Fawnstar »
hunting the cornfield with duskfeather & leopardpaw - duskflight
A warm greenleaf breeze swept across the land as Fawnstar, Duskfeather, and Leopardpaw patrolled ever closer to the open farmland near the twoleg’s corn field. Prey had been running well in other areas of the territory, and upon Duskfeather’s suggestion, the Clan leader had decided to hunt within the cornfield. Mice were rather abundant between the corn stalks, and they were easy catches as well - plump and slow on the kernels, a quick-footed warrior could catch a dozen mice on a lucky day.
Typically Fawnstar would avoid the corn field with an apprentice tagging along - the fields were rather open and exposed for most seasons - but this late into greenleaf meant that the corn was growing tall and thick, a perfect hiding spot should something go awry. A quick glance toward her dark-furred deputy gave her another reassurance. Duskfeather was a strong fighter and a loyal warrior. He’d make sure that Leopardpaw was safe just as Fawnstar would. She made sure to remain alert and aware of her surroundings. If something happened she knew she had extra lives while her two Clanmates did not.
Slipping into the greenery of the corn stalks, Fawnstar leaned her head downward to nudge her apprentice ever so slightly. ”What can you scent?” She asked softly, voice low so that only young Leopardpaw could make it out. The leader herself had already tasted the air only to be greeted by a whole lot of nothing. Scents of prey had drifted across her tongue, but they had been stale, faint, perhaps from the day before or longer than that. Concern rippled through her pelt, yet she made sure to hide it away from the potential peering eyes of her apprentice and deputy both. They weren’t all that far into the cornfield just yet, perhaps once they ventured deeper they would have more luck. It was a solace knowing that the season was greenleaf and the fresh-kill pile would still be plump even if their patrol did not bring back much, though it would certainly be a disappointment. What would the Clan say if their leader and deputy both returned to camp empty pawed?
Blue eyes cast a sheltered glance toward the outskirts of the field. They were as far east from the camp as their territory allowed. There would be plenty of time between here and home to catch something along the way if the cornfields remained as barren of prey as they did currently.
Fawnstar »
It was a rare treat for the leader to have free time in the PlumClan camp. Often busy with leading patrols or seeing to it that her apprentice was getting the best education possible, Fawnstar seldom allowed herself time in the camp unless she was sharing a meal to give her energy for the day or preparing herself to sleep throughout the night to ready herself for a new dawn.
What exactly was a leader doing on their time off in camp? Well, there were a million different things the tortoiseshell molly could be doing, but her attention was all on the youngest member of the Clan - Dustkit and Goldkit.
It was these two kits that would become the future of PlumClan. They would grow into fine warriors or healers in their time. Perhaps one day they would go on and have kits of their own, securing a legacy within PlumClan that would last for as long as the trees stood tall and the orchard swayed in the gentle wind. The welcoming of kits - whether they were born within the Clan or found on the outskirts of the territory - was always a joyous celebration. It was one of Fawnstar’s favorite things. Even as a young warrior, even as an apprentice, the autumn colored molly had always welcomed kits into the Clan with merriment and pride. Upon the kits’ first days of being part of PlumClan she had gone out on a day long trip to gather soft feathers and gentle moss to gift their nest with. Kits were precious. Treating them with kindness allowed them to grow into strong and swift cats that would guide PlumClan’s future for the rest of its days.
A thump against her paws brought the leader out of her thoughts. Glancing downward she spotted the crinkled ball of moss young Dustkit had been batting back and forth. With a mrrrow of laughter and a bemused twitch of her whiskers, Fawnstar batted the moss ball right back toward Dustkit, eager to continue the game.
There were cats who would scoff at the idea of playing a “kit-game”, but Fawnstar was well aware of the importance of such games. Moss ball was the beginning of warrior training. Kits learned how to coordinate their movements, how to build stamina and power. Playing with others allowed them to work on their communication skills, allowed them to gain friendships that would last even once they were among the stars. Moss ball was much more important than other cats may admit, but Fawnstar knew. She knew it was the foundation of great warriors.

Cloverfur - Herb Gathering with Amberdapple
Cloverfur had wanted to go on a border patrol to the Flowerclan border, but he had no such luck. It wasn't that he didn't like hanging out with the clans only medicine cat, and gathering herbs was very important, it was he wanted to see if the Flowerclan cat they had saved last moon was okay. Maybe if they had run into another patrol while they were at the border.... no. Cloverfur had to focus on his own clan, not Flowerclan. Maybe he could try and find the cat at the next gathering, they had been able to walk back to their camp after all.
Today Cloverfur had been assigned to go out with Amberdapple. Cloverfur thought he was actually quite lucky, the she-cat was full of wisdom and not a bad talker, so if a conversation was started Cloverfur could count on it not dying instantly. Amberdapple had told him that they were to collect moss, that she knows where the best patches of moss are in the entire territory! And now he would know where they are too.
"When did you find these patches?" Cloverfur asked. "Or did your mentor find them and show them to you?" It was possible that these patches of moss were really old, and had just been taken care of by the medicine cats of Plumclan for seasons! That would actually be really cool! To protect something so cared for, it was like being a warrior. Both roles protected something worth caring for. In fact, the medicine cats probably did more than the warriors did. The medicine cats treated the wounded as well as collect herbs and care for the patches of herbs found on their territory. "How hard is it to be a medicine cat?" He asked. Cloverfur didn't ask because he was trying to be mean, he was asking because he was curious.

