Duskfeather- Is assigning hunting patrols/Training with Hawkpaw Just because leaf bare was almost over, doesn’t mean the clan’s troubles had stopped. In fact, Duskfeather was more busy then ever. Fawnstar had stopped bleeding, but the wound had gotten infected, and Amberdapple was so busy with helping the leader, that leadership of the clan had almost completely gone over to Duskfeather. He never truly realized how hard it was to be a clan leader. Duskfeather gained even more respect for Fawnstar after everything this leaf bare, his leader, but also his friend. On top of everything, he also had an apprentice now, one of Rindlestripe’s kits, Hawkpaw. It was his duty to ensure the young cat will become a skilled warrior one day, hunting for and defending his clan. The deputy planned on taking Hawkpaw out for his first training session soon, but he had some hunting patrols to organize first. Seeing as Clemetinscreesh, Hatchpaw’s mentor, and Shinepaw, Fogshard’s apprentice, were both in the medicine den, he decided to send those two healthy cats with Rindlestripe. “Fogshard and Rindlestripe, take Hatchpaw with you for hunting. Teach him how to hunt, but also make sure to bring back some prey caugh by yourselves, just in case.”. With that out of the way, Duskfeather lead Hawkpaw out to the training grounds. Before anything else, Duskfeather planned to teach his apprentice about something most mentors forget about; keeping your footing on snow. While leaf bare was almost over, it was certainly a valuable skill to have for the future, as battles during the cold season for food were bound to happen. “Snow, especially during late leaf bare, when it starts to melt, can become slippery and hard to traverse. When walking or running, keep a good distance between your feet, and use your tail to balance when you need to! Also, your paws will be cold, so you shouldn’t spend too much time standing in one place in snow.”. Duskfeather- Watched over Havenkit/Is annoyed by Nightkit’s negative attitude Surprisingly, Duskfeather sometimes found himself in the nursery with the kits. He was surprised so see that he enjoyed watching the kits play, and sometimes even playing with them. Fawnstar had her infected wound, so many clan mates helped raise the kits. While Duskfeather was busy, he did enjoy taking some time off and just playing. It reminded him of a time long past, when he was merely Duskkit, dreaming of being a powerful and loyal warrior. He smiled as he remembered the simpler times. He wanted these kits to be able to cherish these moments in their youth too. Duskfeather especially noticed Havenkit’s active imagination and politeness. The deputy saw a lot of potential in him. If he didn’t already have Hawkpaw as an apprentice, he would have liked to train Havenkit himself. But he will most likely still be busy with Hawkpaw by the time the kits grow up. As he kept looking around the nursery, he noticed that Nightkit had gone missing. Did she sneak out?! Duskfeather rushed outside the nursery, then outside of camp to see Nightkit in the snow. Before she could wander any further, Duskfeather stopped her. “Nightkit! You know kits aren’t allowed to leave camp! It’s dangerous out there, as there are many predators that could hurt you. I know you’re almost as old as Rindlestripe’s kits, but you still need to wait one moon before you become an apprentice.”. Tagging Hawkheart stormshade1 Hawkpaw training with duskfeather!Hawkpaw was excited and shy for his training and was now out in the snow trying to keep his footing on the slipery ground. " This is hard!"He said to duskfeather after a few trys. " How did you get so good?"

Goldpaw-training patrol with Cloverfur, Leopardcry, Dustpaw/Wants Duskfeather to assign him to the next border patrol/thinks he’s part of a new prophecy It was a cold afternoon in leafbare. Goldpaw was on the patrol with his mentor and clanmates, walking at the very back of it. Training had just been called off due to the snow being too slick which he understands. Goldpaw had nearly slipped on the snow himself on the way to training and he didn’t want to practice fighting, not with the weather as it is. At least this gives Goldpaw some time to think about this dream that he had just gotten last night. This dream had him be alone wandering in the orchard at night. Nothing about the dream felt familiar to him despite Goldpaw having been there many times before. The orchard didn’t smell familiar to him either, which he found odd. It felt like he was looking at the orchard for the very first time all over again. He remembers that his dream was mostly noiseless without the sound of crickets chirping nor of leaves rustling in the breeze. Only the sound he remembered hearing was of the howling wind. In that dream, Goldpaw saw an unfamiliar shadowy figure whose features he couldn’t make out. He cautiously approached it only to wake up before he could get a good chance to look at it. He wondered who or what was that figure? Whose dreams did he walk in? Was this a prophecy from Starclan? If it was, is he a part of it? Goldpaw then thought of the Plumclan deputy, Duskfeather. He hoped that Duskfeather will assign him to the next border patrol. If he is part of a new prophecy like he suspected he might be, he wants figure it out as soon as possible and help the rest of his clanmates when the time comes. @dewbranch duskflight MistyPath

