Hatchhusk with Amberdapple and Jamilah Hatchhusk lay next to Leopardcry, listening to her recount her day to him. It was a time of less work for a medicine cat, so he was making the most of it, lazing about in the grass of PlumClan’s camp with his beloved mate. Even as Leopardcry broke away to go on another hunting patrol, Hatchhusk still couldn’t stop purring. It may have been true that he’d grown up since he asked her to be his mate for the first time, but there was still a giddy, kit-like feeling in his stomach whenever he was around Leopardcry. He sighed softly, watching her go.
Hatchhusk had agreed to patrol with the other two medicine cats, Jamilah and Amberdapple. After all, it had been a while since they had done it all together. But as herb gathering was quieting down for greenleaf, they didn’t need extra warriors this time. When they set out, though, a heavy grey cloud descended over them. It smelled like rain, and everyone knew it. Still, they kept on. By the time they were at the herb garden where they were picking today, a warm rain had begun to fall, and soon enough, they were drenched.
Working quickly, the medicine cats took all the herbs they needed as the rain poured down on them, the sky going deep grey. At least it's warm rain… There’s a sign of greenleaf. Hatchhusk thought hopefully, his fur plastered to his body and his whiskers weighed with drops of water as they dripped. If it were any colder, Hatchhusk would be worried about catching cold. But it would only be uncomfortable for a while after they returned.
When the others left, Hatchhusk scampered after them, barely noticing their departure. Diving under the fence, he was ready to follow them when his leg caught on something beneath the fence, getting wedged in. A twinge of panic made his fur rise. “W-Wait! I’m- rrgh- stuck!” He mewled, hoping Amberdapple and Jamilah. Cursing his long limbs, Hatchhusk pushed back and then jerked forwards, freeing himself. He looked at his white belly fur, which had now become so caked with mud and dirt that it looked like the fur on his back. Still, he’d returned the herbs unscathed, and so it was a successful hunt after all.

Golddusk-shared another cat’s nightmare and helped comfort them through it
Golddusk woke up to find himself in a place he could barely recognize as the orchard in Plumclan’s territory. It was dark in this dream, the only light coming from the full moon shining high in the sky. Golddusk noticed how the trees aren't blooming and full of flowers like he was expecting. Instead, they were bare as if winter had arrived earlier than it should. The branches are shaped in ways that seemed unnatural to Golddusk, looking more like claws than branches. Feeling a sense of dread, Golddusk stood up and looked around. He could sense the presence of another cat in this dream, picking up on their fear. He walked forward, trying to see which cat this dream belonged to.
As he walked forward, he noticed that the air around him was starting to grow thick with fog. In the distance, he could hear the sounds of dogs howling. Thorn bushes that weren’t in his sight before suddenly appeared out of the fog, scratching at his pelt before he had a chance to react. He picked up the pace, wanting to find the cat faster before the fog grew too thick for him to see any further. He moved around the thorn bushes carefully as he searched for his clanmate.
Finally, ahead of him, he sees the familiar pelt of one of his clanmates. He approached them and asked them if they were okay. He could see the fear on his clanmate’s face as they stood alone in this nightmare. The fog had grown thick by now, obscuring view. He stood by his clanmate’s side, trying to comfort them through this nightmare and promising to help them with whatever comes their way. The both of them watched as strange shapes resembling some forms of creatures began to appear in the fog. The scent he smelled from them was confusing, sometimes smelling like a dog but other times smelling a like a fox or a badger. It currently doesn’t help that occasionally they would hear a growl or a snarl from these creatures.
Golddusk stayed with his clanmate the entire time, helping them to avoid the creatures in the fog. The two of them were able to avoid the creatures, carefully dodging them until the fog fades and the creatures disappear along with it. Eventually, the nightmare too had faded away and leading to the two cats waking up. Golddusk woke up suddenly, his heart beating rapidly in his chest. The clanmate in his dream also woke up roughly at the same time as him, lifting their heads away from their paws. Golddusk relaxed upon seeing the morning sun outside the warrior’s den and hearing the twittering of birds.

Golddusk-recovers from stomachache, patrol with Weedpaw
Two days later, Golddusk emerged from the den, happy to have recovered from his stomachache. He hoped he wouldn’t have to experience another one anytime soon. He remembered something really important. Recently, there had been some calves that had just been born at the farm! Unable to contain his excitement, he rushed over to Weedpaw “Come with me, there’s sometime you need to see!” he told Weedpaw. Feeling as eager as a kitten, he rushes over to the clan entrance as his very confused apprentice followed closely behind him. The two of them rushed to the farm as quickly as they possibly could. “You see them?” Golddusk asked his apprentice, pointing with his tail towards the general direction of the calves. Weedpaw nodded, looking curiously at the awkward critters. Some are standing closely to their mothers while others are lying down on the ground, asleep. “These are calves and one day they will grow up to be cows like the ones we see out in the pasture.” Golddusk explained to his apprentice.

Forestfreckle .*❁ ________________________________________________________________________________________________* Compliments Bumblecrest
Forestfreckle had been keeping to herself over the past moon, slowly recovering from her own embarrassment. She had been acting like a fool while recovering from greencough, and the thought of everything that she had done over the past few weeks had been haunting her. But today would be different. Forestfreckle vowed that she would come back out of her shell.
After a morning spent thinking, she ran into Bumblecrest. She hadn't interacted with him much before, but she had watched his battle with Auburncreek during the tournament last moon. Auburncreek had done much better than herself, but the she-cat was avoiding him as much as Forestfreckle had been avoiding the clan. Perhaps she thought he was embarrassed to lose too? Forestfreckle frowned. He had no need to be embarrassed. It was a fair fight. Either way, Forestfreckle figured a good compliment might make up for her sister's cold shoulder.
"Hello Bumblecrest! I just wanted to say, I've been thinking a lot about the tournament lately, and I think you had some really cool moves going up against Auburncreek. It was a good battle and I enjoyed watching!" Forestfreckle smiled, her green eyes shimmering. Perhaps she could relate with Bumblecrest a little.

