 Scarletdrift - Is feeling motivated!
Yesterday Scarletdrift and Spottedfur had both retired, their last day of being a warrior. He hoped that the toms would get closer in the many moons they would get to spend together, and that any old feelings of resentment had been washed away. They could start anew!
Scarletdrift woke up that morning, stretching his limbs slowly. It was nice, yet strange to be able to wake up whenever he wanted now, to have his clanmates bring him prey. He wasn't sure he liked the second part, it wasn't hard to get to the fresh-kill pile himself, and his joints would still let him catch prey himself. Heck, Spottedfur was older then he was, and they had retired together.
Today he had some things planned. First, take a nice long grooming in the sun. Second, maybe go for a walk! Maybe not. Still undecided. I don't have a plan at all.
Well, it didn't matter. Scarletdrift got up and padded into the sunlight, ruffling his fur in delite. He closed his eyes, relishing the sun on his pelt. It was a really nice day, which showed promise for the upcoming season. Greenleaf was always a good season, and as far as he knew, nothing horrible had happened during the nice, sunny season.

 Cinderpaw
YewClan camp | w/ Frozenlaurel Brownie
Cinderpaw nibbled at the scrawny mouse between her forepaws absentmindedly, chewing slowly, but not tasting any of the fresh-kill she ate. There was too much on her mind for the young she-cat to focus on even the prey under her nose. It was probably for the best, when picking out something to eat following the dawn patrol, Cinderpaw grabbed the closest bit of food closest to the camp entrance. Obviously though, the best pieces of fresh-kill are never the first one's seen - this one was obviously tossed to the side. Late new-leaf brought such options though, so it was nice knowing that someone else who was actually hungry might get a better mouse.
Watching Hayfeather's warrior ceremony made Cinderpaw all the more keen to become a warrior too - and quickly. To Cinderpaw, it didn't matter that she was made an apprentice only 2 moons ago, maybe if she worked twice as hard she could become a warrior in another 2 moons. It would be incredibly difficult to find something to set her apart when the only other apprentice in YewClan was her littermate - there would have to be some sort of sign from StarClan, she imagined, for Cinderpaw to become a warrior in such a short timeframe and not her brother, Drizzlepaw. Cinderpaw swallowed the dry mouse and shook her head as though asting raindrops from her whiskers I shouldn't be worried about something vain like that. I just need to be good enough for YewClan to make a warrior at all. she thought to herself. Cinderpaw stared down at her half-eaten mouse. It wouldn't be the same without Drizzlepaw moving dens with her anyway.
Cinderpaw hadn't even seen Frozenlaurel before he was blocking out the sun overhead, and it was only when he spoke to her and Drizzlepaw did she snap out of her daze and practically jumped to her feet. "Woah!" she squeaked out in surprise before shaking out her pelt in embarrassment, working her claws in the dirt. She wanted to be upset but it was her own fault for not paying attention. Cinderpaw laughed half-heartedly, "Heh, hey...Frozenlaurel." She thought he was an interesting addition to the clan too, perhaps it was her own bias against being half-Clan but Cinderpaw couldn't help but be wary around him especially when he was always so....cheerful. Frozenlaurel's ability to fish though did admittedly pique her interest, perhaps learning how to catch even more prey for YewClan would be a sign to anyone in the Clan who looked at her sideways just how greatly Cinderpaw was devoted. Her emerald eyes shined at the idea, her confidence not shaken anymore, "Actually Frozenlaurel, I was wondering if you could teach me something interesting." Cinderpaw tipped her head to the side, "Could you teach me how to fish?"

BUBBLINGSTAR - Hunting with Pondspeckle & Hazelpelt! Seeing Spottedfur and Scarletdrift retire was a bittersweet affair. Every day he woke, Bubblingstar could scarcely believe how truly old he was. And seeing the two warriors who've been through nearly everything with him take their well-deserved rest... well it only highlighted how much silver now speckled his pelt. Yewclan was no longer the home he'd grown up in. Having an supernaturally extended lifespan had its perks, however. Bubblingstar had the freedom to leave camp, patrol, hunt in ways that would send a normal elder into an early grave. He might as well make use of it! Pondspeckle and Hazelpelt schedules seemed open, and he quickly scooped the two warriors up for an excursion. With the way Hazelpelt had been demolishing the fresh-kill before hand, he figured a hunt was in order. She wasn't much bigger than him, where did that food go? His whiskers twitched as he trailed after the younger cats, happy to follow his former apprentice's lead as he brooded. |

