Introduction Super edgy introduction here
About
ToadClan is a seemingly normal Clan, with normal ranks, normal government, normal appearances, and normal names. However, they live in a melancholic world where dangers lurk around every corner. Unlike most Clans, where the dangers are almost always another Clan or a wild predator, their danger can range from a curse rapidly spreading through the Clan to a rabbit kicking out a warrior's eyeball. Spooky, odd occurrences aren't rare in ToadClan. When a cat breaks the warrior code, they normally hear voices in the wind telling them that they are. Occasionally, whole patrols will disappear with no trace of where they went to. ToadClan also, occasionally, performs sacrifices to assure their well-being. It has been proven that, without the sacrifices, ToadClan will suffer and die. Directory

Characteristics ToadClan is not a Clan of diversity or kindness. Much rather, it's a Clan of isolation and insensitivity. They normally have lighter-colored pelts that are commonly gray, cream, pinkish-gray, or fawn. She-cats are commonly dilute tortoiseshells. The cats of ToadClan normally are more compact than most cats, with thicker bodies and shorter legs. ToadClan cats are characterized as being cold and insensitive, caring little about the feelings of others. They try to isolate themselves from cats outside of the Clan. They rarely let in outsiders. Though sweeter, kinder cats are not uncommon, the Clan has a reputation that cannot be beat by just a few cats.
Territory
ToadClan lives in a boggy forest, filled with ponds, streams, and wildlife. The primary undergrowth is wild blackberry bushes(brambles), ferns, and stinging nettles. The winters in ToadClan are rather cold, but not too snowy, while the summers are warm and damp. It is very wet in the Clan. The territory is very hilly as well.
Here are some of the major landmarks in ToadClan territory: - Gray Lake: An ocean, but most just call it a lake. It spreads out all around them. When it isn't gray and stormy, twolegs drive monsters on its waters. Cats sometimes die by being swept away by the waves.
- Camp: A ring of trees placed on the top of a hill. It's surrounded by undergrowth, rocky outcrops, and more trees, also a stream that flows out to the sea. Sometimes cats fall from the steeply sloped hill and die.
- Thunderpath: A concrete strip of black stretching across the territory. It is parallel to the sea and placed in between the shore and camp. Cats can get hit by the monsters on it, but there's a valley underneath it that allows for easy travel through it. The valley has the stream going through it.
- Twoleg Farm: A farm with cows, pigs, and chickens. There's also a garden that medicine cats can get herbs from. Cats who come there sometimes gets trampled by the animals.
- Bawling forest: A forest filled with primarily willow trees. It has a naturally sad atmosphere, and weird things happen in it. Each morning, there's usually a layer of mist covering it. Cats commonly disappear while travelling in it.
- Toad Statue: A rock that looks like a toad. ToadClan's ancestors first met here to create ToadClan. Every half-moon, the medicine cats go to visit this and see if they can interpret any signs near it. Camp
ToadClan's camp has everything a normal camp should, a leader's den, an elders' den, a medicine den, a nursery, an apprentices' den, and a warriors' den. The camp is a group of trees on the top hill. It's surrounded by undergrowth, other trees, and rocky outcrops.
The leader sleeps in the branches of a tree that looms over camp. This also is where the leader beckons the Clan. Every once in awhile, a leader has a deathly fear of heights. In that case, they usually sleep in the Warriors' den, and they call the Clan from a mound that is raised a bit higher than the rest of the camp. The tree is also on that mound.
The Elders' den is a cat-made hole made under a tree. It has its entrance covered by a few ferns.
The Nursery is stuck in a former fox den under a tree, and its exit is covered up by a bramble. It's the warmest, safest den in camp. It's directly next to the fresh-kill pile, which is under a small bush.
The Apprentices' den is placed inside of a dip in the ground below a bramble bush. It's the farthest from the nursery because ToadClan believes that it helps bring independence to young cats.
The Warriors' den is a large series of bushes, ferns, brambles, and trees that covers up quite a bit of camp's space. It takes a lot of careful work to maintain the den, so only mature warriors, elders, and permanent queens are allowed to adjust the vines. It's actually a duty of permanent queens and elders to fix and adjust dens.
The Medicine Den is under the tree that the leader sleeps on. Medicine cats store their herbs in their den and sleep in the den, but patients sleep in the protective salmonberry bush behind it.

