[ i've been meaning to ever since it came out owo ] The light sound of pawsteps caught the she-cat's attention. Honeyteller perked her orange ears forward, her head following the movement soon after. There was a moment when her amber eyes flashed with confusion before recognition danced in their depths. A small smile curled the edges of her muzzle as she noticed Mistwatcher padding forward. "It is," she agreed with a soft sigh slipping from her parted open maw. "I've been doing fine." It wasn't until Mistwatcher said something about gathering cobwebs that the mostly white female perked up. Something to do? It seemed as if the Givers were watching over her and allowing her to busy her paws. It seemed that as the omen-teller that she didn't get to go out and do as much as her Clanmates, and that bothered her deep inside. Mostly because she just needed something to keep her mind occupied. Like the smile that crossed her face earlier, another one came to life, bigger this time. A soft mrrrow of amusement slipped from Honeyteller. "The protector tenderpaws are advancing pretty fast. And there are some," she wasn't going to point to any cat, but it was obvious that she was referring to Sagepaw, "that will certainly be too enthusiastic to get rowdy." Before she finished with her comments, she quickly added, "I would love to help gather cobwebs."
- - -
A huff came from the pale ginger she-cat as she watched her father go about his own way. Why did he have to be so darn persistent in trying to protect her? She was practically a protector herself, she could watch out for herself. Cherrystorm had never been like this before Hollyheart had passed away; ever since the young she-cat's mother had joined the Givers Cherrystorm had grown way too over protective over his daughter. To Sagepaw it was terrible. She just wanted to prove to every cat out there that she didn't need to be treated like a kit anymore, especially by her father. Sagepaw quickly turned on her paws when she heard her name. The annoyance she felt from her father from earlier vanished as soon as she noticed her friend Ospreypaw. A wide grin stretched across her visage. "Hiya!" She chirped, bouncing closer to the tomcat. Sagepaw then tilted her head, noticing the nervous look that was plaguing her friend. "Oh, yeah, he's just being mouse-brained again. He wanted me to get on a patrol with him today, but he's not my mentor or anything. I'm tired of him getting Amberstep or Icetail to put us on patrols together." Sagepaw sighed out her annoyance until she bounced back to being a spunky little furball. "Probably. Why don't we make our own patrol? Me and you, maybe even Rainpaw! A tenderpaw patrol, and hey, I can teach you how to be an amazing hunter." The tabby lightly nudged her friend with a mirthful laugh.

{{ Rainpaw poked her little head out to look at Sagepaw, eyeing her with a clear mixture of excitement and curiosity. It well known throughout the camp how great her hearing was, but also how strong her curiosity could be as well. In fact, it was often what led her into all sorts of trouble, the kind that made her parents, and her mentor, groan and shake their heads in disapproval. What could she say? She loved a good adventure. Rainpaw let out a squeak as something fluffy hit her back legs and jumped nearly a foot in the air.
Foxstrike had been passing close by and had struck her gently with his tail, a hint of amusement gleaming in his eyes. "Don't go getting into trouble, now, tenderpaw," he teased lightly as he passed, heading straight for the camp's entrance.
Rainpaw just laughed in response, assuming he had some protector duties to attend to. Then, turning her attention back to Sagepaw once more, she said cheerfully, "Now, did I hear you say patrol? If you're talking about an adventure, you can go ahead and count me in." Which reminded Rainpaw that she had absolutely no idea what was actually going on. It wasn't a wise idea to agree to something she didn't even know about, but Sagepaw was her friend, after all. "...Is this about your dad, Sagepaw?" }}

