BUBBLINGHEART A peaceful death. - placeholder - placeholder Death is an old friend for any clan leader. Bubblingheart recognizes it now, lurking in his shadow. When he lays down to sleep tonight, he won't wake back up.
He thinks he's okay with that. Bubblingheart has been alive a long, long time. This clan isn't his anymore, but that's not a bad thing. He couldn't be more proud of the community Yewclan has founded for itself, and he's sure Dapplestar's guidance will steer them well. His only regret is that he has to leave his own family behind, that it will hurt them, and he won't be able offer his shoulder to lean on.
Bubblingheart draws a deep breath, tasting the comforting scent of home on the air. The pale ginger tom rises to his feet, shaking his pelt free of invisible dust. His schedule was going to be packed today. So many cats to see before dusk falls! If he was quick, he might even be able to get in a visit with Peach; he hadn't seen her since he'd retired. Hopefully without anymore surprises, he thought with some amusement.
He makes an effort to spend a little time with every cat in Yewclan. But he saves Slatefoot for last. Bubblingheart will swear up and down to Starclan that he doesn't have favorites, but who he is kidding? She stole his heart the day she tripped over his paws as a kit. It had always felt like she'd claimed him as her mentor, not the other way around. What pawful you were, Bubblingheart thinks with twitching whiskers as he talks to her. He's tempted for a moment, to confide in her what he suspects will happen tonight. But he couldn't bear her last memory of him being of one of sadness.
Secret goodbyes wrangled (he'd even managed to visit Peach!), Bubblingheart waits until the sun sets to slip out of camp. The kits often visit the elder's den- he would hate to scare them. But in reality, he knows he's selfish. He wants the moment of his death to be private, for the morning after to be unmarred by tragic news. Call it a retired clan leader's desire to shield their clan, even if for just a little bit longer.
He settled on Rainfang's Point a while ago. The tall pine always made him feel close to the stars. Like it's tip scraped the Silverpelt itself, and any cat could climb its sturdy branches straight into the sky. Bubblingheart settles into its roots, exhausted by the trip. Who knew being an elder for just a few moons would ruin a guy's stamina? He used to be able to run back and forth over their territory for days without a break. He huffed a laugh, tired green eyes blinking up at the silvery moon. Her cool light bathed his chosen spot, it felt almost warm.
With a smile, Bubblingheart laid his weary head on his front paws, and said his final goodnight. @ placeholder @ placeholder

Amberkit ⋆˙⟡ ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ * Is basking in the sun * Apologizes after bumping into Shadepatch and they share a laugh about it * Is named an apprentice! But hesitates during the ceremony Amberkit stretched out on the rocks that hung over the camp ridge. The rays of the early morning sun warmed his pelt, and he smiled, thinking about how today was the day. He was going to be a warrior! Well... he was going to be training to be a warrior, but that was basically the same thing. Amberkit had been waiting for this day for six moons and it was finally here! He couldn't wait until the ceremony. The whole clan would cheer his name! Excitement tingled in the tips of his paws, and after a few more moments of relaxation, the young tom let his paws carry him around camp as he buzzed to and fro. Whether a fellow clan-mate wanted to or not, he was chatting with everyone who came across his path.
---
Amberkit blinked blankly as somebody said his name, unsure what to do with his paws. Earlier, they had carried him across camp, a dance he knew all to well. But now? Now they were like heavy stones, rooting his jittering body in place. Amberkit stared across the camp, his vision swimming with countless eyes of many different colors staring back at him. He felt lost, and took a few steps back. With an oomf! Amberkit crashed into a soft mass, and he turned around with wide, golden eyes to find Shadepatch.
"I'm sorry!" Amberkit squeaked, his usually steady voice quivering with nerves. However, seeing the familiar heart-like patches on his medicine cat's pelt brought Amberkit comfort, and the she-cat's laugh calmed him even further. Amberkit focused on her yellow-green eyes as they crinkled with amusement. They were more familiar to him than the sea of eyes crashing against his back, and Amberkit liked that. Feeling better, Amberkit found some of his usual personality hiding beneath his nerves and pushed it to the surface with a bold laugh.
"I suppose I'm supposed to receive my name from my leader, not my medicine cat!" Amberkit joked with a sheepish grin. Maybe the clan wouldn't notice his anxiety if he covered it with crude humor. He turned to finally face the cat that had been calling him, Dapplestar, and he received his apprentice name.
Amberpaw... The young tom felt the weight of responsibility hit his shoulders. He was responsible for the clan now, despite the fact that he had loner roots. Did this mean he had to prove himself before he became a warrior? Do I have to work extra hard? Surely I can still have fun... The tom smiled and tried to muster up more confidence as he pushed his thoughts away. He held his head high for all too see, but then he noticed that once again, the sea of eyes were staring at him expectantly. Had he missed the naming of his mentor? Amberpaw's eyes grew even wider as he searched the faces around him. Who could it have been? Surely none of the sick cats...
A sharp prod to the bottom from Hopbramble sent Amberpaw flying forward to stand right in front of Drizzlemimic. Feeling thankful for his mother, he met Drizzlemimic's gaze and reached up to touch noses with him. He hoped the rest of the ceremony would pass faster for his siblings.

Drizzlemimic- Is given Amberpaw as an apprentice The moment of truth had arrived. Hopbramble’s kits were about to become apprentices. Drizzlemimic doubted she would have wanted to stay, but, it appears he was very wrong. Now, she was entrusting the clan to train her offsprings. Drizzlemimic knew Dapplestar would find good mentors for each of her kits, and hopefully, Hopbramble wouldn’t rip their fur off. First was Amberkit. He looked a bit scared, which was understandable. Apprentice ceremonies can be quite stressful. Eventually, he conquered his fears, and Dapplestar named him Amberpaw. Drizzlemimic wondered who his mentor could be. There were plenty of great cats who could train, quite a few of which haven’t had an apprentice yet. What Drizzlemimic didn’t expect, was for Dapplestar to name him as Amberpaw’s mentor. The young warrior stood up, a bit shocked, but also ecstatic on the inside. Is she serious? This isn’t a joke, right? I have my own apprentice! He thought to himself. Of course, he didn’t let any of that excitement show, as he just gave a big smile. This was what he had been wanting for forever. He could pass along his knowledge to another cat! He could prove himself in the clan! He gave Dapplestar a quick thankful look and turned to Amberpaw. He looked a bit confused at first, but he eventually saw Drizzlemimic as well. They touched noses, as was tradition, but all Drizzlemimic could think about was what he would be teaching his new apprentice. Drizzlemimic- Training with Amberpaw Ok, so we start of with hunting crouches, then we actually try to hunt something, then, when he becomes a pretty good hunter, we move on to some basic battle techniques… or should I start with a tour of the territory first? Drizzlemimic thought. It turns out that the only thing he was proving was how unprepared he was. He hadn’t previously considered just how hard training an apprentice was. But he was gonna try his best. Maybe it would have been better to show Amberpaw around the territory, but Drizzlemimic decided to start with hunting crouches. I can show him tomorrow!
“Alright Amberpaw! In YewClan, we hunt many different types of prey, like mice, rabbits, voles, birds, and some of us even fish” he meowed, as he remembered how well he did at fishing a couple of moons ago. Ah! I gotta teach him to fish sometime! “And every different kind of prey has to be stalked and hunted differently. Today I’m gonna teach you a couple of different hunting crouches we use.” But before he could continue, Drizzlemimic couldn’t help but notice that Amberpaw was… distracted. Did he think Drizzlemimic was a bad mentor? Would he have preferred someone else? The young warrior couldn’t help but feel anxious about himself. Well, a good mentor would comfort their apprentice!”A-amberpaw? Do you feel alright?” Drizzlemimic- Was seen playing with a PlumClan cat over the border! Drizzlemimic was patrolling around the border, alone. It felt weird not to be with Amberpaw, but he felt like his apprentice wasn’t too big of a fan of him. So the grey and white warrior wanted some time alone. He really wanted to not disappoint Dapplestar and the rest of his clan… but maybe he’s just not cut out to be a mentor. His sister, Cinderdapple, was doing way better with her apprentice. She had always been more skilled than him. But he didn’t mind, at least not until now maybe. He was nearing the green pond, when he felt a PlumClan scent near the border. Probably just a patrol. Except, it only felt like one cat, and, on top of that, it felt like a familiar cat… Drizzlemimic smiled as he realized who he was dealing with. He snuck around, quietly. Just beyond the border, he saw a grey cat with a darker stripe on his back. He playfully pounced on Cloverfur. “You gotta be careful around YewClan territory, buddy.” Cloverfur was a friend from PlumClan that he made at the Gathering. They talked quite a bit there, but they hadn’t seen each other just out on the territory. “How have you been? I got an apprentice recently, so I’ve been pretty busy with him” he laughed. Drizzlemimic hesitated for a moment. Was he breaking the Warrior Code by talking with Cloverfur just now? No, he couldn’t have been. The code says you can have friends outside your clan, as long as your loyalty remains with it. He was still loyal to YewClan, he was just meeting with a friend! They talked for a bit longer until Drizzlemimic had an idea for a game. “You wanna race to see who’s faster?” Dawnpaw- Is named an apprentice It looks like they were staying. Dawnkit didn’t exactly know how to feel. He wasn’t a big fan of the clan cats, but it clearly wasn’t safe to leave with all these rogues running freely. Maybe if he got stronger, he could fight them, and avenge his father! Except, he didn’t even know if these were the rogues that killed him. Dawnkit sighed. He looked on as his siblings got named apprentices. First there was Amberpaw, who got paired it Drizzlemimic. Dawnkit felt at ease slightly that at least he wouldn’t be his mentor. Then was Petalpaw, who got apprenticed to Foxclove. F-foxclove?! She barely became a warrior! How was she gonna train Petalpaw, who needed extra support due to her bad eye sight? Dawnkit scoffed. His sister deserved a better mentor… However all the anger he felt suddenly dissipated as Dapplestar called him forward. And if was replaced with fear. Nervously, he walked forward, one step at a time. He looked back at Hopbramble, hoping for a reassuring look. Eventually, Dapplestar gave him his new name, Dawnpaw. It had a nice ring to it. Dawnpaw’s mentor was quickly revealed too: Frozenlaurel. Dawnpaw wasn’t sure how he felt about the grey tabby. He hadn’t had many interactions with him. He just hoped Frozenlaurel didn’t judge him for looking so… strange. He turned around one last time to Hopbramble, wishing he could have just been brave enough to just go through his his apprentice ceremony, and then turned back to Frozenlaurel. Shyly, he touched noses him, just like his sibling did. Well, looks like I’m a clan cat now too.Tagging tigersdoroar Dew Brownie OOC: (Hope I didn’t accidentally godmode Cloverfur)

