@hollyyy Talonfrost watched Hollypaw trying to catch the bird, but her position was great and all. It was only her timing. The tom continued to try to catch a glimpse of her to see if she was trying.

User Name: December. Cat Name: Sadie as a kittypet, Maplelight as a clan cat. Gender: She-cat. Pronouns: She/her. Appearance: A long-legged, reddish-brown tabby she-cat. She has amber eyes and silky fur. Having grown up as a pampered pet, Maplelight can be somewhat petulant. She tends to like things her way and to be uneasy with change. She expects things to come easily for her, for everything she wants to be handed to her, and she's confused and stressed out by challenges. The danger involved in clan life appalls her at times. However, she is also extremely crafty and motivated, and she joined despite her discomfort to guarantee the survival of her unborn kits. Some cats may regard her as weak-willed or soft, but once she gives birth and her kits are out of the nursery, she plans on showing them just how far determination can get her. Sexuality: Lesbian. Romantic Attraction: Lesbian. Other: She was raised as a kittypet, but when her owners moved, they left her behind, and the new homeowners drove her away. She found PrideClan pregnant and lost, and despite her reservations about the brutality of living in the wild, she joined to guarantee that she would be able to take care of herself throughout the pregnancy and feed her kits someday.
(I'm lowkey gonna start her as a loner for Plot, but you can put her up as Maplelight like she's already here for convenience.)

Fishspot let out a faint rumble in response to his apprentice, a sound that perhaps could of been a purr (or was supposed to be), but inevitably left him in a tired and rather flat way. They did need restocking on herbs; he'd been up since the early hours of dawn and had already long kept track of what they were low on, luckily the essentials were all there, and as long as a cat didn't suddenly come down with green cough they'd be good for at least that morning... The tom didn't necessarily find great comfort in sending her out on her own either: the medicine cat's fear of the woods only made her more vulnerable after all, they'd have to get over that together eventually... He let out a soft sigh, but this time when he turned to her he tried to look genuinely pleasant enough.
"Firstly, I think it's appropriate to do a quick check on the clan. You know how warriors are, they love to keep a few scratches to themselves and there you have it, an infection. Star Clan save them." He was rambling, a rather typical scenario with him, the end of his tail flicking subconsciously as he spoke. "Anyway we just need to be sure all is well... Beside that I want to go out with you in the woods, for only a spell." Fishspot rose to his feet, the front one a painful reminder of his disability as he limped closer to her and tried to appear casually sympathetic; of course 'casual' and 'sympathetic' weren't exactly things that came naturally to the medicine cat. "We'll gather some herbs and I... I need you to get used to it." He thought about adding a pointed: 'I won't be here forever you know.', but in the end decided the comment added an unnecessary morbidity to his point. He was trying to be casual, after all.

Ottersplash slinked out of the warriors den, head low to the ground. She had been woken up by a loud growl emitted from her stomach only moments prior. She was occupied with duties the night before, and forgot to grab a tasty meal before passing out in her mossy nest, making her hungrier than she was since leafbare. She lifted her long, brown face, sniffing the air for scents of fresh prey. When nothing but semi-stale rodent filled her nostrils, she allowed herself to frown a little. The hunting patrol must be out now, or going soon.
Twitching her tail in agitation and slight disappointment, she gave the camp a quick once-over. Mayhaps there was someone who she could talk to while she waited for her breakfast? Or perhaps someone to go hunting with the she? Sootspot was the first one she spotted, but he seemed to be busy washing his pelt. Should she disrupt him?
Ottersplash shook her head, and straightened up to a confident stance with a small huff. She was a Siamese, through and through. If she didn't want to shame her entire bloodline, she would act as they were supposed to. Opinionated, social, and most importantly, prideful. Raising her chin slightly and simply oozing confidence after her self-encouraging pep talk, she strutted over to Sootspot, with her tail raised and spirits as high as she could drag them up. She wasn't the best with other cats, and was often seen as emotionless and no-nonsense. Socializing was always a challenge for her. She never quite grasped the concept. However, her late mother was very expectant for her kits to behave like proper Siamese, so she talked to others the best she could.
She cleared her throat after she reached the tom. "Sootspot," She adressed him, voice clear and calm. "...How are you?" This time, there was more caution in her tone. She pulled her ears back slightly, but did her best to remain cool and composed.

Bobbytail was attending to her warrior duties as usual; rump on the air, paws centered, and her leafy green eyes focused intently ahead of her on the enemy. A single blade of very suspicious looking grass. She swiped a tongue across her chops and pounced, wrestling with the weed for a few moments before triumphantly clasping it in her sharp jaws. Crisis averted, Duskstar. Of course while she had enough self-consciousness to want to remain out of sight while pursuing apprentice-like endeavors, in the end boredom won over, and she decided to take her great plant-versus-cat battle behind a tree, hopefully away from the gazes of others.