Duskfeather- Training with Hawkpaw "This is hard! How did you get so good?" Hawkpaw asked the deputy. Duskfeather could see the young apprentice was trying his best. It reminded him of when he was younger. He purred as he thought of a time long ago, when he was standing here with his own mentor, trying to master the same thing Hawkpaw is trying now. Back then, it seemed hard even for him. But as time went on, he kept practicing, and became better and better. Not just at keeping his footing on snow, but with training in general. “It might seem difficult at first. I wasn’t great at it either when I was your age” he chuckled. “But my mentor insisted I keep practicing. And with time, I got better, and the skill payed off in many snowy battles. Perseverance is something you should remember for everything you learn.”. Duskfeather stared in the distance for a bit, reminiscing, and then returned to reality. “Just keep trying, don’t give up, and eventually, you’ll get as good as me. Then, we can get to battle training!” Duskfeather said as he smiled. Climbing and fighting were his best skills, so he wanted to pass down these traits to Hawkpaw as well. “And don’t forget to use your tail for balance!”. Tagging Hawkheart

Rindlestripe
Argues with Goldpaw over prey Saves prey for Shinepaw ”I told you already”, Rindlestripe growled, ”I caught this blackbird for Shinepaw to eat in the medicine den. He needs to recover his strength as soon as possible.” The masked tabby was standing near the fresh-kill pile, defending their bird from Goldpaw. The older apprentice appeared hungry, but Rindlestripe had little empathy. The pile was as full as it could be! Without another word, they carried the blackbird away and headed promptly towards the mossy den.
The expansive medicine den became a familiar sight for Rindlestripe lately. Although the warrior was relieved to be cured from yellowcough, their smallest kit Shinepaw was still dealing with repercussions from the disease. Shinepaw’s littermates echoed his name the loudest during his ceremony, and Rindlestripe felt a sense of pride that his family has blended in so well with PlumClan. They would be beyond devastated if Shinepaw didn't make it through.
”Hey there, Shinepaw. Have this blackbird! I caught it near the cornfields.” the tabby dropped their prey a tail-length from Shinepaw’s nest and lingered on the last sentence with a purr. “I hope you’ll be able to hunt with me soon. Take care, alright?” Gathering their thoughts, Rindlestripe glanced at the other patient, Clementinescreech. Hatchpaw’s mentor. Six moons in the nursery, only to be apprenticed to an injured mentor. How will he be able to train? And Fogshard was Shinepaw's mentor- how would Rindlestripe's former apprentice be able to teach all of the skills he learned?
Looks like they’d have to take matters into their own paws.
Rindlestripe headed towards the apprentice den, masked face peeking out, and noticed the speckled backside of Hatchpaw. The warrior cleared their throat before acknowledging their underappreciated son. “Feeling bored, Hatchpaw? If you're looking for a partner to patrol with, I’m open.” Perhaps Fogshard would be willing to come along too; all the more time for Rindlestripe to spend as a parent and teacher! tags:asrise Brownie stonekeeper wingnettle ooc: (Rindlestripe parent of the year award <3)

HatchpawHatchpaw’s ears pricked at the sound of his parent’s voice, shifting around to meet their eyes. “Really? You can do that?” he mewed in response, getting to his paws with new excitement. He’d thought that he needed his mentor by his side before he could go on patrol. Maybe Clementinescreech would be angry if he went on his first patrol without her… But pushing that thought aside, he peeked through the apprentice den while Rindlestripe beckoned for him with a flick of their tail. No. I’m going to make Rindlestripe proud of me today! he thought before bounding up to them, a purr in his throat. “I-I’d love to, actually! Can we go right now?”

Tagging Hawkheart stormshade1 Forestkit .*❁ ________________________________________________________________________________________________* Is adamantly refusing to nap * Said she'd cover for Duskfeather, but ended up getting him in trouble Forestkit huffed as she glanced around the nursery, annoyed with everything and everyone. It was not a good day for her. For starters, everyone in the nursery was asleep, and Forestkit was not built for sleep! She was built to climb! As she lay in her nest, snuggling with her littermates and mother, she began to drift and dream of climbing the stones that walled the camp. How fast could she climb them? What could she see from the top? Oh, what it must be like...
Forestkit felt her body twitch and she blinked open her eyes with a snort. Napping! How could she nap! Forestkit was having a bad day! She could not nap! Napping was for the weak! Forestkit began to think, and then remembered the second reason that she was annoyed. Thinking about that would keep her awake, surely?
The she-kit thought back to the day's prior events. Duskfeather, her deputy, had come into the Nursery to spend time with all of Plumclan's kits. They had played lots of games, and Duskfeather had seemed to thoroughly enjoy his time in the Nursery. For the few moons that Forestkit had been alive, she had initially noticed that Duskfeather was a quieter cat, and it surprised her that he could have fun. With her kit imagination, Forestkit had thought Duskfeather was stern and too busy for fun, and that he didn't like kits. After all, he was the clan deputy. His job was to organize patrols and run the clan while her mother recovered, not play silly little games! Realizing that Duskfeather enjoyed kits was a silly little secret! But the rest of the clan couldn't find out, oh no! They would never listen to a deputy that played kit games. It would be the end of the clan! And if the other clans found out? Even worse! Forestkit had made sure to assure Duskfeather that his secret was safe with her.
Thinking deeper, Forestkit wrinkled her nose, remembering the last bit of the interaction. At the time, she had just wanted to make sure the other kit's didn't tell anyone that Duskfeather was a soft-heart, especially since her den-mates were half-clan or of unknown origin to Forestkit. Of all the kits, Nightkit definitely couldn't tell anyone! She had connections with rogues! So Forestkit had said, "Nightkit, you can't tell the rogues that Duskfeather likes kit games!", but Nightkit had already run off to tell them! What a fox-heart!
Forestkit knew she had made a mistake when Duskfeather had abruptly run out of the Nursery. He was going to be in big trouble with the clans now for sure... Forestkit drifted off, her nose still wrinkled in anger as she snoozed. __________________________________________________________________________________chocolatemilk7