Whisperingpaw Becomes an apprentice and is given Hazelpelt as her mentor! || with Hazelpelt Whisperingkit woke up this morning and she knew today was the day. She felt bigger, even if she knew that her growing was a gradual change and not one that just happened overnight. Whisperingkit left the nursery with a pep in her step, her eyes shining. She didn't know if the ceremony would be this morning or the afternoon (she had never seen an apprentice ceremony before) but she hoped it was soon!
Before long, it was time. Whisperingkit wasn't called first, and instead watched closely as Amberkit was called first. Her brother looked... nervous, and didn't seem to be paying attention! His mentor was called, and it took him a second before he padded over to Drizzlemimic. Whisperingpaw exhaled. At least Amberpaw didn't embarrass himself! Seeing her littermates acting nervous, it made her a little bit nervous. Was she supposed to be nervous? Whisperingkit hadn't been before but...
Petalpaw was called next, then Dawnpaw. Petalpaw had been apprentice to the new warrior, Foxclove, while Dawnpaw had been apprenticed to Frozenlaurel. Why would you give Foxclove an apprentice?! She just became a warrior!
Then... her name was called. Whisperingkit stepped forward, keeping her face calm. She was an apprentice now, not an excited kit! Dapplestar gazed down on a her then scanned the crowd, calling Hazelpelt's name. Whisperingpaw touched noses with Hazelpelt, her tail twitching in excitement. She was an apprentice! "I promise I'll be the best apprentice ever!" Whisperingpaw exclaimed, but only Hazelpelt could hear.
[[ Thank you again Brownie for the coding layout! I'll get Foxclove up next! also Clangen just said; sorry about Bubblingheart dying, here's an apprentice ]]

Heavy »
failed hunting patrol with coppersplash - asrise
Shadows flickered overhead as dark as the stripes on a tiger from legend. The air was cool and crisp with a hint of bite, fangs made of freezing water on the verge of turning to ice, harsh breath on the edge of turning into frost and snow. No sounds echoed throughout the forest as they once had just a few moons prior, but that wasn't going to stop Heavy. YewClan needed prey, and after her subpar hunting patrol earlier, the calico was more determined than ever to bring back a jawful of prey for her Clanmates.
The calico's jaws clenched, her shoulders stiffening. Not only was this her second hunting patrol of the day, but her third altogether. The deputy had led a border patrol earlier in the morning. Her muscles flinched with each step, her paws growing heavier with each step. With so few healthy warriors and a sick leader, Heavy had been doing more and more for the sake of her Clan. Just yesterday she had been on four patrols. She had to remind herself it was for the sake of her Clan. Leaf-fall changed into leaf-bare, and if YewClan didn't stock up on supplies now, then they would surely be in bad shape come the coldest moons.
The few times her and Coppersplash had come across prey, something went wrong, leaving both the mollies empty-pawed. A misplaced paw, a too slow strike, a yawn with teeth snapping back close...
Heavy was exhausted, she had to admit. But she was YewClan's deputy. It was on her to make sure that her Clan was safe this moon and the coming moons. A sick leader, an unwell Clan, new kits, and the death of a YewClan legend... They needed all the luck they could get if they were to survive these coming seasons.
Heavy was exhausted, but she was YewClan deputy. Her Clan's success depended on her success. Next time she wouldn't return to camp until she had food in her jaws and triumph in her eyes.
[ will hopefully get heavy's other prompts and slate's reply up later! ]

Foxclove Gets Petalpaw as an apprentice! || with Petalpaw & Dapplestar It was time. Foxclove gathered with the rest Yewclan to watch as Hopbramble's kits were apprentices. This was the first apprentice ceremony she was going to watch that wasn't her own, and she was kind of excited for it. If she was lucky she would get one of Shadepatch's kits as an apprentice when the time came, a few moons from now. Maybe her and her brother would get apprentices at the same time, and they could be mentors together!
Just a few days ago, Bubblingheart had died. Her father, the only parent she knew, was gone. She hadn't known when she had got up that morning, no one had known. Not until the first patrols were sent out, and he was at Rainfang's point, dead. He looked peaceful at the vigil, and she could almost imagine that he was sleeping. Maybe that was why she hadn't broken down like her brother, or a number of her other clanmates. Bubblingheart had been well-loved, and as the former leader of Yewclan, his passing had made the entire clan ache. The grieving cats were allowed to stay in camp until they felt the could continue on, and while she had been asked if she would like a moon or two off to process Bubblingheart's death, she hadn't taken it. Sitting in camp and thinking about it would probably only make her feel worse, and hunting and making sure the borders were protected would keep her mind off it.
When Amberkit had been called, Foxclove admitted she wasn't paying much attention. Even when Petalkit was called, Foxclove was still lost in her thoughts, thinking about her father and her brother. At least he gets to see Blizzardkit again.
Her name jolted her from her thoughts. She didn't know why she had been called, but when Foxclove saw all eyes on her, and then Petalpaw standing in front of the rock, Foxclove quickly connected the dots. Dapplestar was giving her an apprentice. But I don't think I'm ready! I was just made a warrior! She gave Dapplestar a look, because it wasn't fair that Petalpaw had been given her as a mentor. She hadn't even spent one full moon as a warrior yet!
"I'm over here," She said softly, making her way over to Petalpaw. This moon Shadepatch had told the clan that Petalkit's eyesight had worsened, and that she was now blind, or almost. Foxclove leaned down and lightly touched noses with the grey and ginger tortie. "I promise I'll do the best to train you to become the best warrior possible." Foxclove murmured, before she led Petalpaw to the edge of the crowd so they could watch the rest of the ceremony. [[ Clangen got mad at Foxclove for turning kits off, so they gave her an apprentice instead /jk ]] Foxclove Training patrol with Petalpaw || with Petalpaw Foxclove led Petalpaw out of Yewclan camp for the first time. She wasn't really sure what to do, but she had decided to go for a simple tour of the territory for their first day out together. It was the best thing to do, if you didn't know your territory you were a kit or a cat who had just joined.
"This of course is the entrance of the camp. Take in all the scents around you, as that will be your greatest sense." Foxclove instructed, hoping she didn't sound stupid. She was just trying her best! Why did Dapplestar have to give her the blind apprentice as her first one? Foxclove knew that she did really like Petalpaw, and was happy to train her, but this was a but much for her first time ever having an apprentice. She shouldn't even have one period.
The two cats traveled further around the territory, Foxclove pointed out landmarks and different paths. They walked around the training hollow for a bit, trying to have Petalpaw memorize it, as they would be spending a lot of time here.
Now they were heading towards the Plumclan border. Foxclove had already taken Petalpaw to the Burdock and Flowerclan borders, and this would be the last stop for them before they headed back to camp. It had been a long day, but Foxclove was feeling pretty proud of herself... until she caught scent of the badger.
Her fur spiked on end and she stumbled back a few pawsteps, flicking Petalpaw with her tail. "Do you smell that? It's a badger. They can be very dangerous, so never take one on by yourself. We have to go." Foxclove's tone was urgent, demanding. Petalpaw had to understand that this was no joke. Resting her tail on Petalpaw's shoulder, Foxclove led them back to camp, keeping her pasce brisk all the way. [[ Hope it's okay I said it was near the Plumclan border! I just thought it would make the most sense with Clover, Dusk, and Haven found one last moon ]]

CoppersplashFailed hunting patrol with Heavy Bubblingheart was dead. Coppersplash couldn’t say she really knew her, but she had the clan leader to thank for accepting her into YewClan. A strong and fair leader, that’s what she remembered Bubblingstar as. At least he had passed peacefully. She awoke the next day to notice that there were next to no warriors ready for patrolling today.
She could feel it before it happened. Heavy walked up to her and asked if she was able to patrol. Tired, but not wanting to disappoint the deputy, she agreed. As they made their way to the hunting grounds, she noticed just how beat the other molly looked. Heavy has been taking a lot of patrols lately, hasn’t she? And it showed. When they split up, neither of them could find anything at all!
Coppersplash cursed with frustration while a mouse slipped between her paws, leaving her landing in the muck after a failed pounce. Grumbling, she got to her paws and shook herself off. She met Heavy by the camp entrance with a shake of her head and nothing in her paws. “I got nothing… I’m sorry.” Heavy only grunted and turned away, also empty pawed.
Tags: Feathertalon (As Heavy) Thinks Thrushfleck isn’t being honest about their friendship Though the lack of fresh kill made the camp even more miserable, Coppersplash got up the next day, sneaking into the medicine den before any of the medicine cats could accost her. There were so many warriors here now… but she was only looking for one today. “Thrushfleck?” Coppersplash meowed as she crept up to him. He’d been bitten by a snake, though thankfully not a venomous one. I hope he’ll be okay, though… “Thrushfleck, it’s me, Coppersplash.” She shook her friend’s shoulder. Was he ignoring her? “I just want… to see how you are doing. Because we’re friends, right?” Right?

Cloverfur plays with Drzzlemimic on the Yewclan border || with Drizzlemimic Everycat needed a break sometimes. Cloverfur was still considered to be a young warrior, and he was training his second apprentice! Sometimes the stress of his responsibilities caught up to him, and he needed some time alone, away from his clan. Today had been one of those days. The nursery was full again with Blizzardkit, who was bound to be an apprentice soon, and Cherriberry's four new kits. Cloverfur wanted to be a father one day, Fogshard was already a father.
By now he had reached the Yewclan border, a clan they thought of as allies. He had a few friends over in Yewclan, but Cloverfur much preferred Plumclan's orchards over Yewclan's mixed forests. He sat down and just looked over the land for a bit, taking everything in. He took deep breaths in and out, even closing his eyes for a period of time.
Cloverfur could scent the Yewclan cat, but didn't fully acknowledge their presence until he felt the weight on his back, and the playful yowl of Drizzlemimic. The two had met up at gatherings quite a few times, growing close. Drizzlemimic was a bit younger than Cloverfur, but it didn't really matter. "From what I can tell, your on Plumclan territory." He purred. If they were caught, Cloverfur wasn't sure his clanmates would be to angry. Drizzlemimic wasn't a threat, and Fawnstar encouraged outer-clan relationships in general.
"That's great that you got an apprentice! If you need any help, just come as your good friend Cloverfur! I'm on my second apprentice, after all. Pretty much an expert by now." Cloverfur winked, putting on a posh voice and parading around with his chest pushed out. He looked silly.
"Do I want to race? Why yes, Drizzlemimic I do! Try and catch me!" Cloverfur said, racing away from his Yewclan friend. So what it was cheating he had left before they had counted down or whatever? They were just having fun! [[ my auto-correct really hates warriors. ]]

