Canna
————————————————————- Canna felt a prick of amusement at such a simple concept. If only exchanging names meant you could also exchange trust. The russet molly gives the pair a considering look. The brother looks more wary of the entire situation. Which is, frankly, a good thing. A health amount of caution. This molly on the other paw is being unabashedly open minded of Canna’s presence.Canna raised her tail and flicked it, “I suppose it’s nice to have names to a pair of faces.” She supplies, before sighing, “You can call me Canna.” The moly adds, standing to her paws gently.“I’ve never liked seeing prey go to waste.” Is all she says, giving a somewhat less opposed expression. She’s still reasonably wary though.

Risky - Forest near the river with Ambassador (asrise ) Tail-tip flicking back and forth nervously, Risky weighed what the molly had said. She was right in assuming that they didn't fancy the idea of being completely submerged in the pool, especially in this cold and especially without a pelt as enviable as Ambassador's. Still, they needed to eat. Swallowing down their fear, Risky gave a firm nod and dipped one paw in the water. Immediately, they withdrew the paw with a hiss, hating the bitter cold. The tortoiseshell glanced nervously between Ambassador and the water, stifling a growl of frustration, and then forced themself into the rapids. One paw tried to fly out from under them, but they waved their tail wildly for balance before finding a firm footing. Risky shot the larger gray molly an incredulous look. "Alright, I'm in the water. Now what?"
Firefly - The pines with Maple (Myst) Despite himself, the black tom felt a glow of amusement at the odd ginger tom before him. The little cat seemed to be going through life on a whim, not really planning where he was going or what he was doing. In a way, Firefly found himself admiring that kind of attitude and wishing he could share it. He considered what Maple had said, tipping his head in thought. "No, Maple. I can't say that I have been to the abandoned twoleg nest." Firefly got to his paws as well, stretching up and raking his claws on the tree beside them in a luxurious stretch. He dropped back down, giving his pelt a shake. "Mind leading the way then?" Not sure how long I'll travel with you, Maple. But by the stars, you've got my interest.

Honey -- The Forest | With Shadow - runningsky123 “Chase?” the flame point echoed back as her friend continued on about the hunting methods of those across the river. Sure, cats were quite fast but to be chasing down prey rather than catching them off guard seemed… well, impractical. Not that she had a frame of reference to know that, but something in her body told her that it was so. “Chasing rabbits into a stream sounds like a thing of stories my father would tell me.” Her words came with a a bit of amusement, though it was clear that she still didn’t regard the idea highly.
She regarded it even less so at mention of her current home. “I do.” Her agreement was nearly immediate. “Only home I’ve had since leaving my family.” It was quite the little patch she’d carved out for herself. While she didn’t necessarily have to give it up just to see what was in the moorland, she wasn’t sure if it was worth going. What if the open air offered something better?
“Hmph – maybe just a look. But from our side of the water. I’m still quite fond of my little neck of the woods here, so I’ve no reason to cross just yet.” Maybe another day when curiosity got the best of her. “Care to join on this short little adventure of mine?” She wouldn’t force the tom, though she’d never say no to his company either..
Bo & Alecto -- Farm, The Fields | With Spark & Heather - runningsky123 Not a chance was give for him to finish his sentence before the youngest all but lunged for poor Heather. Bo was on alert immediately, ears forward, body tense and ready for action, and tail held high, only moving in quick tight wags. A show of excitement, but the wrong kind.
Thankfully, everything moved rather quickly and no teeth were involved on the new dog’s end. A bit of a rough greeting, but noting fatal. He venture a couple steps closer, eyes trained on the pair as everything panned out before him. Ever the fighter, the feline lashed out and almost immediately Alecto’s head lifted with a yelp. For just a second her body mirrored his own, tight and ready to spring into action. Spark was faster than she, though, bowling into her with a ferocity he rarely saw.
Still keeping a shred of his attention on the two, the larger dog covered the short but remaining distance between himself and tabby. While he looked her over, he didn’t make any moves to nudge at her as he normally would to do so, refusing to pile onto such a poor show of manners. “Sorry ‘bout that, Heather. You alright?”
Meanwhile, Alecto had been forced a couple paces away, stumbling a bit with the sheer force at which the collie had rammed her with. Once recovered she straightened up, eyeing Spark with the same intensity she’d been looking at Heather with just a second ago. “I didn’t do anything!” she snapped, flashing her teeth with a quick lip lick. Her hackles were raised now, and she’d taken a single step forward. “Was just trying to say hi. You don’t get to hit me like that!”