(I have the Haypaw response finished and am working on the patrol but I want to post them together. My motivation tanked yesterday and I fear I am a bit behind in my responses. I have a LOT I want to talk about after that though, namely Bubblingstar's retirement! jaybun! when do you think would be a good timeframe to announce his retirement? I'd rather wait a couple of moons due to getting situated with PlumClan. Also, more of a question for Brownie I haven't played clangen in over a year lol- How exactly do leader ceremonies work? I never had a chance to experience one in-game. Is there a whole nine lives ceremony or do they just suddenly get their lives? Will Dappleswipe have 7 lives passed down from Bubblingstar? Sorry if I'm bubbling over *heh* with questions I just want to be prepared for a smooth transition of power. Also personally for deputy choices I think Mistleheart or Slatefoot would be great <3 but of course, the game will have the final say.) |

If you two want to discuss when/how this will work? Please have freedom to follow whatever logic you choose! Give YewClan some new traditions/ceremonies and/or the mechanics of how lives work in their setting~ I know in one of my Clangen worlds, the leader travels with the deputy and all their remaining lives become that last life. So instead of giving a life for a life, they deem the collective sum of the remaining lives is enough energy to be one singular life, and depending on how many the leader had left, this "bonus life" can be very powerful or a normal life. In another, the leader keeps their lives, even in retirement, and the new leader simply gets nine new ones. I also have plenty of runs that the leader is not allowed to retire at all, it just isn't done. So it really is up to you! Go wild, have fun with it. The late new-leaf sun made the mornings a little more bearable than they had been, though not quite burning the dew that settled on everything in the forest before Thrushfleck and Cinderpaw went out to train. Her long fur caught many dew drops on their walk but Cinderpaw's long pelt kept the water from penetrating her coat though the little drops did feel cool on her paw pads. It was difficult to ignore the birds chattering with one another among the tree branches, and Cinderpaw craned her neck to spot any to maybe hunt along the way while following Thrushfleck, not as gracefully now. Her belly rumbled at the little movements around them as the forest seemed to awaken.
With curiosity in her tone as she continued to watch the birds hopping from branch to branch, "What exactly did you have in mind for training again, Thrushfleck?"Her ears were angled towards her mentor for their response but her eyes were wandering between the prey skittering through the forest as they move in between the dapples of light that formed from the early morning sun as it peeked between the branches overhead.

lazzylake Brownie Yeah I'm down to wait a few! Personally I think he'd definitely discuss it with Dappleswipe beforehand to see if she's willing & ready; and then probably go to the Moonstone equivalent. It could be interesting to do a complete life transfer! As a sort of drawback of stepping into leadership after a retirement vs death; the successor could have one missing life? I'm open for anything really!
edit;; I think the only actual "lore" I've contributed so far is the leader before Bubbling being named Cloudystar!