Leopardpaw- Hunting with Fawnstar, Duskfeather. Leopardpaw was out in the corn, on a hunting patrol. She felt very proud to be out with the leader and deputy! "𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗯𝗶𝘁!" She told Fawnstar after she asked her what she could scent. Suddenly, she saw movement in the field. She saw a large white rabbit hopping along. She dropped into a hunting crouch, quietly so the rabbit didn't hear her. She leaped, and caught it with one swift swipe of her claws. Leopardpaw lifted her head a little higher, feeling confident about her successful catch. (I'm back! Sorry I didn't participate last time, I'm taking a bit of a break ATM. Thanks!) Goldkit- Thinks he could outsmart a fox
Goldkit was sitting near the nursery, thinking about something he had overheard one of his clanmates say some time ago. Something about a fox, which Goldkit was very curious about. He had never seen a fox before but he had heard that they’re quite smart and vicious. Goldkit was sure that he’s so much smarter than a fox! Especially one day when he gets to be an apprentice and learn all of the things that he’ll one day learn. Goldkit spots a nearby twig and then he started to sneak up on it, pretending that the twig was a fox and that he was a warrior protecting his clan from it. He moved clumsily when he was sneaking up on the twig, although he was trying his best not to make any noise. He then pounced onto the twig, biting onto it and scratching it. He then stood proudly over his defeated foe, in his imagination having just protected Plumclan from this terrible threat. Indeed, this surely was the way to outsmart a fox.

Fawnstar »
Rabbit?
Fawnstar craned her head upward, jaws parting as she took in a sharp breath, allowing the air to roll over her scent glands and tongue. Just moments ago she had been unable to find any of the familiar warm scents of nearby prey. Had she somehow missed the presence of prey? How had she been unable to detect the scent of rabbit of all things, and how had Leopardpaw picked it up so easily? There was always the possibility that her apprentice had mistaken the scent of rabbit for something else entirely, the young molly’s mind playing a trick on her due to wishful thinking, but Leopardpaw had proven time and time again that she was a skilled tracker. It seemed quite unlikely that she would mistake a smell for something else, and all the more unlikely that she would mistake a stale trail for something fresh.
Her tail twitched, mind pondering the conundrum. To believe her apprentice or not… To figure out how Leopardpaw had caught fresh scent while Fawnstar had not?
Blue eyes glanced toward her apprentice. Fawnstar’s jaw tightened in thought; her apprentice had yet to reach her full height. She was closer to the ground, scents wafting up toward her from the earth while Fawnstar was being provided scents by the flow of air around her and her patrol. Perhaps what Leopardpaw was smelling was coming from lower than what Fawnstar could easily pick up. Perhaps the tall corn stalks were constricting what Fawnstar had access to. Perhaps she just needed to lower her head and try to see things from Leopardpaw’s perspective.
A flash of movement between the corn quickly grabbed the leader’s attention. Before she even had time to register what it was, Leopardpaw had sprinted forward, weaving her smaller frame with ease through the green stalks. Within seconds the young feline had a limp body dangling from her jaws, the pride in her gaze clear even from where Fawnstar stood.
A rabbit. There really had been a rabbit after all.
”Great catch!” She called to Leopardpaw as she padded toward her apprentice, waving with her tail for Duskfeather to follow along. While her attention was on Leopardpaw, she had not forgotten about the presence of her deputy.
The leader smiled, purring warmly, as she nodded at the catch. ”You’re becoming a fine hunter,” she praised, yet while she was delighted to see the makings of a wonderful huntress in Leopardpaw, a flicker of worry did cross her features. ”We will have to make sure no twoleg sees us bringing this back to camp,” she warned softly, eyeing the white fur that covered the rabbit’s body. Wild rabbits always carried a gray agouti pattern to their fur, a coat color that resembled the ticked tabby pattern on a cat, but this particular rabbit was painted in a brilliant white now stained red around its neck. This rabbit was not a wild one, but rather, a rabbit bred and raised by the twolegs who shared this land with the wild cats. Just because they shared their land did not mean they enjoyed it when Clan cats took from their own stock of fresh-kill. ”Can you tell me why?” She asked her apprentice levelly, wanting to remain proud that Leopardpaw had managed such a flawless kill, yet wanting to make sure Leopardpaw knew when and why she had to be cautious about certain actions and decisions she would make throughout her life as a Clan cat.

Duskfeather- Hunting with Fawnstar and Leopardpaw Duskfeather followed Fawnstar to see that Leopardpaw had, indeed, caught a rabbit. He felt relief knowing that his idea to hunt in the corn wasn’t a waste of time, however couldn’t help but feel a little embarrassed that the youngest member of the patrol was the only one who could scent the animal. There was no doubt that Fawnstar had trained her well. Duskfeather noticed the freshly killed rabbit’s white fur, realizing that it was twoleg bred. He was not the only one to notice this however, as the clan leader began to quiz Leopardpaw about it. The deputy began to look around and scent the air. He knew that if twolegs were near, the situation could become dangerous, as the relationship between them and the clan cats had always been a finicky one. He sniffed around: nothing. It looked like the coast was clear… for now. Tagging duskflight Feathertalon

