(Here!) Badgerstrike stretched out his body in the sun. He knew that today looked like it was going to be a good day. He moved each of his legs in succession, feeling them burn with energy as he did so. He wanted to train at fighting today, he wasn't sure why. He knew he needed room for improvement in that area, so he glanced around camp to see who was free to help him hone his skills.
Blackstone sat up high in the mountain, perched on a ledge. He liked the way it felt to look down and see so much of the territory. It felt surreal to see so much at one time. He could see the tops of some trees, he could see Alder Forest, and some of Alderclan's territory. Although he could not see between the trees, it was nice to know he could look over the distance to see any immediate danger to Peakclan.

Sandpaw saw his mentor from across the clearing. He rose from the comfortable spot he had been sitting in and dashed across the clearing. "Badgerstrike, Badgerstrike!" He called out as he barreled into his mentor.

Badgerstrike blinked a few times before the realization hit him that it was his apprentice calling out to him. He was still getting used to having an apprentice, and almost forgot about the young tom. He dipped his head to Sandpaw, and meowed his greeting, "Good morning, Sandpaw." He almost laughed about how excited the young tom was.

Sandpaw bounced up and down in excitement. "Are we training today?" He asked excitedly. "I want to go explore more of the territory, and hunt, and practice fighting, and chase off intruders, and..." Sandpaw quickly listed off every duty a warrior or apprentice could possibly ever imagine. The small, cream colored tom was almost always this energetic and excited from the moment he woke up.

Badgerstrike waited a moment so that the young apprentice could calm down enough so he could talk. "I think we will practice fighting techniques today. There are cats out patrolling and hunting already and we don't want to disturb them." Badgerstrike meowed. He liked this tom's enthusiasm. It would aid him well in training, and maybe if it stayed with him through on to when he became a warrior, it would prove very valuable during any kind of test.

Yeah. Sorry for the proof)
Russetclaw padded out the Warriors den subtly casting his glaze around camp. He let out a yawn before shaking out his pelt. He fwlt something brush past him, it was his sister Mistbreeze. With an annoyed grunt he watch her race off probably to find someone to talk with or ask to join a patrol. The slender tom settled down in a corner curling his tail around his paws.
Mistbreeze raced past her brother, Russetclaw, wanting to be out the den quickly. After waking up she was seemed to be full of energy and her paws ached when she sat around for too long doing nothing. She watched the camp for a while noticing that a few patrols had already been sent out. Giving her shoulder a few quick licks she decided to have a slow morning start for once.
Smokepelt pulled herself out the Nursery stretching out her hindlegs arching her back while yawning. She looked back over her shoulder watching as her kits scrambled out the den. Tigerkit was the first one out circling Smokepelt legs looking around the camp amused. Flamekit bounced over to them and Snakekit followed after. "Now listen you can go around and play but don't go getting under other cats paws. Stay out of trouble." Smokepelt meowed before laying down watching the kits stumbled off.

"Great!" Sandpaw meowed enthusiastically. "I want to be the strongest warrior the clans have ever seen!" the cream tom declared as he pounced on a leaf that had blown by. "See," Sandpaw said, "Nothing can get past me!"

Badgerstrike chuckled and flicked his tail for the young tom to follow him, and padded into the forest. He knew he wanted to test Sandpaw on fighting techniques using trees, so he decided the Alder Forest would be a good spot to start at.
Blackstone climbed down from the mountain, his muscles burning with the workout of it. He liked to feel that push in his body to keep up with what he wanted to do. It made him feel so alive. He padded his way towards camp, stopping by a place where he had buried a bat he had killed earlier. He was proud of this kill, just because bats were abundant in the territory did not mean they weren't hard to capture. They were sneaky little things, that blended in well with their surroundings and could practically hear your heartbeat if it was pounding loudly enough. Blackstone had been working on keeping his heart calm as to not let his prey hear him.