Dapplestar
★ Binds Hopbramble's wounds ★ (LAST MOON)
Dapplestar had difficulty falling asleep now that she was by herself. She missed the familiarity of other warrior’s scents, and the openness of the cave made her tortoiseshell pelt feel exposed to the elements. How could Bubblingheart stand this? It’s much too roomy here! The elder’s den must be a breath of fresh air.
Ever since Stormmask’s vigil, a series of thunderstorms had ravaged YewClan. Tonight was no exception. Howling winds began to rustle tree leaves and branches, annoying Dapplestar further. “Just my luck. When will these storms end?”, she grumbled to herself. She tucked her head into the moss until another sound caused the tortoiseshell to jump to her feet. Pawsteps hiked up the trail to YewClan’s camp. Then, a heavy thud. Great StarClan! What was that about? Dapplestar’s copper eyes scanned the territory. Rain blurred her vision, but she squinted enough to see the huddled shape of a clanmate in trouble.
”Hopbramble!” Immediately she rushed to their side, pawsteps skidding on the muddy ground. She assessed the dark tabby queen carefully. Scratches battered her pelt and an open gash on her neck made Dapplestar wince. No doubt about it, those injuries were caused by another feline. The leader lowered her voice; she didn't want to cause a ruckus to ripple across the clan. ”Your wounds need attention. Don't worry, I’ll find something from the medicine den to treat them.”
Dashing away, Dapplestar found herself stumbling over the sleeping patients to get to the herb store. The leader bit back a hiss as she nearly stepped on Slatefoot's tail, so dark that it blended into the night. After a moment's thought, she returned to Hopbramble with comfrey leaves and a sticky roll of cobweb clinging to her pelt.
“Believe me, I’m no medicine cat, but Stormmask taught me some basic healing techniques.” The leader worked efficiently, chewing the leaves into a poultice and licking it onto Hopbramble’s wounds. The bitter taste clung to her pallet, so she had to open her jaws to let the rain wash it off. Secondly, she applied the cobwebs, gently padding them onto the poultice. The herb juice should bind them together. Dapplestar paused and took a moment to gaze proudly at their work. It was as if Stormmask’s ghostly spirit tutored her.
Though she took her sweet time, Dapplestar’s meow suddenly hardened with urgency. ”Come into my den,” she offered. “It’d be best to keep your dressing dry.” She used the bulk of her weight to support Hopbramble up. All that blood loss must’ve made her lightheaded. But it was Dapplestar's mind that was spinning with questions. “Could you tell me about what attacked you? How far were you from camp?” Any threat to a clanmate is a threat to the clan.

Feathertalon jaybun! Sand Whorldusk (Bubblingheart's vigil, grieves heavily over Bubblingheart's death, Asks Slatefoot if Bubblingheart was a good leader, and chats to Monarchpaw ++). Whorldusk's beloved father was dead. When Whorldusk heard the news, that his father Bubblingheart was dead, he didn't believe it. How could he be dead?! The cat who raised Whorldusk ever since he was brought to YewClan's camp as a tiny kit, the cat who fathered him! Whorldusk just stood there in denial, his eye slits very narrow, and his muscles trembeling at the thought he will never see him again. MY FATHER CAN'T BE DEAD!!!It wasn't until night fell and it was Bubblingheart's vigil, when his death sunk in to the young ginger tom. As he walked slowly out of the warrior's den, head looking at the ground, he gasped with disbelief at the sight of his father's cold lifeless body in the clearing. He looked as if he was sleeping, and the most shocking thing to him that a smile was evident in Bubblingheart's broken body. As Clan cats came to gather around the former leader's body, Whorldusk felt his heart shatter into a million pieces. Whorldusk shakily walked to his dead father's side and nuzzled his ginger fur. He hugged him, and snuggled beside him for a few heartbeats. Once he realized what has happened, He stepped back, and then shrieked with horror. Whorldusk choked back tears as he wailing, wailing for his dead father, the cat who loved and cared for him, and was beside him as he slept as a kit. " DADDD!!!" Wailed Whorldusk NOOOOO!!!! I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT YOU!!! I NEED YOU!!! " Whorldusk lifted his head to the stars and cursed StarClan for taking his father's life. " HOW DARE YOU STARCLAN??!?! HOW DARE YOU?!?!" Dapplestar walked past Whorldusk and the other cats gathered in the clearing. She padded up the Great Rock, with her gaze clouded with grief as she gazed into Whorldusk and the other cats. As Dapplestar started telling the speech of Whorldusk's father, life, Whorldusk broke into tears, crying at Dapplestar's beautiful words, and his father's death. How he won't ever see him again, share tongues with him, and feel his fur against his side. The night has gone even darker than it was before, and the warriors of StarClan above Whorldusk's head has been lit out. Nothing mattered to Whorldusk anymore, nothing mattered except bringing his father, Bubblingheart back. Dapplestar's speech has closed, and Whorldusk felt sadder than he ever been in his life since his sister Blizzardkit was taken away by a hawk. Whorldusk padded to his father's side for one last goodbye before his body was to be moved from the clearing. Fat tears fell out of Whorldusk's aqua eyes as he brushed his muzzle against his father's fine ginger fur. " Goodbye dad...!" Whorldusk choked, as he chose to remain by his side. He was then asked to move away from his body, so Bubblingheart can be buried. At midnight, he stood there, frozen, unable to move a muscle from shock and grief. He refused to sleep. Two cats padded to Whorldusk's side, two cats he didn't really know that well. The dark gray she-cat Slatefoot that he saw staring at Mistleheart aggressively for some reason, and a newly renamed apprentice, Monarchpaw, from Monarchkit, and even earlier, Maplekit by her request. They came to comfort the grieving young warrior. As they tried to comfort Whorldusk, a question emerged in his mind. " Did you think my father was a good leader...? Whorldusk cried " I can't bear to live without him! I loved him so much!" After Slatefoot answered Whorldusk's question, Whorldusk talked to Monarchpaw for a bit, though not saying very much... He thanked her for being beside him. Suddenly, uncontrollable anger flared inside of Whorldusk's stomach. HOW DARE MY FATHER IS DEAD!!! HOW DARE HE DIED!!! Whorldusk raised his hackles and flattened his ears. " YOU TWO!!! GO LEAVE ME ALONE!!! SHOO!!! I NEED MY DAD BACK!!" Yowled Whorldusk " Or else, I might claw at you! DON'T even offer up me prey! I DON'T CARE FOR THEM!!! " He needed time alone, without contact from anycat.... How COULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED?!?!

Heavy »
spends time watching fish migrate & regrets giving foxclove an apprentice - @ -
The soft bubbling of Rushing Creek sprinkled a sensation of peace throughout Heavy. From the moment she had been able to leave YewClan’s camp all those seasons ago and travel to this particular spot, she had had a fondness for the creek that split YewClan’s territory with the infamous FlowerClan’s territory. Rushing Creek filled her with all sorts of memories, most of them now bittersweet. Once upon a time her laughter had spilled here, bubbling over with joy that mixed with the soft sound of Stemriver’s own laughter. The two had visited this area a lot over the moons, whether it be due to Stemriver’s own fondness for the creek, or due to the fact that the creek allowed him a brief glance into the fields and plains he had been born into.
Heavy’s blue eyes glanced upward, scanning the wide-open expanse of FlowerClan’s territory that she could see between the wilting cattails and watery reeds.
Stemriver had such conflicted feelings about those rolling hills and open landscape. Heavy understood why he felt the way he had. She was sure she’d feel the same if she had ever been in his paws.
The calico breathed out a puff of air, lowering herself to the ground. Oh, how she wished Stemriver was still with her, still at her side. Clanlife had never been easy, but the least few seasons had been so full of surprises both bad and good and Heavy knew she wasn’t about to keep up with all of it like she once had. Age was catching up to her, she could feel it. She wasn’t as old as Scarletdrift or Spottedfur, wasn’t as old as…
Bubblingheart.
The old tom had been found lying peacefully on the ground, breathing no longer and faded from life. Heavy had never been extremely close to the former leader, but her daughter was. Her daughter had been infatuated with the former leader since she had been able to leave the nursery. Bubblingheart had gone serenely, no sickness, no injury. He had lived a full, long life, getting to see two of his kits be named as YewClan warriors. He had lived life to the fullest, but that didn’t make his passing any easier. Before leaving camp Heavy had noticed her daughter curled up in the back of the warriors’ den. She needed to check in on Slatefoot once she returned back to camp. But she couldn’t return home just yet. Her paws weren’t quite ready to head back home. Clanlife was just too hard right now. Heavy needed this momentary peace by the water.
Not only had Bubblingheart taken his final breath, but now a great portion of the Clan was either stricken by grief or dealing with the rattling lungs of whitecough. Dapplestar had fallen to both, her sorrow over Bubblingheart’s demise accompanied by the struggle of illness. Heavy had been doing all she could to lead the Clan in their time of need, but all she was doing was wearing herself thin, doing too much and wearing herself out. She needed a break, but with so few able-bodied cats at the moment and as YewClan’s deputy, she couldn’t afford a break.
What she was doing now was as much as she could afford.
Away from camp and allowed to focus on her own thoughts, Heavy couldn’t stop herself from thinking about the Clan’s newest apprentices, Hopbramble’s kits. With so many cats either ill or grieving Bubblingheart’s loss, Heavy only had so many cats to pick from to become mentors. Foxclove had been one of those cats, figuring that the late leader’s daughter would make for a decent mentor, but she had only been named a warrior just a moon ago. Was she truly ready, truly experienced enough, to train a ‘paw? Especially Petalpaw? When Heavy had suggested to Dapplestar to make Foxclove a mentor, she had assumed the leader would assign the young warrior a less…challenging apprentice. Perhaps Dapplestar’s whitecough had muddled her brain.
Perhaps Foxclove would prove her doubts wrong and become the perfect mentor for Petalpaw. Afterall, she was Bubblingheart’s daughter and Slatefoot’s former apprentice.
A splash from the creek pulled Heavy from her thoughts. Her eyes drifted toward the water where a school of fish swam up the creek, migrating toward their breeding grounds. Not a worry clouded their eyes only one single goal on their mind. Perhaps she’d catch one before heading back to camp, but for now, Heavy was content on just watching them swim upriver.
Slatefoot »
grief stricken over bubblingheart's death & speaks with mistleheart about her kits - Sapphirejas
”Bubblingstar! Bubblingstar! Why don’t I have longer fur? Bubblingstar, are you my dad?”
Seasons had passed since that fateful day in which she had stampeded her way to Bubblingheart - Bubblingstar then - and bombarded him with questions. She had been such an innocent, naive kit back then, still unaware that Stemriver had fathered her, unaware that Bubblingstar and Heavy had never had any romantic feelings toward one another. Doe-eyed and imaginative, the then named Slatekit had wrapped her small body around the former leader, asking passionately if she could become an apprentice at just a few moons old, asking if he could become her mentor. She had tripped over his paws right after asking him to train her.
How young and innocent she had been. How healthy and alive Bubblingheart had been.
Bubblingheart looked so small in death. Peace was forever etched onto his face as he stared blindly out to the outskirts of camp.
Slatefoot’s claws unsheathed, her heart a frantic bird, panicked, desperate to escape the cage that was her ribs. The fur along her spine bristled, a warning of what was to come as she leaned forward, mustering all her courage to press her nose into his pelt.
The chill of death swept over her in a violent wave as her nose touched Bubblingheart’s orange pelt.
This wasn’t right. This wasn’t fair. She knew Bubblingheart had lived a long and fulfilling life, but she still needed him. Slatefoot had never gone a day without him. His kits still needed him. Whorldusk and Foxclove had only just been named warriors. How could they navigate their new responsibilities without the guidance of their father?
How could she continue to be a warrior without Bubblingheart to be there with her?
The coldness of his body jolted her back. Her jaws parted, breath escaping quickly, hotly. Their conversation just two sunrises ago had been so normal, so casual. How had she not realized he was on his way to StarClan? How had she not realized how heavy his eyes had been, how sagged and worn his shoulders had appeared? Slatefoot didn’t even think to thank him for all he had done for her. She hadn’t even told him that she loved him, that he had been a father to her.
Slatefoot’s throat closed as a sob shook her body. She needed to stay here and sit vigil, needed to stand by his body and protect it until the sun rose, but seeing him here, looking at the tom who she had looked up to since the beginning, looking so small, so fragile, so unlike the tom she had learned everything from…it was too much. It was too much.
StarClan, forgive me.
Bubblingheart, forgive me.
A real warrior would have stayed with Bubblingheart the entire night. A true warrior would have remained at his side until he was taken away by the elders.
Slatefoot was not a warrior tonight. Tonight, she was a coward.
It wasn’t the warriors’ den that her paws led her to. Instead, she found herself surrounded by the scents of warm milk and soft moss. She found herself engulfed by the sounds of youthful purrs and tiny mewls. In the far corner lay her brother’s new litter, but it was not the comfort of Shadepatch that Slatefoot sought out. No, it was the presence of another cat.
Heavy paws stilled as she slumped near Mistleheart’s nest. Even if she and the white warrior would never be mates, Slatefoot still found a comfort in Mistleheart that she found in no other cat.
A whimper rolled from her throat. She nuzzled into the familiar comfort of her friend. A moment passed until eventually all she could murmur was, ”Your kits are never going to know who Bubblingheart was…”

