Asher leapt on to the low wall and on to the roof, almost falling on the second jump as he pulled himself on to the roof. "What was the thing back there? I only heard it moving and Aurelius yelling for us to run." Asher says glancing back the way the way they came.

Aurelius made sure the others had made it out safely before leaving himself. The leader ran behind the group, suddenly feeling a spark of hope. Then a large, unsheathed paw met with his side and sent him sprawling into the dirt. He felt a rush of shame for being caught off guard. Should have been looking behind me, he silently scolded himself. The tom stood up as the lion's amber gaze pierced him. He could feel blood slowly running down his leg and forming a puddle. Luckily for him, the lion's side was also wounded. It was crusted over, but clearly would hurt. The golden tom darted forward. He feinted to the side before slipping under the beast and running out. He scented the air for the young cats.

Right. Florianna doesn't have a connection to Diana anymore. It was severed when Aurelius took her as the heir. Normally, I wouldn't think this would happen since it was at the risk of angering the Gods but Aurelius almost has zero respect for the Gods. I'm thinking about making Aurelius' wounds become infected. )

Florianna climbed onto one more building, making it too high for the creature to get to them. "I think... I think it's a lion," The silver she cat whispered to Asher, doing her best to keep the horror from leaking into her voice, watching Aurelius go down with the golden things paws. Her hackles raised, but she called out, "Over here!" She yowled, trying to distract the lion. As long as she could distract the thing, their leader could escape from the large thing.

The lion growled as it chased after the cat. The twolegs were screaming as they threw themselves out of the way. Aurlius looked up to stop the two small shapes of the apprentice. He felt a stroke of pride at his heir. She had found the best roof and led Asher there. There was little time to think about that. The lion was not thrown off by Florianna's call. Aurlius was again grateful for being a collector as he turned down an alley. This alley was one of the ones well known by any cat belonging to the city. The leader leapt on the windows and loose stone, which made a difficult ladder up to the roof. Even large housecats would have trouble climbing these walls. It would be impossible for the lion. Aurlius hauled himself up to the roof. He forced his voice to stop shaking as he called, "Florianna! Asher!"

He nodded. The leader couldn't be seen as weak. Aurlius wouldn't stand for it. "No need to worry." He offered a small smile to hopefully comfort Florianna. "I can make it back. This is only a scratch." He looked down at his leg, which was still bleeding, and frowned. It would be troublesome to get back, but he wouldn't fail himself or the group. He put on a smile as he looked back at Florianna. "Are you and Asher okay?" He asked.

"Great!" he said genuinely with a short, quiet purr, "You did well." He glanced down in the alley to see the beast wasn't there. Instead, it was empty. He looked up and pricked his ears. They twitched for a second as he tried to pick up the lion's growl or the twoleg's screams. The air was calm. Aurelius nodded and looked back at his heir. "I think it is safe to head back. How about you lead us?" He said as if he was rewarding her. If he was able to trail in the back, he could hide his bloody leg and how slow he would have to go because of it.

Aurlius noticed her narrowed eyes and kept his amber eyes locked on hers. He hoped she was going to play along and not burst out. The golden tom sighed when she took the lead. He waited for Asher to start to follow before he did.

Asher followed Florianna as they headed back to camp, though he wondered where the lion had went. just like when they left camp, asher was staying alert just in case.

Aurlius scented the air for the lion as they padding across the roof. The wind was strong but it came from the streets. He was caught off guard by the sudden heavy scent of blood and stumbled. His claws unsheathed and caught between the ridges of the clay tiles of the roof. He steadied himself before padding to the roof's edge. It had come from the wind, not from his clotting leg. The golden tom crouched so nothing would spot him. He looked down to see the lion crippled by a slash to the leg then killed by a sword through the neck. His amber eyes narrowed as he watched the twolegs celebrate. He didn't condemn them for celebrating after a kill; he just noticed their fur was different than normal the normal and they had a lot more shiny, sharp sticks. Something was happening. The golden cat stood up and padded back to the patrol.