Sandpaw followed his mentor out of camp, pausing every now and then to practice his stalking and pouncing on whatever object he could find. Unlike, most cats in PeakClan, Sandpaw's pelt stood out for the most part against the grays and brown on the mountain side, so Sandpaw took it upon himself to perfect his every move to make up for sticking out so blatantly. "Are we headed towards the Alder forest?" he asked his mentor.
(I still have Lilynose and Goosetail open if you want to have Blackstone interact with one of them!)

Badgerstrike let out a small purr, "Yes, exactly where we are heading. There are lots of trees there, and it borders Alderclan. It's good to know basic fighting skills when it comes to battles in the trees. Many cats have injured themselves up there simply because they never practiced battling techniques in trees. And as you can see, there are a lot of trees around, and some of the clans are very good at fighting in the trees. We should always have a basic understanding of any type of fighting, even if we aren't good at it or if we never use it. It's better to know about it and never use it, than to never spend time learning it and have it injure us for not trying to understand it." Badgerstrike felt so much like a mentor, he felt proud of himself for knowing so much.
Blackstone padded into camp, dropped off his fresh-killed bat, and glanced around, wondering what he could do to help the clan. Maybe someone wanted to do a patrol? Or hunt some more. He'd even be okay with just training. Anything to keep the boredom away.

Sandpaw listened closely to every word his mentor said. After Badgerstrike finished speaking Sandpaw examined the surrounding tree's and territory. He wouldn't admit it, but he was somewhat nervous about climbing up into the trees. Despite living on the mountain side, something about the tree's were much more intimidating. The mountain was solid, strong, and provided a sturdy base. The trees however only have branches that swayed slightly in the wind. How am I supposed to keep my balance up there? He thought to himself before looking up at his mentor. "So, uh..." He mewed somehwat quietly, "are we going to climb up it?"
Lilynose greeted Blackstone as he walked by. "Good morning!" she purred kindly as she finished her morning meal. She gave her pelt a few quick, cleaning licks before standing up. "Would you want to go patrol the border with me?" she asked eager to stretch her legs and get out of camp for a bit.

Badgerstrike instantly recognized the apprehension in his apprentice's voice. He placed his tail on Sandpaw's shoulder, saying, "If you don't feel comfortable climbing trees just yet, I'll just teach you how to listen for cats in the trees. I'll climb one while your back is turned and we will see if you can find me. How does that sound?" Badgerstrike smiled, hoping he was doing good as a mentor to the young tom. This was his first apprentice, he wanted to make sure Sandpaw was comfortable with him.
Blackstone blinked a moment, Lilynose didn't talk to him very often, so it was almost a surprised. He had known the she-cat as very shy. He had had a crush on her while he was an apprentice, but she hadn't seemed to notice him before. What was different now? Blackstone nodded, dipping his head, "I'd like that." His voice was low, but gentle towards Lilynose. His voice was normally gruff towards anyone else, and he didn't know why it came out so nicely. Get it together, mouse-brain! You're just going on a patrol. She didn't ask you to have kits with her. Jeez. He smirked sideways at the thought and waited for Lilynose to direct the way.

A wave a relief and comfort immediately ran over Sandpaw's body at his mentor's words, and his signature enthusiasm slowly but surely made its way back. "That sounds good to me Badgerstrike," he purred happily, "I'll just turn this way so I won't see which tree you climb up."
The small white and silver she-cat noticed a slightly softer tone in the black tom cats tone but didn't think much of it. She began to lead the way out of camp, "Which border do you think we should head to?" she meowed looking to her side at Blackstone. He was a handsome tom, and from the little interactions they've had, he seemed nice enough to Lilynose. They had talked a bit when he first became an apprentice, but ever since Nightpaw's death she had minimized most contact with Blackstone. Lilynose found herself oddly enjoying talking with the tom once more. She considered whether or not to bring up why she hadn't said so much more than simple greeting to him over the past season or so, but decided a border patrol wasn't the time for that discussion.
(I'm glad you brought up the crush as an apprentice. Adds more dynamic to whatever relationship they had/will have. Does he still have a crush on her?)