Amberpaw ⋆˙⟡ ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ * Is Quiet during training with drizzlemimic Amberpaw gathered close to Drizzlemimic, ready to shake off this morning's awkward apprentice ceremony. Amberpaw still wasn't sure how to process his own nerves, nor his surprise at his sister Petalpaw's young mentor assignment in Foxclove. His jaw had dropped open at the announcement, and being unable to control his own emotions in front of the clan this morning was really starting to gnaw at him. It had been quite awhile since the ceremony, and Amberpaw's pelt continued to burn hot with embarrassment. The young apprentice was pretty sure that he had saved himself from humiliation, but he had never acted so helpless like that before. It had been an uncharacteristic feeling for Amberpaw, and he wanted to be rid of the feeling's lingering shadow.
Well... Drizzlemimic is probably going to start with a tour of the territory, Amberpaw thought. I'll be able to distract myself with that. I won't have to talk... just listen. It will be perfect!
“Alright Amberpaw! In YewClan, we hunt many different types of prey, like mice, rabbits, voles, birds, and some of us even fish” To Amberpaw's horror, Drizzlemimic wanted to start with hunting training.
Amberpaw froze again as Drizzlemimic continued, suddenly realizing that this meant that Drizzlemimic's eyes were going to be watching him again, probably waiting for him to really screw up. The tom frowned, getting lost in insecurity.
“And every different kind of prey has to be stalked and hunted differently. Today I’m gonna teach you a couple of different hunting crouches we use," Drizzlemimic innocently droned on, but with every word, Amberpaw's frown grew larger and his gaze more dazed. He was starting to feel overwhelmed.

Foxclove Misses the warmth Bubblingheart brought to her life || with n/a Foxclove woke up on what seemed to be a warm, clear, peaceful leaf-fall day. Something, she admitted, seemed a little off. It felt as though something was missing, but that couldn't be! She didn't lose anything, there hadn't been anything she had needed to take care of... right? Leaving the warriors' den, (that still felt weird!) Foxclove stretched out her back, her eyes closed, soaking up the sunlight.
Foxclove opened her eyes, only to see the dawn patrol padding back into camp, sullen faces and bowed heads. Bubblingheart was being held up between them, he looked like he was... sleeping. His eyes were closed, and a smile was creeping up on his face. There was a stillness about Bubblingheart, something that seemed off.... Then she realized that he wasn't breathing.
Her father was dead.
Shock kept her rooted to the spot, and Foxclove knew when the rest of the clan realized it too. They're were shocked murmurs, a few wails of despair. Foxclove just felt... cold. There wasn't a crashing sense of grief that Foxclove might have expected, and she was able to last the entire vigil. Her brother, Whorldusk (and now the only family she still had in the clan) was crushed by grief, which had taken its own toll on him. Her mentor, Slatefoot, couldn't even last the entire vigil, leaving shortly after it started.
Foxclove was sad, sad that she would never see him alive again, sad that she would never feel the warmth of his fur against her own. Sad he would never be there for her when she felt sad and guilty over Blizzardkit's death. Mostly, she felt cold. She wanted her father back! She had never noticed how warm Bubblingheart had made her feel, how he always seemed to have time for her, even when he was leader. She had always taken for granted that warmth, but how it was gone.
At least he was there when I got my warrior name. At least he gets to see Blizzrdkit again.
She sat with Bubblingheart all night, and watched as his tail disappeared from view. The last she would see of him. Then she retreated into the warriors' den, padding down to sleep.

Scarletdrift Shares a meal with Coppersplash (++) || with Coppersplash Scarletdrift had woken up the day of Bubblingheart's death, peaceful, like most cats were. It was like Bubblingheart's last gift to his clan, letting them have a peaceful morning before they noticed that he was gone. Poor Spottedfur, his daughter had died last moon, the heat exhaustion and mangled tail was just too much for Stormmask. Losing children was a feeling that Scarletdrift knew all too well, and he knew exactly what Spottedfur was going through.
Scarletdrift was the first one who had noticed that Bubblingstar was missing. He was getting older, and he couldn't remember whenever the oldest elder had joined them to sleep last night. For some reason Scarletdrift thought he hadn't, but that couldn't be right.
From there Scarletdrift had gone to Dapplestar, but the dawn patrol had already returned with Bubblingheart's body. At his vigil Scarletdrift told stories of the days where they were both young, when Bubblingheart had been Bubblingstar, the new leader of Yewclan. Then, Scarletdrift had been a younger warrior, with both of his kits still alive.
It had been a few days since then, with Hopbramble's kits having been apprenticed one sunrise ago. Some of the mentor choices had been... questionable, with the newest warrior Foxclove having gotten the blind apprentice Petalpaw. No offense to Petalpaw, but training a blind apprentice would be hard, even if you were an older and more experienced warrior. Scarletdrift was sure that there were better choices, including Coppersplash.
Scanning the camp, Scarletdrift saw Coppersplah sitting alone. His own belly rumbled, and he padded over to the fresh-kill pile, picking up a rather plump rabbit, considering it was leaf-fall.
Making his way over to Coppersplash, Scarlerdrift sat down and dropped the rabbit at their paws. "Do you want to share with me?" [[ OOC here ]]

CoppersplashShares a meal with Scarletdrift
Coppersplash looked up to see Scarletdrift… and more importantly, the plump rabbit he was holding. Her mouth watered. I haven’t had a good meal in a while! Not since Bubblingheart’s death… “Yes, please!” She meowed. Scarletdrift wasn’t exactly her choice of partner, especially after the fiasco with Puddlekit, but she didn’t mind.
So she settled down, sharing the rabbit with the elder tom. “Do you think Thrushfleck is avoiding me?” She asked suddenly, her mouth already half full of rabbit. “ ...Am I annoying, Scarletdrift? Be honest.” She waited for his response, hoping he wouldn’t be weirded out by the question. “I’m sorry, it’s just been on my mind ever since… Well, ever since I moved here from BurdockClan.”

Hayfeather // Grieves for Bubblingheart
“Bublingheart is missing!”
The alarmed yowl rang throughout his ears, and panic made every cat’s fur prickled as YewClan searched high and low for their former leader. The old tomcat was no where to be found in the camp. And his whereabouts weren’t discovered until they began to scope the territory. Hayfeather amongst them. But no cat could have prepared for what they found.
There the old ginger and white cat lay, in a makeshift nest curled up as if he were sleeping. A peaceful expression on his grizzled face. “He… he’s sleeping.” Hayfeather had stammered, his voice barely a whisper. But no cat had answered. The air hung thick with grief and the warriors grew solemn. Bubblingheart would never rouse from his slumber this time.
Solemn and grim, the patrol retrieved their leaders corpse and made the silent return back to camp.
The claws of grief in Hayfeather’s heart tightened their grip as soon as the wails of dismay filled the air. Bubblingheart was dead.
Death was inevitable. No creature would ever escape death. Whether accident or naturally, all living things would succumb to death eventually. But Hayfeather wasn’t prepared for the pain that accompanied it. He wasn’t prepared for the grief the living would suffer while watching their loved ones transition to StarClan.
The night of the vigil was no better. The air was thick with the emotions of grieving clancats. Or perhaps the storm. It had rained all that day, as if the sky itself cried for the loss of a great leader.
Hayfeather watched sadly, as his sniffling clanmates shared their stories and memoirs for the old ginger and white cat. His heart breaking especially for Whorldusk and Foxclove, Bubblingstar’s only kits. He wondered if Bubblingheart’s other kin were watching the memorial from StarClan. Were they happy to be reunited with their kit? Was he just as happy? At least, he would be with Blizzardkit now.(hehe)
Chartreuse-colored eyes searched the many grieving faces; Bubblingheart’s apprentice, Slatefoot; his deputy for seasons, the now Dapplestar; his denmates he would leave behind in the elder’s den; and the many, many heartbroken YewClan warriors.
The gray tabby rose, on shaky paws, his eyes wet with tears. But he put on a brave face as he swallowed the stone in his throat, and thought of words to express for the leader. “He was not our kin, but he loved us all just the same. He accepted us, he took us in when no one else would, he persevered time and time again to protect his clanmates. Bubblingheart pledged to YewClan with undying loyalty and he-“ A choking cry escapes the young cat, “He will be missed. The tale of the kind-hearted leader will be told for many moons to come.”
Hayfeather turned, and buried his face into his father’s shoulder for the rest of the night. Silent, hiccuping cries making his whole body shake. When the vigil was over, and dawn light began to peak through the clouds, Hayfeather touched his nose the the old cat’s fur one last time before the elder’s set off for his burial.
When he returned to the warrior’s den, sleep did not come easily for Hayfeather. The tom tossed and turned, whimpering and waking up at the images of Bubblingheart that refused to leave his mind. But he didn’t dare leave his nest. Instead, praying that the plaguing thoughts would end. And that one day, Bubblingheart would reunite with his clanmates again.