Amberdapple Moss (Dew )
Amberdapple knew all the best spots for moss. She had known since her first day as an apprentice, when her mentor had shown her. She remembered he mentor. Her name was Sunwhisper. She had been the best medicine cat in the forest. Until the Twolegs took her, that was.
Amberdapple padded through the forest, her ‘escort’ by her side. She thought that she was really the escort here. Cloverfur would have no idea where to go without her. The two walked in silence. Amberdapple closed her eyes and took a moment to relish the calm of the forest. The melodic chirps from the birds in the trees; The soothing sound of the Rushing Creek; The crisp morning scent blowing through the air; The nearly silent footsteps of the pair padding along; The fresh breeze tickling her ears; The warm sun shining on her dappled back; The drops of dew on the blades of grass that she stepped on. All of it. Amberdapple was thankful to be here.
Soon the patrol of two ended up at the moss patch. It was a dense patch of trees with long branches, moss draping off all of them. Amberdapple immediately started gathering. Soon it was quiet, until broken by a voice. “My mentor didn’t find them, neither did I. My mentor’s mentor’s mentor’s... mentor’s mentor’s... mentor found them.” She paused a few times, making sure she was counting correctly.
Eventually they had gotten just enough moss that they could carry, almost too much but not quite. Amberdapple was grateful for the young warrior’s help – double the moss, double the medicine-den-nest fluff, and a more prepared medicine den.

Cloverfur - Is given Goldpaw as an apprentice & Training Patrol with Goldpaw
Cloverfur honestly hadn't been expecting Goldpaw as an apprentice. He had been hoping for one, yes, but he was still young and there were plenty of older, more experienced warriors. He had thought he might get Dustkit as an apprentice, or one of Rindlestripe's new kits. When Fawnstar had called his name of all cats to mentor the young cat. He was excited, yet admittedly a little nervous. What if he messed everything up?
Today was the first patrol he was taking Goldpaw on. After the ceremony he had taken the gold tom out for a quick tour of the territory, but this was the first patrol where Cloverfur was going to do some teaching. Today he was going to focus on hunting, and maybe next time they would focus on fighting? But Cloverfur wanted to make sure Goldpaw knew how to do one of the most important things a warrior could do, which was hunt for his clan.
"Why don't you try the hunting crouch? Remember to keep your body close to the ground and make sure you don't step on anything, and try to stay light on your paws. Like I showed you" Cloverfur said. He remembered when he had first learned the hunting crouch, which seemed like ages ago now. It was now instinct for him now, as much as breathing was or sleeping. It was usually hard to pick up but even harder to forget once you get the hang of it.

Goldpaw- Training with his mentor, Cloverfur
Goldpaw walked with his mentor while they were going out on patrol. He felt excited that today is his first day of training! He listened to the different sounds of the forest from all of the birds singing in the trees to the sound of grass rustling in the breeze. He sniffed the air and smelled all different kinds of scents, some that are familiar and some that are still unfamiliar to him. Goldpaw wondered what new things he’ll be learning today. He listened closely as his mentor spoke to him. Goldpaw realized that he’ll be learning the hunting crouch today. “Okay!” Goldpaw said eagerly, as he did what his mentor told and showed him to do. He tried to keep his body close to the ground, and his steps light but quickly found that learning the hunter’s crouch is harder than it looks. His body isn’t close enough to the ground as it should be and his steps aren’t light enough, creating as lot of noise as he moved. Goldpaw tried again, determined to learn the hunter’s crouch the best he can. It was then that he noticed a butterfly fluttering nearby. He watched as it landed onto a flower. A thought entered his mind. Wouldn’t it be amazing if he could catch that butterfly, especially on his first day of training? He tried to sneak up onto it, only for it to start fluttering away before he got close enough. He tried to pounce onto it anyway, trying catch it before it flew away. Before Goldpaw realized it, he had grown distracted and forgot about his training as he chased the butterfly.

WILLOWMOUSE - Hunting with Duskfeather Thank the Stars for sensible cats, Willowmouse mused as she followed after Duskfeather. The setting sun cast growing shadows across the forest, cooling the thick summer heat down to something more bearable. It wasn't the hottest summer she'd lived through, but it had never been her favorite season for that exact reason. Duskfeather, it seemed, understood the merits of patience. Instead of chasing after the boisterous younger warriors and their high-noon patrols; the deputy had quite sensibly chosen the evening for a good hunt. Willowmouse had actually been rather pleased when the tom had invited her out. At least someone knew what they were doing! Together, they set out a quick pace out into the territory. Without the sun's glare to chase off the prey, there was plenty ripe for the picking as they sought out water and food before the last of the light left.

Cloverfur - Training Patrol with Goldpaw
Goldpaw's crouch was... not the best. But they could work on it! All Goldpaw needed was a little time and effort, and they could get the job done. Then they would have to go over what each scent was and how stalking a mouse was different from stalking a rabbit-. Mentoring is a lot harder than it sounds.
Right before Cloverfur was about to call Goldpaw over again, it seemed the young had gone off course. The new apprentice was chasing a butterfly! "Goldpaw!" Cloverfur called, padding after the young tom. After he had caught Goldpaw's attention, Cloverfur signaled for the tom to sit down, a stern look on his face.
"Listen Goldpaw, I know this is new for you, but you an apprentice now. You have to focus on your training if you want to be a warrior, which means you have to listen to me, and do things when I tell you too. No more chasing Butterflies when you are supposed to me learning, understand?"

Goldpaw-Training with Cloverfur
Upon hearing his name, Goldpaw immediately halted in his tracks. Turning around to look at his mentor, he noticed the stern look on his face. He then recognized what he had just done. He had completely abandoned his training just to chase a single butterfly! He walked back over to his mentor and then sat down in front of him, his head held low in shame. He listened as his mentor spoke to him about what he needed to do from now on. “Yes, Cloverfur, I understand. I promise to focus more on my training.” He said quietly. So much for doing great on his first day of training.

