- - TallpineTallpine buried his mouse triumphantly, then turned his nose up to the air, breathing in the scent of the forest. In the distance he smelled something he assumed was a squirrel and followed the scent. The tom quietly scrambled up the peeling bark of a an old pine tree, examining the area for prey. His eyes caught something moving in a nearby tree, so as carefully as he could, he jumped from one branch to the next until he was holding the squirrel on his jaws. But a bird suddenly fluttered by and landed in a tree, which was absolutely irresistible to him. He ran to the edge of the branch, jumped at the bird, but when the small creature took off in fear, Tallpine pivoted to catch it, making him land awkwardly on his side. He let out a small "oof" as he smacked down on the tree, then slipped off, hit another branch that his claws scrambled to grab until he fell into the hard forest floor. Groaning, he touched his tail to his head with a aching bones. Luckily nothing was broken, but he definitely has some bruises. He buried the squirrel quietly and looked around the forest again, hoping Stonestreak wasn't beating him. (oops didn't see this! sorry) Stonestreak looked around, and buried her vole with a feeling of satisfaction. Perhaps she wouldn't be sleeping out in the cold. The she-cat moved away from her vole, and crept through the undergrowth. A small flicker of movement caught her eye. Dropping in to a crouch, she began to creep forward, not quite being able to see what she had noticed. To her disappointment, the she-cat didn't see anything. Now what did I think I saw? Stonestreak thought, with a bit of unease. No matter. I don't want to lose, I should look for some more prey. She pushed the negative thought to the back of her mind and walked forward a bit. Looking up, she mentally noted the position of the sun, and frowned at the amount of time left.

(That's ok! Also, I'm wondering what she saw. O.o)
- - Tallpine
Tallpine stretched out with a little grunt of pain, then looking up at the trees above he saw that his noise had scattered some of the prey in his area. Fantastic, he thought bitterly, partially blaming the little bird. Then, spotting the position of the sun, he jumped a little and scrambled into the underbrush to find something, anything, to hunt. A mouse suddenly darted past, probably trying to escape the noise he made, but when he tried to chase after it, it easily outran him by going into the roots of a tree. He huffed and slowly turned around to see the time. It was over. Oof. Okay. Let's see who won.., he thought as he padded reluctantly toward their starting spot. The time sat down in the small area, looking around for Stonestreak. "Hey, I'm here!" he called out to her.

(honestly I didn't know what to type so I added that in there, didn't have anything in mind.)
Stonestreak frowned at her small catch. She didn't have any time to continue hunting, seeing as it was time to meet Tallpine. She went to where she buried her vole and quickly dug it up. So not looking forward to sleeping out in the cold She frowned at the thought. Her ears perked up at the sound of Tallpine's voice. "I'm cominf!" Her voice was muffled by the vole in her mouth. The she-cat began to take loping strides to get to the meeting place quickly. She made a hard stop when she stepping into the clearing where she was meeting Tallpine. The she-cat dropped the vole at her feet and sat down. "How did it go?"

(Ah. XD) (Also, just pointing out that I almost typed "coke" instead of "vole".)
- - Tallpine
Tallpine gestured to the mouse and the squirrel at his paws. "I got two. How did you..," he looked down at the vole and grinned a little. "I guess I know who's sleeping outside tonight." He gave a little bragging tilt of his head in victory. Not too shabby, Tallpine. Then he heard his sister's voice in his head. Try not to be too much of a foxbrain about it, ok? This, he would have to listen too.

(My phone autocorrected it to coke earlier, xD)
Stonestreak gave a small grin. "Now you hush. " She playfully rammed him in the shoulder. The she-cat's smile was fake, though it may not have been to obvious. Well way to make a complete fool out of myself she inwardly scolded. "Lets get back to camp and drop these on the fresh kill pile. Don't want to keep the elders waiting." Another grin spread across her face.

"Oh Starclan we'll never hear the end of it," he laughed, recalling the seething judgment some elders passed to them when they were late. "Although frankly, I can't wait to be an elder. I can criticize cats all I want, and demand constant catering to my needs." Tallpine picked up the mouse and the squirrel and nudged her back, grinning through a full mouth before starting to pad back toward camp.

Simply put, they were drained. Drained of energy, drained of feeling. Drained of love. The list could go on infinitely, Fennelnose presumed. But it would be best not to get caught up in self-pity, anyway. That created a cat whose sole goal in life was to get as much attention as possible. Fennelnose wasn't like that at all, no; they detested cats like that. The best thing to do was hide your emotions and act as if nothing was wrong, giving no reason for anybody to worry. Worry only dragged cats down, lowering their performance and clouding their idea of what was right.
Cats could be so emotional. Logic was better, in the long run.
They were getting lost in their thoughts again. So unfortunate, that mind of theirs. It could send them a world away, yet they were condemned to be forever stuck in their physical form in the dreary game of life. The warrior rose to their paws, staring out at the entrance. Should they go out and hunt..? No. They didn't have the enthusiasm to catch anything that wasn't already half-dead.
Today would just be a lazy day for Fennelnose. A smallish cat was just back from a rather fruitless hunt. The uniformness of the colors of the world made a flash of fur or feather difficult to detect. Nonetheless, the she-cat was still trying her very best. An older apprentice, she still desperately needed improvement and was secretly glad for her training. Liz's gaze flitted around hopefully, searching for her mentor, prepared for yet another training session. She personally preferred fighting sessions, they were far easier, but really, anything would fly with her today, she was in a fairly good mood, free of the knots that so often twisted in her stomach. She flicked her tail when she spotted Fennelnose, her mentor, and dashed over to them. "Hey!" meowed Lizardpaw as they reached the older cat, staring up at them expectantly with round amber eyes.