Dappleswipe
Training with Haypaw (LAST MOON)
Watching Haypaw get up from her well-aimed strike, Dappleswipe noticed an instant change in demeanor. The tortoiseshell lended her ears as Haypaw explained her frustrations and brushed a comforting tail against her apprentice’s flank.
“You know, I’m beginning to realize exactly why Bubblingstar chose me to be your mentor. No cat doubts that you're an exceptionally hard worker. But when you're pressured to live up to standards, you fall victim to fatigue. Just like I do.” Dappleswipe’s eyes gleamed with understanding. This moon, she was busier and more frazzled than usual. The deputy winced as she recalled her disputes with the medicine cats. Those arguments came from a place of weariness, when she wasn't thinking with a clear head.
In contrast, Haypaw was very mature and accountable to not let her spirits be eroded by her clanmates. Determination was her strongest ally. Dappleswipe got to her paws and stretched, focusing her gaze on the cloudy sky, then turning back to give a reassuring smile to the silver tabby.
“Thank you for letting me know what's troubling you. I hope you know to rely on me as your deputy, mentor, and clanmate. Remember that you have your father and Pondspeckle to confide in whenever the weight of working becomes too much. Drizzlepaw and Cinderpaw can assist you with your tasks as well.”
A light purr escaped her throat as Dappleswipe gave Haypaw a friendly nuzzle. “I suggest taking things in stride. Your ceremony will be here before you know it. Now, let's get back to camp, shall we?”
Border patrol with Frozenlaurel and Slatefoot
Dappleswipe made her way through the thick overgrowth in confident strides. She was glad to see the deciduous forest thriving during this time of year, and no matter how much the long grass annoyingly slashed at her sides, or how the dirt felt between her paws, she knew prey would be bountiful come greenleaf. Sadly, this wasn't a hunting patrol. The deputy was accompanied by Slatefoot and Frozenlaurel to lay a fresh layer of scent near YewClan's boundaries.
These two cats weren't the most common pickings for Dappleswipe to take on patrol, but the black tortoiseshell was admittedly desperate for a nice change in pace. Slatefoot was a warrior she hadn't talked to much after her father and sister's passing, and Dappleswipe regretted that fact. The black and white warrior was always quick on her feet, never backing down from any challenge. The deputy calmly turned their gaze to Frozelaurel. She secretly admired the tom’s casual playfulness with some of the younger cats, and especially his kits, who were now valued warriors. Perhaps Dappleswipe felt that pang of longing since she still viewed herself as a role model for Hayfeather.
Dappleswipe tried to keep her ears pricked, alert for any suspicious noise, but the sound of obnoxious honking drowned out any important sound. She followed Slatefoot's line of sight towards the flock of retreating geese, now looking like warriors of StarClan fluttering in the daylight sky. Quite a magnificent sight, if she said so herself.
Wait. A faint rustle of ferns caused the fur on Dappleswipe's ears to quiver. She waved her scarred tail for the two to stay close. If this was an adversary, they would have to fight it as a group. The wolverine that slaughtered Brightleaf still raked its ugly claws among the clan’s reputation, and even with a patrol sent to monitor its presence last moon, the confirmation of the lumbering creature’s departure was not set in stone.
Instantly Slatefoot leapt into action, darting into the bushes. Before Dappleswipe could order her to stop, the sound of a full on scuffle broke out. Great StarClan, don't take her too... The shelter of the bushes was too small for more than a couple of cats, but from the hisses and growls, Dappleswipe determined the intruder was indeed feline. A final screech confirmed the deputy's suspicion, as did the more aggressive rustling of the sounds of fleeing. Looks like Slatefoot won this battle today. The tortoiseshell growled and indented the dirt with her claws before giving in. "What's done is done", She sighed, still a bit weary that Slatefoot had caused a scene by not following her command. “But we should mark across this swath of bushes so our scent is more prominent,” Dappleswipe meowed as she swiped her whiskers across a nearby ash trunk.

Hayfeather
 herb gathering with shadepatch cometchaos
Hayfeather. Hayfeather. It was a beautiful name. The gray warrior found herself repeating it to herself whenever she had the chance until it became a tune, a mantra. A reminder of how hard she worked to reach this point in her life. How far she'd come. And it'd all paid off. She was Hayfeather, her brother was Pondspeckle. And really, they had their father to thank. Who knew where they would be, who they would be, if Laurel had never found YewClan. If he had decided against leaving his twolegs to find a safer home for his family.
She reflected on her warrior ceremony, the look of love and pride shining in her father's eyes. The warmth and relief she felt as she buried her muzzle into his pelt, so similar to hers. "Thank you." She mewed quietly, her voice overwhelmed with emotion. In the moment there was only Frozenlaurel and herself. The cheering of their clanmates muted. Hayfeather was more than grateful for the sacrifices the gray tabby had made for his kits. She was grateful for this new life he had opened to her. To be a warrior of YewClan. And the look of pride that shown in those yellow-green eyes, another attribute she shared with her father, sent determination surging through her. She would continue to make him and everyone else proud.
But what she hadn't been expecting was to spend her first patrol as a warrior out gathering herbs with Shadepatch. It was selfish, she knew, a warrior helped out wherever she could. They were all YewClan after all. Making sure the clan had herbs was just as important as marking borders or catching herbs. But it was boring. She'd already helped enough as an apprentice! Surely Stormmask and Shadepatch were tired of seeing her tabby pelt? Nonsense. That would just be too good to be true. Now the young molly trekked after Shadepatch, who was chattering like a songbird. Usually, Hayfeather would have reciprocated such friendliness. But her mood had been soured and she didn't feel like speaking. And by the time she realized how rude she was being, how guilty she was for ignoring the medicine cat, she felt that it was too late to reconcile. So she stayed quiet the rest of the way. StarClan, help me. Hayfeather thought miserably as she followed after the tortoiseshell medicine cat in silence for the rest of the journey.
✰✰✰checks in with shadepatch cometchaosHayfeather felt guilty the whole way after deciding to ignore Shadepatch. She hadn't uttered a word even after they returned to camp. But she could not bear to go any longer without apologizing. How mouse-brained she was. Shadepatch had never done any wrong toward her, and she did not deserve such rude behavior. "Shadepatch?" She called quietly from the den entrance before carefully entering. She stood a moment, silently, as she gathered her words. Watching the medicine cat as she sorted herbs, a task Hayfeather herself had grown used to over the moons after spending so much time in this den. "I wanted to apologize for earlier. I didn't mean to ignore you. I was being stuck in my ways, and I thought it was too late for me to say anything, I was so anxious." She was rambling. Her clear explanation dispersed into wild thoughts that she was desperately trying to grab hold of. Shadepatch didn't have many friends, just her mate, and maybe that was enough. But Hayfeather didn't want her to think that all her clanmates were rude to her. That they disliked her. "I hope you're able to forgive me. I can help you sort these herbs to make up for it, if you would like." |