Mistwatcher gave a soft nod, shifting and straightening when Honeyteller noticed him. He admired their omen-teller, even if some didn’t- he, at least, believed that the Givers knew what was best in appointing her. Every leader had their downfalls, even the great Arrowteller, and he quirked a little smile when he remembered of how she had stumbled a bit in appointing the Elites. Lost in thought, he jolted a bit when Honeyteller spoke, chuckling at her obvious gratefulness at his intervention. “That is wonderful to hear,” he meowed, gaze drifting off of her and over the camp before he remembered that, yes, he had been talking with his omen-teller. “They are indeed reckless at times,” he murmured, a rumbling purr coming up when he thought of the tenderpaws. “Even little Ospreypaw when Sagepaw gets him to follow her on adventures- it must be that loner tom’s fault. Even if Kestrelheart is fierce, she’s far from reckless.” He hummed before dipping his head again at her decision. “I would be honored for you to join me. Cobwebs have been cleared out the closest to the camp, so we may need to go on a bit of a walk.”
--
The light brown tabby shrunk when she loudly greeted him, spooking a bit and scooting away until he relaxed and took a quiet bite of the mouse. Sagepaw was quite outgoing, and he wished he had her drive- but he’d follow her anyways, even if she was brash. “Icetail’s always unfair,” he agreed with a hesitant mew. “And, uh, Amberstep.” His eyes flickered to where the dark ginger she-cat was talking with a group of protectors on border patrols and back down to the mouse, eating it while Sagepaw talked. “I don’t know if that would be a good idea,” Ospreypaw mumbled, bobbed tail flicking about. “The protectors are better at catching food. Shouldn’t we ask one of them to help us? Even if it isn’t your dad?” He glanced over when Rainpaw arrived, nodding to them. "Hello, Rainpaw. Uh, still, shouldn't we get a protector?"

A spark of intense excitement danced across Sagepaw's face when she spotted Rainpaw coming over. It seemed as if the gang was all here now. "Yeah! A tenderpaw only patrol," the ginger tabby chimed. A rebellious cat at heart, Sagepaw always had some sort of out there idea in mind, and having Rainpaw and Ospreypaw with her made it all the more fun when they were able to sneak out of camp. Sagepaw felt her ears flatten ever so slightly when her father was mentioned. The she-cat glanced away, rolling her eyes at the thought of Cherrystorm. "He's just so over-protective! If Hollyheart was still here he wouldn't be like this. He was a pretty awesome father before Hollyheart died." Sagepaw brushed aside her frustration for the sake of Ospreypaw. She knew she could be brash, she prided herself in being herself, and she tried to calm her personality for his sake. Sagepaw also tried to get Ospreypaw to express himself more, to feel more confident in himself. "Oh, those two? I'm sure we could at least talk Icetail into letting us go. Icetail is honestly pretty cool," Sagepaw mewed with admiration toward the white tom. "I'm practically a fully trained protector already, but I guess we could try to get some trained cat to come with us." In a rare moment she softened her features and voice; Sagepaw knew how Ospreypaw was, and as his friend, she tried her best to not make him uncomfortable. He never made her feel itchy under her skin, and she didn't want to make him feel that way either.
- - -
These were the times that Honeyteller enjoyed - spending time with her Clanmates as if she were just a simple member of the Clan. Being trained as nothing more than being the omen-teller, Honeyteller never really had interactions with her fellow tenderpaws when she had just been Honeypaw. She never had the chance to really gain friends. At times she felt the hollow emptiness of loneliness in thinking about how she had missed out on such trivial parts of Clan life. Who would even be her friend if she had had the chance to make some? Perhaps Mistwatcher; he always seemed to be a calm and compassionate tomcat. He was kind, caring, the kind of cat Honeyteller liked to hang around with. But that was enough of that. She had to think about the task at paw. Honeyteller nodded in agreement. "I would have never thought of those two as being as close as they are. Opposites attract, I suppose." A chuff of laughter came from the she-cat before she shrugged, her thoughts growing a bit more serious. "Maybe...but surely that loner wasn't bad if Kestrelheart loved him...but..." She stopped before saying anything more. If that loner had been truly something and truly in love with Kestrelheart, wouldn't he had wanted to try and join the Clan to be with his mate? But that wasn't what Mistwatcher was here to discuss with Honeyteller. "Perhaps we could head to falcon pine," the bi-colored feline suggested as she began to stretch out her lithe body before taking a few steps closer to the camp's exit. "Unless cobweb doesn't grow well there." She wasn't a healer. She had no idea where cobweb grew the best in the territory, it had never been part of her training.