Nightkit Found (3 moons ago) (stonekeeper) It was almost night. The setting sun painted the sky like a canvas, gold, pink, purple, blue, black, all in a swirl of majestic colour. The last beams of golden light shone down, the patchwork of branches and leaves only allowing occasional openings for the forest floor to be illuminated. On first glance, the tears in the quilt of foliage would seem like nothing exciting, just boring snow and bushes. Even on second or third glance, all you’d see was pretty boring. But if you knew where to look, maybe you could hear, or even possibly see, a small ball of fluff mewling, crying for her mother who would never return. * * * * * Dark. Cold. Wet. Hungry. That was all she knew. All she could remember save for small bits of memories of her mother. It seemed like a long time ago when she was cared for, when she was loved. But that time was long past. And now she was alone. Curled up in a ball under a bush, waiting to die. Because she knew she could never survive on her own. It was too late now. But she did know that if she died her parents’ sacrifices would be for nothing. But it didn’t matter anymore. They were dead. She was alone, starving. She would die. There was nothing she could do. And so she lay there shivering in the snow, cold and wet. She was small, just skin and bones at that point. She had been surviving off bugs for about a moon and a half. Not that there was much to survive for. She would be happier dead. She would get to see her parents again, and she wouldn’t be so cold and hungry. She could run in endless meadows, never worrying about food or water, or rain or snow. So she laid there and waited. Eventually a sound interrupted her. She lifted her head slowly, and through foggy eyes she could make out the shape of a small cat. It was a small golden tom. She flinched, trying to back away. The rogues had come to take her, too. She didn’t want to die like this, to become a bloody mess. She wanted to die naturally. She let out a weak hiss, her small paws moving her back. But she didn’t get very far. The tom gently picked her up by the scruff and started running. She saw his three companions: a gray tom with a darker stripe running down his back, a brown molly with a darker back and white patches on her chin and belly, and an almost black tom with black stripes. She knew she was going to die. But, against her will, the rocking of the cat running and the steady beat of pastels, along with the tiredness that had already threatened to overwhelm her, soon lulled her into sleep. * * * * * She woke up surrounded by leafy scents. Was she dead? Was this where cats go when they died? No, it couldn’t be. She could still feel the pangs of hunger, though she wasn’t as cold now. She was warm. Some at was curled right around her, keeping her warm. She opened her eyes, and the cat warming her moved. “You’re awake,” The bigger cat said softly. “You’re okay now. It’s safe here.” She told the kit. She nudged something towards the kit. “Eat.” It was big, almost the size of the kit. She took a furry mouthful and chewed. Besides the fur, it tasted good. And it filled her belly. After she was satisfied, having eaten more in those few minutes than she had in a day for the past moon, she stopped eating. “Can you speak?” The older cat asked, and the kit nodded. “Then show me you can.” The kit croaked out, “Yes. Yes, I can.” “Do you have a name?” The kit thought for a few moments, then said, “My mama called me Night.” “That’s a lovely name, Night. My name is Amberdapple. I bet you’re thirsty. Here. Drink this.” Amberdapple pushed water-soaked moss towards Night, and she hastily lapped it up, not realizing how thirsty she was until then. “You’re alright. You’ll just need a few days to settle in.”