A lot of people here post in the mornings which would be your afternoons, or at ~18-21 your time. Another peak activity is 3am for you. It's alright; the whole structure of this roleplay is intentionally slow, to give people in other time zones the opportunity to participate equally. Most scenes are a simple one time call-response, so as long as you submit your prompts ~24hrs before the moon, the other person should have time to reply that is convenient for them~ ]] |

 Shadepatch - Chatting with Hayfeather (whispering )
Shadepatch had been sorting herbs, when she heard Hayfeather call. "It's ok, I forgive you. And feel free to help me sort herbs if you want to!" She replied. She waited for the response, still sorting herbs. In the seconds before Hayfeather's response, she could hear birdsong coming from outside, and maybe a hunting patrol returning.

He hadn't meant to startle Cinderpaw, but she recovered fast. The grey tom's eyes went wide with surprise as she asked him to teach her to fish--one of the few skills Frozenlaurel was proud to have taught himself. "Of course!" He preened under Cinderpaw's attention, licking at his chest as an outlet to his excitement. "I'd be happy to share. After all, it would be a waste to not use every resource in the territory to its fullest."
Frozenlaurel was glad to finally have something to give back to Cinderpaw, after how much she'd helped him--knowingly or not--in the last season. "I'll ask Thrushfleck about it. Perhaps he would like to learn too!"
He hadn't been keeping the skill to himself, exactly, but he had wanted to have a skill that only Frozenlaurel could bring to the Clan, something that made him indispensable to the group. It was an unfortunate mindset that had clung to him like a burr since he'd left town: a cat that wasn't useful had no allies, there, and often went hungry because of it.
But that was then, and this was now. He hadn't thought of it before, but being a teacher of a skill, spreading it to others, would certainly be more value. "I'd be happy to teach anyone who wanted to learn."

YewClan Camp | w/ Frozenlaurel Brownie
Cinderpaw eyed the collar around Frozenlaurel's neck while he licked his chest. She never cared for that blue accessory, a symbol of his previous life under twoleg hospitality. Why the tom never tried to remove it always ruffled her fur the wrong way - Why hold onto a piece of life before YewClan? When Frozenlaurel looked up again, Cinderpaw's emerald eyes met his as though she was never staring at his collar in the first place. If she wanted this to be productive, she would have to look past it, for now at least. The apprentice definitely had the intention to ask Frozenlaurel about it later.
Her green eyes went wide for a moment when Frozenlaurel brought up inviting her mentor, "Oh! Well, I was thinking actually if we could just go now, you know? I'm sure Thrushfleck is busy..." She laughed lightly again. Truthfully, Cinderpaw did not want Thrushfleck to think she was getting hare-brained ideas before there was some sort of tangible, positive results - like catching a few fish with Frozenlaurel. She was unsure if her mentor would be interested unless it proved fruitful beyond what Frozenlaurel has already accomplished. Cinderpaw didn't even like the taste of fish! She only cared about getting a leg up on an assessment or greater recognition from her clanmates, why preemptively announce a new plan she had? "Plus, I've been meaning to catch up with you anyway!" she lied, sort of. It was only a lie if asking him about his collar wasn't considered "catching up." Cinderpaw kneaded the ground with her forepaws again, having a difficult time hiding her desire to get started with the new training assignment she brought upon herself.
[OOC: pls note, in the descriptions and stuff, Cinderpaw having a big head is def on purpose, that's not me trying to like, make her better than anyone else or anything like that. that's just how she thinks of herself lol] |