Ospreypaw seemed to wilt, dithering around and looking unsure of himself while Rainpaw and Sagepaw talked. He was always the shy one, the one to talk them down, and he always seemed to do a bad time at it. They were training to protect the clan while he looked at herbs and helped to heal the bigger protector population, and it was always as if he wasn’t doing well at it. “Let’s not talk to Icetail,” he whispered, shrinking. Neither Rainpaw or Sagepaw had seen how Icetail seemed to hate him just for the fact that he was the son of a loner and Kestrelheart, and it scared him to even approach Icetail. His mother could stand up to any of the cats badmouthing them, but him- the fail of a tenderpaw he was- seemed to disappoint cats left and right. “Um, could we talk to Amberstep instead?” He shifted around, looking at the ground. “She’s talking with a few protectors. Maybe one of them wouldn’t mind stepping off of the border patrol.”
-
Mistwalker’s tail flicked as he chuckled in amusement, watching while Rainpaw joined the duo. “Yes, I suppose so. It really is a shame that Kestrelheart had kits with the loner, though- he betrayed her, and she shouldn’t have associated with a non-Clan member to begin with.” He paused and sighed, moving closer to the camp’s exit with Honeyteller. “Anyways, enough of gossip- there should be some cobwebs around there. We don’t usually gather from there, but we’ve been running out and it would be best if we had more than we want for the future.” He started walking out of the camp with Honeyteller, dipping his head to Amberstep and some protectors as they passed. “If we keep a steady pace, we should be there in a bit. It’s certainly not the closest place to camp, but it’s not an unreasonable distance.”

{{ "Hi, Ospreypaw," Rainpaw greeted him quietly and kindly. She always tried to dampen her hyperness down a bit for him, as she was very considerate of his more timid and shy nature. He was certainly the odd one out in the group, although Rainpaw thought of him as just a good of a friend as Sagepaw, even if he wasn't as outgoing. "I agree. I don't think we should talk to Icetail. Or any of the Elites. They would never approve of an all tenderpaw patrol." There would be a big debate and, in the end, Rainpaw doubted any of them would get to go anywhere on their own for a long time.
"I say we just go by ourselves," Rainpaw suggested with a flick of her grey-tipped tail. "We're perfectly capable of taking care of ourselves. Why do we need a protector to tag along and ruin all of our fun?" A protector would be too much of a stick in the mud for Rainpaw's tastes. On their own, they could explore so much more! }}

When it came to Ospreypaw a whole new side of Sagepaw came out. She was still as fiery as her pale pelt and blazing eyes, but she was softer, more nurturing. There was something about the way she treated the tomcat that would remind others of a dam and her kit; not that Sagepaw treated Ospreypaw as a kit, she for sure didn't, he was her equal as much as Rainpaw was, but there was a softness in her that was brought out by Ospreypaw. "We can talk to Amberstep." Sagepaw did have to admit to herself that she was put down by not having the option of talking with Icetail now. The tomcat was just so amazing. He was a bit snippy, yes, but he was the perfect tomcat in Sagepaw's mind. Looking at Rainpaw, Sagepaw took her other friend's comments into consideration. Rainpaw had a point, but there was also Ospreypaw's concerns to take into consideration. "How about this," the tabby began and puffed her chest out, "we ask Amberstep first. If she says we can't take a protector with us, we just go on ahead with our tenderpaw only patrol. If Amberstep thinks we don't need a protector, then surely we're strong enough to go out on our own." To Sagepaw that seemed like a pretty good plan. Surely her friends would agree, right?
-
For a long time Honeyteller had looked up to Kestrelheart. She was a wonderful protector and had a lot to offer GroundClan. Even when it had come out that Kestrelheart had become mates with a loner Honeyteller had felt the urge to not punish the she-cat. Kestrelheart had never been punished, not even by Cloudteller as he had been alive during the time Ospreypaw had been born. If anything the protector's punishment was that of being an outcast now. "I do wish things had been different for her," whispered the omen-teller. If only Kestrelheart had been able to find a tomcat within the Clan to settle down with... But Mistwatcher was right. Enough of the gossip. The omen-teller, even as she stepped out of camp and walked out into the open territory, kept her attention on Mistwatcher. She had just enough of her attention on the area around them to keep on the alert for any dangers. "Walks are always nice on days like this, at least," Honeyteller mewed after a moment of keeping silent. "It's a great way to enjoy the weather before any rain starts." Quickly the she-cat looked up at the still blue sky. The scent of rain was still there and the clouds were slowly growing thicker with the wet weather, but other than that everything about this morning day was refreshing and nice.

