About This Roleplay
β§ This is a roleplay of the original four Clans (ThunderClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan, WindClan) where the twolegs didn't decide to destroy the forest and the Clans weren't forced to move. Everything up until that point remains the same, so it starts with all the canon characters from the beginning of Midnight; however, in this roleplay, the characters will live out their lives as they would have had the prophecy never occured. Thus, this roleplay is claim-a-cat, and mainly involves canon characters (though some extras were added to RiverClan, ShadowClan, and WindClan to make their populations comparable to ThunderClan's which, obviously, has the most canon cats). If you don't want to play a canon character, you can always create a rogue, kittypet, or other non-Clan cat that interacts with them and may or may not end up joining one of the Clans (however, I will limit rogues/loners joining Clans as that is a rare event in canon. You may interact with them as a third party as much as you want, though).
Roleplay Rules
β§ Follow all forum rules, as always.
β§ No flaming, trolling, spotlighting, powerplaying, godmodding, etc.
β§ No mary sues/"perfect"characters. Your character is almost never going to be the absolute best in the land at anything. Being very good at some things (not everything), however, is entirely acceptable. Your character will be bad at some things. They will have some flaws. They will lose sometimes. Similarly, though, please don't make your character so awful that they have no good aspects and are mopey and depressed and annoyingly flawed. Give them some space to develop and improve, but also let them develop and improve.
β§ As always, keep things pg. So, no excessively graphic violence, language, or other inappropriateness. If you desire any of these things please take it to PM where it is legally out of my control.
β§ Please try to be literate and original. Make your characters and their actions unique and meaningful rather than making them from a cookie cutter with nothing personal going for them. Contribute to the plot and roleplay in a meaningful way that is enjoyable for everyone. Use good grammar, spelling, etc. At the same time, please don't write a novel every post. If you try to make things too long and complicated it gets boring and tedious. Find that comfortable middle where it's entertaining for you to write and entertaining for us to read.
β§ Please keep characters realistic in appearance. Obviously things don't have to be 100% realistic- there are plenty of tortoiseshell toms, and somewhat unrealistic pattern combinations exist, such as gray and black spotted- but keep the cats believable. So no purple eyes, blue stripes, or perfect star-shaped marking on their forehead. Since this roleplay is claim-a-cat, and cats who are not initially a part of the Clans are somewhat randomly generated by me, this shouldn't be too much of a problem. Still, something to keep in mind.
β§ If you are gone for more than two weeks without prior warning, you will be suspended and your characters marked "inactive." If you are gone for another month, your character will either be killed off or made available for someone else to claim.
β§ I reserve the right to reject or remove people who are not literate enough, who do not contribute well to the roleplay, who are not active, who do not keep in the spirit of the roleplay, or who do not adequately follow the above rules.

The Warrior Code
β§ Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle.
β§ Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory.
β§ Elders, queens, and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders. If any warrior or apprentice is sick or injured, they may eat while the elders, queens, and kits are eating.
β§ Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.
β§ A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.
β§ Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.
β§ A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.
β§ The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies, retires or is exiled.
β§ After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.
β§ A Gathering of all four Clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Clans at this time.
β§ Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.
β§ No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is from a different Clan.
β§ The word of the Clan leader is the warrior code.
β§ An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win their battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or if it is necessary for self-defense.
β§ A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet.
β§ Each Clan has the right to be proud and independent, but in times of trouble they must forget their boundaries and fight side by side to protect the four. Each Clan must help the others so that no Clan will fall.

Joining
β§ Joining in this roleplay is very simple: all you have to do is find a cat that isn't already claimed, and claim it. When you join, you may add to their description a little (not too much though; we want to keep them short like in the books). With a couple exceptions, you can't change their relationships (the only exceptions being identifying "unknown" relationships- for example, agreeing that your tom is the father of kits who don't have a father listed). You also may not change their age, or any other information that's already given.
For canon characters, please try to keep their behaviors and personalities as close to canon as possible. I am well aware of how difficult it can be to portray someone elses' character with 100% accuracy, so some differences are acceptable, but the characters should still be more or less the same. Another thing to keep in mind when claiming canon cats is that their futures are not set- they may turn out very, very differently than in the books. So if you claim Leafpaw, don't be upset if she never ends up with Crowfeather. For that matter, Crowpaw and Leafpaw both will most likely end up with different names, as the events which led to their full names won't ever happen. So when you claim a character, claim them because you like how they are, or their potential, not because you like them as they become later on in the books. Make sure to keep an open mind; the point is to make things different from the books (but still realistic).
Of course, filler cats, or canon cats with very little canon personality (such as those only listed in the allegiances, mentioned in the background, or with one or two lines) you have a lot more freedom with. For those with some canon, try not to contradict whatever traits are presented, but past that, you have the freedom to interpret the character how you want.
If you don't like any of the characters given, you always have the option to create an original non-Clan cat- a kittypet, loner, or rogue. For the sake of fairness, these cats will be partially randomly-generated (to prevent people from making their favorite OC as a kittypet and then having them promptly join ThunderClan, for example). You may choose the cat's gender, age, and name, and once the description is given you may add to it (like with the Clan cats) or make minor adjustments (such as changing their eye color from yellow to amber or their pelt from ginger to ginger tabby), but their overall appearance must remain the same. From there, you're free to interact with the Clans as you wish, but there's no guarantee your cat will be allowed to join! After all, outsiders joining the Clans is pretty rare, so only very few will be allowed to join in this roleplay, and not very often either. However, your cat may stay outside the Clans and interact with them as much as you like, as a friend or foe.
