had planned them to meet. It was a mess. Ferns, bushes, twigs, and leaves were scattered everywhere. Trees were all around, and there was barely any space. Branches were low-lying, and if any cat wasn't careful, it could whack them in the forehead. "So, this is where we will be training." And I know what you'll say.
As Hailsong entered camp, he dropped his prey at the pile, or he should say, the single shrew that was left there. Hmm... well obviously no patrols went out. He looked around camp, most cats busy, while other were chatting. A few were gone, but everything looked fine.
(Well, they could just enter camp. I suppose after four posts, they should reach it cx )

"Will do," Silverstreak replied unable to wipe the stupid grin off her face. Shuffling her paws around, the silver she-cat dropped her eyes to the floor. "So," she started, her voice unusually shrill. "It seems like this leaf-bare could be a bad one." Though the warrior was just guessing, it felt good to change the subject off her previous failure and her incapability that was causing the delay. (Re-posting this because I'm not sure if you saw it xxfantasy )

Stumblestep smiled slightly, unable to keep a purr of amusement from entering her throat. Her apprentice was just so...adorable! She wasn't sure if he'd see that as a compliment or not, but it was the truth! Hopefully he didn't turn out to be a stick in the mud like Sharpthistle or Flintfang - in which she noted later to go and have one of her 'prized talks' with the other tom later. Really, they both needed to loosen up some and just...enjoy life, or rather, 'enjoy having all of your legs' as she so fondly put it. Either way, the two cats walked along in silence, with Stumblestep seeming to be deep in thought. She twitched an ear at her apprentice's soft mutter to himself, but, didn't respond, only smiling. Soon enough, they came to one of the places they typically trained at - the grove like area within the forest. "Alrightie then. So today, I'll be teaching you three things. An offensive move. A defensive move. And then a counterattack move. They're rather simple, but still, it might be a lot to absorb for one day. Do you think you can handle it?"

❈ -- (Oh, missed it cx )
Thistlebreeze tilted his head. "I suppose... it is a bit chillier than usually... more foggy, but what makes you say that?" Now, when did we start talking about leaf-bare? I thought it was about your leg. Maybe she doesn't like talking about it... makes sense. Doesn't want to seem weak. Silverstreak seemed much happier, which comforted the tom. So she didn't hate him... at least. That was a good sign.

BLOSSOMPAW She reeled back with a cringe, looking as if she were looking at a puddle of dirty mud. "Ugh! This is the place?!" She hissed, tone disgusted and surprised at the same time. She looked down; twigs were even scattered at her mottled forepaws.
She smacked her teeth. "This doesn't look like a...a comfortable place to fight," she commented, eyes now focused on nothing. Her voice trailed off, becoming quieter by the second. The sight of all the fallen trees, all the branches...it nearly made her shiver. Especially with remembering the death of her younger sister, Violetpaw, which, had to do with trees... Why does that incident always have to pop into my head?
Blinking rapidly, Blossompaw shook her head, focusing her wandering attention back to Silverstar. She hoped she didn't look too...nervous. "U-Uh...I mean, with all the prickliness and limited space."
Clearing her gullet, she padded forward slightly, eyes focused on the sky. "So, you're...not teaching me today? Then what am I gonna doing?"
SORRELPAW Sorrelpaw nodded, a paw on his chin. "Mm...yeah, I believe so," came his reply. An offensive move, a defensive move, and a counterattack. That didn't sound too difficult.
Although Sorrelpaw was one of the smaller apprentices, muscles slowly developing with his young age, he was still capable of speed - possibly a tiny bit of strength - thanks to his miniature form. "Ready!"

"Alright! So first, lets do offensive. This is perfect for quicker cats like you. It's something similar to a fake out - but if you manage to get it right and use it on the right cat, it can give you the upper paw in the fight almost immediately." Stumblestep said with a nod. "What you do is you charge at them as fast as you can, and you suddenly lash a paw at them so they can prepare to counterattack or go on the defensive. However, at the same time, veer a bit to the side and actually strike your blow! It's a perfect way to unbalance them. I suggest a forceful claw strike, but, if you're feeling confident enough, tackling them might be a good way to sun them." Stumblestep informed him, taking on an almost professional-like voice. "Are you ready to see a demonstration?"

