Wildmist frowned at his reaction and remembered how it seemed he was so repulsed by her tail touch the other day. How could she be blamed? "Well I didn't think you would after how r-" She paused and closed her mouth. Let's not say my thoughts out loud. "Never mind. Thanks. How did it go?" She stumbled out, looking at her paws the whole exchange.

Quakefur blinked over at her curiously, wondering what she was going to say before she changed her mind. "It went as good as it could have gone. She's no longer swiping at my ears or tail so that's a good sign I guess" he explained, forcing himself to relax at her words.

"Oh! That's good then, I'm glad," She said awkwardly. Wildmist continued to keep her distance and continuously stared at her silver paws. She was acting incredibly shy and she was confused as to why. Maybe I should talk to Shaleheart...

Quakefur sighed and turned to face the silver warrior directly, a small frown on his face. "Okay. What did I do wrong this time? You're acting off right now Wildmist" he stated, getting straight to the point. He wanted his bubbly friend back.

Wildmist took a step back, surprised at his bluntness. "N-nothing! It's fine. I'm fine. I just didn't sleep well last night, my moss was dirty," she lied. "I should talk to Shaleheart," she told him, standing up and shaking her silver fur to snap herself out of it. "I'm sure she's waiting to tell me everything."

Quakefur studied the warrior for a moment before nodding. "I guess so. You wouldn't want to keep her waiting" he said after a moment before getting up as well. That could be it but to him, it still seemed off.

Wildmist nodded and bounded over to the elder's den. "Shaleheart?" She called out hurriedly. "I heard you talked with Quakefur?" She asked walking in.

The grey elder looked up at Wildmist with feathers scattered in her fur, surprise flickering across her yellow orbs. "That speckled annoyance? I talked with the tom, why?" She asked, her words containing no venom this time around. He had brought her a thrush and wouldn't leave till she forgave him, the stubborn tom.

"Uhm... How did it go? Did he say why he apologized? Was I talked about?" She was ready to ask a million questions to the old she-cat she looked up to.

"He apologized to me, wouldn't leave unless I voiced it too. He's a stubborn tom, that one." Shaleheart meowed, her ear flicking furiously to dislodge a feather stuck to her fur. It wasn't working out so far for the feathered elder.

Wildmist plopped down to the group out of frustration. "But he didn't say why?" She sighed and looked up at Shaleheart. "He acted so disgusted by me yesterday, and I don't know why I care!" She groaned dramatically and placee her paws on top of her eyes.

"Disgusted? What do you mean disgusted by you Sweetheart. Explain." Shaleheart said, sitting up straighter with a glint in her eyes. Did she forgive the tom for no reason??

Wildmist sighed and shuffled her paws. "I don't know. We were just talking and I said something and I - I guess my tail brushed his fur and he slinked away." She pouted. "I don't know why I'm letting it get under my fur," she explained. She groaned again. "I don't even know why I thought it was a good idea to do that!"

Shaleheart just sighed sympathetically and deflated. "Sweetheart, you did nothing wrong. I promise you that. That speckled fool keeps all but a select few at a distance wich means you surprised him. He didn't pull away because he was disgusted by you. No, the fool was too surprised and pulled away by reflex." She said, reaching up to pull the feather from her ear.

Wildmist sighed and slinked back down again. "Why do I care so much?" she whined with a pout.

Shaleheart's eyes shined with amusement as she let out a small purr. "The way I see it you either like him or he's a good friend to you. I personally think its the first one" she teased the younger she-cat, smoothing down the feather under her paw.

Wildmist shuffled her paws once more. I hope Quakefur isn't waiting outside again, she thought to herself. "Maybe I do," she muttered, too embarrassed to look at Shaleheart's soft gaze. "I haven't thought of that before." She was lost in thought for a moment. Now that her father had died, she always had a deep fear of losing someone close to her again. "Why do you think that?" She asked, finally looking up at Shaleheart. "And what do you think I should do?"

Shaleheart smiled but blinked a moment later. "What do you mean? About me thinking that you like the speckled brat?" She asked, tilting her head to the side in confusion. Her words contained no venom still yet old habits died hard.

Wildmist nodded. "Why you think I do, and what you think I should do about it." She mumbled, embarrassed.

Shaleheart let out a small purr of amusement at her words "Well for starters, he's the only cat that you got after me about. As for what to do, sweetheart, that will be left up to you to decide. I'm just here for advice." She said, wrapping her tail over her paws.

Wildmist pouted and sat back up, shaking her silver fur. "But Shaleheart, you know how poor I am at making decisions!" She whined. Wildmist sighed and knew she had to go back out to the camp. "He's not waiting again is he?"

Shaleheart just chuckled at her words, shaking her head fondly. "As I said, I'm just here for advice. I can't exactly choose your mate for you, now can I?" She teased as she shifted to the side to glance out of the den. "I think he just came back into camp sweetheart" she mentioned, amusement clear in her tone of voice.

Wildmist sighed. "I guess I should go back over then," she walked over to Shaleheart and nuzzled her like a daughter would to her mother. "Thank you for everything, Shaleheart," she purred.

Shaleheart let out a raspy purr, licking the she-cat's ear lovingly. "That's what this old she-cat is here for my dear. Now, I think he just went into the warriors den" she said, nudging her forward gently.

Wildmist laughed as Shaleheart nudged her out. She found herself in the middle of camp and walked towards the den. She spotted Quakefur. "Hey! What are you doing?" she called out.

A few heartbeats later, Quakefur emerged from the warriors den, a large piece of old moss clamped in his jaws. As soon as he spotted the silver warrior, the speckled tom froze for a moment. His expression mirriored one of a mouse in front of a cat type of look too.

Wildmist's whiskers twitched in amusement from looking at Quakefur. She had never seen him this nervous. "Were you changing my bedding?" She laughed, her blue eyes shining.

Quakefur felt his fur heat up at her laugh and shuffled his front paws. "Er... maybe?" He mumbled out from behind the moss. Realizing that he still had the moss in his jaws, the speckled tom quickly dropped it and shuffled it under his paws as if to hide it.

Wildmist couldn't help but laugh again. She thought it was a sweet gesture of Quakefur and the complete opposite of the closed-offishness from the day before. "I already saw it, you mouse-brain," she teased him, trying to stop her purring. "Why'd you do it?" She asked, tilting her silver head to the side.