HatchpawHatchpaw gulped, looking down at the body of Shinepaw blankly. She was really gone, he thought, almost in disbelief. Sure, Shinepaw had been sick for moons, but Hatchpaw had never thought that it would get this bad. She’d never be able to go on patrol with him, or hunt alongside him, or even press her fur to his. Hatchpaw had never even considered the possibility that he’d never see his sister again when he’d left her side just a few nights ago. Everyone treated the subject like Shinepaw would get better… Why would they lie to him like that?!
Hawkpaw was speaking now, telling a story about Shinepaw when they were kits. Hawkpaw always liked to laugh. But Hatchpaw wasn’t listening anyways. He wanted to cry, to run away, to do anything, but he could only stand and stare as the vigil continued. Cats came and went through the night, but Rindlestripe, Daisypaw and Hawkpaw stuck by.
Hatchpaw looked up at his parent, who seemed to cling to Shinepaw. He butted his face against Rindlestripe’s side, hoping they’d feel just a little better. Deep inside, though, Hatchpaw wanted Rindlestripe to comfort him too. He couldn’t imagine what he would do if Rindlestripe was gone one day, and now that Shinepaw was dead… it could happen to anyone, if it could happen to her.
As Rindlestripe plodded to their nest, Hatchpaw spotted a feather sticking out of Fawnstar’s nest. He knew stealing was wrong… but maybe it could cheer Rindlestripe up. That’s a much better use than whatever Fawnstar was doing with it, he guessed, creeping up using the hunting crouch he had learned the moon earlier before snagging it in his jaws and leaving it on Rindlestripe’s nest.
A few days passed, and eventually Hatchpaw was ready to be back out and about again. He was back to his usual habits, playing alone just outside camp. It was better like this, without the others constantly asking about Shinepaw. Fawnstar’s kits were playing behind him while he climbed, mewing excitedly and tumbling around. What a ruckus!
Suddenly shadow passed over Hatchpaw, once, then once again. He scarcely had time to realise what it was when the creature dived. Hearing an ear-splitting squeal, Hatchpaw whipped his head around to see it hook its talons into Havenkit’s back.
Hatchpaw scarcely had gotten a thought out before lunging onto the hawk, wildly slashing his claws and teeth at the creature’s talons, wincing at the harsh blows of powerful wings on his back and the shrill cry of Havenkit. No! He willed himself. This will not happen again, I won’t let another of my clanmates die! Ripping feathers from everywhere he thought it would hurt, Hatchpaw struggled with the bird until it relented, releasing Havenkit. Covering the little kit’s body with his back, he rushed into the safety of the bush.
The two gasped in relief, shaking like leaves in a storm. Hatchpaw’s grip on Havenkit was almost as tight as the hawk’s was. At last, he was able to take in a giant breath, the hammering of his heart in his throat slowing. Havenkit looked up at him with wide eyes. Maybe I couldn’t save Shinepaw, Hatchpaw thought as he stared back at the kit. But I could still protect you. And I always will.

fogshard ★ Fogshard wanted to make Nightpaw's first day out of camp special. Many moons ago, when Rindlestripe had taken him out into the territory for the first time, they'd gone to see the twoleg's garden and the road. The young warrior never forgot the experience--or the realization that the world was so, so much bigger than PlumClan. It had kindled in him a sense of adventure that was still a steady flame to this day.
He wanted to take Nightpaw to see the pigs, or maybe to the barren fields but...
A curve of the Stone Wall, hardly outside of sight from PlumClan's camp, was the best place to gather moss. After the long winter, PlumClan's stock was critically low and it was too important of a task to ignore. Still, he could try to make it as much of an adventure as he could.
"The Stone Wall is hundreds of seasons old," Fogshard said, repeating the words he'd heard so many times from warriors when he was an apprentice. "Now, twolegs make their fences out of metal and wood because they have hands, and tools. But all those seasons ago, twolegs walked on four legs and could only build with stones from the stream, like we do.
"One day, we'll also discover how to build with wood, but no cat has quite figured out how to do it properly yet. Maybe you will be the one to steal the twolegs' secret, Nightpaw!" Fogshard mewed enthusiastically, peeking over his shoulder with a grin on his face. He kept a spring in his step as he dodged piles of snow--really only sticking in clumps where it was shaded--down the short path that followed the serpentine Wall.
Fogshard froze when he arrived at the moss gathering spot. Usually, the Wall here was lush with moss and vines on the shaded northern face but, like on the ground, the shade meant that snow clumped here in a wide drift. Fogshard bit back a hiss of frustration, turning back to Nightpaw, though it was harder to force a grin this time. "We'll have to dig through the snow to get at the moss. It will be challenging, but all a warrior's tasks are!"
He'd never had the opportunity to train Shinepaw, the young tom succumbing to the sickness that he'd caught as a kit, and so Fogshard was determined to show Fawnstar--and StarClan--that he could do right by Nightpaw. Still, he felt StarClan was cursing him: first Shinepaw's illness, now a thaw that didn't come, making Nightpaw's training harder too? He tried to take his own words to heart--a warrior's task is always challenging--but stars, he really wished one thing could be easy. ★stormshade1 I SWEAR I fixed Nightpaw's name in the base like. At least four times now. Idk man it just don't stick xp Should be fixed now. ★

Duskfeather- Hunting with Willowmouse, Hawkpaw and Daisypaw It had been a few days since PlumClan lost Shinepaw to sickness. Their death took a heavy toll on the clan, especially since it was the first in quite a while. Still, life goes on, and with the late thaw this season, the rest of the apprentice had to learn to hunt. Duskfeather decided that taking the rest of Rindlestripe’s kits on patrol together was a good idea, so that they could lean on each other for emotional support after their recent loss. Duskfeather had already shown Hawkpaw the basics of hunting before, soon after he learned to keep his footing snow, which, now would prove to be a useful lesson. However now was the first time Hawkpaw would be hunting properly, so Duskfeather wanted to make sure his apprentice would get a good catch. “Remember to use the wind so that your prey can’t smell you. Stalk quietly so they don’t hear you. And don’t forget wait to find the best moment to pounce.”, Duskfeather said to Hawkpaw. He had confidence in his apprentice. Tagging Hawkheart jaybun!