Duskfeather- Hunting with Willowmouse Duskfeather wandered out into the territory, being followed by Willowmouse. With all the recent excitement in the clan, like Goldpaw’s apprentice ceremony and Rindlestripe’s new kits, it seemed like the clan had neglected doing as many hunting patrols as the deputy considered necessary. Luckily, he brought someone wise and sensible with him. Willowmouse always seemed to share Duskfeather’s values, and he knew he could count on her. Neither cat was much for conversation, so the patrol was quiet. Duskfeather had chosen the evening to hunt, not just because it shielded them from the usual green leaf heat, but also since the prey was more abundant at this time. He felt it was gonna be a great hunt. And this feeling of his was already seeming to fulfill itself, as Duskfeather scented a mouse, not too far away. He entered a hunting crouch and began to slowly approach it. He stalked the mouse for a bit, and when he saw his opportunity… he pounced! It was a big one too. He quickly thanked Star Clan and buried it, noting its location. He walked back to Willowmouse, to see if she had caught anything, and to catch more himself. Surely the clan will be impressed when they return with all their prey. Tagging jaybun!

Fawnstar »
Life was booming within the borders of PlumClan. Greenleaf was at its peak, warm sunshine blazing down upon the earth below the long stretch of sky. Birdsong floated through the air while the melody of crickets and frogs trumpeted in the background. Squirrels busied themselves with the collection and hiding of nuts in the patches of woodland that decorated PlumClan's territory. While all was going well and greenleaf was proving just as fruitful as ever, Fawnstar knew that soon this time of plenty would come to an end. In just a few short moons the cold talons of leaf-bare would its grip on PlumClan, and the leader was already preparing herself for what was to come. She was already beginning to prepare her Clan for the long, harsh moons of cold and hunger.
In the last moon alone she had promoted young Goldkit to Goldpaw, the pale ginger tom being apprenticed to Cloverfur. Fawnstar had pulled the young warrior to the side some days ago, speaking at length with him about the responsibility of taking on an apprentice. The warrior was young and had yet to train a 'paw before, but Fawnstar believed that he had it in him, that he could perform this duty well and train a young cat into a fine warrior one day. She believed in the gray striped tom, and she was eager to see where Goldpaw's training went.
Another precaution the leader was taking involved the future ceremonies of Leopardpaw and Fogpaw; the two apprentices were inching ever closer to their warrior status. From spindly limbed adolescents to filled out adults, the two young cats were coming into their bodies and transforming into adults before Fawnstatr's very eyes. She recalled how young and small Leopardpaw had been the day she had announced her apprenticeship, how eager the young molly had been. She remembered Fogpaw's youth as well, how the pale gray apprentice had still been covered in downy kit fluff on the day of his apprentice ceremony. Now both he and Leopardpaw were almost ready to be named warriors. Fawnstar wanted to honor them as warriors before the first frost fell upon the ground, but before she could even plan that ceremony out, she needed to test the two and see if they were ready.
Alongside Rindlestripe, Fogpaw's mentor, Fawnstar motioned for Fogpaw and Leopardpaw to stand beside Rindlestripe; the leader took a few steps away, an idea already forming in her mind. If she were to name the two apprentices as warriors soon, they needed to prove to her that they knew how to fight in the midst of a heated battle.
"Leopardpaw, Fogpaw, I want you to work alongside Rindlestripe to form a battle strategy against your enemy. Which," she swished her tail around, angling her tail-tip to point toward herself, "I will be playing the part of your enemy. Show me that you can coordinate with your Clanmates to protect and defend PlumClan from an attack."

Rindlestripe
Notices Shinekit trying his best/Suprises Fogpaw with something nice! A majority of Rindlestripe’s day was spent secluded in the orchard looking at the plethora of flowers their shrubs and vines hosted. In late greenleaf, the garden had never looked more colorful, but the masked warrior's sights were set on some special flowers. Ones that eased restlessness and calmed senses. Rindlestripe’s parenting instincts were in full effect, and they were on a mission to decorate the nursery with the sweetest smelling flowers imaginable.
The white and brown tabby stared at the plants rising from the soil. Rose, poppies, even some lavender. This will do nicely. The poppies and lavender were in full bloom and Rindlestripe snipped off a couple of stalks. But the roses had thorns. Luckily, a light breeze had carried a few petals onto land. Gratefully they rolled around, attempting to accumulate rose petals onto their fur. Satisfied with their pickings, Rindlestripe strutted towards camp.
It must've been an unusual sight watching the normally stoic Rindlestripe carrying flowers. Not to mention they were covered from ears to tail in dust. Suppose these kits would make them do extraordinary things. It will be worth it to see them all become extraordinary warriors. Making it inside the nursery cave, Rindlestripe shook themselves off and weaved the bright flowers into each moss nest (providing an adequate supply to Dustkit’s too, of course) before peeking over the largest one, purring.
Four perfect bundles of fur, each sharing varying shades of brown and white, no larger than a field mouse. Beetlekit was the biggest and liked to throw his weight around, Hatchkit and Willowkit were identical, asides from the former having white rings above their eyes and ears, and Shinekit- Rindlestripe watched as the marbled tom attempted to climb out the fragrant nest. Shinekit made their heart melt. They reached out a paw to gently usher Shinekit back in. “No escaping the nursery today.”
Once Rindlestripe was certain the kittens were asleep (it was hard to tell with their eyes still closed!) they gathered the remaining scraps and sauntered out of the nursery. Now who could they give this prize to? Not one of the senior warriors, that would be awkward. But perhaps… the warrior spotted their apprentice in the clearing. This would be an excellent gift for him.
“Well done on your training, Fogpaw.” greeted Rindlestripe cheerfully. A wave of hot embarrassment burned their ears, but they tried to flick the feeling away. “I was… uhm-using these blossoms to decorate the nests in the nursery, but I overestimated how many I carried. Would you like what’s left?” tags:Brownie ooc: (Sorry for taking so long guys-I'm exhausted. I did not have motivation today and honestly I'm not too proud of my writing. But I hope y'all enjoy this nonetheless! Feathertalon I'll see what I can do for training!)