Duststep Border patrol with Fawnstar and Kiteprickle
The scent of petrichor hung thick in the air. It hadn't been raining ten minutes ago; Duststep wondered if it would still be raining in another ten. She didn't mind, though, and found the scent of rain quite nice, even if it did make demarcating Plumclan's borders by scent a bit more difficult. ”Duststep, Kiteprickle, be alert. We have a badger nearby," Fawnstar called from beside her; she let her mouth hang ajar and closed her eyes to focus better on the mix of scents around her, and sure enough, under the rain and dirt, there it was. A badger. The word almost made her blood ran cold. She'd been lucky enough to avoid any encounters with one, but had heard more than enough storied about them maiming and disfiguring other cats that she didn't want to take a chance. Glancing at her two patrolmates and the worried expressions on their faces, she could tell they felt the same. Two patrolmates... she furrowed her brow. Three cats was not enough to take on a badger. "We can't take it on with just the three of us," Duststep reasoned aloud. "Let's follow the scent to its sett, then we can come back later with more warriors and drive it out." Fawnstar nodded in response, and Duststep smiled to herself as she trailed behind the bengal molly; it was nice to know that Plumclan's leader thought her ideas was a good one. Following the scent, the patrol came across the sett quickly. It was easy to spot, with the telltale signs of a badger; flattened grass near the tunnel entrance, surrounded by piles of animal bones and scat. Duststep grimaced to herself as she almost stepped in a pile of it. How this creature could stomach passing by its dirtplace every time it entered its den, she couldn't even begin to understand. ”We’ll head back to camp now that we know for sure a badger is here," she heard Fawnstar's voice chime from beside her. "If we’re chasing off this badger then we need more warriors at our side.” Duststep couldn't agree more. A rainy afternoon spent fighting a badger on its home turf with only three cats sounded like the worst time imaginable. She would be more than glad to help chase it off once a better patrol was assembled, however; the sooner the beast was driven out of Plumclan's territory, the lower the chances were of one of the apprentices or young warriors coming across it and getting injured were. Careful of where she stepped, the grey molly quickly bounded after her leader back in the direction of the camp.
Tagging: Feathertalon (Fawnstar) and ivypool4life (Kiteprickle) | OOC: I originally wrote like four paragraphs in response to the kittypet pip but I got the "you may not respond to this thread" error again that deleted all of it and I don't want to rewrite it :( Tansypaw Hunting patrol with Bristlefur and Beechfawn | Saw Beechfawn being rude | Wonders what being a kittypet is like
Tansypaw walked alongside Bristlefur, shooting intermittent accusatory glances at Beechfawn on his mentor's other side. He had overheard the grey tom rudely bossing around some other cats back at the camp before they had left. He wanted Beechfawn to know he'd overheard him, to feel bad. That's no way to treat your clanmates! he thought, scowling disapprovingly at the warrior. His thoughts were interrupted as he overheard howling coming from the edge of the cornfield, and he sprinted in the direction of the noise's origin.
As he arrived at the chicken coop near the twoleg house, he stumbled back when the large dog-like creature hunched over the coop whipped around to stare at him with hungry eyes. It stood in front of a hole in the chicken wire it had presumable torn through, and in its sharply fanged jaws hung a bloodied and limp chicken. Before Tansypaw could do anything, it turned away from him again to sprint off into the distance, and Bristlefur and Beechfawn thundered after it. He hurried after it as fast as his paws could take him, but his smaller stature meant that the two larger warriors easily outran him. Resigned to not being able to catch up to him, he slowed down, out of breath, and glanced back behind him at the twoleg house.
Dim light emanated from the window facing him, and there in the windowsill he could barely see the outline of another cat. The flickering lights almost formed a halo around the silhouetted figure against the dark, dusky fog surrounding the house. A kittypet. Twolegs he had seen before, but kittypets were new. His thoughts returned to his father, the one he had never met and that Jamilah never seemed to want to talk about; had he been a kittypet? Craning his neck, Tansypaw strained to try and see the colour of the kittypet's pelt, trying to figure out if it was the same orange as his own, but he couldn't quite make it out against the dim light. If he was a kittypet, and I stayed with him, would I be inside that house right now? Would I mind it? Free food and safe shelter seemed like a nice deal, but at the cost of his freedom, of being able to run as far and as fast as he could, and of the community Plumclan provided him, it didn't seem worth it. Still, he had to wonder...
The kittypet leapt out of frame, and he turned back around just in time to see Bristlefur and Beechfawn returning from the direction the wolf had gone, no chicken in tow. Disappointing. "What was that thing? It seemed too small to be a wolf but too wild to be a dog. Didja get to fight it or did it run off with the chicken? You look fine, so I guess it got away. Hey, while we're here, d'you think we could get away with grabbing some other chickens from the coop since that thing tore it open?" he chattered to his mentor, running up to the two cats at they approached.

Dogstripe She/her Warrior Ceremony
Dogstripe! Her clanmates roared around her, making her puff her chest. Finally a warrior! She shot her sibling a look, just cause he was a warrior a moon before doesn't mean she can't be a better one now! Besides she trusts Wildclove, as her gaze sweeps over to him, one extra moon of training with her mentor isn't the worst thing in the world- she enjoyed it! Dogstripe! She thought the name suited her, and her marbled coat, as she settled down for her vigil. She was so giddy the night before she couldn't sleep- suppressing yawns. She shook it off, valiantly sitting still. She couldn't mess this up! —
Her first patrol as a warrior! She padded along with Crunchytail and Storkleg. Along the rushing creek that separated Burdockclan from them. She was slightly nervous, rumours from the gathering about some unfair border disputes had reached her ears. The cats stopped, ears pricking towards the river- Kits! Dogstripe could hear their small squeaks “That's close to the river” She murmured “We can't go over there, did you hear what they did to that Yewclan warrior?” Dogstripe was appalled at their bordermates behaviour- if Burdockclan didn't want help then Plumclan wouldn't bother. Though, She sends up prayers to Starclan to protect those kits, its not their fault Burdockclan doesnt keep a close enough eye on them OOC: IM SORRY i dont have enough time for Wild hes fine in the bg

Crunchytail 92 Moons - Childish, Keen Eye - Molly, She/Her Status: Healthy - Thoughts: Is ignoring gossip about her past - - - -
>> Major Event: Crunchytail's greencough has been cured!
With a long, claw curling stretch, Crunchytail made her way towards the entrance of the medicine cat den... Or was it the exit? Either way, she was headed for it and she was not looking back. Not now, not ever. She peered her head from the entrance way, her curious green eyes keen to take in everything she saw.
Before today the patched she-cat genuinely didn't think the sight of the camp these cats called home - and technically her home now too - could actually be a relief to her. Sure enough though, everything that had happened recently had pretty promptly proven her wrong on that front. Even as she looked around now, everything felt different. Not a great deal but enough for her to feel the warm feeling of gratitude swell in her chest.
In spite of the fact they were cooped up in this cobbled old mossy place, the air she could finally take in through her nose almost felt crisper. The cats padding to and fro around the camp almost felt welcoming to her. The pattering of the scattered rain on the roof above had went from an active annoyance to almost sounding serene at this moment in time. Almost being the key word throughout it all.
After what had felt like seasons of not being able to even breathe properly without coughing up something unplesant let alone do much of anything else, she was finally getting over her bout of... what was it the cats had called it? Greencough?
Whatever it was called, it was the worst thing she'd ever been through. Good riddance. Her eyes made a quick sweep around the camp. She'd met a handful of cats and heard odd names here and there but truth be told? She couldn't remember many of them herself. She knew of Cloverfur, Wildclove, Daisytuft and Dogpaw... Dogswipe? Dogstripe now, apparently. The cats who had found her by the border. So she decided to see if she could spot at least one of them to strike up something resembling a conversation with. She had to start somewhere if she was going to be staying here.
In her search, her eyes landed on a couple of cats. Nobody she knew but definitely some who caught her interest.
A longhaired, golden-furred tom was currently sat by the pile of freshkill, looking with dejected eyes at a robin he'd taken from the top. It still had a lot of it's feathers left in tact and she didn't envy the cat who would have to pluck them out in order to eat it. Which going off of the pitiful look on his face? Had to be him. The golden fur... Was that Golddusk?
Before she could continue that thought further, it looked as though another cat had spotted his unspoken struggles; A silvery tabby she-cat. Duststep...? Honestly she couldn't with these cats and their weird names.
The striped molly walked over, took one look at him, then one look back at his meal. With very little hesitation and even less argument from him, she wordlessly took the bird from between his paws and began to pluck the feathers from it with a precision that almost seemed practiced.
Huh.
If Crunchytail hadn't known any better, she would have thought this exact interaction had happened before between these two. Perhaps Duststep was the helpful sort... Maybe it'd be worth approaching her first, if she had to try and hit it off with any of the cats here.
"Hey!" She mewed a little too loudly, bounding over towards the two with a newfound spring in her step. "What'cha doing with that?"