WILLOWMOUSE - Hunting with Duskfeather, Daisypaw, and Hawkpaw! Leaf-bare was often the season of sorrows. The snow and cold was harsh even if you were healthy, but downright deadly when ill. Willowmouse couldn't say she was surprised by the news of Shinepaw's death. Yellow-cough was never kind. At least Fawnstar had been able to give the young tom the honor of dying as an apprentice. Daisypaw seemed more subdued, Willowmouse wouldn't begrudge her that. After a long night sitting vigil, she also didn't plan to force the little molly to train. But to her surprise, Daisypaw had been the one to demand they join Duskfeather and Hawkpaw. She was hard pressed to think of a reason to say no but... " Keep that tail still." Willowmouse chimed in after Duskfeather's tips. If the two litter-mates wanted to push on, they would do it right at the very least. chocolatemilk7

Hawkpaw hunting with willowmouse duskfeather and daisypawAs duskfeather gave some tips to him about hunting he stared at the kind deputy with admiration in his eyes and then a second later remembered shinepaws death. Stop thinking about it! He thought but it whould not go away. Hawkpaw tryed to look cheerful but he could tell duskfeather was staring at him. ill get the next prey i see! He thought with determination. then the smell of mouse hit the top of his mouth and he swiveled his ears to hear the prey in a near-by bush. He got into his hunting crouch and stepped forword lightly. Then with a large leap over took the prey and killed it with one bite! He walked over to duskfeather " Was that good?" chocolatemilk7

(Thank you!) Golddusk-Patrol with Cloverfur, Hatchpaw, and Dustpaw Golddusk was out on patrol with his clanmates, thinking about his recent warrior ceremony. He felt proud of himself for having finally received his warrior name at last. However, this month had been a sorrowful one as well with the loss of Shinepaw. Although Golddusk has no siblings nor parents of his own, he cannot imagine the pain that Hatchpaw and his family must be going through right now. To lose someone so close to them… Golddusk then turned his attention to Dustpaw. The goal of this training patrol was pretty simple. Both he and Cloverfur will be training the apprentices on climbing with Cloverfur training Hatchpaw and Golddusk training Dustpaw. It felt odd to Golddusk that he will be helping to train an apprentice when he himself was once an apprentice until very recently. He figured that this training patrol would be a good way for him to gain experience in training an apprentice while helping his fellow clanmate. After all, one day he will be getting an apprentice of his own as well. “Okay Dustpaw, do you know what skills you need to practice on before your assessment?” Golddusk asked Dustpaw. @dewbranch MistyPath asrise

fogshard wonders what is beyond PlumClan's borders is amazed at Daisypaw's talent lazzylake ★ He liked to think he was always looking to the horizon.
Every day he wasn't on sunset patrol, Fogshard came up to the roof of PlumClan's camp and watched the sun set. He was a little sour that his view was tainted by BurdockClan's territory--the rival Clan was frustratingly mundane--but though he supposed he could wake to watch the sun rise over the unknown hills past the farm fields, well... Fogshard wasn't much of an early riser.
So he suffered to look over BurdockClan's territory, painted gold by the long sun rays, trying to ignore the stuffy prey-thieves that were no doubt padding through and instead forcing himself to wonder what was beyond that horizon. West. There was a city that direction, less than a day's walk away. He thought he could see the glow of lights in the twilight, a haze that he didn't think the setting sun could claim responsibility for.
Perhaps one day, he could convince Fawnstar to let him explore.
Perhaps... he wouldn't ask for permission at all. He was a warrior now, he could choose for himself where his paws would lead him. The thought sent a thrill of excitement through him, a grin spreading across his face. Yes, he didn't have to stay in one place forever if he didn't want to.
Of course, he couldn't go now. He had a responsibility to Nightpaw and Fogshard took that seriously. And he'd like to stay and watch the other apprentices grow: Daisypaw in particular had caught his eye, but of course the curious molly would excel with all of Willowmouse's wealth of experience to draw from. He'd have to stay to cheer her on when she earned her name.
And maybe Fawnstar's kits too.
He would miss his Clanmates. He'd be leaving Cloverfur's jokes, Amberdapple's good-natured pestering... Fogshard would even miss Duskfeather's calm competence, even if the dark deputy was a bit thorny sometimes.
He'd have to leave Rindlestripe. Maybe he'd have been able to convince his former mentor to come with him on an adventure before, but now that they had kits, a family of his own, Fogshard knew he could never bring himself to ask Rindlestripe to leave, not for him.
Fogshard's excitement dampened, extinguished with the last of the sun's rays. BurdockClan's grassy fields, once painted golden, were now dull with the coming night. He wanted so badly to explore beyond PlumClan's borders but... would he really ever have the courage to leave his Clan behind to follow that dream?
Even if he swore to himself that he'd return one day... he couldn't promise that. Once he left PlumClan's territory, he was outside of StarClan's paws. Anything could happen. He could die the first day he left PlumClan's border, or fall ill. He could be taken by twolegs.
Worse, what if, while he was away, PlumClan needed him and he wasn't there? What if his Clan was destroyed and he could have helped turn the tide?
Without the sun, the breeze turned suddenly cold. Fogshard shivered, but stubbornly remained on the peak of the roof, squinting to peer further into the horizon. Yes, now that it was darker, he was certain the glow on the western horizon came from the city.
Perhaps... perhaps a cat would come by that has stories of the city. Could he be content with stories? Or would tales of a wandering loner's adventures pull his heart to follow in their pawsteps? Maybe... maybe StarClan would give him a sign, when the time was right. Fogshard could live with that, putting the choice in StarClan's paws.
Another gust of wind blew and he listened, letting the chill encourage him down from his perch and back into PlumClan's cozy camp, warmed with the breaths of his Clanmates. He let the familiar scent and feeling of safety envelop him.
For now, this is where he belonged. ★ none I love this lil man ★