Duskfeather- Border Patrol with Rindlestripe, Fogpaw and Leopardpaw A chilly leaf fall breeze blew past the patrol, as Duskfeather lead the group of cats through the territory. The leaves had already started turning orange and falling, but the clan was still holding up. Rindlestripe had been really busy with his kits recently, so Duskfeather was happy to see them on patrol again. However, Duskfeather was not as enthusiastic about the apprentices. He felt that Leopardpaw and Fogpaw hadn’t been training as hard as they should, and he even considered telling Fawnstar that she shouldn’t make Leopardpaw a warrior yet, but telling the clan leader that you don’t think her apprentice to ready to be promoted would definitely come out as rude. Duskfeather kept quiet and continued on the patrol, until he suddenly scented an unfamiliar smell. His first thought is that it was just another BurdockClan cat stealing prey again, but upon a second sniff he realized that the scent was not actually of BurdockClan. In fact, it was not of any clan. This was either a loner or a rogue. Duskfeather went on guard. While PlumClan had always been pretty friendly with outsiders, this did not mean that they could just ignore a potentially dangerous cat on their territory. “Follow me and stay alert.” He said. “We’re gonna see what this cat’s doing here”. Tagging lazzylake Brownie duskflight OOC: (I decided to put the patrol before Leopardpaw’s promotion, as Duskfeather also had a thought about not thinking she’s not ready to be a warrior yet. If anyone wants to change that let me know and I’ll edit it out!)

Fawnstar »
enjoys hatchkit's company - @ -
Only a few sunrises had passed since Fawnstar had called the Clan together for an announcement. Proudly she had called forth her apprentice Leopardpaw, asking for the young molly to stand tall in front of PlumClan’s warriors and take her place among them as a warrior herself. It seemed as if only just yesterday Fawnstar had announced her as an apprentice to the Clan, and now she was a full fledged warrior. She was the next generation of protectors and providers for PlumClan, the next generation of tradition upholders and tellers of stories. She was the base on which PlumClan stood, and Fawnstar was beyond proud of all she had learned during her apprenticeship. She had made the leader proud, now it was Leopard’s chance to make the Clan proud.
While it was refreshing to no longer spend time training an apprentice, Fawnstar already missed the hours she had spent with the Clan’s youth. Getting to know all her Clanmates, old and young, was one of the leader’s favorite parts of being, well, leader. She didn’t want to be just some cat that stood above everybody else and commanded her warriors without a relationship. She wanted to be a cat that others looked up to while being a cat that others could turn to in their time of need. She wanted to establish friendships and grow a strong bond with her Clanmates. Fawnstar was PlumClan’s leader, the highest ranking cat there was, but she didn’t want that to deter others from coming to her when they needed her. The mostly ginger molly was leader, but first and foremost she wanted to be a reassuring friend.
One way to strengthen bonds and allow her Clanmates to see her as a friend was by forming those relationships early on. Which was exactly why she was lounging near the nursery, pale blue eyes watching with amusement as Hatchkit played about with excitement.
A smile pulled the molly’s lips upward, a purr vibrating in her throat. She lay there in contentment as she watched the kit. He and his littermates were a wonderful addition to the ranks of PlumClan, and Fawnstar was beyond excited to see where their future lay. So many possibilities were open for them, so many opportunities and chances to make PlumClan stronger than it had ever been. Would they be warriors or would they be healers? Would they be a mix of both, or perhaps would they decide to protect the peace between Clans and take on the role of mediator? It wasn’t a common position that cats took, but it was a viable rank nonetheless. No matter what they decided to make of their future, Fawnstar would support them and help guide their paws. Hatchkit and his siblings were still quite young, but in the blink of an eye they would be warriors, strong and capable of doing whatever they put their minds to.
Fawnstar »
”Goldpaw, may I speak with you?”
The leader’s tone was warm and friendly, inquiring as well. She understood how nerve wracking it could be for a warrior, let alone the Clan leader, to approach and ask for a one-on-one conversation, so she wanted to keep the air around them calm. The last thing she wanted was for Goldpaw to feel as if he were getting into trouble and or being scolded for his lackluster attention span as of late. Fawnstar had no plans of admonishing the young cat, but she did want to figure out the reason for Goldpaw’s recent distractions. If something was going on in the young tom’s life then she wanted to know about it. If she knew about it then she could help him out, and helping him out may allow him to focus on his warrior training.
She recalled how Cloverfur approached her last evening. The gray tom had been quite concerned for his new apprentice, going into detail about how Goldpaw seemed distracted collecting moss; she had asked the warrior if perhaps Goldpaw had simply been upset about spending a training session gathering moss, and while Cloverfur admitted to have taken the apprentice to a patch that wasn’t the easiest to gather from, he was adamant that Goldpaw wasn’t upset about the task, but instead just seemed out of it, in a daze, like he was somewhere else. The tortoiseshell molly knew that her former apprentice wouldn’t be coming to her unless he was truly concerned. Taking Cloverfur’s worries into consideration, Fawnstar had decided to speak with Goldpaw herself, hoping to get to the bottom of his distractions and help him should something be wrong.
The leader waited patiently for a response, remaining gentle and friendly. She smiled warmly at Goldpaw, sitting down nearby. This was a casual conversation, a talk between Clanmates. Fawnstar was keeping this as open and relaxed, not wanting to frighten the young tom in any way.