" Shhh. " Thrushfleck gently shushed as they maneuvered the brush of the forest. His keen and trained ears picking up on the sound of shuffling nearby. He pressed himself close to the ground to not alert the creature, pointing out to it with his tail. " See that Cinderpaw? That spikey creature right there? We need to be careful not to make it angry. Those things hurt. " he mentioned quietly. While they were originally make their way to the training clearing, maybe practicing the hunting crouch and get a few prey on the way back, why wait if he sees a learning opportunity on the way there? " I was gonna take us to the training grounds and work on your stances but... this is too good to pass up. You need to learn how to hunt these things carefully, or where to find their spines. That's a porcupine, and this things on its back are like burrs that can dig into your skin. As pokey as they are, the medicine cats can actually use them too, so sometimes we're requested to hunt them. Can you figure out a good way to get the spines off it without getting pricked? Just tell me, of course, I don't want to pick all the pokies out of your fur. " he let out a soft amused purr at the thought as he pulled her aside. Wondering of course, just what her young mind can come up with.

Cinderpaw stopped suddenly when Thrushfleck had gotten her attention, no longer concerned about the grumbling in her belly or the prey skittering among the leaves. Her eyes followed where her mentor was watching this strange creature. It looked like a huge mouse of sorts but with large round paws and long spikes that made Cinderpaw shiver at the idea of getting one stuck in her skin. What in StarClan's name could any cat want one of those spikes for? the apprentice thought to herself. Cinderpaw's confusion and concern were visible in her face, the way she stared at the creature with wonder and slight terror. However, she knew better than to voice it like a coward in front of her mentor. She never wished to give him a reason to doubt her abilities or confidence.
Cinderpaw stopped herself from working her white and gray paws in the ground, a habit of her's, while she sat in thought with Thrushfleck's question. Getting this...porcupine...stuck to a tree or something could work but who knows if their spikes were durable enough to stick through bark. Without taking her gaze away from their target, she flicked her ears in Thrushfleck's direction when she answered, "Do you think flipping it over onto it's back and then killing it while it's still reeling from the shock would work? They don't look terribly fast..." Cinderpaw observed while she watched the creature without a care in the world waddle it's way through the forest slowly and aimlessly in front of them. Stormmask - storms (herb gathering) with Heavy Stormmask had brought Heavy with her on an important herb gathering patrol. Lately, she had failed at gathering herbs alone— she couldn’t find a single leaf nor a single flower. She wasn’t sure what was wrong with her, but her duty was to collect herbs and care for her clanmates. If she couldn’t do half of her duties, was she really helpful? Either way, the thought of medicine was always on Stormmask’s mind. At the most recent medicine cat meeting between the four clans, she noticed something strange. BurdockClan had a new medicine cat apprentice. It appeared that this was Shadepatch’s replacement which troubled her. Clearly BurdockClan knew of Shadepatch’s graduation ceremony as Stormmask announced it last moon in front of the other medicine cats. But did BurdockClan feel threatened by it? Were they trying to make up for their losses? It left the dark grey tabby deep in her thoughts. As her copper gaze scoured the sky for an answer or a clue to her question, Stormmask noticed the clouds were dark as her own pelt. She glanced at Heavy, watching the calico as a raindrop splashed onto her nose. Their patrol hadn’t made any progress and now a storm threatened it. Stormmask knew if they chose to continue that they could risk their lives. With the amount of loss that YewClan had experienced recently, she didn’t want to bother with it. ”You’re right. I don’t think we should continue any further,” she meowed in disappointment. ”We need to head back now. His bones were tired and aching with pain from old age and the work he had done over the many moons. Yet he was resistant to retirement. What would he do as an elder besides sleeping in his nest and telling boring stories? He wanted to serve his clan, but now was the time for him to join the elders. Surprisingly, Scarletdrift chose to retire as well. In a way, it made the speckled tom feel at ease. He has his close friend at his side, a friend that he cared for dearly. Even then, he was simply glad that he wouldn’t be alone in the elder’s den. He and Scarletdrift would find something to do, something to make the rest of their lives worthwhile. ~ While sitting outside the elder’s den as he bathed in the sun, Spottedfur saw Shadepatch. She was a new medicine cat in the clan and he figured he would see more of her as he aged. Plus, Thrushfleck was her mate now. Nonetheless, he wondered if she needed some cheering up. ”Hey, Shadepatch! You’re doing a great job!” he called to her, his tail wagging like a dog’s. Later on that day, the silver speckled tom joined Drizzlepaw in the camp clearing. He took a quick glance at the apprentice’s fur and frowned. Why were there so many burrs in his pelt? Had he been crawling in the undergrowth often? Whether he hadn’t or not, Spottedfur decided he would offer Drizzlepaw some help. ”Drizzlepaw, would you like me to pick those burrs out of your fur?” he asked the young tom. Pondspeckle  Hunting ( jaybun! ) “C’mon! There’s plenty.” Pondspeckle said to the rest of the patrol as they padded along. He was taking them to the spot he always hunted at, a spot with lots of birds. He couldn’t wait to show them, thinking they would be so proud of him. As they walked, Pondspeckle noticed a strange noise. Or rather, an absence of noise. He couldn’t hear the birds chirping. He always heard the birds as he got closer. “Almost there...” Pondspeckle muttered, half to himself. Then he heard another sound that made his heart sink. A sharp cry of an eagle, and then another response. Two of them? He picked up the pace, and once he reached the clearing, he looked up to see two large eagles circling overhead. Great, just great. Now they’ll think I’m stupid! He turned around and told them what had happened. Sunbathing ( jaybun! , Sand ) “Do you regret retiring?” Pondspeckle asked Spottedfur as they lay in a clear beam of sunlight. “And, Bubblingstar... I mean, no offense, but you’re getting kinda... old. You’re older than Spottedfur!” The young tom pointed out. Do leaders retire? He wasn’t sure.