Rindlestripe
Misses the warmth Shinepaw brought into their life Herb Gathering with Amberdapple and Quickshade A melancholic new-leaf began as PlumClan gathered in respectful silence for the vigil of Shinepaw. Four figures hunched over the limp apprentice's nest, huddling together for warmth and comfort. Rindlestripe just felt numb. No matter how much their kittens nestled in their tabby fur, or how their clanmates exchanged sympathetic stares, it didn't shake the fact that Rindlestripe had given Shinepaw yellowcough. They rasped their tongue against their son’s deathly cold body, though he would never respond again.
The Gathering that moon was especially rough. The masked warrior wasn’t able to look a single BurdockClan cat in the eye when Shinepaw’s name was announced for the last time. Rindlestripe swore they heard Doveflurry’s distraught yowl among the crowd. Their ears flattened as murmurs of sadness rippled for the apprentice. Shinepaw never had a chance to truly see what new-leaf had to bring, or experience life as an apprentice for that matter. Fogshard had so much to teach him.
Why would StarClan take Shinepaw so soon?
Rindlestripe lingered on that question for days. Even now, when they were assigned to herb gathering, the masked tabby could not comprehend a solid answer. For the first time, the warrior was grateful for scouting alongside healers. Grief would cloud their judgment doing anything else.
A fresh layer of mud caked the tabby’s paws as Rindlestripe padded along the lush greenery. It was refreshing to see the variety of plants that budded with the season’s change. Rindlestripe stood patiently by the stream’s bank, waiting for Amberdapple or Quickhade’s confirmation on which leaves to carry. tags:stormshade1 ooc: (I'll have Daisypaw's patrol up later tonight)

Daisypaw
Hunting patrol with Willowmouse, Duskfeather, and Hawkpaw Daisypaw should've been thrilled to be on a patrol with her brother and the PlumClan deputy, but Shinepaw’s passing left too much of a burden on her spirits. It was noticeable that she wasn't as talkative or nosy this session, but the young apprentice was determined to make a decent impression. She could honor her brother's memory by doing her duties and patrols. Things Shinepaw sadly wouldn't have a chance to do in life.
Speaking of making an impression, Daisypaw glanced towards Willowmouse. Being in the nursery with Fawnstar had made her eager to learn more about the prickly she-cat who had been her mentor. Now she was being taught by the wisest, most impressive warrior in the clan! And Daisypaw was very easily impressed. Last moon she hardly knew what pigs were. Imagine all the knowledge and abilities she would learn with Willowmouse by her side!
“Well done, Hawkpaw!,” she smiled as her fellow littermate caught a mouse, holding her tail up high. Willowmouse's stern comment caused Daisypaw to shrink back, now self-conscious about the aforementioned tail. She shifted her paws uneasily on the slippery ground. Crouching for this long felt uncomfortable if you weren't actually catching anything. As she listened to Duskfeather's advice, Daisypaw only grew more frusturated.
How can I use the wind to catch my prey? All I smell is cold.
Instead, the speckled apprentice’s sight was focused on the branches above, and she squeaked as a clump of melting snow plopped on the ground. ”Should I be concerned about that?”, she whispered nervously. Was there going to be another snowstorm? StarClan, I thought leafbare was already over! tags: jaybun! chocolatemilk7 Hawkheart ooc: (Working on formatting and colors soon! I think a nice pale pink would work for Daisypaw)

