I have too many story ideas to write them all, so why not share them? How this works is that I’ll type up a story idea, and if you want to claim it for your own writing or other project, you just make a post claiming it. (If you use this for anything, you have freedom to change anything or add anything, and you do not have to credit me in your projects, unless you want to.)
FIRST STORY IDEA-Homophone/homograph world:
So basically there's a bunch of different groups of people separated by jobs. The groups so far are the People of the Rain, the People of the Reeds, the People of Lead, the People of Daze, the People of Dual, the People of the Night, the People of the Morning, the People of the Soul, the People who Soar and the People of the Sun. (The rule is that the People and the job are homophones or homographs.) The People of the Rain were an ethnic group that invaded the neighbors to start their own empire. Anyone who is descended from the People of the Rain are nobles or members of the monarchy. They introduced their own language and religion, based on, you guessed it, the rain cycle. They have a god for every weather, but the main god is the rain god. They believe that whatever weather it is, that's what god is in control of that day. They also split the year into different parts depending on the most common weather during that time of year (such as naming their version of winter after the snow god or their version of summer after the sun god).
The People of the Reeds are anyone who shows great skill in academics. They live in a large group of buildings suspended over a swamp. These buildings hold every record of historical significance. To become a Person of the Reeds is one of the greatest honors, but it's no easy task.
After all this, the People of the Rain have a problem. The empire is too big to rule by themselves. So they formed the People of Lead, who are the local rulers of each district. They wear medals of lead with the mark of the rain god to mark them as authority, hence the name. They are not a monarchy like the People of the Rain, but are chosen to be the heir after the current one dies and the heir takes over. The heir is basically the vice president, but they are usually much younger than the actual leader, and the heir is learning from the leader. The heir also has a lead medal, but it has no mark.
The People of Daze are the record keepers of this society, making sure people know what day it is for important ceremonies and all. They are called that because they are famously known to collapse in a daze after days of endless, monotonous work of counting every second to get the exact time.
The People of Dual are a group of fighters who represent people who are trying to settle a major argument. They work in pairs, and their partner, or Dual, is bonded to them for life. If one Dual dies, the other can no longer duel. Duals practice constantly, and are always ready to be called upon. Some teams are really famous for their skill, and are wanted by everyone. Others, not so much.
The People of the Night are strong military fighters, who are trained to specifically fight in the dark. They serve the People of the Rain dutifully and have a strong code of honor. They are often nocturnal, and when not in battle act as night guards.
The People of the Morning are people who have the grim jobs of dealing with dead bodies, whether burying them, cremating them or any other way. They are considered to be the holders of sadness for everyone, and are therefore treated with immense respect and kindness. They live in Morning houses, which are houses made completely of glass that lets sunlight fill the entire place. It is a surprisingly cheerful place with a tight-knit community.
The People of the Soul are shoe makers, and, since shoes are believed to keep your soul from leaking out your feet, they are considered holy keepers of the soul, and every shoe they make is specially bonded to the wearer.
The People who Soar are people who are too sick or too badly injured to live comfortably, so they are ceremonially, painlessly killed. They have special memorials, and are considered to have become angels who led people to the afterlife.
The People of the Sun are children whose path is still unclear. It is believed that everyone is touched by the sun by default. They spend their days learning and playing, like most children. They live in the Sun Tower, a lively, happy tower decorated with bright colors and Sun symbols everywhere.
SECOND STORY IDEA-Cat world:
Inspired by Warriors, but not extremely so. Many different groups of cats live next to each other in a thick forest with a city, a large river that leads to a lake with an island, and mountain with an underground cave system around the forest. The groups are the Blood Cats, House Cats, Night Cats, Wild Cats, Water Cats, Tree Cats, Gold Cats, Silver Cats, Bronze Cats, and Dangerous Cats.
The Blood Cats are the rulers of the area, and force others to comply with their rules through their love of violence and war. They made up all the rules applying to Night Cats and force Wild Cats to give them prey. They believe that every group has their place, and they should not intermingle beyond what’s necessary for their jobs. The only cats they can’t control are the Gold, Silver and Bronze Cats.
The House Cats are cats who live with humans. They have free reign of the city and can do whatever they want with any non-House Cats who wander in, but if they leave the city, they are allowed to be chased off as violently as the non-House Cats want.
The Night Cats are cats that have free reign during the night, but must hide during the day, because if a Night Cat is found during the day…well, it’s not pretty, especially since the Blood Cats reward anyone who brings them a Night Cat with prey or power.
Wild Cats are any cats who live in the forest either by themselves or with a few close family members and are required to, as a total group, give a certain amount of prey to the Blood Cats, they would slowly kidnap and injure Wild Cat by Wild Cat until they get the prey.
Water Cats are the only group of cats that live by the river and lake. They live in one large group that hunts for and protects each other. The older cats spend most of their days in the lake, fishing or just existing. Younger cats learn how to live in the water in the river, practicing fishing, swimming and water battle moves. Kittens and their parents stay on the island, and all cats sleep on the island. Water Cats are left alone from the Blood Cats as long as they stay at the river and lake.
Tree Cats are cats who live in the trees. They make nests in large trees that act as important places. Kittens, their mothers and elderly cats sleep on the lower, sturdier branches. They hunt birds and squirrels in the trees, and, like the Water Cats, they are untouched by the Blood Cats as long as they stay in the trees.
The Gold Cats, Silver Cats and Bronze Cats are all part of the same group in the tunnels in the mountain. The Gold Cats are the top dogs of the group. They live in the tunnels closest to the surface, and are the only ones allowed to leave, because they are the hunters and diplomats with the outside group. Silver Cats are religious leaders and they live in the tunnels that are holy to them. The Bronze Cats were everyone else in the tunnels. They live in the lower, darker tunnels, and they do all the work around the tunnels, from cleaning to raising children. They are forbidden to leave the tunnels, but that rule was, for once, not created by the Blood Cats, but by the Gold Cats.
Finally, the Dangerous Cats were anyone who fought against the Blood Cats or were either in a relationship with someone from another group or were the children from those relationships. They would be either exiled or executed once caught.