Drizzlemimic- Training with Amberpaw Drizzlemimic could visibly see Amberpaw become more and more distracted, as his frown grey bigger. He didn’t even respond to Drizzlemimic’s question. This is all my fault isn’t it… If I were a better mentor, no, even just a better warrior… Not even one day in and I’ve already disappointed my apprentice! The more the young warrior continuously thought about it, the worse he felt. Maybe Dapplestar shouldn’t have given him an apprentice… I overwhelmed him… He should have known to not start with hunting crouches! It was all too much for a first lesson. He should have taught him something simpler first, something similar to how he started his apprenticeship. But now, he had to make it up to Amberpaw. He had to apologize, or encourage him somehow. Maybe he heard that Drizzlemimic was still a young warrior and thought he didn’t have enough experience to train him..? ”Amberpaw, I know you may not think I’m the best mentor, but I promise to try my hardest to train you in every way I can. You are just as capable as every other apprentice that has trained in YewClan, and I’m sure you will become a mighty warrior one day too. And if you mess up, that’s ok! I wasn’t perfect when I was your age either. You gotta get back up and try again. Eventually you’ll get it right.” Drizzlemimic wanted to reassure his apprentice and make sure he didn’t feel stressed. “Now, I ask you: what do you wanna learn today? Don’t feel pressured, take your time. It could be anything, just ask and I shall teach you!” Tagging tigersdoroar

Monarchpaw : wishes her pelt shined like Thrushfleck’s & her apprentice ceremony As Monarchpaw tried to lick her pelt clean so it would look decent for her apprentice ceremony, she noticed that Thrushfleck's ginger and white dappled pelt was shiny. Shinier than she could ever get her dark, dusky grey pelt to glisten in the daylight. With a disappointed look on her face, the young tabby stomped away to get in line for her ceremony.
~
Monarchpaw did her best to contain the energy that burst through her. Now that she was no longer a kit, she could explore all of YewClan! Her bright blue eyes danced with passion as she sat next to Cinderdapple, her mentor. She didn't know much about the grey and white she-cat, but she began flexing her claws as they itched to tear at something. I wanna do battle training first! That would be so cool, I could even brag about it to my littermates, she thought, her dark tail wagging behind her like a dog's. She wasn't sure where Cinderdapple was taking her for her first training session, but Monarchpaw hoped it would be to learn some battle skills. It was the only session she wanted to do on her first day.

Spottedfur : watches Dapplestar from the elder’s den, thinks that Cinderdapple is a capable cat & remembers clanmates that no one remembers anymore Instead of attending the apprentice ceremony, Spottedfur chose to watch from the elder's den. Between a snarl of shrubs was a gap that he could see Dapplestar from. The speckled tom’s eyes widened a bit with intrigue as each apprentice received their mentor. When he heard Cinderdapple got her first apprentice, his ears flicked gently. She’s a capable cat, it was about time that she got an apprentice. YewClan is lucky to have a competent warrior like her, he thought as he watched the ceremony.
Even though he had been given thyme to help with the grief, Spottedfur didn’t feel much better. He spent most of his days curled up in his nest. He rarely left the den unless it was absolutely necessary. He hadn’t been eating properly, but what was the point? Stormmask was no longer alive and neither was Bubblingheart. He and the former leader may have not seen eye to eye often yet he was upset about his death. He could only imagine how Slatefoot, Whorldusk, Hayfeather and Dapplestar were doing. The clan didn’t have many warriors available due to injuries and grief, so they were stretched thin.
Once the ceremony was over, Spottedfur let out a deep sigh, recalling the memory of Stormmask’s apprentice ceremony. He even thought of Beesong and Frostfleck, whose warrior ceremonies were a vivid memory for him. Not many cats who knew the two sisters would remember them— they were either too young or gone. Just the thought of all their lost clanmates made his throat feel tight with misery. He laid back down into his nest, sorrow enveloping him.

HAZELPELT Made Whisperingpaw's mentor! - x - x Hazelpelt sat proudly between her fellow mentors-to-be. The tiny molly could scarcely believe she was being given another apprentice! And so soon after Whorldusk's naming. Dapplestar hadn't told her exactly which of Hopbramble's kits she'd be given, but it hardly mattered. After all, it meant Hazelpelt had not only done a good job training Whorldusk- but everyone else knew it.
Though, as she glanced at the warriors at her sides, she had to wonder if it was a wise choice giving so many inexperienced cats a paw'. Hopefully, Shadepatch's kits would be apprenticed soon. She'd feel a little better with another experienced mentor to have her back. Frozenlaurel certainly had mad his feelings about her "expertise" clear during Whorldusk's training; and she could only imagine how well he'd take any advice.
"Hazelpelt, you will be the mentor of Whisperingpaw. I expect you to pass on all you know."
Hazelpelt perked up at Dapplestar's call, excitement fizzing underneath her pelt. She hadn't interacted much with the new litter since their arrival, but if they were anything like Hopbramble herself; Hazelpelt knew they'd be perfect. Stepping forward, the cinnamon warrior took care to gently touch noses with the newly named Whisperingpaw.
"I promise I'll be the best apprentice ever!" Whisperingpaw exclaimed, eyes alight with an eagerness Hazelpelt felt reflected in herself.
"I have no doubt about that," She purred, shuffling to make room for the grey-speckled apprentice to sit at her side. @dewbranch

Amberpaw ⋆˙⟡ ___________________________________________________________________________________________________* Is Quiet during training with drizzlemimic ”A-amberpaw? Do you feel alright?”
The young tom missed Drizzlemimic's inquiry, lost in thought and overwhelmed.
”Amberpaw, I know you may not think I’m the best mentor-"
Amberpaw snapped back to reality as Drizzlemimic continued on, now more confused than he had started out. Flattening his ears in panic, Amberpaw looked at Drizzlemimic with wide eyes. Oh no! What did I do to make Drizzlemimic think he's not a good mentor? What is wrong with me today? Not even a day in and I'm failing as an apprentice! In front of the clan and in front of my mentor! Where did all my confidence go? Why am I feeling like this?
Amberpaw began to panic.
"-but I promise to try my hardest to train you in every way I can. You are just as capable as every other apprentice that has trained in YewClan, and I’m sure you will become a mighty warrior one day too. And if you mess up, that’s ok! I wasn’t perfect when I was your age either. You gotta get back up and try again. Eventually you’ll get it right.”
Amberpaw took in each word that Drizzlemimic had, his panic growing into disappointment as the young cat completely misunderstood the true meaning of Drizzlemimic's words. If I'm just as capable as every other apprentice, does that mean that he think's I'm not acting capable now? Not perfect? What am I doing wrong? Amberpaw was hopelessly clueless.
“Now, I ask you: what do you wanna learn today? Don’t feel pressured, take your time. It could be anything, just ask and I shall teach you!”
Amberpaw looked away, avoiding eye contact with Drizzlemimic. The apprentice felt as though had already made things awkward enough, and the speckled tom was uncomfortable in his own skin. He really didn't mind the training his mentor had come up with, but this morning had just ruined everything, and he wasn't ready to move on. Amberpaw was quite sure that if he could just do something to distract himself from the many eyes of this morning that he could move on, but he wasn't sure how to ask for it. His inability to speak for the first time in his life lowered his confidence even more.
"Can we just continue the lesson as planned please?" Amberpaw managed. He didn't feel like this day could be saved, and was ready to return to his old nest in the nursery. The world had been less scary as a kit.

