No cat got away with speaking such words about Hollyheart. It was one thing for a cat to say something about Cherrystorm himself, but Hollyheart? That was more than crossing the line. Briarflame was just asking for a scar or two from the tomcat. He didn’t even care if they were in the middle of the camp or not. The tabby she-cat had went beyond what the protector thought was okay. A satisfied smirk crossed the ginger tom’s face when he felt his claws connect with the she-cat’s flesh. Fortunately for him he had enough experience in battle to know that the she-cat would probably leap after him once the initial shock was over. He was ready when the other protector did just that, but he still ended up being caught under her outstretched limbs. Cherrystorm flipped down onto his back, snarling and hissing toward his attacker. He swung out with his paws a few times, hoping to catch Briarflame again. A sharp pain crossed the tabby’s chest briefly. Briarflame must have caught her claws against him. Instead of letting the pain get to him Cherrystorm ignored it and rolled himself up to his paws, ready to pounce on his enemy right as Nettlemask batted toward the two fighting felines. ”This isn’t your battle,” Cherrystorm spat, glaring daggers at Nettlemask as he stopped his onslaught toward Briarflame for the time being. ”You have no right to stick your nose in this.”

As she lunged at Cherrystorm, Briarflame was ready for the impact that would be caused as she hit the tom. She wasn't shaken as they hit the ground, she was satisfied. She had managed to get an experienced warrior underneath her claws. Feeling her claws dig into his pelt, she gave an angered hiss. She was going to win this battle, and more importantly prove to Cherrystorm that she wasn't the weak, younger protector he thought she was.
It wasn't until she heard the voice and felt the paw of Nettlemask that she backed away from the fight. Glaring at Cherrystorm, and then at Nettlemask, she stared at the tom, ears flattened and eyes narrowed. Blood dripped down from the she-cat's face where she was struck. The wound wasn't bad at all, but it stung.
"If it's in the middle of camp then it's everyone's battle." Nettlemask growled, looking between the two cats before he shoved himself in-between them. "You two should be ashamed, acting like tenderpaws." The tom lashed his long tail at the two cats and looked in-between them once more, amber eyes narrowed as if he were daring them to try and attack him. "The camp is no place for battle, especially between two clanmates."

Falloweyes & Briarflame & Cherrystorm } A sigh of relief pressed past the young she-cat's lips as she exhaled in pleasure. The small stones shifting under her soft peds and the gentle current lapping at her light paws made her muscles loosen and her mind cloud. She had finally taken the time to pad into the small stream that cut through the camp, all in an effort to relax. It wasn't like her mind was poisoned with such concerning thoughts that she was desperately in need of time to relax, but still it was nice. Or it was. Hissing and spitting suddenly erupted behind her, causing her ears to perk in alertness. Spinning her head around she watched as her two clan-mates spat at each other. Her tail flicked from side to side in amusement, pleased that it was only happening a few cat lengths away, "Finally something interesting". The drama between clanmates had been quiet for too long, or at least in Falloweye's opinion. Where she was from things were rarely quiet between cats. The curiosity for her new clan-mates was never-ending, they were so.. reserved and orderly. She was still trying to decide if she liked it or not, if she should stay or leave, but only she knew of that. How many moons had it been since she joined, six? Maybe seven? Long enough that her presence had been accepted and she had found a few friends in the clan, but not long enough that she earned all of their respect which was fine by her. She didn't need all of their respect, just a few and that was more than enough.
Stepping out of the stream she shook her paw one by one as she watched Nettlemask attempt to break up the fight. Her tail lashed as she watched, questioning as to why any cat would get involved in another cat's fight. Sitting down she flicked her tail over her paws, her warm eyes burning as she absorbed the scene before her. Knowing that she was putting her nose where it didn't belong the sepia tabby cat spoke up, "Tis' not your battle until you add your own tooth and claw," her eyes now on Nettlemask. Even with great effort her wording still sounded foreign to how the other's spoke, everything about them was strange and it intrigued her extremely. Where she was from, cats fought on a daily and wore their scars pridefully. What happened between a group of cats stayed between them, if there was any intervening... well then that soul unluckily gained some scars of their own. "Take it outside the camp," she simply suggested.
i didn't know how to get fallow involved so here she is awkwardly making an appearance lol

At the voice of Falloweyes, Nettlemask instantly lashed his tail. Great. What did this she-cat want? Jerking his head around to look at her, the lanky tom stared her down, taking in her words. "You obviously don't know how clan life works." He growled. The she-cat hadn't been in the clan for long, one season at most, so of course she hadn't turned herself into a full clan cat- at least not to Nettlemask. The tom had heavily disagreed with Honeyteller's decision to let an outsider in the clan, but he assumed that would be another thing to bring up to Icetail. Lashing his tail once more, the tom got his attention back on the subject at paw. "Maybe you should go be a tenderpaw until you fully know where you're at."