The day had promised to herald not a single storm when the two mollies had left camp. The sun had been shining as brightly as ever, the forest alight with the sounds of birds and the rustling of prey. But new-leaf weather was as unpredictable as a cornered fox. It shouldn’t have come as a surprise when rain began to fall from the suddenly dark sky.
At any other given time, Heavy might have suggested that they continue on and look for herbs while in the rain, but something about the way the clouds were gathering, the way they were swirling and growing darker and darker with every second, had Heavy on edge. Her calico pelt shivered, ruffling along her spine. Most new-leaf storms were over just as soon as they had arrived, but Heavy just couldn’t shake the feeling that this storm could end up disastrous, that if they marched on then something terrible could happen.
Heavy closed her eyes and drew in a deep breath. Flashes of gray fur splashed with rosettes decorated her mind. Shimmers of pale orange and white danced across her imagination.
Stemriver and Brightleaf.
The Clan had suffered too many losses for Heavy and Stormmask to chance the storm.
Turning on her paws the calico traversed the path that would lead them back to camp. The wind began to stir, growing stronger and stronger, the canopy above swaying with violent gusts. Heavy’s eyes squinted against the wind. She turned to look over her shoulder, relieved to see that Stormmask was behind her. The last thing they needed was to get separated in this growing storm. |

Dappleswipe
Pokes fun at Spottedfur/Chooses to share tongues with PondspeckleEarly past sunhigh, Dappleswipe returned from a hunting patrol, having caught a fresh vole in her jaws. She deposited the prey on the already overflowing fresh-kill pile and sat back on her haunces, licking the remnants of the kill off her lips.
Dappleswipe could hear a conversation well within earshot. Three cats were sprawled and basking in the new-leaf sun on a smooth rock. The tortoiseshell noticed the pelts of Pondspeckle, Spottedfur, and Bubblingstar. The youngest warrior was talking, and it faintly amused the deputy how casually he spoke to the eldest, most respected cats in YewClan as if he'd known them his whole life.
Bubblingstar...I mean... no offense, but you're getting kinda... old. Dappleswipe whipped her head around, freezing in place for a split second. StarClan, were her clanmates catching on?! The leader was the oldest cat in YewClan, that hadn't changed, but Spottedfur and Scarletdrift's promotion to elders made Bubblingstar's age... a little too noticeable for her liking. It was so noticeable that even the youngest cats in the clan were mentioning it. The comment compelled Dappleswipe to eagerly trot up to the sunning spot.
"Do you have room for one more?", she called, tail held high. To keep her mind off Bubblingstar's impeding retirement, she turned to the other cats, a purr starting to rise in volume. One always knew when Dappleswipe was about to make a terrible joke- the twitch of her whiskers and barely contained laughter gave everything away before the punchline. "Spottedfur, I say you made a great descision. No one will hardly notice you retired; you have a younger twin right here!" She motioned towards Pondspeckle, giving the identical silver spotted tom a friendly lick behind the ear. "You can relax as much as you wish while he does the hard work!"
Of course, She didn't mean this as a serious comment- she wouldn't say anything jokingly to a warrior if she thought they couldn't handle it. Still, she felt a smidge bit bad for Pondspeckle; he was trying to make a good impression! Dappleswipe ultimately climbed up the rock and started washing the rest of Pondspeckle's fur as compensation.