[ 🐶 OOC: First post, whoop whoop! I hope that all this is okay and I'm sorry that this only got done really last minute. The past fews days have been busier than I expected them to be. I was hoping to try and write the patrol with Dogstripe and Storkleg as well but I didn't end up having the time; I'm sorry about that 💀]

Duststep Helping Golddusk pluck the feathers off his prey
Duststep didn't look up from the robin for a good moment, too focused on plucking the feathers off Golddusk's robin for him. It was only when she saw white paws in her peripheral vision, bounding towards her, that she realized the loud voice had been directed at her and paused to look up at the white-and-fawn patched molly. Crunchytail, wasn't it? Duststep hadn't interacted much with the newcomer since she'd joined; she hadn't found much reason to visit the medicine den to which she was confined. But she seemed nice. "Oh, just plucking the feathers out of this robin to make it easier to eat... Golddusk always has trouble with it but I seem to have a hidden talent for it, so I usually help him," she replied, holding up the half-plucked bird to show Crunchytail. "Why do you ask?"
Her eyes were drawn to the green bow around the other cat's neck; it was quite pretty, and reminded her a bit of the collars she'd seen on other cats like Rindlestripe and Wildclove. Probably twoleg in origin, she guessed. Was she a kittypet before she joined Plumclan? She'd overheard her clanmates gossiping about Crunchytail's origins, trading theories about her having stayed with the twolegs who ran the orchard for moons before coming here or being part of the barn cat group across the road. But Duststep found their guesses farfetched, and thought it far more likely that she was just a loner that had tired of the lifestyle. The other cats in Plumclan with twoleg collars didn't get theirs from having been kittypets, after all. She wanted to ask, but figured Crunchytail was probably tired of fielding questions about it from every cat the talked to. Realizing she had been staring at the bow for a bit too long, she turned to Golddusk with a sidelong glance to signal to him that they would talk about what they thought of Crunchytail and her origins later, when she wasn't in front of them, before looking at the prey pile and the unplucked crow sitting on the top of it. "I'm glad you're feeling better, but if you're still feeling unwell and wanted me to pluck that crow for you I don't mind," she offered with a smile before returning to plucking the feathers off Golddusk's robin.

Fawnstar »
bounty of mice with beechfawn - sharptail & storkleg - boragesky envious of blizzardwing's prey
Fawnstar needed to get out of camp. She had noticed herself getting antsy - in more accurate terms, crabby - when a stirring of jealousy emerged from the pits of her stomach, annoyance flashing over her when she had watched Blizzardwing bite into the juicy flesh of a blue jay this morning before patrols had been established. She knew herself well enough to understand that she was not the jealous type, and getting jealous over a Clanmate eating prey when there was plenty of prey to go around was not a rational thought. Fawnstar had not been cooped up within her camp, either, but she knew when she needed to get out and stretch her legs.
Fortunately, the opportunity arose not long after she had felt those stirrings of envy.
Beechfawn, her most recent former apprentice, had come to her with a report of a bounty of mice inside the abandoned shed. The leader ruminated on this announcement, wondering privately if trying their luck in the shed would be worth it. While the shed had never wronged them thus far, Fawnstar knew that old buildings could be faulty, dangerous even. Warriors had been lost to fallen debris and crumbling structures before, but those tragedies had happened seasons ago. Well before most of her current warriors had even been born. The tortoiseshell leader shook these thoughts free from her mind. She had no reason to worry over the foundation of the shed. Her stomach turned, reminding her of the envy she felt while watching Blizzardwing with the jay earlier. Greenleaf was upon them. Prey was bountiful. Her cats were meant to be plump in this season, and she was going to make that a reality. Alongside Beechfawn the leader gathered Storkleg, inviting the other molly to join them. Fawnstar had not been able to spend much time with the former outsider, and as Clan leader she wanted to get to know her Clanmates as well as she could.
Even before they had fully made it to the shed the scent of mice flooded over Fawnstar. She glanced toward Beechfawn, both proud and impressed. No warrior would pass up such a wealthy hunting ground, but this felt almost too good to be true. This felt as if StarClan had gifted them with the chance to fill the entire Clan’s belly.
StarClan had truly gifted them by the time night settled over the territory. All three had their jaws filled to the brim with mice, all plump and still warm. Placing the last mouse she had caught down, Fawnstar analyzed the pile of rodents they had collected, whiskers curling. ”Let’s take back what we can now, but we’ll need more warriors to help carry everything back. Amazing work on your part, Beechfawn! Had you not noticed this we may have never caught so much prey at one time! You did amazing as well, Storkleg, I don’t think those mice ever saw you coming,” she praised, filled to the brim with pride and joy for her Clanmates, for Beechfawn and Storkleg.
Gathering what mice she could, Fawnstar turned to head back to camp with the first round of prey. Already she had decided that before returning to collect the rest she would give a mouse or two to Auburncreek. Despite it being greenleaf her poor ambitious daughter had contracted whitecough. She was worried, as any mother would be, but Auburncreek was a fighter. A stubborn one at that; they often butted heads - mostly over the whole apprentice ordeal - but Auburncreek was still her daughter, and as her mother, Fawnstar would provide for her for as long as she still drew in breath.

Duststep Training patrol with Stargazer and Weedgorse | Wonders what patrols Marshfur is on
Humming merrily, Duststep bounded through the orchard alongside her clanmates. It was such a relief not having any pressing matters that needed to be attended to, and she was glad to be able to enjoy the nice weather for once. Stargazer had chosen the perfect day to invite her and newly-named warrior Weedgorse out to explore; she had wanted to bring Marshfur with them as well, figuring the other molly would be exactly the type to appreciate the weather today, but couldn't find her anywhere before she left. I guess she must be on a patrol, she remembered thinking. I should ask Duskfeather what patrols she's on in the next couple days, then if there's another nice day like this again soon I can invite her. Duststep still meant to ask when she got back, of course, but for the time being figured she ought to live in the moment. Maybe she would ask Blazetumble, too; they'd gotten interrupted the last time they were talking, and she wanted him to finish telling her about the war gossip he'd mentioned. Speaking of- "Have you two heard about the fight that happened earlier this moon between Yewclan and Burdockclan?" she said, turning to look at Stargazer beside her. "I swear, Burdockclan is always getting into petty wars over nothing. Apparently they let that rogue who poisoned a bunch of Yewclan's cats join their ranks, can you believe it? Honestly, they'll do anything to give themselves an edge in battle. I guess their warriors must be pretty bad if they'll accept his help," she snorted. Tagging: Dew (Stargazer) Tansypaw Assessment patrol with Orangepaw and Shimmerpaw
Tansypaw stalked along the ruined wall, looking frantically around for prey. He was running out of time and hadn't caught anything yet. He'd thought his mock assessment with Feathersong had prepared him well, but the pressure was nothing compared to the real thing. I have to pass this assessment; there's no way I let stupid smug Weedgorse get the satisfaction of graduating two whole moons ahead of me! He stopped in his tracks when he noticed a mouse sniffing at the ground right in front of him, and was about to pounce when he noticed what it held in its paws. His heart sunk when he recognized the red berry's gleam. Deathberries. Tansypaw looked up; indeed, the shrubs growing along the wall were ripe with berries that shone red like blood. It's not safe to hunt here. Furrowing his brow, he recalled what Bristlefur had told him about the berries; if a cat ate a prey animal who had previously consumed deathberries, the berries lingering in the prey's system could poison the cat as well. He would have to find somewhere else to hunt.
With a jolt, he remembered about Orangepaw and Shimmerpaw, out on their assessments in the same area. What if they didn't see the berries? What if they brought a poisoned piece of prey back to camp and it killed whoever ate it? What if Orangepaw eats it and it kills him? Tansypaw felt a sudden chill run down his spine even considering the possibility. His heart racing, he sprinted back in the opposite direction, where he had last seen the other two apprentices. Assessment be damned; he would graduate however many moons later it took if it meant nobody would die. "Orangepaw! Shimmerpaw!" he shouted at the top of his lungs, looking around for the two and hoping they hadn't managed to catch any prey in the area already.Tagging: deg (Orangepaw), boragesky (Shimmerpaw) Is relaxing in camp instead of studying | Lets Willowmouse try a new counselling technique on him and gives her feedback
Curled up in a beam of sunlight near the entrance to Plumclan's camp, Tansypaw shuffled around a bit to get himself comfortable. I should probably be studying for my fighting assessment tomorrow... but that hunting assessment was so stressful, I deserve to relax, he thought to himself with a yawn. As far as breaks went, he figured it was an ideal time; it was a beautiful day to take a nap in the sun, and he couldn't train with Bristlefur right now anyway since she was out on patrol. What am I supposed to do, train on my own? Well, maybe, but... eh, I don't feel like it. Letting his eyelids flutter shut, he was about to drift off into a nap when he was awakened by the sound of Willowmouse calling his name. Blearily, he opened his eyes to find the mediator standing over him, and begrudgingly sat up. After she was done telling him about the new counselling technique she had been working on and asking if she could try it out on him, he nodded in confirmation. "Sure, I can help you. What exactly do you need me to do, then?" he yawned; it didn't sound like too much work, and would hopefully be over soon enough that he could get back to his nap soon.