Ospreypaw softly listened to both of the she-cat’s concerns, bobbed tail worriedly flicking back and forth. Both of them were too soft on him sometimes, but that was alright compared to most of the clan’s standoffishness and even hatred towards him. Icetail managed to spook him so badly every time he was near that Ospreypaw had to have his mother between them when they talked, or else he would cower and bolt. He had done that enough as a kit before he became a tenderpaw and gained his friends- Rainpaw and Sagepaw. “Amberstep is kinder,” he commented with a hesitant meow. “And that’s an alright idea. We should head over to her, um. Yeah.” He shuddered with nerves as the three of them padded over to the second Elite, not looking directly at her as she finished talking to the border patrol and looked at them. “Hello, tenderpaws,” she said with some warmth, making Ospreypaw relax a bit. “What do you need? Did any of you want to go on the border patrol that I just sent out?” She watched them and noticed Ospreypaw stay behind his friends, narrowing her eyes a bit but eventually leaving him alone. It wasn’t right to treat him different for his father- she hadn’t ever done that and she wouldn’t start now.
-
Mistwatcher scrunched his nose up at the scent of rain, picking up the pace to just a notch above a steady walk. Things like these were pleasant until storms rolled through, even if cobwebs could still be carried under rain. Each paw was carefully placed, his absentmindedness gone while he was on a herb-gathering mission, each glance around them aware of their surroundings even if he couldn’t fight off predators. “Walks are pleasant until the rain falls,” he mewed with a slight frown. “Most cats in the Clan are short-furred but for a long-furred cat like me, rain is much more miserable. We’d best be trying to get there before the rain starts. It doesn’t look like it’ll last too long, so we can stay in one of the few hollowed trunks around there where the cobwebs are until it lets out. There’s no pleasant thing in heading back soaking wet.”

Badgerpaw | Male | Tenderpaw Badgerpaw is a large snowshoe (pale cream/tan, dark brown, and white) tomcat with clear blue eyes. No family ; unknown sexuality & romantic orientation for now.
Swiftfawn | Female | Protector Swiftfawn is a slender calico and white she-cat with forest green eyes. wip personality No family ; pansexual Palefox | Male | Protector Palefox is a tall, long white-furred tom with bi-colored eyes; his left eye is amber and his right eye is blue. He is easily confused and skeptical. He's also quite quirky yet amiable towards his clanmates. No family ; Bisexual ;
Hickoryblossom | Female | Protector Hickoryblossom is a long-furred grey-brown classic tabby she-cat with a white chest, underbelly, and socks. She has deep green eyes. This feline is spunky, full of determination and courage. Though she is also clumsy and tends to eavesdrop on conversations that she isn't included in. At Sagepaw's idea being accepted by Ospreypaw, the light ginger she-cat puffed her fur out in pride. If Ospreypaw thought her idea was alright, then it was a great idea. Really, Ospreypaw's opinion mattered a lot to Sagepaw in the long run. If he didn't want to do anything then she wouldn't pressure him into anything. Padding side-by-side with Ospreypaw Sagepaw was nothing but confidence as she padded up to Amberstep. The young female looked directly up at the heavily scarred elite. With no hesitation Sagepaw meowed, "We want to go on our own patrol. Are there any protectors we can bring, just one?" Sagepaw kept her gaze on Amberstep without blinking. There was no way Amberstep intimidated the young tabby. Why would the tenderpaw be intimidated? There was absolutely no need for it.
- - -
Honeyteller picked up her pace as Mistwatcher did. Not every cat was fond of the water like she was, and as a long-furred cat such as Mistwatcher, Honeyteller was sure being wet was not fun. "I myself like the rain. It's a pleasant feeling to have the droplets run down your fur, but as you said, you are long-furred." The soft-furred she-cat used her amber gaze to glance over the tomcat for a moment, taking in just how long and thick his fur was. Unlike her fur that was as water-repellent as that of a duck's, the healer beside her seemed as if his fur would soak in water like moss. If the rain were to start coming down before they made it back then Mistwatcher's idea of staying inside a hollowed tree trunk wasn't bad. "That sounds like a swell idea if we're not faster than the rain clouds." As the words slipped off the omen-teller's tongue, she glanced back up to the sky. It was still mostly robin egg blue, but the clouds seemed to be coming faster than Honeyteller had originally thought they would.