Fawnstar »
After moons of weak limbs and burning skin, of restless nights and painful days, Fawnstar had finally recovered. Her body had recovered all the blood that had been lost during her complicated kitting and the infection that had poisoned her body had finally released its grasp upon her. After moons of not feeling like herself, of not feeling like a leader or a mother, the tortoiseshell once again felt as if she was the leader her Clan needed and the mother her kits deserved.
Watching as her litter played about, Fawnstar couldn't help but laugh and twitch her whiskers upon seeing Auburnkit speeding around in the nursery, his tiny kit paws picking up strands of moss and flinging it about every which way. "Keep this up and I'll rename you to Swiftkit," the leader teased gently as Auburnkit passed close enough that Fawnstar could feel the breeze her son was generating. As she continued watching, she had to wonder if she had been like that as a kit, so swift-footed and full of boundless energy. Her father surely had his paws full between her and Amberdapple. She sighed fondly. If only her father were still with them in PlumClan. He would have loved to watch his grandkits grow up and become mighty members of PlumClan.
As if thinking about her father signaled for another cat in her family to appear, Fawnstar was surprised to look up and find that Amberdapple had entered the nursery. Her sister had been checking in on her frequently between the blood loss and the infection, but with both conditions gone, Fawnstar had assumed she would see less of her littermate. It appeared she had assumed wrong.
Purring she pushed herself up onto her paws, once again amazed to feel sturdy rather than weak. "Good morning," she purred, padding over to her littermate and greeting her, brushing her cheek against Amberdapple's. "What brings you into the nursery?" She wondered if her littermate was simply checking in on Fawnstar's newly restored health while she also wondered if perhaps her sister just wanted to spend some time with her littermate.

Hawkpaw being concerned over daisypaw
Hawkpaw was in tha clearing after the training with duskfeather and watched daisypaw sit down close to him. I think diasypaws upset about training a couple days ago. Hawkpaw thought remembering his littermates sad look when Willowmouse was stern and didnt have her hunt anything. I should go cheer her up! He walked over and sat down next to her and said- "Hey are you okay?"

Hatchpaw Hatchpaw watched from afar as Havenkit quivered in his sleep. The little kit had survived the hawk attack, but the wounds had cut deep, and he had been taken to the medicine den. Everyone had praised Hatchpaw when he’d saved Havenkit, but the effect had worn off him by now. What if Havenkit gets an infection and dies, and it was all for nothing? He thought nervously, before putting the thought out of mind. “He won’t disappear if you stop staring at him, you know.” Quickshade snapped at him. “Come on now, get out of my way. Don’t you have anything better to do?” Stung, Hatchpaw backed off. Shouldn’t he have a right to visit Havenkit? He went to the warriors den to find his mentor instead. Lilacshade had been injured for the past two moons from a dog bite, even though she was made Hatchpaw’s mentor. He’d never gotten the chance to talk to her much, she seemed unapproachable to him. But then, aren’t you the same? Lilacshade greeted him with a kurt nod as he poked his head into the warrior’s den. “About time I took you out to hunt, isn't it?” She meowed. Hatchpaw nodded back, following her out of camp. She seemed like a ‘no-nonsense’ sort of cat. “Today, I’ll teach you how to stalk birds. I expect you to come back to camp today with something winged.” Hatchpaw made only a small “mhm” in response. Try as he might, Hatchpaw couldn’t manage to catch anything at all. It had been what seemed like hours, and he’d failed to catch more robins and sparrows than he could count. He was past getting frustrated, he was demoralised. And it looked like Lilacshade was no different. He almost wished she would yell at him for being so useless, but everytime he failed, she sighed and meowed “That’s okay, Hatchpaw. Let’s try another one.” each time in a more and more disappointed voice. As he failed to catch yet another robin, Hatchpaw melted to the ground, hanging his head, barely able to hear Lilacshade’s familiar refrain. “I can’t do it!” He meowed suddenly. “I just want to go back now, I know I’m a failure at hunting, you don’t have to rub it in!” Lilacshade flinched as though she’d been hit. “Hatchpaw, that’s ridiculous. You’re hardly a failure. Maybe I’ve not been training you right… I don’t know how to explain how it’s supposed to be done, or anything… I should have probably just let Rindlestripe mentor you permanently instead…” Hatchpaw shook his head. “No, you aren’t a bad mentor!” he insisted. “You’ve been really patient…” This seemed to make Lilacshade feel better. “Still, I could have given you better instructions. It’s not your fault you’re having a tough time.” she added. They sat there for a while, just talking. Hatchpaw suddenly got a sense he knew Lilacshade better. She wasn’t so cold after all, she was just as unsure of herself as he was! He spoke up again. “Lilacshade… um… Do you want me to try again?” He mewed, not really wanting to. “No. That’s enough for today. Let’s go back to camp now, Hatchpaw.” Lilacshade meowed in response, a small smile on her face. Hatchpaw may not have caught a robin, but at least something productive happened on this patrol. OOC: (Lilacshade is Clementinescreech, and is now being written by myself as well. I will not be writing an update for her this turn, as she is featuring prominently here.)