Fawnstar »
A constant chill in the air hovered within the breeze that rustled the trees and bushes. Vibrant greens were quickly changing hues, decorating the landscape in vivid shades of yellow and orange. In the coming days the brilliant colored leaves would dry out and fall from the trees, coating the ground underneath in brittle decay still gorgeous in hue. It was during this time, when the leaves gave up their life and became a blanket over the earth, that Fawnstar became invisible, a ghost among the foliage. With an autumnal display painting her pelt, the molly blended into the leaf-fall scenery as if she herself was a pile of leaves that life was breathed into and then molded into the shape of a cat. With all the vibrancy of orange and yellow tones decorating her fur, it was a wonder her parents had not named her Leafkit, yet Fawnkit had been just as suitable - her camouflage in the season of leaf-fall was like the camouflage of a baby deer among the thickness of greenleaf.
Knowing what the faint chills of this season would bring soon enough, Fawnstar was more eager than ever to get outside and provide for her Clan. With kits to feed and a Clan growing every moon, it was imperative that they catch as much prey as they could in the coming moons. Stocking up now was in their best interest. Letting prey slip out of their claws was not an option.
Side by side with her former mentor, Fawnstar stealthily prowled through the dying undergrowth as senior warrior and leader made their way to the open fields in which PlumClan tended to do most of their hunting. While Fawnstar wanted to hunt within the confines of the grotto near camp, knowing that she was best camouflaged among the colors of leaf-fall, she was well aware of Willowmouse trailing beside her, how the older molly’s pelt blended in more against the browns of dried out wheat stalks and crunchy corn stalks. The two cats would continue to hunt until they returned to camp, and Fawnstar knew she could bring back a squirrel or two on the way back and allow Willowmouse to make most of the catches at the start of their hunt. If they hunted in areas that suited them best rather than hunting in just one area that only suited one of them, they would have a higher chance of bringing home more prey.
Even if Fawnstar had to wait until the second half of their hunt to bring down prey, she was just glad to be spending time with Willowmouse. Though it had been seasons since the two were mentor and apprentice, their bond remained, and Fawnstar never missed a chance to spend quality time with the aging warrior.

Goldpaw-Speaking with Fawnstar Goldpaw was thinking about what had happened during the training patrol today. The young tom knew that he had gotten distracted once again during training. He had meant to stay focused, wanting to do better than he did the last time he went training with Cloverfur. However, during training his thoughts kept drifting back to all of the strange dreams he had been getting the past few nights. Something about those dreams bothered him but Goldpaw couldn’t quite put a paw to as to why. Lately, his dreams were beginning to feel like they weren’t his at all but how could that be? How can he feel that these dreams were unfamiliar to him even if they clearly take place on Plumclan territory? Why was he beginning to feel like his dreams didn’t belong to him? Questions like these ones are what had been plaguing his mind during training. So much so that they had distracted him from collecting moss like he was supposed to. Granted, this particular patch was located someplace that was harder to collect from but surely he could have at least gotten a few? How could Goldpaw let himself get so distracted today? Adding to that, there’s the matter of his mentor’s reaction to his recent distractions. Goldpaw had never seen him look so concerned before. Had his distractions been getting that bad? Before Goldpaw could ponder further on what had been happening to him so far lately, he heard a voice near him. He look up to see Fawnstar approaching him. Goldpaw had a sinking feeling that his recent distractions may be the cause of his leader wanting to speak to him. He felt nervous about having to talk to his leader, especially if he suspects what the subject of this conservation might be about. However, his leader didn’t seem too upset with him. This calmed him down a bit. “Of course, Fawnstar. What did you want to speak to me about?” Goldpaw asked politely. Feathertalon

Cloverfur - Training Patrol with Goldpaw
Cloverfur wanted to succeed in today's patrol. Last session the two had made some progress at the hunting crouch, but not much. The tom had seemed distracted, and so Cloverfur backtracked a little. He didn't want to revisit the hunting crouch yet and he had already planned ahead for what he was going to do today. They were going to collect moss.
Cloverfur had taken Goldpaw out into Plumclan territory, and he headed toward where he and Amberdapple had collected moss a few moons ago. He knew that the clan could always use moss and collecting it taught apprentices more things than one.
"This is how you collect the moss," Cloverfur demonstrated, raking his claws at the patch in front of the pair. It seemed tougher then when he had been here with Amberdapple, and less moss then he had hoped had slid off the patch. Maybe it will keep Goldpaw's attention on it then, instead of him getting distracted like last time. 'Then, you put it in a pile next to you. Once we think we have grabbed enough moss, we can roll them up into balls and carry them back to camp,"

Goldpaw- Training patrol with Cloverfur
Goldpaw traveled with his mentor toward the moss patch. Goldpaw wanted to do better than he did last session, even if the idea of collecting moss doesn’t sound too exciting to him. The young tom hoped that this time around he wouldn’t get distracted again. Maybe collecting these moss will prove to be a far easier task than trying to do the hunting crouch? As he watched and listened to his mentor, his thoughts drifted off to the strange dreams he had been getting the past few nights. Each time Goldpaw have these dreams, he never felt like these dreams are his own although Goldpaw doesn’t understand why. Why is he beginning to feel like his dreams aren’t his own? How can he feel out of place in his own dreams? Why is he getting these type of dreams so often now? The more Goldpaw ponders about these questions he doesn’t yet have the answers to, the more distracted he became until he was no longer listening to his mentor.