“Yes he does,” Bo corrected, lifting his head from where he’d been looking over the much beloved barn cat. “Spark says back off, you do it. Far as I’m concerned, he’s your superior.” Despite his stern words, there was a fight in her eyes as she looked at him, then back to the herding dog with a heated glare. “I’d suggest you stand down, ‘less you want to deal with me instead.”
(did I pick a weird spot to end this reply? Yes but it felt correct for some reason)

Cirrus -- The Marsh | With Lavinia and Rudy - soot asrise He’d never thought it could be so cold outside. Then again, he didn’t know anything about the season, what with this being his first leaf-bare and all. Everyday just seemed to get colder. Though, it was entirely possible that the reason he felt this to be true was that fact that he liked to play on the ice patches he found until he couldn’t feel his paws. Of course, as soon as he could he’d go right back to it, running and jumping to see just how far he could slide.
He’d also tried hunting a few times. Not that he knew anything about it – it wasn’t something his mother had needed to do, and he was only somewhat aware that Lavinia essentially could not. Of course, this didn’t stop Cirrus from trying. After all, she – and as of late, Rudy – did so much to take care of him. He had to try and help, right? And try he did. He had yet to be successful, though, his own excitement getting the best of him and scaring off any prey in his general area.
He had yet to escape their den to try today, instead having been made to promise he’d stay where he could be heard. And he did. For the most part. Right now, the small tabby was playing on a particularly large patch of ice he found, running and throwing himself down on it so he spun and slid across the smooth surface. Gleeful giggles left him endlessly, his eyes bright and smile wide as he spun slowly to a stop.
Just as Cirrus clawed himself back so solid ground so he could stand, a conversation faintly carried it’s way to his ears. Sitting up quickly, he whipped around to catch sight of the pair. Oh! “Rudy, you’re back!” He called excitedly, sprinting back to him as fast as his legs would take him. When he was closer, the tom slipped on frozen water, falling and tumbling just about the rest of the short way to them.
Still, he laughed as he got himself upright. Green eyes lifted to eye the older pair with a wide smile. “You guys missed how far I slid! It was so cool – I bet if I found the right spot, I could go on forever.” After a moment, the scent of newly provided food reached his nose, and he was suddenly reminded of his manners Lavinia taught him despite the… less than appetizing smell, rats weren’t actually that bad. Turning his attention more directly for the tom, he purred, “Thank you for the food~”
Maple -- The Pines, Abandoned Twoleg Nest | With Firefly - rεdwιllow The answer was be to expected – not many he’d met had. A lot of wild cats didn’t like twoleg nests to begin with, and the pines were known to be an unfavorable territory. Put the two together and well, you had a place not to many knew about. The ones who did know were simply unlikely to visit. Being asked to lead the way, however, delighted him. Having finished his stretch, the ginger cat stood up with a nod.
He didn’t hesitate to turn around just a little before trotting off. He only assumed the shadow of a feline would be in tow. If he wasn’t? Well, it was his loss, really. “The place is huge – bigger than any twoleg nest I’ve seen,” Maple said over his shoulder. “Not that I’ve seen too many up close. Or, not that I remember, anyway. It’s got two… levels? Sort of like a tree!” Yes, that was it. “Like when you can travel up a hollowed tree. Couple of holes at the top, but it makes it easy to see the stars.”
It wasn’t long before the smell of damp wood drifted faintly to him, alerting him that they were drawing near. ”It’s nice in up there when the sky is clear. Not as good of a view as there is across the river, but it’s pleasant.” As the building crept into the view, Maple slowed his pace a little. “There it is! The entrance is always wide open for some reason. I think there used to be a little black cat that holed up here.” Pausing, he craned his neck to look at the other cat. “Looked kinda like you, actually.”
After another moment of assessment, he turned forward again, hopping up onto the porch one he was close enough. “No relation, I’m sure. Anyway! This place is great – it’s so quiet, and sometimes mice and birds will make homes here. Easy snackin’ if you ask me.”

Pumaheart »
Slumber had almost taken Pumaheart more than once as she allowed her guest to sleep. While not opposed to the idea of sleeping herself, Pumaheart refused the lulling idea, not daring to entertain such an aspect. She dared not close her heavy eyes on the off chance that Edwina would rouse only to find Pumaheart fast asleep. The large ticked tabby was here to observe and to guard. If her guest was to awaken she wanted her to feel secure. This cave was foreign to Edwina. Pumaheart was sure the healer would be uncomfortable at the idea of being left to her own devices in a puma den unknown to her.