Auburncreek - Runny noses turns to whitecough - Hatchhusk brings her to the medicine den - Compliments Marshfur’s fighting stance - Thinks she can trust Bumblecrest - Fawnstar visits, bringing a mouse {--} with Hatchhusk, Marshfur & Fawnstar Auburncreek coughed again, ignoring Forestfreckle’s complaints. All she wanted was rest, it wasn’t her fault she couldn’t stop coughing! Her sister, the cat she shared a nest beside, had told her to go visit Hatchhusk. She rolled her eyes, stretching out of her nest. It was earlier than usual for Auburncreek to wake up. She decided she would get a drink of water. Maybe that would settle her throat.
It seemed to have helped a small amount, she wasn’t as loud, but it was still noticeable. She walked back into camp, feeling her breathing becoming more strained. Met by Hatchhusk, she was told to move to the medicine den. After a while of hissing and disagreement, finally Auburncreek agreed. “Only if you stop complaining about it!” If she was in here for a while, maybe Hatchhusk would stop being such a worry-wart and let her go on another patrol.
- - -
Whitecough. Of course it was! She growled to herself, resting her head on her paws. That was it. She couldn’t be in here for any longer. The stinging smell of herbs stained her nostrils, and her head had never been so full of boredom. She slunk out of the medicine den, enjoying the smell of the clearing against the smell of herbs. The sunlight drenched onto her fur, she couldn’t help but purr. How could a cat even dare to be in there all day? She locked eyes with one of the clans newest warriors, Marshfur. One of Leopardcry’s kits. She was brother of Bumblecrest, and after seeing his patrol come back with daydreaming Golddusk, she supposed she could trust the cream furred warrior. Nodding to Marshfur, the molly walked up to her. She let out another rasping cough, hoping the gray molly wouldn’t say anything about it.
“Move your paws out further,” Auburncreek instructed, pushing the mollys paws forward with her tail. She scoffed at the warriors sheathed claws, “You have claws! Use them. When you’re fighting, your enemy won’t hesitate to go for any weakness. You must do the same.” Auburncreek coughed, then smiled when Marshfur found the right position, claws out at the ready. “Well done. Now that, is a warrior I wouldn’t want to face in battle.” She flicked her ears at Marshfur as the warrior walked away. Hearing Hatchhusk’s call, she stepped back into the den. Another bunch of herbs, she presumed.
After eating up the disgusting leaves, she was visited by a cat she didn’t expect. Fawnstar had brought a mouse. Auburncreek blinked at her mother, the two cats didn’t get along much often. Auburncreek took the mouse, before growling at her mother. “I could have gotten one myself,” She scoffed. “I’m not a useless elder, you know.” When she saw her mother’s hurt gaze, she sighed. “Thanks though. You’re the first cat to visit me.” She mewed quietly, before digging into the mouse. Finishing the scraps, she purred at her mother, coughing again. “Did you see Burdockclan or Yewclan on your patrol? I heard both clans are in a war. I would like to see that.” She mewed raspingly, raising an eyebrow at her mother. Atleast a conversation would help her erase her boredom about being in the medicine den.

Leopardcry - Calms herself down by thinking about how Starclan will set things right - Upkeep Patrol - Helps Thorncrawl pick the burrs out of her fur {--} with Duskfeather, Blazetumble & Thorncrawl Leopardcry walked along with her two patrol-mates, the two toms on her left and right. She listened to Duskfeather’s ideas, imagining his plans for the patrol. Leopardcry nodded. “Of course. That’s a great plan. I can spar with Blazetumble first, if you like,” She purred, teasing her son when she raised her eyebrow at him. When they reached the sparring area, Duskfeather showed them some new tricks. Acting defeated on the ground, staying still until your opponent looses their grip. Then using the momentum to easily bounce up to push your opponent away, being able to get good hits in, which could turn the tide of a battle. She nodded at Blazetumble, “You can try on me first, if you like.” When her son agreed, Leopardcry got ready. She flicked her tail at him, waiting for his signal.
She pounced, easily knocking her son to the ground. When he went still, she did as Duskfeather asked, silently letting go of Blazetumble. She felt the amount of strength her son managed to hold when he bounced back. She felt herself easily be knocked over, the momentum her son had gained letting him have the upper paw. She picked herself up, shaking the dust from her fur. The surprise hit her like a slash to the face. She purred at Blazetumble, rubbing her head against his. “That was amazing! I never saw you spar like that before,” She nodded her head to him. “Now come on, you have to let me try that on you.” She meowed happily, staring at her son expectantly.
- - -
She wished a farewell to Hatchhusk, after visiting him. He was still bombarded with the work of a medicine cat, and with so many cats in the den it worried her. Strong warriors, like Auburncreek or Larchspeck stuck in a cramped space. There was only so much her mate could do to heal them. She called over the warrior Thorncrawl, purring at her coat. “Look at you! You’re covered in burdock. Don’t tell me you were rolling around in it,” Leopardcry got her to sit down, and started to pick the burrs out of her fur. “When you were a kit, me and Feathersong had to do this all the time!” She remembered vividly. “You and your siblings, you were always getting my kits into trouble too.” She mewed, picking out another burr. She sighed, looking up at the sky. The thought of cats in the medicine den, and the arrival of whitecough, she silently thought about Starclan. She calmed herself down by knowing they were always watching her and the clan. They had to set things right.

Lilacshade Herb Gathering - Good Spot Lilacshade picked off a flea from her tail, grumbling. The little nuisances had managed to infest the camp, making every cat itch with them. She wasn’t exactly sure what had brought them it, but she knew it would have never happened if she was deputy! She sighed, looking at Duskfeather, who was setting up the patrols for the day. He looked tired… Maybe it’s about time for him to retire. She imagined herself in his place, setting up the patrols for PlumClan. I think I could do it well enough… And I may have the chance, soon enough.
When Amberdapple’s tail touched her shoulder, Lilacshade broke out of her daydreaming, following her. No words were needed, she was more than happy to accompany her mate whatever she was doing. They passed through the trees, bright green from the new warmth of greenleaf. It was a beautiful day for herb gathering, as the sunlight dappled the two cats’ coats, warming their fur. Soon, they had reached the patch of herbs that Amberdapple was looking for, and she sprung on them as if they were a fat rabbit, crashing into the herbs. Lilacshade couldn’t tell what kind they were, but they had a sharp, clean-smelling scent.
Before she had a chance to come forward and pick, a great big butterfly landed on Amberdapple’s tail. It was the perfect opportunity. Lilacshade gave a low purr, a kit-like joy thrumming through her as she got into a hunter’s crouch. The medicine cat seemed oblivious, her head in the herb patch. With a flawless pounce, she landed squarely on top of the medicine cat, tackling her into the bush. The butterfly flew off in a flutter of wings as Amberdapple let out a playful yowl. Lilacshade pinned her to the ground, licking her own pelt bashfully as she giggled. “Sorry, I had to catch that butterfly on your tail, it was too tempting! So... What were you doing again, hmm?” She trilled, playing with Amberdapple’s fur.