The she-cat teased. Following suit, she picked up her vole and followed him back towards camp.

Fogkit had only moved a tail-length when Honeyfall came back into the camp. He pricked his ears and blinked up at the tom. "How was hunting?" he asked. He tried to sound like a Clanmate, rather than a kit. "not very good. i only caught a measly mouse and missed a squirrel." honey rolled his eyes and crouched next to fogkit, looking around the camp before turning to the kit. "hey, how close are you to becoming an apprentice?" his eyes gleamed with sparkling wonder, before he scooted back. honeyfall retreated further into the shadows, further from the light, further from what he saw was judgemental stares. his ears flattened before he shook his head, clearing away his thoughts, and looking at fogkit expectantly.
[ he's very clueless of facts about others half the time ] "Five, almost six moons." Fogkit curled his tail around his front two paws, lifting his chin as a soft wind bustled around him. "I'm afraid that whoever mentors me, I won't get along with." He glanced at Honeyfall, his blue eyes hard with worry. "Please don't retreat into the shadows. That only fuels the fear that cats are judging you." Fogkit tilted his head and pricked his ears. "You may think that cats judge you, but the looks they give are ones of sympathy. I should know - I get them often enough."

- - ShatterfangShatterfang's tail waved slowly back and forth as she crept toward the bird, muscles tense. The she-cat came a good two feet from the bird, then pounced and caught it. She turned back to Thornshade with a triumphant expression, the fresh prey held in her fangs. "Not to shabby, huh?" she mumbled through a full mouth, making it a little less impressive. Thornshade purred. "Nicely done! Now watch this." He crouched down, pinpointing the scent of a water vole. Soon, he saw it lumbering across the clearing, stopping to nose through some ferns. He wiggled his rear ever so slightly and pounced, coming back to Shatterfang with the vole hanging from his jaws.

"what if I became your mentor? would you enjoy being an apprentice then?" honey gazed at fogkit in question, not sure why he had asked the question. his ears pricked as he stole a glance around the camp, his tensed form visibly relaxing as he saw that nobody was staring at him. he still crouched, reading to spring into the shadows as soon as a single gaze turned to him.
the ginger and white tom looked down at his pelt, seeing the sun upon it. he almost felt as if it wasn't his own fur, as he had always kept to the shadows, staying far from the sun. when he did allow himself into the sun, he never stayed for very long. even as a kit, honeyfall had been like this.

(Sorry for the late response!)
- - Tallpine
Tallpine snickered at that. "I guess I do. More so than usual, though," he mewed with a little smile. As they approached camp, the tom momentarily considered what his life really would be like when he was an elder. Would he be more bitter than usual? I don't think there's anything in this world that could do that, he thought jokingly. Well, today he wasn't bitter. He'd actually made a friend, and won a pretty decent bet. He entered camp and dropped the prey into the pile.
- - Shatterfang
Shatterfang bowed her head and chuckled. "Great job. We're not doing half bad out here." She looked around at the forest surrounding them. "Think I'm ready to survive out here yet?" the she-cat asked jokingly. Sitting down and curling her tail around her black paws, she turned her gaze back to Thornshade.

The warrior's tired stare was broken by the arrival of Lizardpaw, watching the brown tabby making her way into the camp. Fennelnose let their dull eyes linger on the molly for a couple more ticks, wondering if she would spot her. Sure enough, it didn't even take more than a minute for their apprentice to notice their mentor. The cream tabby straightened their posture as she approached, relaxing their face in a more submissive way than intimidating. Fennelnose wasn't all that good at softness, but they tried their hardest to be patient and understanding around younger cats. They were still developing, after all. The molly would flick an ear and swallow as Lizardpaw stopped in front of them, opening their mouth to speak.
"Hey," they replied in greeting, managing a small smile for their apprentice. They wouldn't want the intelligent apprentice to think anything was wrong, after all. Everything was just... fine. "Did you catch anything in the territory?"

"Kid? You're only a few moons older than me Mr. High and Mighty." She stuck out her tongue. Tonight will be a long night it seems Stonestreak thought, her mind laced with a bitter twinge. "So how long am I sleeping outside?" The she-cat gave a small chuckle. That seems like a weird phrase to say. Cracking a smile at her own thoughts, Stonestreak looked back at Tallpine for his response.

Tallpine laughed lightly, looking at the Warrior's Den. "Two nights. If you want, I'll help you move your nest out. - - Tallpine
Carefully, Tallpine pulled the nest outside, keeping one steady paw under it as he awkwardly padded backwards. He found a spot just outside the den where he set his side down and removed his paw. Then, feeling a little guilty about the whole bet, he decided to offer little bit of help. "Do... You need anything else?" he asked slowly. "I'm sure I could get some... Leaves or something?" He chuckled and looked around for some sort of... Warm thing?