And so Pumaheart remained awake, forcing herself to keep sleep-laden eyes open. She focused on her life, how she had been raised for this duty the moment she had opened her eyes. She focused on memories of her mother, how Eaglesong cared for her and how Eaglesong had prepared her for this very moment. StarClan had guided her paws this far, and now they were granting her the chance to be the warden who saw the Clans’ rebirth. Their resurgence. So many cats before her had awaited this moment, only for it to pass them by during their lifetime, and here Pumaheart was, the chosen one. The cat destined to see the prophecy through.
Dry moss rustling from where Edwina had nested herself grabbed Pumaheart’s attention. Rounded ears perked forward, eyes glinting in the chilly darkness as they landed on Edwina’s rousing form. Only now did Pumaheart realize just how many hours had passed between then and now. Moonlight shimmered dimly from the cave entrance, the air inside colder than it had been. Pumaheart’s pelt fluffed itself out of instinct. Had time really passed by that quickly?
The passing of day into night was a subject not meant to be on the forefront of Pumaheart’s mind. She eased herself onto her paws, arching her back into a languid stretch as sturdy jaws parted to free a yawn that had been trapped inside her chest. Once satisfied her body allowed her to sink into itself, the large molly standing in her usual attentive fashion. Eyes blinked warmly toward Edwina. ”Was sleep kind to you?” Pumaheart noticed the emotions dancing across Edwina’s face, watching them paint a picture of confusion, bewilderment, and understanding all at once. Questions were sure to follow, but right now Pumaheart was waiting for an answer to be given to her in turn.
Wila »
Today was not Wila’s day. First the snowdrift she sank into when she jumped off the fence, and now her paws stumbling underneath her and causing her to fumble into the snow. Wila gritted her teeth, anger flashing hot underneath her pelt. All she had wanted was to impress Flame. She wanted to show him that she was more than just some show cat of a kittypet, that she could stand up for herself and be just as bold and free as he was.
Pride truly was a downfall, was it not?
Shaky paws pushed herself upward. Chocolate brown fur brushed against ginger as Wila’s body slouched against Flame, her limbs still shuddering from the tumble. Her ears lay flat against her head, tail lashing, the movement causing particles of snow to dance upward into the air. ”I’m-“ The molly cut herself off as soon as she realized just how bitter her voice was coming out - she was annoyed, yes, but her anger wasn’t toward Flame. It was toward herself. The last thing she wanted was for Flame to think she was upset with him when in reality it was quite the opposite. He was worried for her, genuinely concerned about her wellbeing. Wila tried imagining if this was Chai, envisioning how he would handle this exact situation. Yes, Chai would be worried as well, but Wila was convinced it would be different than how Flame was worried about her. Flame’s worry felt deep and true. Chai’s worry would be as well, but there would be something off about it, something wrong…
Wila swallowed, clearing her throat. She tried speaking once again, voice free of the hiss that choked her earlier word. ”I’m fine, thanks.” A small smile pulled at the molly’s lips as she turned to nuzzle into Flame’s shoulder, rasping her tongue along his nape and down to his hackles. How easy it was for Flame to calm her down. How easy it was for Flame to make her feel better.
As if fate was wanting her to look up and think on the bright side, Wila spotted what could only be a tree out in the near distance, a long felled giant that now sprawled from woodland to moorland. The kittypet jumped to her paws, almost buckling against the sudden movement. Her body subconsciously sought out the sturdiness of Flame, flanks pressed against his. ”Look, Flame! That’s the bridge!” There was nothing else it could be, so it had to be what they had been searching for.