(I was thinking he would, but I didn't want you to feel tied down to him. I was just testing out to see how you felt about it. I can say he suppressed the feelings ever since she stopped talking to him, but he can realize he still likes her later on?)
Badgerstrike looked around quickly, trying to decide the best route to take. He didn't want it too be too hard for the apprentice to find him, but if it was too easy he wouldn't learn anything. He decided to circle a few trees to throw off Sandpaw's nose and get him to be slightly confused. He rubbed up against one tree, circled a few more, put a few claw marks into two or three trees, and then found a tree with branches short enough he didn't have to leave claw marks behind when he jumped into it. He bounded up and up in the branches, then positioned himself in a place where it was easy to see a lot of the ground, but not a lot of him. His fur slightly blended in with the bark, but he was pretty sure his bright green eyes might give him away. Only time would tell.
Blackstone thought for a moment, lost in remembering his apprenticeship shared with Lilynose. "I'd say the border for Cloudclan. I can't remember who checked there last, or the last time we checked there." He meowed, following behind her. He tried to keep his mind on the patrol, and not Lilynose. Ever since her kin had died as an apprentice, it seemed that Blackstone had been pushed from her life as well. He wouldn't try to open that up if she didn't want it, and she had closed it in the first place.

(I think a relationship between them could be adorable! Especially if she starts to open up more because of him and starts to cope and learn to live with her trauma better. Also after this post I have to go to work I'll be back on though in 4-5 hours haha) Sandpaw turned around once he was sure Badgerstrike had settled in one of the trees. His mentor's scent lingered on multiple trees, throwing off the apprentice at first. After a minute or two of searching his caught a strong scent being carried over by a breeze. Sandpaw examined a tree that had claw marks on it, but there was no sign of his mentor up there. Getting slightly frustrated, Sandpaw began to examine each tree with greater care. He eventually settled on a tree with lower lying branches. He began to inspect the branches from the ground below, hoping to catch sight of his mentor. Just when he was about to give up, he saw a flash of green in the sunlight. "Found you!" Sandpaw called out excitedly, proud that he had found his mentor on his own. "Sounds good to me!" Lilynose mewed in response. As they made their way down the mountainside towards the CloudClan border, Lilynose couldn't help but think of the friendship they could've had had they continued talking throughout their apprenticeship. Stop dwelling on the past and what-ifs. "So, um." she began to say softly, "how, uh have you been lately?" Waves of embarrassment flooded over her as she realized how awkward her question had sounded.

Badgerstrike smiled, proud of his apprentice. He looked down at him and began his descend down the branches. Slowly he made his way back down to Sandpaw. He felt the branches pull on his fur, but not scratch him. He was good enough at climbing trees now that he hardly ever get hurt while doing so. Once back on the ground, he said to Sandpaw, "Now, you were looking for me. It would be much different to not know the cat is there. Smell the forest. Smell the territory. Peakclan cats have a usually distinctly different smell than the other clans. You have o figure out the difference between them. Unfortunately we can't try it with a cat outside of our clan but we might be able to find another cat some time to hide somewhere in the forest and tell me where they are and have you figure out where they are. That would be a good test when you're ready." He smiled.
Blackstone's whiskers twitched. Such an odd question seeing as they were both in the same clan. Not much happened in the clan that everyone didn't know about almost immediately. "Things have been fine. I'm working on training more. Hoping to get my first apprentice soon. Hoping to be brought to the next gathering. Haven't been to one in a while. Miss finding out about the other clans from their own mouths, you know?" He padded beside her, their strides matching paw to paw. It felt nice to be talking to her again. He couldn't figure out why she had shut him out so violently, like he had something to do with her brother's passing. But some cats grieve differently. When she was ready, he knew she'd do what she needed to.