Forestkit .*❁ ________________________________________________________________________________________________MOON 9 * Whines that she's hungry * Enjoys Fogshard's company As Forestkit sat next to Fogshard during Shinepaw's vigil, she appreciated the tom's company as she mentally worked through the loss of her clanmate. Foreskit didn't understand, Shinepaw was gone? It seemed like only a few sunrises ago that they had been sharing the nursery and playing together, despite their age difference. Yellowcough must be a nasty thing for a young cat to catch. Surely Forestkit was strong enough to survive it? Or she could become strong enough... if she just worked at it.
Foreskit's belly rumbled. Perhaps she could survive illness if she was bigger? Foreskit examined herself, poking at her tummy and looking at her small paws. She was a small kit, and some food would do her good! She opened her mouth and wailed, "I need to eat! I'm hungry! And if I don't eat I'm going to get sick and die too!" The small kit ran away in a panic, tucking back into the nursery as quickly as possible.❁ * . * ❁ * .MOON 10 * Is playing with a stick * Thinks Fogshard was nice to her today Lying on her back in the nursery, Foreskit enjoyed the company of her mother and thought about Fogshard. She had seen him early this morning as she had gone to make dirt and he had been kind to her, despite the fact that she was prowling around on her own in the wee hours of the morning. He seemed to be a nice and trustworthy clan-mate, and Forestkit really appreciated the few interactions she'd had with him. They both seemed to be the curious thoughtful type...
Forestkit's fur spiked as Auburnkit flew about the nursery. She was about to get trampled! The she-kit shook out her fur and stood up, running wasn't her thing. Climbing was! Foreskit eyed the ivy covered walls of the nursery and then scrabbled at their tendrils, attempting to heave herself up the vines to show off how strong she had become since Shinepaw's passing. A few grunts in, she heard a loud snap and hit the ground with a thump. Forestkit bristled and looked at the stick that had been her downfall and now lay on the nursery floor. The stupid thing had snapped! What a worthless foothold! Foreskit swatted the stick and it skittered out of the nursery. She chased after it, blindly careening out of the nursery.________________________________________________________________________________________________ Brownie

Duskfeather- Training with Hawkpaw/Is feeling a bit ill It had taken a while, but all the snow had finally melted. The late thaw wasn’t too much of an inconvenience, and now, PlumClan was finally free from the clutches of leaf bare. Duskfeather was still feeling a bit sick; a slight cough every now and then and a sore throat, but nothing to worry about. He’d gone through worse, this leaf fall he got white cough. Now he had an apprentice he had to train. Hawkpaw was already proving himself as capable, so Duskfeather decided to take him on a more casual patrol. Most mentors would have taken their apprentices to the two leg farm by now, but Duskfeather, for whatever reason, hadn’t. Duskfeather lead his apprentice south, towards the farmhouse. As per usual, the place was infested with two legs. Duskfeather had to be careful and keep Hawkpaw at a safe distance away from them. “This is the farm. Two legs keep and grow many types of animals here.” He looked over to the geese being kept there. “That bird over there is a goose.” The bird was even bigger than most cats, and while it would certainly be a catch for the ages, Duskfeather knew it was off limits. ”Do note that they are not for hunting. On top of the fact that the two legs wouldn’t appreciate it, they are a force to be reckoned with, and could definitely harm a cat”. Duskfeather remembered of his time as an apprentice. He was confident and thought he was the best hunter and fighter in the clan. In order to prove his point, he snuck out to try and hunt one of the geese. Let’s just say he stayed a good while in the medicine den after that… Still, it was an important lesson that humbled him in his youth. I hope Hawkpaw won’t have to learn this the hard way too.Tagging Hawkheart

Golddusk-Is basking in the sunlight/Thanks Leopardcry for giving him a message before going on patrol It was a warm, sunny day in camp. Golddusk lies outside the warrior’s den, feeling the sun on his fur. However, he knows that in a few moments he shall be going on a hunting patrol with Duststep soon. He basked in the sun for a little while longer before reluctantly getting up from his spot, stretching and yawning. As much as he would like to stay in camp on such a warm and sunny day, he knew that the clan depended on warriors like him and Duststep to bring back prey for the fresh kill pile. He walked toward the camp entrance, ready to go out on patrol. On the way to the entrance, he made sure to thank Leopardcry for giving him a message earlier in the day. Golddusk-Hunting patrol with Duststep Golddusk walked with Duststep through the orchard, his ears and eyes alert for any signs of prey. He sniffed the ground, but had not yet found any traces of prey. He listened carefully and heard a flutter of wings off to his right. He looked in the direction where the sounds are coming from. There. A magpie a short distance away from them was pecking at something on the ground, currently oblivious to the presence of the two warriors.