FrazzleLocation: Forest With: Percy ( Feathertalon ) Frazzle’s expression glimmered cheekily at the bowed head of Percy. When the fellow tom’s head arose, Frazzle winked at the older tom. “T’sh de leasht I coul’ do for the star da’ shafed ny life. Twash about tine to pay de foresht anoder fisit, anehway,” he meowed offhandedly through his full jaws as he followed the orange star’s lead. He doubted the Sun’s Shadows would leave their claimed streets to seek him out, but it was probably best to leave them some space for the time being. Although the idea of slinking the streets like some sort of outlaw somehow enthralled the fluffy orange and white tom. He was young and had been incredibly lucky for most of his life. It was likely because of this, the tom seemed incredibly naive about many things~ though sometimes it was hard to say whether his ignorance was by choice; for even times of great peril were a grand adventure, or times of dire hunger that lead to unsavoury, slightly noxious foods were simply expanding his palette. Some would say it was a miracle he had survived so long; but if they looked past the excuses and the facades, some might have seen a hint of intelligence in those mischevious hazel eyes of his. Frazzle was a cat who chose not to worry about the future. Nor the past. He simply took things as they came, living every day to its fullest. ‘We’ll take it one day at a time, and everything else will fall into place.’ His father used to say that often when he and his littermates were young. It would usually be after his mother had been fretting about some thing or another. She would usually try and hide it from them, but hiding things was something his lively orange mother had never been good at. Frazzle’s thoughts came back to the present when he noted the fifth familiar landmark within the last twenty taillengths~ it was a broken branch leaning at a sharp angle, supported in the air by the trees all around it. He remembered playing there often, regardless of the warnings Ol’ Smokey would give him. Speaking of the grey healer, he didn’t live far from here. Frazzle side-eyed their burden, wondering if Percy would let him drop off a piece for his ol’ pal on their way by. It wasn’t long before it came into view. Frazzle took a breath and glanced over at Percy, ready to ask his question… that was until he saw the look on Percy’s face. Or rather, the direction the older tom was looking. —— WonderLocation: Barn With: Boz and Wolf ( soot and ivypool4life ) Ears back, Wonder circled him, sniffing about and eyeing him for any injury. Her checkover was swift, but thorough. Once finished, she stopped before him, still not meeting his gaze. Even now, after knowing what he said was true, it was difficult to calm her racing heart. He was unharmed, so she needn’t be so panicked. And yet she wondered if this was something he would do often in the future. What if this reckless behaviour lead to something far worse? What if just like today, she was absolutely helpless to stop it? The mere thought made her insides ache something feirce. Regardless, Wonder knew she must meet his gaze eventually. She didn’t want to be a nag, but something had to be said. Taking in a slightly shaky breath, she lifted watery, meaningful green eyes to meet his. His wavering, uncertain smile and his hesitant words made quick work of her feeble heart and something in her expression softened. Ach, she could not be upset with him if she tried. Her eyes were drawn down to the movement of straw being flicked off of his paws. When her gaze returned back up, she finally noticed just how much of said straw clung to his pelt. Her breath came out all at once, which was followed by some strangled chirrs, a sound somewhere betwixt laughter and sadness. Fear, relief, amusement, they all mixed together into something rather embarrassing to do out here in the middle of the barn. But now that she had started it was hard to stop. When at last she managed to stop, she gently butted her head against Boz’s chest. It was a physical contact that was quite unlike her, but Wonder was beyond worrying about it right now. “Sorry for all that…” she mewed softly. “Just- be careful, okay?”(We're ready for Wolfie!)

Leo || with laika Feathertalon
A rumble began in Leo’s throat. Low and tender. He was staring down into true beauty. Soft green eyes and tabby-and-white fur so silky against him. His Laika. Though it may not have been official, it was inevitable. She was his and she would be his. It was written in the stars she so loved. And if it wasn’t he would make it so. He wouldn’t rest until they were mates and she was the molly bearing his kits. Until he was her only love. He watched her nervous face beneath him, listening intently to her stumbling words, willing her to say what he so desperately wanted to hear her say. But she couldn’t say it. She wanted him to tell her as if she was scared. A part of Leo wished to refuse, to backtrack and wait for her to overcome her absurd fear. But then, how much longer would he have to wait by depending on Laika to confess her love? He couldn’t wait any longer. Their lives needed to start soon. Their new life together would start now. “To be honest…” He began, his husky meow deep and certain, “You’re my dream, Laika. For the spring.”“I'm your dream, too, right? Other than the stars, of course.” Those silly stars. A cat couldn’t have multiple dreams. Surely, Leo was Laika’s one true dream? She could see the stars any time she liked, but Leo did not wait for time. The ginger tom would move on to his next fixation if he could not get what he wanted. Or, at least, that would be the right thing to do. Had he not gotten his wish, a far darker truth lay deep within the feline for what his true intentions may have consisted of.
Smoke || with cotton & creamsicle Light Feathertalon Smoke stared, first from Creamsicle and to Cotton, and back. Something deeper was happening between them, something his presence had unlocked between the two mollies. The tortoiseshell he’d met a moon ago was a special cat to them. She was both their kin. Understanding dawned upon the gray tabby. Oh dear.