Hatchhusk Herb Gathering - Marigold with Blizzardwing and Kiteprickle Hatchhusk itched all over. Fleas had invaded the camp in the last few days, and it seemed they liked him a lot. The little mites were hopping around his fur, sucking his blood dry. Still, he had to get some work done. Combing through the herb stores, he found that they were getting low on marigold. And if that’s not bad enough, YewClan and Burdockclan are at war… If it spreads here, we’ll need more. The young medicine cat sat down. He was sure he’d heard something about needing marigold… but he didn’t remember why they needed it. But it’s best not to challenge visions from StarClan… Maybe we could trade the marigold to YewClan or BurdockClan if we don’t end up needing it… I’m sure they will.
Soon, he’d gathered together two warriors to accompany him, Blizzardwing and Kiteprickle. He tossed a look back to Kiteprickle… They’ve grown so much. I remember when I picked them up as a kitten… Stars, am I getting old?! He shook his head, then sat down and broke into his prepared speech, trying not to scratch at his fleas too obviously. “Alright, Blizzardwing, Kiteprickle. We’ll be collecting marigold today… PlumClan is running low, and it’s in season. And… It’s one of the most essential herbs for healing claw-wounds. If we collect enough, we could leverage that when trading with YewClan and BurdockClan. So, collect as much as you can carry, these could be more valuable for PlumClan than rabbits!”
His little speech seemed to have spurred the other warriors on, because in what seemed like no time at all after they had reached the patch of marigolds, their leaf wraps were full with the orange petals. It took multiple trips to cart all the harvest back. Hatchhusk purred. We’ll have more than enough, now… OOC -- Hatchhusk, who taught you that war profiteering was okay?

Stargazer Day Off - Training Patrol || with Duststep, Weedgorse It had been a about a year now that Stargazer had joined Plumclan with her sisters kits, one dead, two now fully grown. The death of Bugpaw still lingered in her mind, but in the end there wasn't really anything she could do about it. The twolegs had kicked them out of their home and had left them out here to die. It was just a shame one of them had, a cat will a full life ahead of them.
But aside that fact, Stargazer had found her groove. She had a pretty good grasp on the skills of being a warrior, and while she still wasn't top tier amazing at hunting and fighting, she wasn't too shabby. If only Mari were still here. She had thought about Mari in ages, but of course how could one stop thinking about a cat they had loved? I wasn't even there for her last moments.
It seemed that Stargazer needed a break. Every cat needed a break sometimes, even warriors, and so she had invited Duststep and newly named Weedgorse to go out with her. That way they could say they were a patrol, while not actually doing anything. The new warrior had been nervous to accept, but Stargazer convinced him. He had been one of the cats to catch the fleas, as well as just passing his warrior assessment a moon early. He probably needed a break more than Stargazer needed one.
They had walked in the orchard when Duststep initiated a conversation, her grey eyes meeting Stargazer's pale yellow ones as she talked. The war against Burdockclan had been announced at the last gathering of the clans. She had been told of a war with Burdockclan a few seasons back but hadn't been told much of the details. Now Yewclan and Burdockclan were fighting. Will this mean anything for Plumclan? Will Burdockclan attack his too? What about Yewclan? Yewclan had been the clan to care for Mari in her last days, so they had to be good right?
"They announced it at the last gathering right? And we've warred with Burdockclan before as well? How long ago was that?" Her soft voice was loud enough to carry, but intermingled with sweetness that didn't mix with the harshness of the topic being discussed. But still, Stargazer was curious. It seemed no matter how long she had been here, in the clans, there was always something new to learn, something to uncover. It was exciting, so different from her old life. And she loved it. Duststep Training patrol with Stargazer and Weedgorse"I think they did. Our war with them ended, mmh... twelve moons ago, I think?" she replied, tilting her head to the side and looking off into the distance as she tried to recall. " It's not like we ever got into any big battles with them, anyway. Just a couple of injuries to cats out on patrol and disruptions to schedules." I was a little out of it for most of that time anyway, I think... all the deaths back then and none of them were even due to that war. Shaking her head, Duststep tried to get her mind back on track as she looked back at Stargazer. She was surprised at the sweetness in the light brown molly's voice; didn't she remember how stressful that time was? "Oh, you joined Plumclan about halfway through, didn't you? And Weedgorse, you weren't even born yet. Hopefully Plumclan never gets into another war in your lifetime." She looked over towards the attentive young warrior, and subtly veered away from him to not walk so close; she didn't want to say it to his face, but she was worried that she would catch his fleas walking right next to him. How funny it was to think about; the events of that time still seemed fresh in her mind, but here she was patrolling with a warrior who wasn't even alive at the time. It would have made her feel old, if she wasn't pretty sure Stargazer was a good many moons older than her. Again, how was it that she was able to speak about war with such a serene attitude? "Did they not have them at all where you're from, Stargazer? Wars, battles, that sort of thing?"

Forestfreckle, having just had recovered from a nasty cough of her own, was worried. She looked to Auburncreek, concern in her emerald gaze.
"You should go visit Hatchhusk, that cough is starting to sound pretty bad," She meowed. Auburncreek, however, being the stubborn cat that she was, did not go visit Hatchhusk, and instead went for water, trying to remedy the cough on her own. As the bengal she-cat left, Forestfreckle rolled her eyes with a sigh. Perhaps she would go visit Hatchhusk instead. If Auburncreek wouldn't go on her own, Forestfreckle knew Hatchhusk would be the best cat to convince her to get help. The two butted heads enough that there was no way they didn't have a sort of frenemies relationship.
Getting up, Forestfreckle padded to the medicine cat's den. On the way, she grabbed a large squirrel. Larchspeck's bite wound had become infected, and she thought a bit of good prey would cheer him up. Forestfreckle knew how depressing sitting in the medicine cat's den could be. As she stepped in, she greeted the young tom and the rest of the sick residents with a dip of her head. It seemed that at the moment, all of the medicine cat's were out except for Amberdapple. Briefly, Forestfreckle wondered if Amberdapple had ever seen Havenspots in Starclan. She would have to ask the she-cat another time.
"I brought you some food to keep your strength up!" Forestfreckle meowed to Larchspeck, her voice upbeat but hushed, "We can share it if you'd like some company for awhile... although I didn't realize there were so many cats in here at the moment. It's quite the full house!" The multicolored she-cat smiled at Crunchytail. She hadn't talked to her much before. "How are you doing Crunchytail?"

SHIMMERPAW [ Angsty. ] " Legend has it that the moss grows on the north side of the trees " (The Moss by Cosmo Sheldrake)
Shimmerpaw had been staring at Willowmouse's new mediator den for a bit. If only he were a mediator... he then hissed to himself after leaving a small piece of prey nearby the den for her and turned around.
He was then stopped by Blizzardwing who went on a sudden RAMBLE about how there's a lot to see in the world and yada yada, and he hissed. "Dazzling world my flank." he hissed and proceeded to follow Tansypaw and Orangepaw out.
***
It wasn't long before Shimmerpaw saw Orangepaw hovering his paw over the deathberries, in which prey was under there. He wasn't concerned until he realized they were deathberries, and rammed into the apprentice, not saying anything, and trying to prevent him from progressing.
When Tansypaw approached them, Shimmerpaw looked up, pointing to Orangepaw beneath him. "This mouse-brain was trying to eat the deathberries." he explained.

