Smokesplash and Sootsplash padded toward the entrance of the castle. They'd meant to leave far earlier to hunt for the next ingredient in their plan, but they'd run into problems. Now, however, they were free to go. At least at the moment, which would explain why they hurried along at a fast pace, to avoid any stops.
Sagebrush patrolled outside the castle. She'd thought about hunting, but decided against it. Moving toward the Black Lake, she sniffed at the air for any signs of dragons. There was nothing, so she moved out into the open and trotted forward.

Riverpaw ran up to Smokesplash and Sootsplash.
"Where you guys going!?" he asked, keeping up with them somehow.

Both cats jumped at the apprentices sudden appearance. Exchangeing glances, they shifted, putting Riverpaw in between them. They continued their fast paced walk and grinned mischeiviously down at the apprentice.
"Nowhere special, just a casual stroll" They said smoothly.

Riverpaw looked between them.
"Can I come with? I'm bored of the castle and I'm not allowed to leave by myself, and Shadowfur told me to go away....." He asked.

The two exchange weary glances.
"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Sootsplash pried.
"Yea, we are just wandering around aimlessly, it will probably be more boring then the castle" Smokesplash added.

After exchanging glances they loked down at Riverpaw and sighed.
"Fine" Sootsplash huffed.
"But if you tell a soul anything" Smokesplash threatened.
"We'll ut wart juice in your nest and you'll be covered in warts for weeks" They both finished in flat tones.

Sootsplash and Smokesplash, satisfied with his answer nodded and took a sharp right, heading toward teh brush below the large tree the went through the Eagle Den. They both looked at Riverpaw.
"Ever been in the Eagle Den?" They asked slyly.

"Really?" They both said with mischievous smiles.
"Who says you have to be allowed?" Sootsplash asked, sitting down in front of Riverpaw.
"What if there was a cat being attacked by a dragon in the Eagle Den and you didn't go in to help them because you weren't allowed?" Smokesplash said, sitting beside his brother.
"And that cat dies, all because you didn't go into the Den" They both finished, looking at Riverpaw expectantly.

Sootsplash and Smokesplash chuckled and shook their heads.
"But you are the center of all this" Sootsplash waved his tail in a circle as a gesture to the whole clan. Smokesplash then stepped up to explain.
"Without Apprentices, we wouldn't have warriors. If we didn't have warriors we wouldn't be much of a clan now would we? And if we did have warriors, they would all be trying to discover and master their powers while they are supposed to be protecting others. Without Apprentices, a clan couldn't exsist." Smokesplash said smoothly and Sootsplash nodded silently in agreement.

Smokesplash and Sootsplash exchanged victorious glances and then moved their attention to his next question.
"Well...... Smokesplash and I are working on a sort of project." Sootsplash said slowly.
"A project for studies of course" Smokesplash added. They figured the apprentice wouldn't rat on them, but they wouldn't take to many chances.
"One ingrediant we are missing"
"Is up in the Eagle Den"