|| Thrushfleck - Chats with Puddlekit, chases sunrays, and gets bitten by a snake - /w: Puddlekit [ Brownie ] ||
Thrushfleck needed some fresh air. That much was certain, the morning patrols had just been sent out. Life continued on as normal, even with the burial that left many distraught this fine moon. Didn't he know it, but time always had a way of marching on. Whether the clan was prepared or not. He wasn't assigned, not this time- even though they were spreading their numbers thin. He wasn't sure why, but he wasn't going to complain. Maybe he'd still go hunting in an unofficial capacity and bring the prey back. He was itching to stretch his legs.. to run off the anxiety and fill his lungs with fresh air. There was nothing better than the feeling of the wind in your fur after all. After saying a brief hello and goodbye to his mate and kits he made his way to the entrance of the camp where a disappointed Puddlekit sat. He had heard the kit earlier, making demands and a big deal out of wishing to join the others on the patrol. Young, but eager to be a warrior. He could respect that- remembering a time when that may have been him if it weren't for his budding interest in herbs. He smiled fondly as he approached, stepping carefully around the kit. " Sorry little one, but you'll need to grow just a bit bigger before we can take you out there. Whole lot of scary things that could happen. Once your an apprentice though, we'll make sure to take you on plenty. So much so that you'll get sick of looking at all those trees. " he teased with a light purr. " Do me a favor and take care of your denmates while I'm out hunting okay? Use the time to practice defending your clan and building those muscles. I can see you've been working on them. "
He gave a resolute nod as a final goodbye as he turned and headed out into the territory. The rays of sunlight filtering through the leaves gave him warmth as he pumped his legs from a walk to a run. A calming mixture of warmth and chill from the wind and temperature alone as he ran. It felt good to relieve that tension, for his paws to make a game of finding the perfect placement on the rays as if he were pouncing on prey themselves. Though he had intended to come out hunting, he wouldn't be surprised if the ruckus he was making chased all the prey in his current area away. Ah well, he was having fun right? Well the fun only lasted until one of his backpaws slipped. The dirt around it giving way into a small tunnel. With a small hiss and a yelp he turned himself around just in time for his intruding paw to be caught in the striking jaws of a snake. Seems he had been an uninvited guest in that snakes home, even if it was unintentional. The sharp pain stung where the fangs pierced his skin, and instinctively he swatted the snake away with his claws. Fear rising within him and threatening to consume him as he panted hard. Watching the snake slither further back into the darkness of the tunnel where his claws could no longer reach. He.. managed to get out of that at least. Placing weight upon his hurt backpaw only hurt worse as he quickly needed to get back home. He needed to see Shadepatch- to see his kits. He didn't know if it was venomous or not. He wasn't thinking rationally, just of making sure he'd see his family again even if it meant pushing through the pain in his foot to another run. He just had to make it home.. he collapse there as long as he got to see Shadepatch's face again. 'Please' his mind echoed. 'Don't do to them what Stemriver did to me. Don't shatter my family again. Not now. Not yet.'Time and luck at least was on his side, collapsing in the medicine den out of breath would scare his family half to death, sure, but an examination by Shadepatch would at least prove to be fortunate. It wasn't venomous, and so long as he nursed the wound, it would be just fine. || Thrushfleck - Gets checked up on by Coppersplash - /w: Coppersplash [ asrise ] ||
Thrushfleck buried his head in his nest within the medicine den. Complicated emotions bubbling under the surface of Thrushfleck's ginger pelt. Bubblingheart had been found dead. His mate was still in not so great a position to heal with half the clan requiring assistance. Yet instead of helping, here he was. One attempt to get his mind off of... everything that had culminated resulted in him only adding more work to the pile. Memories of his father's death flashed beneath his closed eyelids as pain radiated from the pain in his ankle. If he were any less strong, he would have given in to the urge to let out a strangled sob. His pelt burned with further embarrassment and anguish as his mind turned towards his kits. They were beginning to get older- their eyes and ears opened and they begun to explore the world around them. He couldn't be prouder yet.. what kind of example was he leading for them? Being stuck like this? He sunk further in his nest, ignoring the sound of footsteps approaching him. His name was called, and yet he didn't respond. He wasn't sure how to respond. Would they reprimand him? Would they poke fun at the situation that was still too raw for even him to joke about? He was lucky, really, the pain hadn't spread further up his body in violent fashion. Though part of him does think it would save him the embarassment. " I want to see how you're doing. Because we're friends, right?" was barely registered by the tom as he blearily turned his head to look at the molly who approached. The worry behind her eyes only flared his shame further. He was worrying people by being like this. " Please just... leave me alone. " he finally stated. He cared for Coppersplash as a friend, it was true, but right now... he couldn't deal with others He'd just... have to apologize to her later for how it may have come across when he was in a clearer mind. Its not as if she would have known about the death of Stemriver that unsettled him so greatly. || Petalpaw - Apprentice Ceremony, gone blind ....also sticks her tongue out at Gingerkit - /w: Foxclove & Siblings, Gingerkit [ Dew jaybun! ! ] ||
The roar of the crowd was almost defeaning to the kit turning apprentice that stayed plastered near her mother's side. Scent, sounds- all the like were what she could really rely on. The blurs of faded colors were unreliable at best, her whiskers brushing up against the legs of clanmates wherever she went. Could she really do this? She was capable before wasn't she? Excitement and nervousness both ran through her very veins. Her tail flicking rapidly behind her where she sat as she heard her first siblings name called up. Amberkit turned Amberpaw, assigned to Drizzlemimic to care for and teach. Would she get.. someone good? Her thoughts were spinning when her head snapped towards the sound of her own name. Oh- was she.. to go second? She sucked in a deep breath, getting to her paws, and padding her way forwards carefully. The clanmates around her at least seemed to move out of her way as she made her way towards Dapplestar, the pounding heart within her chest only seeming to calm as she stood next to the leader. She was filled with youth and vigor, and if Dapplestar believed in her, than surely she could believe in herself as well. She held her head high, even as gasps and whispers surrounded the name that Dapplestar had called forwards... Foxclove. Was.. it a joke she had heard? Didn't Foxclove just become a warrior from another? Despite the odds, the odd pairing seemed to.. comfort her in a way. There would be less expectation on her shoulders than... some of the options she could have gotten. " I'm over here. " were words she heard from Foxclove. A voice she learned to recognize alongside her other clanmate's. Her head tilted slightly towards the source of the noise, though still stared blankly in the direction instead of on anything in particular. The words that came from Foxglove were meant to be soothing she was sure. A promise. Yet, enthusiastically she reached Foxclove half way in touching noses. Her responses a mixture of a whisper and a purr as Foxclove steered her away from the crowd. " I know you will- and I won't let you down. I'll do everything I can! "
In her defiance, she tilted her head sneakily as she stuck her tongue out towards the crowd. Thats what they get for doubting her.. for doubting Foxclove. Even if she wasn't sure WHO exactly she had pointed at with her childish gesture. Poor Gingerkit seemed to be the target, even if Petalpaw herself wasn't aware of that much.

lazzylake (Dapplestar) Mistleheart (Bubblingheart's vigil, and was asked to move into the nursery by Dapplestar) As sunrises passed for the now-expecting Mistleheart, her belly got larger and larger. As she moved around camp, she waddled instead of walked due to the weight of carrying her kits. Not only her back was very sore from carrying the kits, Mistleheart was also quite tired, and was very hungry lately. The fluffy white warrior was eating twice as much fresh-kill than her normal amount to help her kits grows. Mistleheart let out soft growls from all the pain her back was experiencing. One sunrise, in the middle of leaf-fall, Mistleheart woke up from a peaceful asleep in the warrior's den - she was preparing to move into the nuersery, only to see a patrol of cats returning with Bubblingheart over their shoulders. Their gazes looked very grim, and as they got closer to the clearing, the elderly ginger tom looked as he was having the most peaceful sleep, with his green eyes closed. With horror, Mistleheart noticed that Bubblingheart wasn't breathing, and she let out a shriek of shock. The other watching cats did too. The former leader, Bubblingheart was dead! Mistleheart thought of his legacy as a leader of YewClan, and thought of Foxclove and Whorldusk. Foxclove was also watching in the camp, but Whorldusk was still asleep in the warrior's den, as he was a night owl. He knew Bubblingheart's kits would be very upset from their father's death. The cat who Mistleheart always looked up to as a leader was dead! She really cared for the elderly tom and will miss him so much! Mistleheart burst into uncontrollable sobs as his sleeping body was laid in the clearing. Tremors wrecked throughout Mistleheart's body as she stared at Bubblingheart lifeless form, and she trembe3ld As the day dragged on, Bubblingheart's body was still in the clearing, and when Mistleheart waddled to his side to touch her nose into his ginger fur, Mistleheart revolted away in shock. His fur was icy cold and had no warmth of life to it. She stepped forward again and brushed her muzzle into her fur. " Goodbye Bubblingheart, you were such a brave leader... May your spirit walk happily in StarClan with your ancestors..." The pregnant warrior whispered into his fur. She waddled away to do some camp duties. She mustn't let Bubblingheart's death take control of her life, and her life as a new mother to her soon-to-be kits, who will be born in a moon's time. As night fell, Mistleheart was grieving for the former leader when she heard Dapplestar's voice ring into the warrior's den. Mistleheard waddled out and padded into the clearing to sit with the tom who was the donor of her kits. Mistleheart's friendship with Slatefoot was broken, for now at least... The dark grey she-cat refused to sit beside Mistleheart due to her choosing to not raise kits with her. The leader, Dapplestar who was ontop of the Great Rock looked broken from Dapplestar's death. When the vigil started, the cats in the clearing grew quiet, and as she spoke about his long life and what a great leader he was, Mistleheart broke into tears again, and her muscles trembled with shock. She will miss sharing tongues Bubblingheart, and spending time with him in the elder's den. This shock and sadness won't be very good for my kits Thought Mistleheart. As the vigil drew to a close, and Bubblingheart's body was taken away to be buried, Mistleheart stared at where his body used to be in shock, her muscles trembling. She refused to move from the spot, and she spotted Whorldusk some foxlengths away, frozen from grief as well. Suddenly, as Mistleheart was about to head to the warrior's den to sleep when Dapplestar came to her side. The leader asked her to move into the nursery tonight to prepare for her new kits. " But I don't feel ready to move! Mistleheart choked back tears as she argued. " Bubblingheart's dead! I rather sleep with other warriors tonight for my comfort! " But Dapplestar responded saying she still needed to move there tonight. Mistleheart took one last glance at Whorldusk, who was stil frozen with shock in the clearing, before hesitantly following her to the nursery, struggling to move from the weight of her kits, her grief from the former leader's death, and her thoughts about Whorldusk. Is he seriously going to stay up all night?!When Mistleheart entered into the nursery, the sweet smell of milk and kits wafted into her nose. The white furred... now a queen could see Shadepatch close by, sleeping with her three kits, Skipkit, Gingerkit and Seedkit. Her heart felt warm for Shadepatch and Thrushfleck's kits, knowing that the cat who practically raised, Heavy was a grandmother. After showing Mistleheart her new nest, Dapplestar left her alone with Shadepatch to sleep. For one moment, she forgot about Bubblingheart's death, and her mind felt warm and fuzzy about being a queen and raising her soon-to-be kits. But the realization that her kits will never meet Bubblingheart, the former respected leader of YewClan struck her. She cleared those thoughts, and curled up in her new nest, the smell of the three kits of Shadepatch's and milk warming her heart, despite the lack of other warriors in the nursery, as she fell asleep in her nest. cometchaos (Shadepatch) Feathertalon (Slatefoot) Sand (Monarchpaw) (mention) Dew (Foxclove) (mention) lemonshortbread (Cinderdapple) (mention) Mistleheart (talks to Shadepatch about her kits and the kits Mistleheart was expecting, spends time with Slatefoot for the first time for a long time, thinks Monarchpaw was nice +, Laughs at Foxclove's bad jokes ++, waves at Cinderdapple as she leaves camp ++) The next sunrises passed by for Mistleheart quite slowly, as she was a queen now and not a warrior. She was stuck in her nest in the nursery, with no Clan duties to do, no patrols to go on, and no other cats to talk to except for Shadepatch and her three tom kits. It was weird sleeping in the nursery with the sweet smell of milk and kits, and not in the warrior's den, surrounded by the other warriors. She was also quite sleepy, and very hungry lately, but because she hasn't been moving arouned that much, her back pain have been greatly reduced. Mistleheart have been thinking of potential names for her kits, the kits who will be born A moon. As she woke up from her sleep one sunrise, she decided to talk to Shadepatch, who her three kits were scrambling around next to. " Good morning Shadepatch? How are you?" Mistleheart " How are your kits this morning? I have been watching them, Puddlekit, and Flashkit, and they seem to be getting in a lot of trouble!" " I'm SOO looking forward to meeting my new little ones, Shadepatch. I've been thinking of potential names for them. I've been thinking of Snowkit - since my kits will quite likely be white like snow, or Bristlekit - which I think is an adorable name. " After spending some time talking to Shadepatch about kits, a familar face popped inside in the nursery, Slatefoot, who was once Mistleheart's best friend. She looked very sad about Bubblingheart, who died a few sunrises ago. Mistleheart's heart leapt, she havent talked to her ever since she revealed to the Clan that she was expecting kits. Are we friends again Slatefoot?! thought Mistleheart hopefully. But instead of sharing tongues with the fluffy pregnant she-cat, Slatefoot slumped down beside Mistleheart's nest. She nuzzled against Mistleheart's white fur, and murmured " Your kits are never going to know who Bubblingheart was " A pang of grief pierced Mistleheart's heart, knowing again that her little kits will never get to meet Bubblingheart, the cat who led GemClan for a very long time and was highly respectable. But her heart leapt when she realized that she could still tell her future kits about Bubblingheart and what an amazing cat she was. " It's all right Slatefoot." Mistleheart mewed back " I will tell my kits all about Bubblingheart and the amazing cat he was. " After Slatefoot left, Monarchpaw came into the nursery, carrying a squirrel for Mistleheart. The pregnant queen thanked the young apprentice, and she thought Monarchpaw was really nice, bringing prey for her to eat. The young ginger warrior, and daughter of Bubblingheart, Foxclove came in one hour after Monarchpaw left to spend time with the queens and kits. When Mistleheart told Foxclove a bad joke, the ginger she-cat laughed. Mistleheart, Shadepatch, the three kits, and the visitor, Foxclove spent a hour together, talking about kits and family. In the afternoon, after Mistleheart said goodbye to Foxclove, the fluffy white she-cat decided to go outside the nursery to get some fresh air. She waddled out of the nursery, and took in the sunlight, fresh air, and the colours of mid leaf-fall around her. Mistleheart noticed Cinderdapple and some other cats leaving camp to go on a patrol. She waved at her, lifting one of her forepaws high in the air. Mistleheart decided to go for a little waddle around camp, taking in the fresh air before she went back into the nursery for an afternoon nap, resting her sore back. The apprentice, Monarchpaw kept bringing her prey to eat, to satisfy her great hunger while being pregnant. OOC: I will get Mistleheart's origin story hopefully out on Friday (Saturday for me). No promises though, because next moon is going to be a big one for Mistleheart - her kits will be born! EDIT: I'm really sorry for calling Gingerkit and Seedkit the wrong names, I didn't see the new claims for them. I was so confused when I saw Gingerkit and Seedkit in the prompts. All fixed now! I'll bookmark the forms post, so I don't make the same mistake.