Orangepaw pouted as his attempt to eat the delicious juicy red berries was foiled. He'd thought he could do with a little pick-me-up, a little snack to get his energy levels back up for his assessment but now Shimmerpaw was raining on his parade. "Deathberries? Nah. These are cranberries, don't worry about it." Without hesitation he jumped forwards to try to eat the berries again. tagging 𝚌𝚕𝚘𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚌𝚕𝚞𝚎 boragesky

Golddusk- Patrol with Wildclove and Bumblecrest It was a cloudy afternoon out on patrol. Golddusk walked with the rest of the patrol along the border. Golddusk sniffed the air, looking for signs of threats. So far, Golddusk hadn’t noticed anything out of the ordinary yet. Golddusk then slowly began to think of the nightmare he shared with another cat last moon. He wondered how that cat is doing now. His mind began to also drift off to all of the other strange dreams he had before. As he grew more distracted and less focused on the border patrol, he found himself walking too quickly into a tree. He let out a startled yelp, louder than he had intended as it echoed into the air. He quickly backed away from the tree. He listened to Bumblecrest as he snapped at him to get his head out of the clouds. He felt embarrassed at himself for having gotten distracted so easily like this. It’s not that I didn’t want to focus on the patrol! It’s just… he thought to himself as he listened to the younger warrior telling him how they’re supposed to be on a lookout for threats, not babysittting a warrior. It reminded him of how he used get distracted more often as an apprentice. He thought he had that old bad habit of his under control by now. Didn’t he? @moonkt60633 🎄tansypool🪿

Tansypaw Assessment patrol with Orangepaw and Shimmerpaw
Tansypaw's relief at finding the other two apprentices subsided entirely upon realizing that not only were they standing right next to the deathberries, but Orangepaw was actively trying to eat them. Upon Orangepaw's remark, he shot an exasperated glance to Shimmerpaw. Honest to Starclan, it's like he's trying to get himself sick. At least I don't have to tell them both not to eat it.
When the orange tabby moved towards the berries again, Tansypaw quickly smacked his paw away and moved between him and the shrub, ears pinned back against his head. "They're deathberries. Trust me. They've got that little hole in them, see?" He pawed one berry towards Orangepaw to demonstrate. "That's how you can tell. Besides, aren't we not supposed to eat on hunting patrols? I don't know if it applies to berries but don't risk it on on the assessment. Let's just go hunt somewhere else. We'll fail if the prey we catch gets everyone sick because it ate deathberries, plus I haven't caught anything yet so I think there just isn't much here." He started heading towards a different area of the territory, signalling with his tail for the other two to come with and keeping a close eye on Orangepaw to make sure he didn't try to get at the berries again. Now that Weedgorse is a warrior, do I have to be the responsible one out of the apprentices? Ugh, I hope not... I hated when he tried to lecture me like he knew sooo much better.

PHEASANTDRIFT [ Odd noises. ] " But have you heard the story of the rabbit in the moon? " (The Moss by Cosmo Sheldrake)
Pheasantdrift skipped lightly through the camp grounds, her paws lightly skimming the ground as she went with Bristlefur, whom she lightly greeted and Hawkheart. At that thought, she stopped skipping.
Pineconenibble.
After the whole rejection thing from Pumpkinswipe, Pineconenibble had been entering her depression era. Pheasantdrift wasn't sure how to tell her how the thing about how Pumpkinswipe eventually being her mate was a lie just to reject her, but she couldn't help but feel bad. She wondered what she was doing, and if she was okay.
Fleas flying around she accidentally did some odd flips swatting them down and away.
***
As the patrol progressed, Pheasantdrift heard something out of the corner of her ear, and darted into a bush instantly. When she emerged, a mouse was held in her jaws. "Look! It's a mouse!" she exclaimed, her call muffled by the mouse.

mid summer; hot Clan Events: Fallowtail finds her way back to PlumClan
PlumClan's camp is covered in dry vines, and all it took was a single spark. The building caught fire. Duskfeather, Hatchhusk, Willowmouse, Foggydusk, Auburncreek, Leopardcry, Pumpkinswipe and Fallowtail are trapped inside the burning building and perish.
Marshfur, Bristlefur, and Feathersong are injured by the flames.
The rest of the Clan escapes, but their camp is no longer safe and they're forced to make a temporary camp beside the Wall.
Purryfreckle joins PlumClan. The FlowerClan healer Finchheart offers to spend the rest of the season helping PlumClan recover.

After the camp caught on fire, Marshfur was badly burned, from it, but that wasn’t the only bad thing she lost her best friend, mentor and mum. And other cats, one that she even brought into the clans on her first patrol died but from something else…. Now Marshfur is snuck in the new medicine den not being able to properly say goodbye to the ones who died… Or did she? When the medicine cat was busy Marshfur snuck out and went to the burial spots and prayed to starclan that they will all be okay. Atleast her crush was still alive. Marshfur went back to the medicine den right beside Larchspeck someone that reminded her of her friend Auburncreek, “Larch, do you think starclan hates this clan? So many cats died” Tagging: polarized duck borageskyOcc: I used a song reference in this also this so sad

Hawkheart grieving for Hatchhusk and patrol with Bumblecrest!Hawkheart felt sick. The camp was in ash's many cats were dead, but the thing he could never forget was Hatchhusk. His brother, his only brother died in the flames that almost killed him to. He couldn't get the image of Hatchhusk running into the licks of fire trying to save leopardcry, his calls echoing in Hawkheart's ears. Everything was wrong, The cats were forced into a new temporary camp were the sick and injured were being taken care of. As he sat in a small clearing next to the wall he dropped his head and sighed in grief remembering duskfeather had perished in the flames to, his mentor he thought would be with him for his future was gone. Even Thorncrawl becoming deputy didn't annoy him but it would have if his friends, family, mentor and clanmates hadn't died. Starclan was cruel. that's all there was to it.After sitting there for a bit he walked over to the gathering of warriors for patrol and noticed thorncrawl looking a bit nervous sitting at the front of the group making patrols. As he was assigned a patrol with bumblecrest he flashed a weak smile to thorncrawl and nodded his head in respect. The two cats walked about and Hawkheart didn't even try to make conversation as he steped around trees and bush's. As they neared the flowerclan border he smelled cat and looked up to see a ginger she-cat sitting the wall looking at them with intrest herbs in her mouth. Dapplesong talk's to feathersong.Dapplesong was jumpy and tired form the long nights of moving cats and losing clanmates and she was ready to sleep. So many cats had left them and she didn't feel like talking to any cat but her mother so she padded to the medicine cat's den and looked in seeing cats in nests healing. She looked at jamilah and flicked her ears as if to say if she could come in. Jamilah nodded and she sliped into the den and walked up to her mother feathersong and sat next to her taking in the scents of herbs and blood. " Mom." She whispered and feathersong looked up her eyes glazed with pain. Dapplesong was crushed to see her mother this way and she licked her head and said with a sigh- " I love you." Dapplesong patrol with lilacshade.Dapplesong walked around the trees with prey hanging from her mouth and looked at lilacshades catchs thinking- We have enough for the hole summer! Hunting was always good at are camp. She pushed the words out of her head not wanting to think about the camp now. They cought scent of a mouse and she looked at lilacshade and whispered- " should we try and catch it?" PHEASANTDRIFT [ Perishable ] " I will close the door but I will open up my heart, and everyone I love will know exactly who you are " (Visiting Hours by Ed Sheeran)
Fire blazed as she felt Willowmouse begin to help her out. Pheasantdrift's eyes watered as she brushed up against the mediator. "I... don't want..." she cried as the mediator then pushed her up and eventually perished on the spot.
Pheasantdrift cried out when the mediator collapsed, and turned to the clan.
"WILLOWMOUSE IS DEAD!" the brown she-cat screamed, before she screamed again when she saw Pumpkinswipe with her mangled tail ablaze. She ran towards the smoke molly, her tears now a river. "Pumpkinswipe!" she exclaimed, sobbing. "You're tail its-!"
Pumpkinswipe sighed. "I don't have much time Pheasantdrift." she rasped. "But..." she bent down. "I-I... l-love y-" she lightly touched her nose against Pheasantdrift's nose before collapsing on the spot. Pheasantdrift froze. "I... love you...? ... Too..." she took a moment to process Pumpkinswipe's message and started wailing almost instantly, not looking back at PlumClan as she ran out of the camp.
Two cats.
Died in front of her.
One even confessed to her.
What a terrible moon.