Sorrelpaw w/ Stumblestep
ѕιlvy SORRELPAW
The young male harked intently to his teacher's clear instructions, ears slanted forwards in undivided attentiveness. His shrewd brain discerned her words as he stored every step of the attack move in his memory. ...veer a bit to the side and actually strike your blow to unbalance them. Got it. At her solicit for a demonstration on the moveset, the sepia tabby nodded briefly, letting out vocables from his maw, attentive and prepared. "I am."

Shadepaw stood hesitantly beside Stumblestep. "Hello," she replied, shifting uncomfortably. I was just looking for my mentor Redbreeze." Her paws were stiff to her sides; and her eyes flickered around in darting haste. Where is my mentor? Wasn't he not supposed to leave without me? When is he going to come back? She dipped her head to Stumblestep and stood up. "I'm sorry I don't have time to talk to you," she meowed politely. First I must find my mentor.

Stumblestep nodded. "Alright! Watch and learn!" She said. She got into a crouching position before darting out at him. Her pace was an odd limp-like run, something she was sure would cause her pain later in the day, but she'd worry bout that later. Her pace itself was still a bit slow - but fast enough for her to demonstrate the move. Moving closer to Sorrelpaw, one of her paws flashed out, aiming to hit him on his cheek. However, she suddenly skidded to the right, and then quickly lashed out again with her other paw now striking at the side of his neck. It was only a soft jab though. "You understand it? If so, then I want you to try it on me now."

Sorrelpaw w/ Stumblestep
ѕιlvy SORRELPAW
The brown tabby squeaked in surprise as Stumblestep caught him lightly on the neck, making him trip to the side slightly. It caught him off guard, but that was what it was supposed to do. He remembered the quick dexterity of her paw movements, switching from one side to the other as to make the enemy think they were aiming for a certain side.
"I believe I have the overall gist of it," he said. Shaking out his fur, Sorrelpaw backed away from his mentor, shoulder blades wriggling. Then after a long moment, he shot forwards like a bullet, paws almost feeling like they weren't touching the ground. Closer and closer he came, and once he decided the time was right, he outstretched a round left paw, aiming at Stumblestep's chest.
Switch, now! Careful not to lose his footing as his left forepaw was stretched out, Sorrelpaw reached forwards -lower this time - with his right as his left touched the ground. In one burst of energy, he aimed at her front leg, trying to at least unbalance her.

Stumblestep waited patiently for her apprentice to get ready. When he had gotten his footing right before charging at her, she tensed herself. Her eyes watched his every movement, making note of every detail and thing he did. 'Good, good,' she thought to herself as she watched him. When he finally launched himself towards her, he felt her body tense as he first threw a blow towards her chest, only to switch positions and instead strike at her leg. Being that she was a bit more powerful in her front legs than the average due to her difficulties, she didn't exactly falter, but, did flinch back a bit in a bit of bodily shock. Fixing herself back upwards, the she-cat purred. "Well done! Your form was great and quick - this is a perfect move for you! Be sure to be on guard for a counterattack soon afterwards though...Which brings us to our next lesson - counterattacks."
Sharpthistle let out a breath as he got up, licking his jaws from where he had been eating his mouse, his long, darker colored tail flicking back and forth. The warrior was ready to go now, with a somewhat full belly and somewhat bored. "If any cat wants to do something actually productive," his slightly high-pitched, sharp voice rang as his large, almond shaped eyes were in their usually narrowed self, "how about we go on a patrol? 3 cats should suffice."" Sure, it wasn't his position to form patrols like this, but, the deputy was out right now and things were to be done...and in all honesty, he really didn't care.

❈ -- (yay! back!)
Swiftstar nodded. "I didn't think you'd like it," she admitted, "but you've got to get used to places like this when fighting." She padded towards the center of the... mess of undergrowth, ducking under a few branches before being able to stand. "We'll be practicing, but I won't be teaching you any new moves. That's what I meant," the EchoClan leader responded simply. "Let's begin." Swiftstar said suddenly. "However, I do want you to get slightly used to this place before we start training. So go ahead and explore, practice crouches, just nothing too dangerous, and don't get out of my sight. We will only be training right here, after all, not something like twenty fox-lengths away."