puddlekit demands to be on the next patrol chats with Thrushfleck ★ He growled as Thrushfleck passed, his tiny tail doing its best to lash but only managing to flick it back and forth quickly. "You can't go out alone!" Puddlekit said, pushing his short legs to keep up with Thrushfleck's longer stride. "You have to take me with you!"
Puddlekit stopped at the archway leading to the forest. It felt like there was a physical barrier there across the earth, a line he was not allowed to cross. He toed the edge of it, leaning forward as much as he could, so much that he almost overbalanced and crossed the line before stumbling back, sitting with a pout.
"Do me a favor and take care of your denmates while I'm out hunting okay? Use the time to practice defending your clan and building those muscles. I can see you've been working on them," Thrushfleck said, and the responsibility made Puddlekit puff up. He was the oldest kit now; defending the nursery was his job, right?
Puddlekit's bright blue eyes went wide as he realized how much Thrushfleck was trusting him with that request. With the safety of his own kits, too! "Nothing will touch them while I'm here, Thrushfleck. I promise!" What was he thinking, trying to leave camp? His job was here! Without another word, Puddlekit turned and scampered back to the nursery. He'd count the others, even Flashkit, and make sure they were all safe. frozenlaurel patrol - Dawnpaw ★ An apprentice! Frozenlaurel could hardly believe he'd been trusted with Dawnpaw's training, though with most the Clan grieving Bubblingheart's death, he was one of the only cats that could handle the added responsibility, so perhaps it wasn't so far-fetched after all. Still, he'd been itching for an apprentice ever since he'd started bothering Cinderdapple and Drizzlemimic all those moons ago, and finally he'd been trusted with one of his own.
"First thing's first!" he mewed, chipper with his bubbling joy. "I'd like to figure out what you know. Your strengths, your weaknesses, so we can focus on what matters." It felt obvious to the grey tomcat that he should customize his training to Dawnpaw's skillset: it wouldn't make sense to spend a lot of time on things he has a natural affinity for.
Only through sheer determination and the need to make a good impression on the young Dawnpaw kept Frozenlaurel from bouncing on his paws like a kitten. Even so, his tail was tall and his steps light as he started to lead his apprentice to the camp entrance. "That means pre-assessments! Hunting, fighting and tracking should be a good start." Tests! Frozenlaurel's favorite way to show his knowledge and skill. There was something about knowing his efforts were being scrutinized and judged that made his blood sing with excitement and pushed him to do his best.
Only... He turned and saw Dawnpaw was markedly not excited by the prospect. Frozenlaurel's own excitement dimmed and he tipped his head with a frown. Did he already do something wrong? "Um," he said, hesitating. frozenlaurel snuggles with Seedkit ★ Frozenlaurel still wasn't a huge fan of small kits, but he couldn't be the fox-heart who said no when asked to play. So he'd been roped into giving the younger kits badger rides while Puddlekit tried to rescue them from him and Flashkit stalked his tail.
He had been a little overwhelmed, so after only a short time of the game, he let Puddlekit catch him and drag him down, very gently crouching as to not overly jostle the young ones off his back and only after they were all safe and accounted for did he dramatically "die" under Puddlekit and Flashkit's tiny paws.
It was quite a lovely day for late autumn, probably one of the last warm days of the year before leaf-bare's claws dug them deep under snow. The wind was chilly, but the sun was warm on his pelt. He didn't bother getting up from where he "died" and stretched out with a yawn, content to nap until he was called for a border patrol.
He wouldn't be taking Dawnpaw with him for this one: they needed to check on the rogues, and such a young apprentice would only put the group in more danger.
Frozenlaurel noticed Seedkit hanging around and called the kit closer with a flick of his tail and tilted ears. "C'mon, ya little dandelion fluff. There's room for two in this patch of sun," he mewed softly. "Best enjoy the warmth while you can."

Seedkit »
hiding from the other kits & messing up pondspeckle's nest - stormshade1 speaking with frozenlaurel - Brownie
Squeals of laughter echoed throughout the camp, joyous ringing of the other kits bouncing about among the camp walls. Seedkit’s littermates were out there enjoying one another, Puddlekit bouncing along on his paws with Gingerkit and Skipkit. A large part of Seedkit wanted to run out there and dive right into the mock battle that was going on. He wanted to take part in the onslaught of tiny kit paws against the thickening pelt of the gray warrior that was the kits’ target, but the ticked tabby and white kit remained where he was, fur prickling as heat fizzed within his ears. Was he even good enough to play with the others? He wasn’t creative, and he wasn’t quick on his paws, either. He feared he would ruin the game for his littermates and for Puddlekit. Maybe he just needed to stay out of it.
But he knew if either of his siblings spotted him watching, owl-eyed, at the edge of the nursery, they’d holler for him to join in.
Seedkit shuffled his paws. He reckoned he had about one minute before he was spotted. That meant he had about ten seconds to decide what he was going to do and act out on it.
Motion nearby grabbed his attention. Eyes still colored in a kit-blue hue glanced upward, watching as a pale dappled tom made his way to what Seedkit was sure was the warriors’ den.
The warriors’ den.
His siblings would never think to look for him in there!
Taking a deep breath of air, his cheeks puffing with the effort, Seedkit surged forward, stubby kit tail high in the air as he raced for the warriors’ den. Seedkit lowered himself as he slowed his paws, ducking straight into the moss of a warrior’s nest.
And it was just his luck that the nest he was hiding in belonged to the same warrior that Seedkit had spotted seconds before.
Moss clinging to his pelt and scattered about from his lunge, an annoyed hiss made the young tom snap his head upward. Fur spiking he was met with the angered glare of the pale tabby tom. ”S-sorry!” Seedkit squeaked, heart fluttering against his chest as he scrambled to get to his paws. ”I didn’t mean to!” All he had wanted to do was hide from his littermates so that he didn’t have to join in on their game, but what he had actually accomplished was angering a warrior after messing up his nest. Way to go, Seedkit! He reprimanded himself.
Without another word he took off from the warriors’ den, soon finding himself back where all of this had started - outside the nursery, unsure of himself and upset that he had just made enemies with a warrior. What sort of cat was he if he wasn’t able to play with his siblings and only managed to rub a warrior the wrong way?
Thoughts and worries buzzed in his head like a swarm of bees. Seedkit’s pelt fluffed out, overwhelmed by everything that was going on. Why couldn’t things be easy? He just wanted to do his own thing and not ruin his siblings’ games or the warriors’ bedding material!
A voice calling out in his direction swatted the bees away.
Seedkit blinked, momentarily confused as he looked around the camp, soon finding the scarred, gray tom that his littermates had been playing with not long ago. Had the warrior just called for him? For Seedkit?
… Maybe he knew Seedkit had just ruined a nest in the warriors’ den.
Shakily the young kit slowly made his way toward the warrior. He lowered his head and tail in submission, unable to meet the warrior’s gaze. ”I’m sorry, uh…um…” What was the older tom’s name? Shadepatch and Thrushfleck had listed off the warriors of YewClan many times before, but Seedkit had yet to match names with faces and faces with names, and with so many gray coated cats right now, they were all a blur to the young kit. He swallowed down the lump forming in his throat. ”...Hay…splash…?”
That wasn’t any cat’s name, was it? Even if it was, that certainly wasn’t this warrior’s name, but Seedkit had already dug a grave for himself that he couldn’t undo.