Slow and awkward, Smoke began to inch toward the scarce bush of lungwort. His heart went to the two mollies and their shared grief over their lost kin. He felt genuine sorrow for their situation. But it was crucial to pick his leaves and hurry home. Poppy desperately needed lungwort. Or else her yellowcough would worsen. But as he began to inspect the shriveled leaves, a wail of grief came from Cotton. His gray head snapped away, eyes wide. His heart broke for the old she-cat. Poppy’s condition was dire, but these cats needed him too. He wished there was more he could do, that he’d tried harder to convince Splash to stay. But she was gone. Lost. He prayed she was okay wherever she was. Maybe one day their family would be reunited and the cloud of misery hanging over poor Creamsicle would be lifted. The permanent brow on Cotton’s face loosened some. He sighed, only the Stars would tell. “No, no, you’ve too much on your shoulders already, I’ll do the digging. Besides, I wouldn’t want your stiffness to worsen because of me.” He finished with a short and awkward chuckle. No matter how he tried to lighten the mood, it didn’t seem appropriate. Not now. Turning his focus, Smoke began to dig pawfuls of snow, cursing at the icy cruelty that numbed his paws. He dug until he felt earth and was able to carefully grab the frozen leaves beneath. Frozen but they would have to do. He would let them thaw back in his den before he gave them to Poppy. In a few day's time, he would have to venture to the twoleg garden if he wanted to find more lungwort, more powerful lungwort than the scraps he had now. Smoke sighed. Some leaf-bare this had turned out to be.

Fran || with Jasmine rεdwιllow
Fran brushed against the seat as they passed, purring. Although her thick coat protected her from the worst of the cold, it was always a relief to return indoors. The old molly could never have imagined living permanently outdoors with no housefolk to return to. No warm bed and no fresh bowls of food and water. No housefolk to trill and coo in excitement at your return. A life her late brother had chosen after falling in love with a stray. A pity how his story ended for him. Fran had never judged Frankie when he made his decision, she would love him the same. But the turn of events had been unfortunate. “It’s a lovely home you have here,” She purred, turning her attention back to Jasmine. Her blue eyes were soft and friendly. “How long have you and your housefolk been here?”
Gray Sky || with Kuta Myst
The tom eyed the sky with a scowl, cursing because Kuta was right. There were hardly any hawks around. And the two of them together were far too big to attract any. "In the mountains, we would lure a hawk with a young cat or a rabbit." His green eyes reluctantly left the gray sky to scan the barren moorland, "The hawk swoops low and we get one big meal or two meals in one hunt." But there was no point in reminiscing. There would be no hawks, so their best bet was to follow Kuta's plan to find a hare. If they could find any, that was. Opening his jaws to taste the air, Gray Sky followed behind the spotted tabby on steady paws. There was rabbit scent all around them, but they wouldn't dare leave their burrows. Not in this weather. Gray Sky envied them and cursed his large size. Perhaps if he was slimmer he could slip inside the burrow and find his prey. Nonsense. He was not prey. Cats didn’t belong in tunnels. My hunger is making me hare-brained! But as if on cue, a skinny hare erupted from the burrow, leaving a streak of fear-scent as it raced away. Clumsily, the tabby took pursuit, his giant paws slamming into the frozen ground. He willed all of his senses into catching the rodent. But no matter how hard he pushed, the hare was getting further away. Gray Sky was far too heavy to run faster. But he pushed onward, forgetting that Kuta was there to assist him. No. He couldn't depend on that feather-brain. He hardly even knew his way around his own home. How could he help with the hunt? (so sorry this took so long! i'm actually starting a job! so we'll see in future what my reply schedule looks like)

Alyssum and Aster Location: The Moor With: Canna ( soot) Alyssum was glad the she-cat agreed, at least in her aloof way. “Of course. We can take you back to it, or bring it here if you feel more comfortable with that?”, she asked. She didn’t want to she-cat to think she was being lured into a trap or anything of the sort. “We should just bring it here.”, Aster said. It wasn’t like this strange cat needed a tour of their territory, or to know where they slept in it. Shadow Location: The Forest With: Honey ( Myst) Shadow purred out a chuckle. “No one’s chasing the rabbits into the stream.”, he said, flicking his tail in amusement. He glanced over slightly towards where the moor was, feeling the slightest of apprehension. But no, he would be fine. There wouldn’t be any crossing of the stream. “Sure, I’m always down for an adventure.”, he said with a smile. Spark and Heather Location: The Farm Fields With: Bo and Alecto Heather had been about to start swinging even more at the strange dog, when she was bowled over. She jumped up, and shot between Bo’s legs, her tail puffed up, ears pinned back. She took a few moments of shaking breathing before she nodded. “I’m ok.”, she said, firmly planted between Bo’s first legs. Spark had firmly planted himself between Alecto and Heather. Sure, he was smaller than the guard dogs, but he was no less tough. He’d faced off with rams twice his size before, and he certainly wasn’t about to step down to this newcomer. “That’s not saying hi, that’s being unnecessarily rough. I’m starting to see why the cats at your old place didn’t stick around. But here, we respect them and their space.”, he said, his ears pinned back, his tail held high above his back. He glanced back ever so slightly when Bo spoke, before looking back at Alecto. He didn’t want to get into a fight, but if it was started, he’d end it.