At his mention of the forest, Leafsplash's heart sank, but she tried to school her face into something calm and relaxed. Of course, as her mentor continued speaking, she realized that he'd seen right through her, and she couldn't help but duck her head, embarrassed. She couldn't imagine what the clan thought of her during times like these. When she'd been a young apprentice, her wounds still fresh and her her small stature still kitlike, her jumpiness must have been more forgivable, but now that she's recieved her full medicine cat name, she couldn't imagine that she invoked any of the same sympathy.
It doesn't matter what they think, Dapplestorm would have told her. It mattered to Leafsplash, though, as pathetic as that was. She wanted to be able to give her clanmates her best effort, and more importantly, she wanted to make her mentor proud for once. After a rough winter season, she could identify greencough well enough, and she knew how to press a cobweb to a wound to stop the bleeding, but she hadn't yet mastered an apprentice's easiest task. It was humiliating.
"I know," she murmured. "I'm sorry. I promise, I'll be okay." Reminding herself that there would be at least one thing she could do right this morning, she lifted her chin and added, "I'll get to checking on everyone right away. I'm sure they're all fine, but you never know."
After all, in her experience, problems didn't come with warnings. They hit like a storm - sudden, unpredictable, leaving behind only a wake of destruction.

Someday, Sadie told herself, you're going to have to step inside.
The forest before her smelled like a thousand things - greenery, small animals, the freshness of rain even with the earth dry beneath her paws. More importantly, though, she caught the distinct scent of cat. The longer she lingered, the more that she realized it wasn't even one cat, but too many of them to count, all bearing a similar, underlying scent with their own unique tones. Sadie hadn't had the pleasure of meeting too many other cats in her life. There were her siblings, but she'd been taken from them when she was so small that she could barely call their memories to her mind. There was the father of her kits, but - well, that had been a disaster. Otherwise, though, her neighbors had had a dog, and she never had spent much time exploring the neighborhood while it had been hers.
(A pang struck her at all the past tense. For all her life, she'd expected to live in the white house with the lilac bush forever, receiving food, water, and affection on such a predictable schedule that she'd forgotten how to want for anything. She had wanted to die in that house, but now...)
She took a deep breath. The prospect of stepping into a place so teeming with life overwhelmed her, made her want to scamper back home and crouch under the little twoleg's bed until the tight feeling in her chest passed. Home was gone, though, she had to remember. There was nowhere left to hide.
Her stomach growled, dragging her attention away from her morbid thoughts and back to the kits tucked away in her belly. If she didn't eat soon, she wouldn't last much longer, and if she didn't keep going, they would never get a shot at their first breaths. With that in mind, she pushed her reservations aside, heaved herself to her feet, and padded into the brush.

Fishspot looked a little tense as she apologized, having not ment to've squeezed exactly that reaction from her. It was in moments like those that he wished he was a little better at relating to other cats on a more emotional, less professional level. No need to apologize, you're trying your best. would've been a good thing to remind her, but under the pressure of wanting to say something useful, he ended up merely standing and saying nothing of help
"Alright, thank you." There was a jeer of apology in his voice, perhaps toward himself, though he made no move to go on and merely returned to his supply of herbs, running his olive eyes softly over them as though it were possible a poppy seed would've grown the ability to get up and walk in the short time he'd spoken to Dapplestorm. To say the least, everything was exactly as he left it. Poor kid. He twitched his whiskers humorously in the end, however. I wonder if I'd avoid trees if I could climb them. StarClan knows."

(Okay, Leafsplash is open for a little chat if anyone's waiting.)
"Of course," Leafsplash murmured. She watched him turn back to the herbs, and something about his expression stirred worry in the pit of her stomach, but she reminded herself that she had a duty, and staring at him certainly wouldn't help him as much as following his instructions would. Ducking her head - a habit she'd picked up, even though she was too petite to worry about hitting her forehead of much of anything - she exited the medicine cat den and emerged into the open.
She smiled as the scent of flowers wafted over her. A PrideClan cat through and through, she'd always adored them. Something about their presence calmed her nerves. Distantly, she could recall Dapplestorm - Dapplepaw, back then - padding into the medicine cat den every day while she was healing, jaw overflowing with wildflowers in every color imaginable. She'd lost track of how many times she'd been soothed to sleep on lonely nights with their scent in her nostrils, chasing away dark memories.
Blinking, she glanced around, searching for a cat who seemed unoccupied. She certainly didn't want to distract any of the warriors from their duties, but she was eager to check up on them. Warriors, she'd learned, were a ruthlessly prideful bunch, and even the kindest wanted to play self-sacrificing sometimes.
Like you, a voice that sounded suspiciously like Dapplestorm replied, but with an irritated flick of her tail, she dismissed it.