The only reason Cherrystorm had been knocked down was because of the she-cat’s superior strength. He would certainly give her that much - the female above him was stronger, much more powerful, but she didn’t have the speed he had. She didn’t have the agility he had. Even with her claws sinking painfully into his skin he knew he could squirm his way out of this and gain the upper paw. It was right as Nettlemask made his appearance that Cherrystorm had gotten away from Briarflame’s grip. He was about to strike hard and fast when the other tom began his commentary. Cherrystorm bared his fangs at the tomcat. ”Why should it matter to you anyway? Aren’t you supposed to be off gallivanting with Icetail, anyway? Get your nose out of this and go back to where you belong. You don’t have the full story for this, so piss off.” The ginger tabby just was not in the mood for any forms of interaction. Briarflame had stroked a pretty big nerve of the tomcat’s and he was going to be a ball of rage for a long time yet. He probably wouldn’t even be done fuming tomorrow with how the she-cat’s comment had been. No cat talked bad about Hollyheart...no cat talked about her death like it was his fault or like it didn’t matter...no cat. ”Great,” Cherrystorm grumbled as another feline made their way to the commotion. ”Why not just invite the whole Clan over, eh? Let’s just pile all of our cats together and see what happens.” The tabby protector glared directly at Falloweyes, his fur bristling even more. ”We don’t need the input of an outsider like you. This certainly isn’t your battle.” GroundClan was not the type of Clan to let in outsiders. When Cloudteller, during his last few days as omen-teller, allowed the she-cat to join the entire Clan had been shocked. Rogues weren’t allowed in. Loners weren’t allowed in. Perhaps a kit or two would be found and brought into the Clan, but that was an extremely rare occasion. Cherrystorm himself didn’t even know of a recent account. Falloweyes should know she didn’t belong in the Clan so why was she sticking her nose in its intertwining affairs?

"If you two weren't acting like such kits the whole clan wouldn't be coming over!" Nettlemask snapped, whipping his head around to Cherrystorm once more. The tom was just as upset about Falloweyes intervening, but that didn't mean the older protector was going to speak to him that way. Not when he was trying to help others for once. "And it doesn't matter if I have the full story." He huffed, lashing his tail once more. "The point in a clan is to be untied with one another, not divided." His words were hypocritical given the recent conversation he had had with Icetail, but that didn't matter. It wasn't like anyone else knew about it.
Nettlemask turned to Briarflame and narrowed his eyes. "And if you can't quit acting like an immature tenderpaw, then maybe you should go back to being one." The she-cat was young, younger than most of the protectors. She hadn't been made one early, she had simply just been named one recently, within the last season. Nettlemask recalled the day, and even though he wasn't old, he certainly had superiority at the she-cat. She was the daughter of a healer and a respected protector for the Givers' sakes! She should have more maturity than this. Oh, if only Mothlight knew what was going on. Nettlemask knew the tortoiseshell she-cat would have clawed her daughter's ears off by now, or rather, Nettlemask would have if she were his kit.

Falloweyes & Briarflame & Cherrystorm } Falloweyes wasn't surprised by the warrior's comment, however Cherrystorm's did. Shouldn't he be spitting fire at Nettlemask not her? He was the one who stopped their fight, she was simply just saying that he shouldn't have gotten involved, she was backing them up. But for such a big and strong kitty why would Cherrystorm need backing up. Her tail flicked from side to side as she soaked in their harsh words. Words were the least of her worries, yes they hurt sometimes, but she knew of things that would hurt a lot more. She nodded her head in understand, eyes burning bright. "I understand." she said her tail lashing. She did understand clan life, most of it that is. She understood what needed to be done and generally how things worked, what she didn't understand were her clan-mates and the way they acted. There was a deep sense of community, yet they bickered and batted, it was odd. Family was just family and if there was a problem that was worth bickering about - well then it was best to just leave. "I don't understand you and your clanmates". She was careful around the word "clanmates" knowing all to well that if she had claimed them as their clanmates that would've started a whole other fight. But isn't that what she wanted? A fight? Something to spice things up? Though she enjoyed a good fight she had no patience for bickering. To her this was all just a waste of time and a recipe for paranoia that she would feel later down the road. Cherrystorm and Nettlemask might not trust her but she did not trust anyone in the clan, even Honeyteller. Falloweyes had joined the clan purely out of curiosity and a way to save her skin, selfish I know.
Falloweyes stared at the cats blankly as they attempted to shame her for being an outside, but it wouldn't work. She wasn't ashamed, no, she was paranoid. The young Protector knew that it was only a matter of time before they had enough of the mysterious she-cat and ran her out. This place was only temporary in her eyes. "I know where I am, bout' ah moons travel north cross thy mountains," she spoke meekly ¿suddenly having an irish accent??¿¿ , the cat's accent leaking out even more, having a nice flow to it as the vowels were drawn out. Falloweyes knew more than to take Nettlemask's words so literary, but if he wanted a mouse-brain outsider for a clanmate then thats just what he would have. If he wanted to be a fiery hot-head than she would only fuel the fire. She had seen cats turn on one another over a mouse, so how long would it take for this bunch.
Despite her growing curiosity, she had enough of their comments, she knew where she wasn't needed. The warrior rolled her eyes as she flicked her tail, "Their pride 's so sensitive". She snorted at Cherrystorm's comment, as if all of their clanmates would do such a thing. Growing tired of the fiery bunch she turned her back on them and began to walk away, "Can assure you nothin', you all soft," she mumbled to herself, just audible for them to hear.
i don't know why but that response was so hard lol