Shinekit was playing joyfully with her siblings. What a luck she had to have such a big family! Right now, Shinekit was Shinestar. The leader of her family, no, of Plumclan whole! "Me, Shinestar, declare that..." she raised her eyes to the sky in a thoughtful way. "You all will be on patrol with me. Let's go and see Yewclan! I wanna explore their territory and climb the highest tree! Yes, that is my order." She flicked her tail like she'd seen the warriors do when giving orders, then turned around and started trotting casually in circles with her siblings behind. After a while, however, it was starting to become boring. She wanted to climb a tree with Hatchkit, who was the most enthusiastic about it, but she knew she needed mom's approval for that. She turned to the gray kit and asked: "Dustkit, where's Rindlestripe? We need to find her!" She prodded him with her paws, more impatient than ever. She couldn't see her in the nursery, and she didn't want to put her muzzle in the warriors' den. Maybe she was out on a real patrol? lazzylake

Cloverfur - Training Patrol with Goldpaw
Cloverfur could tell that Goldpaw wasn't paying attention. This was starting to get concerning. By now Cloverfur knew that it couldn't be Goldpaw trying to annoy him, because he could tell he was trying. But he still wasn't focusing! It had to be something else. I thought a tougher patch would bring Goldpaw's attention on his work, but I guess not. Cloverfur would have to talk to Fawnstar about this.
"Goldpaw!" Cloverfur said, flicking the toms side with his tail. "Do you know what I just told you?" He said, not unkindly. He wasn't trying to reprimand Goldpaw, but he wanted to know what was wrong. If Goldpaw would tell him, than maybe they could talk about then collect moss. Or talk about it while collecting moss. That seemed like a better plan, but he still needed Goldpaw to tell him what was going on!

Cloverfur - Ensnares Rindlestripe with a charming smile (++rom) & Feels like Rindlestripe is ignoring him (-)
Cloverfur was sitting in camp after another difficult training session with his apprentice. Goldpaw seemed to be trying, but the tom just couldn't focus on the session! Cloverfur wasn't sure what was going on, but he hoped his apprentice was okay. He had given Goldpaw the rest of the day off after telling him to drop off the moss they had gathered in the medicine den.
It was where he was sitting that he saw Rindlestripe. The tom was a few moons older than Cloverfur was, but they had brought four kits back to Plumclan! Everycat wanted to know where the kits had come from, but Rindlestripe wouldn't say. Even though Cloverfur really wanted to know, he didn't want to pressure Rindlestripe into telling him. That wouldn't be very nice.
Cloverfur flashed Rindlestripe a smile, one of his best. He didn't know what he was feeling towards the other tom, but he wanted to see if it went anywhere. Would they become mates one day? Or would it be nothing? Cloverfur knew that Rindlestripe had been looking at him when he had smiled at him, but the other cat didn't do anything back. Were they ignoring him on purpose?

Goldpaw-Training patrol with Cloverfur
Goldpaw flinched a bit upon hearing his mentor’s voice, pulling him away from his thoughts for a moment. Goldpaw realized that he was getting distracted once again. “You told me to collect the moss like what you showed me and then…” Goldpaw answered, struggling to remember what it was that his mentor had told him. Collect the moss and then what? Goldpaw thought to himself. He didn’t want to look like he wasn’t paying attention or was getting distracted again. No matter how much he tried though, Goldpaw couldn’t remember what he was supposed to do next. Giving up, he then raked his claws at the moss patch, trying to get as much moss as he could before putting them down again somewhere nearby. The patch was tougher than he thought so he didn’t collect as much moss as he was hoping to. Goldpaw tried again, hoping to collect more moss this time.