Pheasantdrift wanted to cry.
She should cry.
The love of her life, Pumpkinswipe, was declared dead by Fawnstar, and had a whole public meltdown over it, in front of her whole clan. Did she have anyone else to love...? Marshfur, maybe. Pheasantdrift saw Pineconenibble, sulking. She went up to her.
"... oh, Pineconenibble..." she muttered as she sat next to her, and realized she was staring down at a small pumpkin that was growing. Pheasantdrift's heart was stabbed. She laid her head on her sister's shoulder.
"... We both loved her."
***
Pheasantdrift wasn't feeling any better going on patrol, when Beechfawn sparked the idea of going hunting, Pheasantdrift was the first to snap, claiming that they needed to rebuild the camp and take time grieving. Dogstripe sided with Pheasantdrift as they argued, and Pheasantdrift stomped away from the group VERY quickly.
Almost... too quickly...
***
Pheasantdrift sat down at a rock, her tail swishing the grass. "Oh I'm not going to StarClan..." she muttered, her paws tapping repetitively. "I caused the fire!" she cried to herself. "Cats died because I accidentally lit a dry vine on fire..."

Hatchhusk Hatchhusk sniffed at Larchspeck. The scent of infection was still there, but it was diminishing significantly. He stepped away, humming softly as he pulled out a few more herbs. The young warrior was improving well now, so Hatchhusk’s nerves were soothed. That’s one less thing to worry about. “Well, Larchspeck, good news. I think you’ll be up and about in no time at all! But do make sure to rest for now, and soon you’ll be able to patrol again.” He purred to himself.
The greenleaf weather was bone-dry, and the heat beat at his thick pelt. As he went out for herb-gathering, Hatchhusk turned up nothing. All the herbs crackled under his paws, or were otherwise too sun-bleached to use. Stars, this is almost as bad as leaf-bare! He growled to himself. He knew very well how bad a drought like this could be. If all the plants died off, the prey would starve, and so would they. Not to mention just how easily fire could catch.
Climbing back into his nest next to Leopardcry, the medicine cat dropped into a fitful sleep, tossing and turning. He found himself alone, walking through a field of grey. As he walked, his nose stung with the acrid scent of billowing smoke. His chest tightened with panic as the yowling of cats filled his ears. He wanted to run from the smoke, cover his ears from the horrible wailing, but whatever he did, it only got louder and the smoke only got thicker. His heart beat quick and his breath huffed in and out as the yowling and wailing voices grew more distinct. Amberdapple. Forestfreckle, Duskfeather, Aurburncreek… Leopardcry too. Hatchhusk raised his voice to call back, to assure them, to tell them he was on his way, as he ran through the grey, featureless forest. But nothing came out. He realised that he could no longer breathe.
His eyes flashed open, and he was shaking. The tom took a deep breath, trying to regain his calm the way he’d been taught as a medicine cat. He was curled next to Leopardcry. It’s a wonder I didn’t wake her. He puffed out another long, heavy breath. Brushing his cheek against hers, Hatchhusk’s mind was spinning. Was that an omen? He hoped to StarClan that it wasn’t. It seemed too obvious, too vivid. And I didn’t see anything related to StarClan. It must have been a bad dream. But even so, it stuck to his mind like a burr. He pressed himself to Leopardcry, whispering into her ear. “I love you so much. Remember that.”
He’d managed to push the idea to the back of his head after a few days, eyeing Larchspeck’s recovery with hope. Maybe that’s a good sign… for all of us. But the heatwave had only worsened. It happened when he was sorting herbs, discarding those that had dried out too much. As soon as the scent of smoke hit his nose, he was rocketed back to his dream several nights ago. Immediately, he dropped the herbs, rousing Larchspeck. “Fire!” he hissed urgently to Amberdapple and Jamilah as he moved Larchspeck out of the way. Where was Pumpkinswipe? It didn’t matter. He raced into the clearing, to see flames already leaping up the walls of the camp. He raised his voice, yowling again, but almost everyone had gotten the message already. Quick paws scampered out of the camp, but the fire spread even quicker, turning into a towering inferno that struck a deep, primal fear into his heart. Hatchhusk could only stay rooted to the ground. It was an omen.
He stood outside of camp with the others for a moment. Most of the cats had not come back yet. Including Leopardcry and some of her kits, Hatchhusk thought with a painful twinge. I must find her, and her kits! There’s no way I could bear to lose her, not so soon! Tossing a look back to Amberdapple, Hatchhusk took one last breath of fresh air and leapt back into the camp.
By now, orange flames licked at the walls of the camp, and the smoke was chokingly thick, making it difficult to breathe. Even so, Hatchhusk soldiered on, calling out to Leopardcry. A cough racked through him. He was running out of air, but he didn’t stop. “Blazetumble! Bumblecrest! Marshfur! Follow my voice! Leopardcry! *Cough* Please, anyone, do you hear me?” A shape emerged from the smoke, amber eyes still glinting. Leopardcry? But as the cat approached, limping as they coughed and hacked, Hatchhusk recognized Marshfur, one of Leopardcry’s kits. He put his paw on their shoulder. “Marshfur!” he gasped. “Thank StarClan! The exit’s straight behind me, move as fast as you can, I’ll find your mother!”
As he got to the dens, the heat was so unbearable, Hatchhusk thought his own pelt would burst into flame. His voice was horace from calling out for Leopardcry, and his head spun. He couldn’t see the exit anymore, and he didn’t even know where he was going. Breathing was hard. He was exhausted. “Leopardcry! Where are you? Call to me! Do you hear my voice?” He yowled, but it sounded more like a pained whimper now. Under the roar of the flames, he heard a small noise, definitely of a cat. Hatchhusk ran towards it, heart hammering. He didn’t want to think about what condition he’d find her in. The lanky tom tripped, tumbling down to the ground. Looking back, he saw a dark shape in the smog. It was Leopardcry, laying on the ground, her breath coming heavy and laboured. He crawled next to her, trying to hoist her up onto his shoulders. The effort was too much. The young medicine cat’s legs gave way, and he collapsed next to her. “StarClan, please! Give me the strength to do this, if nothing else! Let Leopardcry survive, I beg you!” he gasped out. She stirred at the sound of his voice. Hatchhusk licked her face desperately, grooming off the soot and dust, revealing her pale ginger fur, her golden eyes. He brushed the grime off his own face, his eyes spilling with tears from both the smoke and the gut-wrenching feeling of dread overtaking his body. There is no escape from this. But I will find it here. Looking into your eyes.
They looked at each other, silent acceptance in their gazes.
Soft words were shared.
Gentle touch.
But it would not be known.
There was no life flashing before their eyes, no more desperate bids for freedom, no screeches of pain or anguish. All that was needed was in front of them. Hatchhusk didn’t know how long they stayed like that, didn’t care as everything faded into mist, the smoke wiped harmlessly from him as they stayed curled up with each other. It didn’t hurt. Nothing hurt, so long as he stayed here.
Stars shone in front of him. He knew now, that this would be his forever.
OOC - My longest post ever! Only the best for Hatchhusk, my oldest and greatest character on PlumClan and YewClan. I’m going to miss him