"I'm John Laurens in the place to be!" OOC~
Roleplay- "Lafayette!" ~Hamilton
Sootspot glanced up. "Huh?" He grumbled. "Oh. Hello." He said, getting up on four paws. Sootspot gave his pelt a quick shake, blinking his eyes. "I'm good, you?" He replied, the scent of freshkill making his stomac rumble. "My apologies for my stomach. I'm hungry, you?" Sootspot narrowed his eyes as he looked at the sky. The grey tom's pupils thinned and became tiny as his vision adjusted to the light. "What's up?" He replied coolly, licking one paw and drawing it over an ear.
Growing up, Sootspot had to have the best coat. He still had to. Prob'ly thinks I'm crazy. Not that I care. Sootspot thought, drawing his paw over one ear. His bright eyes blinked warmly at the she-cat, curiously like a warm in his stomach. I want to eat but hunting's better. Sootspot gave his coat one last shake before standing right beside the cat talking to him.

Stonefleck shyly looks around the clan. He wondered if anyone wanted to go hunting with him. He had been apart of the clan for a couple of moons but was still getting used to everyone. Stonefleck had no idea there was so many cats like him.
Mintshade winces as her kits kicks against her belly. "Calm down." She mumbled before licking her belly.
Aldertooth yawned as he laid down in front of the elders den. He listened to the sounds all around him.
Vixenfrost made sure her fur looked nice and lcean. She looked up wondering who she could talk or mess with today.

Leafsplash spotted Stonefleck sitting alone, peering anxiously around. Perfect, she thought. She didn't know him well, but she got the sense that he still wasn't comfortable in his place in the clan, and as the medicine cat apprentice, it was her job to make sure everyone in the clan was doing well - physically and emotionally.
Putting on her most cheerful face, she bounded up to him, tail waving leisurely as she went. The forest may have sent her anxiety spiking, but among her clanmates, as long as she was being helpful rather than a nuisance, she felt perfectly at home. "Hi!" she chirped. "Fishspot has me checking up on everyone. Are you doing okay?"

Dapplestorm padded into camp with a limp squirrel hanging from his jaw. Technically, he hadn't been on patrol, but he preferred to spend his mornings hunting if he could, even if he wasn't scheduled to leave camp. The forest was where he felt that most at peace, alone in the crisp air with the scent of life all around him. Much as he respected his clanmates, it took him a while to warm up enough to interact with others after waking, and he valued his alone time as much as he valued his contributions on patrol. He dropped his catch in the fresh-kill pile and stood back, surveying the camp. It seemed like a slow day, which was good for the safety of the Clan, but left him flicking his tail anyway, wondering how best to busy himself. (Dapplestorm is free! Here you go.)

Stonefleck waved his tail at Leafsplash. "Ah hello there. Um I'm doing okay." He said though he didn't really sound all that sure. Stonefleck takes a moment to recover himself before speaking again. "Well, I'm still getting used to everything. The fact everyone is so nice throws me off."

Pidgeonwing noticed Dapplestorm enter camp from his early morning hunting excursion. He'd noticed that Dapplestorm would leave every morning very early to go hunting. NOT THAT HE WAS STALKING HIM OR ANYTHING. NO. OUTRAGEOUS. Just. Just curious about what he was doing. He slowly scooted his way over to where Dapplestorm was sitting. Slowly approaching. One step at a time.

Leafsplash's heart ached in sympathy. She'd grown up in PrideClan, with two loving parents and clanmates who didn't bat an eye an her attraction to she-cats. She'd heard her fair share of stories passed down from the old days - or in this case, memories from not so long ago from cats who hadn't had the luck that she did - but she couldn't actually imagine living in such a hostile and unaccepting environment. She suppressed a shudder.
She didn't want to pry too hard into Stonefleck's life before. After all, she certainly would've been uncomfortable if he brought up her worst memories right now. Still, she flicked her ear in sympathy and replied, "That's okay. You haven't been here very long. An adjustment period is normal." After a brief pause, she decided to continue: "I'm sorry that your old clanmates weren't so kind. If it helps, I promise that nobody here will ever hurt you that way again."
Leafsplash wasn't a violent cat. In fact, she was a decidedly unviolent cat. This, though? She would tear the world apart for the safety of her clanmates, even if her blows were clumsy and her swipes too soft. Anything to keep them safe.

(I'M SCREAMING. LOOK AT HIM. What a precious.)
Dapplestorm's gaze slid to Pidgeonwing. He watched the tom approach for a few agonizing moments, decided the silence combined with the eye contact was too painfully awkward, and meowed, "Can I help you?"
It came out gruffer than he intended. Truthfully, Dapplestorm didn't know Pidgeonwing well enough to mind him; in fact, if he was being honest with himself, there were a lot of PrideClan cats he could be much closer to. It was just that when he spoke, his words often emerged hard and rough around the edges, through his maw before he could remedy their bluntness. Leafsplash often told him he could stand to work on his social skills, and inwardly cringing, he had to admit that she was right.