Fawnstar »
The well-being of the Clan was an aspect to Clan life that every leader needed to take into consideration. If a Clan had low morale then peace could not be fully achieved. If a Clan was upset then annoyance could turn to anger, and anger could turn into venomous passion that divided friends and family. If a Clan was saddened then damp spirits could turn into depression, warriors dragging their heavy paws to perform tasks they cared little to nothing about. Keeping an eye on her Clan and taking into consideration every concern that was brought up to her was extremely important to Fawnstar. If any of her warriors brought up worries then she was determined to look into them; questions would be asked and judgements would be made. Fawnstar wasn’t an egotistical leader, but she did pride herself for having a steady head upon her just as sturdy shoulders.
As many had said before, an owl’s spirit resided within her. That was a part of her she would always carry.
Keeping in mind the tension that could grow inside an apprentice when being in the presence of a higher ranking warrior, Fawnstar kept the tone light and personable. She started simple, easing into the problem at paw. ”How has apprentice training been going? It’s quite a change from being a kit.” Whiskers curled with a hint of laughter, eyes sparkling with the memories of her own apprenticeship. Fawnkit had dreamed, had longed, of the day in which she would become Fawnpaw. It had been one of the most exciting days of her life, with so many questions finally being answered. Who was her mentor going to be? How was Oakpelt going to react when she was called forth in front of the Clan? Would Amberkit be allowed to train as a medicine cat?
Willowmouse had been announced as her mentor. Oakpelt had looked almost ready to burst with pride as his two daughters graduated from the nursery. Amberpaw had been allowed to train as a medicine cat. Not only that, but the whole Clan had celebrated that evening, congratulating the two new apprentices and feasting upon a bountiful of prey. Everything had been amazing that day.
Yet, as Fawnstar recalled upon her apprentice days further, it had been challenging to have distance grow between her and her littermate. She had gone from spending almost every second of every day alongside her sister to only seeing her in passing; it had been a huge adjustment, and Fawnstar was sure Willowmouse had grown tired of her apprentice’s lackluster performance the first moon of her training. Eventually she had grown used to it, but it had been hard following a different path.
Perhaps this was part of Goldpaw’s problem. The young tom had no littermates, but he had shared the nursery with Dustkit. Were the concerns Cloverfur had brought up partly due to Dustkit’s sudden absence in Goldpaw’s every day routine? That was something that could be easily fixed, all Fawnstar had to do was make the kit an apprentice as well, but she had yet to fully reach six moons. It wouldn’t be long before she did, but it would still take a little bit of time. If Goldpaw was anything like Fawnstar, he would soon relax into his new role and routine as an apprentice, but every cat was different. Not every cat adapted quickly.
Fawnstar’s tail-tip twitched as she leaned back in her posture, shoulders squaring and jaw tightening. Surely there was a solution to this problem. Surely this was something she could figure out. Surely once Goldpaw explained what was going on, the leader could solve this issue and guide the apprentice’s paws onto a better path of training with Cloverfur.

Border patrol with Duskfeather, Fogpaw, and Leopardpaw Gets distracted a lot lately
Rindlestripe was warily walking among the rear of the patrol, guise verging on the defensive. Despite being on patrol with three cats, they felt rather crowded. The deputy led as Fogpaw and Leopardpaw trotted behind. The masked warrior didn't wish to admit it, but they spent more time in the nursery now compared to patrolling. They were a bit rusty, and it showed. In addition, Rindlestripe felt like they were neglecting Fogpaw with their duties, even though it wasn't their intent. Did Duskfeather sense some disconnection between their bond? Were they put on patrol to be monitored? Rindlestripe huffed. They couldn't let their concealed guilt show. A familiar creamy brown pelt came into view, and Rindlestripe flinched like their tail was stepped on. It can't be. Their heart thudded against their fur, which was bristling with anxiety. An indescribable wave of relief flooded their senses as they tasted the air. This cat is not from a rival clan.As Duskfeather advised the patrol to stay close, Rindlestripe padded up apprehensively with their apprentice by their side. Intimidation wasn't the right approach here, as the stranger didn't seem to know they were trespassing. In fact, they seemed to have some unspoken gratitude towards the group. Curiosity edged the warrior's tone as they spoke. “Hello there. May we ask what you're doing on PlumClan territory?”
Thinks Shinekit is polite Talks with Beetlekit Ignores Cloverfur Rindlestripe was weary after training Fogpaw for most of the afternoon. The sun was sinking as they wandered back into camp. After sending their apprentice to get some fresh-kill, the patched tabby traveled to the pile themselves. There was still a variety of warm prey on the pile to choose from. Rindlestripe appreciated how much their clanmates caught to sustain the clan. But when the weather got colder, the prey looked noticeably scrawnier.
A startling series of thoughts crossed their mind. How would the kits fare during leaf-bare? What if they caught some incurable disease? Would some of them make it to their apprentice ceremony? No. I can't think like that. I’ll spend as much time taking care of them as I can. They probably are in need of a good meal. Carefully Rindlestripe picked up two small mice in their jaws. This should tide them over.
Something else made them pause just steps away from the nursery. Cloverfur was in the clearing, and suddenly, they smiled. A charming, lovable smile. The tips of Rindlestripe's fur stood on edge. They made eye contact before promptly looking away. Was the gray tom… flirting with them? Maybe he just wanted to spend time with the kits. Rindlestripe couldn't take their chances. Then he’ll be asking about their… other parent.
Shinekit’s voice echoed from the entrance. He’s looking for me. “I'm right here,” they purred, “and look what I’ve brought you!” Rindlestripe dropped the two mice near the nest and trotted up to greet each energetic kitten.
“Thanks for including Dustkit in your games, Shinekit. That's very polite!” The striped cat winced as tiny claws pierced into their shoulders. “Ouch! Beetlekit, you’re a very good climber, but I’m not a tree. How about you go over and eat that mouse? That’ll tucker you out.” Once they were sure every kit was counted for, Rindlestripe circles around and curled in a patch of sunlight that broke through the roof.
“How have your days been so far?”

Goldpaw-Speaking with Fawnstar Goldpaw thought for a moment about the question that was asked to him. He didn’t want to admit that training hadn’t been going well for him so far because of his recent distractions. He felt like there was still a chance that he will do better with his training later on in the future eventually. All he need was just a little bit more time. After all, it’s not like those strange dreams are going to last forever. Goldpaw thought to himself hopefully. Goldpaw figured that eventually he’ll stop having those dreams and then he can finally focus on his training the way he wanted to. Goldpaw can only hope that will happen sooner rather than later. “Apprentice training had been going okay for me. I’ve been learning about how to do the hunting crouch and how to collect moss.” he told Fawnstar. Feathertalon