Fawnstar »
fire in the camp & tells a heartfelt story about auburncreek
A single spark had been all it took for PlumClan’s peaceful camp to be terrorized with chaos.
Fawnstar had just returned to camp from her patrol when the horrid scent of smoke filtered through the air. Fawnstar had taken note of the smell, but she had not panicked just yet - not when she knew that greenleaf was the season when the nearby twolegs began gardening and harvesting with large equipment that could easily crush a cat. The loud monsters were old and creaky, and every so often they would belch smoke that would waft into PlumClan’s camp, covering the old den with a hazy layer of smog. The tortoiseshell leader assumed the smell to be just that, a twoleg problem, but her assumptions had been proven as false. A sharp yowl from one of her Clanmates caught her attention, the panicked cry of a cat calling out “fire!” snapping Fawnstar out of her ease and pushing her straight into fight or flight.
Sure enough a spark on the edge of camp flared to life, roaring and spitting as it ravenously devoured the vines that covered their camp. Dry as they were, the fire was able to spread quickly, feasting upon the tangles that gave the camp a cozy vibe. Knowing right away that this was a fire no cat could put out, Fawnstar sounded the alarm, yowling as loud as she could for all to hear, ”PlumClan, retreat! We must escape camp!”
But her cries had not come quick enough. Already the shelter PlumClan called camp was shuddering. Wood moaned as it was eaten alive by the flames. Walls shrieked in agony. The fire spluttered and popped, a gurgling stomach that yearned for more. The camp was crumbling, falling in on itself far too quickly for all of her cats to make it out. Fawnstar knew what she had to do. She was leader of PlumClan and it was her solemn duty to protect her Clan.
Rushing toward the heart of the fire, Fawnstar noticed a few of her Clanmates running away, making it out of the crumbling camp; Stargazer, Rindlestripe, Daisytuft, Forestfreckle… The sight of her mottled colored daughter escaping brought the leader relief, but where was her other daughter? Where was Auburncreek? Had she already made it out of the camp? No. Something was telling the leader that Auburncreek was in danger, that her daughter was still somewhere in the mess of falling rubble and fire. While maternal instincts were screaming at her to find her daughter, her mind wandered about other cats she cared about. She had yet to see Willowmouse evacuate. And where had Duskfeather gone? Surely her elderly deputy, one of her best friends, had managed to escape. Then again, she knew her friend well enough to know that he wouldn’t leave until he had seen all of his Clanmates out and safe.
Heat flared against Fawnstar’s pelt as she swerved away from the flames. Wood chips tumbled down onto her, scorching and burning. She winced, but she pushed onward, determined to find her daughter. Determined to get Auburncreek out. Mother and daughter may have butted heads more times than either could count, but that was still Fawnstar’s baby. Auburncreek was still Fawnstar’s kit. ”Auburncreek! Auburncreek!” She cried out, smoke entering her mouth, squeezing her lungs, wreaking havoc in her chest.
Dark ginger fur caught Fawnstar’s attention. ”Auburncreek!” The leader yowled, lunging forward to grab her daughter, not caring that she was bursting through the fire’s flames. Not caring that her fur was burning. She needed to save her daughter. Her kit. She had lost one kit before, Fawnstar wasn’t going to lose a second.
She managed to grab Auburncreek and heave her forward. A loud snap from above was the last thing Fawnstar heard before the world spun, causing her to lose her footing. In a world raging with fire and swirling with smoke, Fawnstar fumbled. Landing on the ground beside her daughter, the burning camp around her went dark.
This was not Fawnstar’s first time in StarClan. This wouldn’t be her last time among the starry domain, either. An eerie calmness blanketed the leader as she padded among the starry bushes, blue eyes scanning the territory she only ever got to walk among for a few minutes. Would she find Oakfur this time? She often shared tongues with her father when she visited the stars, yet his familiar pelt was nowhere to be found. Fawnstar gazed around some more, easing herself into a stretch of wide open plain land. Tranquillity transformed into unease. This part of StarClan…she had never been here before. Where was she? Did StarClan want her to be here?
Gray tabby fur appeared in the corner of her eye. Fawnstar swiveled her head, just quick enough to register who had fluttered past her.
Fawnstar’s stomach twisted. ”Duskfeather!” But the tabby was long gone, vanished into the stars. Did this mean…? Did he…? Fawnstar swallowed down a lump in her throat. Duskfeather had been getting older, but surely the fire hadn’t been what did him in…
Two other shapes materialized in front of Fawnstar, taking her attention away from Duskfeather. She stepped closer, pushing through the star-dusted grasses. Havenspots was easy to recognize, his dark copper fur never forgotten by Fawnstar. Her heart ached as she stared at her son, grief renewing inside her. Oh, how she missed her son, her only son. So new to life, so fresh to warriorhood…
Auburncreek.
Standing before him was the daughter Fawnstar had so desperately tried to save. Beautiful stars glittered in her pelt, complimenting the shine in her eyes. Death was not something new to Fawnstar, but it was never easy, especially when it came to her kits. ”Auburncreek…” The leader breathed, eyes watery as she blinked tears away. ”I’m sorry…” She had been too late. Not quick enough. The tortoiseshell craned her neck forward, pressing herself against Auburncreek. If she could spare one of her own lives, if she could just transfer one over to Auburncreek…
Eyes snapped wide open. No longer was she in the starry field of StarClan, but instead she was looking upon the smoky remains of PlumClan’s camp from far away - from a safe distance. The molly attempted to push herself to her paws, but she crumbled before she even had her whole weight placed on the ground. Fawnstar coughed, her body shuddering. Some cat had pulled her out of the fire. Something in the back of her mind made her think of Tansypaw and Cloverfur. She had been saved, but not Duskfeather, not Auburncreek…
Fawnstar shut her eyes tight. She wasn’t sure she was prepared to hear of all the tragedies her Clan had just faced.
- - -
Some hours later the rosette splashed leader managed to find it in her to rise to her paws. Fawnstar looked out upon the destruction, smoke still billowing from the camp. The grieving chatter of her Clanmates pulled her attention back toward her Clan, chest tightening at the sight of all them huddled, wide-eyed with shock and despair. Duskfeather, Auburncreek, Hatchhusk, Leopardcry, Willowmouse, and so many more had been lost to the fire. So many taken from them far too soon. PlumClan had not been spared. Fawnstar struggled to grab her Clan’s attention, but she knew what she had to do. As PlumClan’s leader she knew that something needed to be done.
”Cats of PlumClan, tragedy has struck us in our very home…” Her voice trailed off, the smoke she had inhaled earlier impacting her ability to speak and even breath. She knew she needed to make a compelling speech, but she may have to keep this one unceremoniously short. ”We will make a temporary camp near the wall for now. Rebuilding our camp can wait until we are stronger, so for now we must rest. For now we must sit vigil for those we lost…” Only a few bodies had been drug out from the flames so far, most of them charred and smoky. Leopardcry lay lifeless beside Hatchhusk. Willowmouse’s whiskers had burned off and her tail charred. Auburncreek had lost patches of fur along her back and limbs. Fawnstar stared at her daughter. She had so much she could say, so much she could recall about all of her fallen Clanmates, but all she could focus on was Auburncreek. All she could think about was her daughter. She swallowed, throat scratchy. ”I remember when she was just a kit, how boisterous she had been… She tried rallying her littermates to sneak out of camp and find their father. I swear by StarClan she would have gotten away with it if Amberdapple hadn’t been coming back to camp when they tried sneaking out… Auburncreek was always headstrong and stubborn, but she was wise and loyal.” Auburncreek cared deeply about her Clan and had been willing to do anything for PlumClan’s sake. Just like me, the leader mused. Just like her… They didn’t always get along, but perhaps that was because they were so similar.
Fawnstar’s throat choked. She couldn’t say anymore. Not right now. The leader looked away from her Clanmates, holding back the tears that threatened her eyes. Her Clan needed her more than ever, but she needed a moment to herself. A moment to recollect herself. A moment to remember those close to her she had lost. Duskfeather, her dear deputy. Willowmouse, her patient former mentor. Leopardcry, her kind former apprentice, Auburncreek, her headstrong daughter. She would have to address her Clan in a more official way later. She would have to name a new deputy before moonhigh. But for now…right now she just needed a breather.
StarClan, please keep all we lost safe among your ranks.
Praying was the best she could do right now.