Drizzlemimic- Training with Amberpaw "Can we just continue the lesson as planned please?" Amberpaw’s words echoed through Drizzlemimic’s ears. Clearly, his attempts to encourage and reassure Amberpaw had failed. It was clear his apprentice didn’t really like him either. He knew many other clan mates who could have dealt with the situation better than him. Maybe he wasn’t the right mentor choice after all… But now he didn’t have any good options. He couldn’t force a response out of Amberpaw, so he either had to pressure the young tom more than he already has, or continue a lesson he didn’t care for and probably wouldn’t pay attention to. Neither would result in a great outcome Drizzlemimic sighed. “Alright, if you say so. But if there’s anything you don’t understand or want me to go over again, make sure to ask me! I’d be more than happy to explain it to you again.” That was the least he could do for his apprentice now. He knew this day was a lost cause. He was just trying to get it over with, and hoped tomorrow would go better. I knew I should have started with the tour! With slight hesitation, Drizzlemimic began to carefully explain the hunting crouches for the most basic prey YewClan can find, making sure to keep it simple. Drizzlemimic- Playing with Cloverfur Before the count down even ended, Cloverfur ran as fast as he could. “Hey!” Drizzlemimic giggled. He ran as after him, chasing the PlumClan warrior along the border. He jumped over rocks and ducked under branches. But it appeared that Cloverfur was faster than him. By the time the race had ended, Drizzlemimic was exhausted. “Alright, you win!” He said as the two friends laughed. But their meeting soon had to end, and after all the excitement, Drizzlemimic remembered about his apprentice. What would Amberpaw say if he saw me? But, somehow, Drizzlemimic couldn’t see the young apprentice having a worse impression of him than he already did. He had to fix their relationship somehow. “Hey Cloverfur, can I ask you something about having an apprentice?” He waited for the warriors response and then continued. “I can’t seem to… connect with him at all. He just feels so distant from me. I think I messed things up on the first day and now he just… doesn’t like me. I want to earn his respect, but I don’t know how. Is there… anything I can do?” Dawnpaw- Training with Frozenlaurel Soon after the apprentice ceremony ended, Dawnpaw had a feeling they would begin training. He wasn’t sure what they would start with, but anything would be fine with him. He never really… had an affinity for hunting or fighting like other kits did, so he was indifferent. He liked staying in camp, especially after the incident with Drizzlemimic. Speaking of which, the YewClan camp could do with some redecorating… Frozenlaurel, his new mentor, walked up to him. To Dawnpaw’s shock, and horror, he began talking about testing him. Already?! But… he just began his apprenticeship! Was he already supposed to know stuff? Hopbramble never mentioned anything about that… Neither did his siblings. Or maybe they did know, and just didn’t tell him. But… that can’t be the case! The warriors specifically told them they couldn’t go out and hunt yet. Was… was Frozenlaurel expecting him to already know how to hunt? How to fight? Dawnpaw looked down at the ground in embarrassment. I… I can’t do it! I’ll make a fool out of myself! He had to find some kind of way to get out of training. But as he was thinking, Frozenlaurel was looking at him, confused. Mouse dung! He had to think fast. “I… uhhh… don’t… fell so good..” he said quietly, almost to himself and then bolted to the healers den. Shadepatch was in the nursery so he knew it would be empty. He could hide in there and think. He tucked himself in a corner and began to ponder. Great job, Dawnpaw. You’ve already failed your mentor. Maybe you are cursed by this so called “StarClan”. Well, the clan cats didn’t exactly say he was “cursed”, per se, but it was implied. I bet my siblings are doing so much better… They’re gonna become warriors, while I’m sitting here like a mouse brain, not knowing anything! The thought was too much for the poor apprentice. A few tears started running down his cheeks as he waited, and dreaded, for Frozenlaurel to come after him. Tagging tigersdoroar Dew Brownie OOC: (I really hope Amber and Drizzle will eventually see eye to eye since their interactions are so sad right now lol)

Pondspeckle Wants to spend time with Cinderdapple (lemonshortbread) No. No. This couldn’t be happening. First Stormmask – he never really knew the molly, but he remembered all the days he had spent in the medicine den as a kit, the loving molly taking her time with Pondkit. And now Bubblingstar – Bubblingheart. His mentor and former leader. Bubblingheart was his mentor. That’d oughta mean something. And Pondspeckle couldn’t have been part of the search parties gone out to find him, because he was stuck in the medicine den. Of course it had. Just his luck. He shifted in his nest, causing him to let out a whimper as his weight fell on his sore shoulder. He shifted back, relieving his shoulder of the pressure. It was lonely in the medicine den. If Stormmask was still here, maybe there would be time to talk. But Pondspeckle had barely gotten any treatment since Stormmask had popped his leg back the same moon she died, with Shadepatch still in the nursery. And Pondspeckle, though he wouldn’t admit it, was lonely. The only other cats in the medicine den who weren’t separated were Hopbramble and Thrushfleck. Pondspeckle wasn’t too eager to talk to Hopbramble, and Thrushfleck was… well, Pondspeckle had already talked to him. A lot. Maybe Cinderdapple… Pondspeckle hadn’t talked to her for a while. If only she was here. His father had finally gotten an apprentice, Dawnpaw. Maybe Pondspeckle would be able to get one of the other kits as an apprentice. Maybe Puddlekit? Or even… Seedkit? Yesterday Shadepatch had allowed him to walk around camp, test his injured leg. He had gone back to his nest in the warriors den, and saw the young kit hiding underneath Pondspeckle’s nest. Of course Pondspeckle was mad; he couldn’t even remake his next with his leg in this condition. But... He kind of admired the kit’s bravery. And maybe he would make a good candidate for being Pondspeckle’s apprentice.

Scarletdrift Sharing prey with Coppersplash! || with Coppersplash Scarletdrift took a bite of the rabbit, savoring the smell and the taste of it. It might be the last plump piece of prey he would have until newleaf. It would all go down from here, with the prey going into hiding and the ones that weren't skinny and barely a mouthful.
Coppersplashes questions caught him off guard, mid-bite in fact. He had his mouth open, full of prey for a second before he swallowed. The truth was, he didn't know how to answer her questions. In fact, he hadn't really known that she had been friends with Thrushfleck. Maybe he would have, if he had been paying lots off attention of all of the cats of Yewclan, but the clan was growing so big now! They were at a record-high for warriors, and apprentices. The clan had never been so big!
"I don't think your annoying Coppersplash. If I had, I probably wouldn't have asked if you wanted to share prey! And as for Thrushfleck, I'm sure he's just worried. He's healing from his snake bite and his kits are starting to run around and get themselves into trouble. I remember when I was a father when I was young. Did you know that? I had two kits before Puddlekit, Frostfleck and Beesong. Frostfleck was actually a deputy before Dappleswipe. Sadly she was taken down by rouges on patrol." Scarletdrift sighed, thinking of his two kits. He had decidedly not shared how Beesong had died, via snake bite, because would that just make her worry about Thrushfleck more? He took another bite of the rabbit before gesturing for Coppersplash to finish it. [[ OOC here ]]
Cloverfur Playing with Drizzlemimic on the Yewclan border || with Dizzlemimic Cloverfur put on a last burst of speed for the end of the race, even though he knew he had won. Hr had technically cheated, but it didn't matter. They were only having a little fun! As the race drew to an end, Cloverfur waited at the end until Drizzlemimic caught up, which didn't take long. When he arrived, Cloverfur flicked him with his tail, and both of them laughed.
Glancing over his shoulder, Cloverfur knew they both should start heading back soon. He knew Yewclan cats probably wouldn't be happy to find Drizzlemimic over the Plumclan border, but the Plumclan cats probably wouldn't care too much, considering Yewclan was also allies with Plumclan.
His friend was asking for... apprentice advice? When Cloverfur had said that he had been joking... a little. But this was something he knew about! Fawnstar wouldn't have asked him to train one of her kits if he hadn't trusted him and hadn't thought he had done a good job with Golddusk.
"Of course Drizzlemimic! I would be happy to help!" Cloverfur said, his eyes brightening. This was the first time another cat was asking him for advice!
"Well... have you tried just talking to your apprentice? You could talk about what they want to do, and if they don't know or don't want to talk to you, you could try throwing out suggestions. Maybe you could even set up a training session with one of their siblings if you want. It can get them really engaged." He offered, thinking of the training patrol they had had the other day. Havenpaw and Auburnpaw had both done really well, as well as Rindlestripes and his own skills had increased. "Good luck to you, Drizzlemimic. You'll get it, I promise."

Hunting with Cinderdapple and Monarchpaw Coppersplash split from the Monarchpaw and Cinderdapple, leaving the she-cat to wrangle with her apprentice. I wonder what that’s like… having an apprentice. She wanted one. She wanted to prove that she really was a valuable member of YewClan, and what better way than to have an apprentice? But there were many kits in YewClan, so she was sure she’d get her chance. Focusing on the hunt, she found herself in front of a lizard. Yecchh… Do I really want to eat this? She questioned for a moment, remembering that it was her least favourite back in BurdockClan. Well, maybe somebody will. It’s still fresh-kill, after all. Coppersplash tensed, then pounced on the small creature, killing it cleanly.
She looked into the distance for a moment. From here, she could see the fields of BurdockClan through the trees… Coppersplash wondered if any of those massive, loping animals, horses were out there, galloping across the expanse. But before she could give another thought to her old clan, she tore herself away and returned to Cinderdapple and Monarchpaw, carrying her meagre catch and hoping they wouldn’t comment on it.

Claims Dapplestar is not a strong leader / Sparrs with Cinderdapple “Say, Cinderdapple… Do you think you have time for a sparring match today?” Coppersplash asked, hoping the she-cat wouldn’t be too tired from training her apprentice. With many of the warriors still in the medicine den, she thought it would be important to get in some extra training. “I mean… We should keep on our toes. Especially if they know about Dapplestar’s… condition. Let’s just say it doesn’t look good from outside.” She narrowed her eyes. The leader of YewClan was sick with whitecough and still stiff with grief for Bubblingheart. Sure, everyone got sick once and a while, but Dapplestar being out of action this often was concerning. What if one of the other clans, or worse, the rogue group, saw it as an opportunity to take advantage of YewClan?

Seedkit »
scared to be an apprentice & has a crush on flashkit - @ -
There came a time in every young kit’s life where they would stand before the Clan, the leader proudly calling them forth, and take on their apprentice name. It was the moment every kit looked forward to. The moment every kit dreamed of since they could remember having dreams. Even now Seedkit could hear his brother, Gingerkit, barking out orders to imaginary Clanmates as he declared himself the deputy of YewClan. Seedkit’s nose scrunched. What sort of satisfaction did Gingerkit get out of pretending to be deputy? What cat even wanted to be deputy?
Okay, that was a rhetorical question, Seedkit knew that his grandmother was the Clan’s deputy and that his aunt Slatefoot dreamed of being depufy, but still. The thought of being the second most powerful cat in the Clan, the cat that brought the Clan together and commanded them to go on patrols and defend the Clan… Seedkit saw absolutely no appeal to it.
And in fact, he saw no appeal in becoming a warrior, let alone an apprentice. Seedkit wouldn’t say it aloud to any cat, not even his mother or father, but the idea of taking on so much responsibility, of having to learn the entire warrior code and every fighting and hunting technique there was, curled his stomach. With kin as deputy and an ambitious aunt that wanted to be next in line for leader, and not to mention a brother that appeared to be following in Slatefoot’s pawsteps, and a mother who was the Clan’s only medicine cat, Seedkit had some huge pawsteps to fill.
Pawsteps that would always be too big for him to fill.
If it were possible he’d deny the advancement of being an apprentice. Already he could imagine the disappointment shining in the eyes of his Clanmates as he failed task after task. He could clearly see the frustration rippling along his future mentor’s face as he once again missed a mouse or fumbled a strike.
Seedkit didn’t think he wanted to be an apprentice.
Then again…
Warmth flooded over the tip of his ears, running down to the very bottom of his pawpads. A flash of black ticked tabby fur darted through his mind, a shimmer of eyes as gold as the sun dancing against the clouded gray. There was no way that Flashkit would decline becoming an apprentice. There was no denying that Flashkit would become YewClan’s greatest apprentice. Seedkit’s chest tightened as he imagined Flashkit going on to become an apprentice while Seedkit remained in the nursery, a kit forever. He didn’t like the idea of not being in the same den as Flashkit. He didn’t like the idea of being in the nursery forever while Flashkit went on to become an apprentice and then a warrior.
Seedkit shivered despite the warm buzzing throughout his pelt. Maybe a part of him did want to become an apprentice, but the bigger part of him knew he’d only be a disappointment if he did allow himself the event of becoming a ‘paw.