( good morning! )
Amberstep watched as the three tenderpaws waited on her word. She gave a soft mrrow of amusement to herself, looking over them. Both Sagepaw and Rainpaw seemed hopeful, and even Ospreypaw had a bit of it in his eyes. They would all be admirable protectors and healers one day. They just needed to tone down their sense of adventure- they were as thick as thieves, and Amberstep wouldn’t be surprised if they left the camp on their own without telling anyone. She waited for a long moment until the three were waiting on her word before giving it and dipping her head, tail waving in friendliness. “I’m afraid that most of the available protectors are out on patrol. I will join you three on the hunting patrol, then. The protectors that are asleep won’t mind not being woken up, hmm?” Ospreypaw seemed to greatly relax in that moment, pressing close to Sagepaw. He wouldn’t say how much he had been wanting someone to accompany them, even someone as intimidating as Amberstep- Now they’d do better against predators and anything that could possibly hurt them. His eyes flickered to the sky and he winced, quietly speaking up now. “We might want to stay close to camp,” he mewed, just loud enough for them to hear. “Clouds are approaching and I can smell rain.” “Good job at noticing that, Ospreypaw,” Amberstep praised, making him jump but glow with a moment of pride before hiding again.
-
“I’m not adverse to water as long as it’s not on me,” Mistwatcher meowed with a laugh, paws softly padding on the forest floor. “I can get my paws wet as much as any other cat, but being soaked isn’t my idea of a nice day.” He knew that long fur was irregular in the clan, but his mother had gifted him with it and he would forever be proud of his fur. He kept the pace quick but steady, not tiring out from moons and moons of trailing after his quick mentor as a tenderpaw. Even when he had been deemed a healer he had never stopped going at a good pace through the territory- it kept him nimble just in case a predator attacked, and he was never able to defend himself well against either predators or other cats. As they got closer, he kept a lookout for predators or other patrols- he might be a bit forgetful, but at times like these he was alert.

》Good morning.《
{{ Amberstep was one of the few protectors Rainpaw didn't actually mind accompanying them on their little trip. Not nearly as boring and pushy as some of the other protectors would have been if they had asked them instead, that was for sure. Then again, Rainpaw had kind of wanted them all the go by themselves, prove that they could do just as much as any full grown protector with just tenderpaws. However, Amberstep joining them was, admittedly, a bettee idea. This way, if they ran into trouble, they would definitely stand a chance. Not only that, but Ospreypaw was her friend and if this made him feel more comfortable, she was all for it. "A little rain can be fun!" She chipped in, excitedly flicking her tail.
Rainpaw was practically bouncing with energy, as she always was. Her mentor never seemed to be able to tire her out, no matter how hard Kestrelheart tried to. No one could match Rainpaw in terms of pure energy, except maybe Sagepaw, which was probably why they got along so well. "Well, at least until I get my paws all muddy and have to wash off. That's not much fun." }}