”If some cat had kept her mouth shut then there wouldn’t be a problem!” Cherrystorm snapped back hotly. ”This sorry excuse for a cat,” he lashed his tail in the direction of Briarflame, ”got what was coming. You wouldn’t let some cat get away with negative comments about your loved ones. What if some cat said something bad about Soothawk?” Cherrystorm questioned with a growl to his words. The two toms were brothers so surely there was some sort of bond there. While Nettlemask had no mate or kits, he had his brother. Cherrystorm could always bring that into the topic at paw. ”Even though the Clan should be united, some need to understand where there are boundaries.” Amber eyes glared in the direction of Briarflame. She had stepped over a line and needed to realize that; when a cat walked over the line of an already snappish cat they would find only claws and fury. Cherrystorm huffed in annoyance. Who was going to show up next? Honestly the only cat to show up that wouldn’t make the tabby angry would be Mothlight. If she somehow appeared and placed herself into all of this mess then the older protector might actually calm down a bit. Mothlight could also do something about her ornery daughter as well. Perhaps get her to finally admit that what she had said was totally uncalled for. Speaking of things that was uncalled for… Narrowed eyes turned back to the ginger tabby Falloweyes. The tomcat still had no idea as to why she had been allowed to join the Clan. What had Cloudteller seen in her those few moons ago? Outsiders were never allowed to join into the Clan - they just weren’t meant to be part of something like a Clan. That’s how Cherrystorm saw it at least. Loners or rogues never truly learned how to integrate into the Clan fully. Did this cat even know the code of the Clan all the way? Probably not. The tom rolled his eyes as the she-cat began to speak. ”Can you even admit that you live in GroundClan? You shouldn’t be here if you can’t even admit to that,” he growled with a lash of his tail. ”Why Honeyteller lets you still live here, I don’t know. You’re not Clan.” Falloweyes had nothing to gain by being here, so why was she? Not many cats welcomed her or even wanted her around; she was simply an extra mouth to feed in the end. A Clan was made of a large family, and while sometimes family didn’t get along as it didn’t right now, at least they were okay at the end of the day. They had a bond that could never be broken. But with Falloweyes there was no connection there, no sort of bond to bring her back together to the Clan as a family member. She was just...there, and most cats didn’t want her there.

Nettlemask narrowed his eyes at Cherrystorm, lashing his tail once more. "That's not the point." He growled at Cherrystorm, before looking back to Briarflame. The she-cat was standing across from the ginger tom, fur fluffed out and ears still flattened. She looked as if she could spring on the tom at any given moment had Nettlemask not been standing in-between the two. "And you.." He growled to the she-cat. "Go to the healers' den and get that scratch cleaned."
Briarflame was about to open her maw to say something more but Nettlemask's sharp glare cut her off. Huffing, she slunk off. The she-cat knew she shouldn't have said what she did, but now it was too late. What more could she do? Apologize? Humph. Yeah right. The tom had started it, not her.
Turning back to Cherrystorm, Nettlemask frowned. "Start a patrol or something." He mewed, looking to Falloweyes. "Take Soothawk with you, I have my paws full. He isn't busy." In fact, Nettlemask had no clue what his littermate was doing, but as far as he knew the tom was always up for patrol. With that, the tom slunk back off to Nettlemask, grumbling under his breath in annoyance.