History ToadClan did not always exist. This may not be a shock to you, reader, but it is to the kits of ToadClan. Before ToadClan, many seasons ago, the territory of ToadClan was taken up by many different Clans. Those Clans' names have been long forgotten by history.
The cats of the pre-ToadClan era were always happy and cheery. They helped each other out, there was always a rainbow in the sunny sky, and prey laid under every bush in the forest. Most cats living in that time credited their happiness to the fairies that lived in what ToadClan now calls the Bawling Forest. Those fairies had vowed to protect all the Clans in the area for a simple trade: the Clans must prevent each other from falling.
One day, during a tradition called a "gathering," all the Clans gathered at a hill. All except for one. The other Clans worried about the missing Clan, but they didn't visit because they were certain that the Clan would be back next gathering.
It wasn't.
Soon after that gathering, the joyful territory lost its happy aura. Terrible tempests rolled into the territory, creating rain that made the ground soggy and knocking down trees by the dozens. It seemed that many cats died a day. At first, the Clans thought it was only an unlucky spell. However, they soon realized that it was a punishment.
Several moons later, the scattered remnants of all of the Clans gathered together by an odd statue of a toad that had appeared . It had symbols scratched on it, but no cat could read it. The cats who had survived spoke among themselves, wondering what they should do. They barely progressed in deciding until one of the cats, Toadtail, collapsed onto the ground.
The cats stood around in a circle, fearful. They didn't quite understand what was happening. Were cats now dying from seemingly nothing? However, they were calmed when the cat's eyes reopened.
That cat went to the center of them and described the experience she had while she was unconscious. The ceremony, to the ears of the others, sounded like a leader's ceremony. The cat obtained nine lives and a set of instructions by ghostly cats. The cats had told him to create a new Clan with all of the survivors. She did, naming the Clan ToadClan after herself.
Traditions
Kit sacrificing is not the only unique tradition in ToadClan, but it is one of the most violent. Most traditions involve spilling blood for some superstitions reason or for some sort of test of ability. Here are a few of their traditions and the history behind them:
- The Sacrificing of Kits - The first leader of ToadClan started this tradition. Toadstar claimed that sacrificing kits would prevent any disasters like the one that caused ToadClan to be formed. This ceremony is always carried out at the first frost of the winter season using the youngest kit in the Clan. The kit is brought to the toad statue and placed on top of it. Then, the medicine cat kills the kit. How the kit is killed depends on the medicine cat.
- The Feast Under the Moon - Every full-moon night, all of the Clan is ordered to stay up, talk, and eat. It's a time to calmly settle conflicts in ToadClan. Making loud noises during the full-moon nights are frowned upon. Before the feast, every healthy cat above the age of six moons must fast. One of the early leaders of ToadClan made this tradition. It's rumoured that it started out as a punishment for disrespectful cats.
- The Coming of an Apprentice - This ceremony is the first out of a series of traditions that signal the stages in a growing cat's life. When a cat becomes six moons old, they are brought outside of camp to a deep pool of water. Then, the leader tears a gash open in their flank before tossing them in the water. If the cat survives, they become an apprentice. If they don't, oh well. This tradition has been around since long before ToadClan. But, it's assumed to exist because of something special about the pool. When a cat's blood comes into contact with the water in it, the blood changes color. The color represents something about their personality(list on the joining page).
- The Leaving - Before a cat can become a warrior, they must be sent away from the Clan for seven days. Being sent away can sometimes be very unexpected and abrupt for many apprentices. ToadClan assesses their apprentices once a moon, and it's up to the mentor of the apprentice to decide whether or not the apprentice is ready for warriorhood. On the seven days that the apprentice is sent away, they cannot enter Clan territory or their time resets. When and if they come back, they will become a warrior.
- The Fight - This is the third ceremony that a cat can do. It signifies an ordinary warrior becoming a senior warrior. After a cat has trained their first apprentice and they have at least reached the age of 45 moons, a warrior can request a fight with the leader. The leader can decline or accept the request, depending if they feel that the requester is ready. The leader and warrior will fight. It doesn't matter how the fight ends out. If the battle between the warrior and leader starts, the warrior becomes a senior warrior. Most cats don't go through this until they are 60 moons.
- Last Hunt - This is the final ceremony that any cat will go through. When a cat feels as if they are unable to be a warrior anymore, they must talk to their leader and medicine cat. If their leader and medicine cat feels the same way, then the final ceremony will begin. The entire Clan will take a break on that day, stand to the sidelines and cheer on the retiring cat. The cat who is retiring has to bring as much prey as possible back to camp.
There are also other minor traditions in ToadClan. For example, every apprentice must visit the toad statue at least once. A medicine cat has to visit the toad statue every new-moon. They also have the nine lives ceremony for new leaders.
Beliefs
ToadClan has an assortment of beliefs, many of them revolving around luck and death. The Toad is a common symbol in ToadClan, the Toad signifies death and destruction. It's believed that if one sees a toad, they will die in the next moon. ToadClan also believes that any rogue that sees a cat from their Clan will die in the next moon as well.
Rainbows in ToadClan signify good-coming for the next two seasons, unless there are kits born on the day the rainbow was spotted. That means, to them anyways, the kits "absorbed" the evilness from the environment, so they must be terminated.
ToadClan believes in StarClan. There is nothing odd about their StarClan. They still get prophecies from them, and they obtain omens too. However, cats cannot willingly get in contact with StarClan, but StarClan can contact them.

Rules
1: Be realistic - When I say "be realistic," I mean no six-legged purple flying cats who can shoot fireballs from their mouths. I also mean that your cat who has lost use in both hind legs cannot survive one disaster after another. Your cat cannot give birth to a litter of 27 kits. Your cat can't speak human, dog, squirrel, and tree all at the same time! Also, please have characters that follow the Clan character a bit.
2: No mary-sues/gary stues - Mary-sues and gary-stues are character where the world essentially revolves around them(for or against), also they are very special(in a bad way or in a good way). Just make your characters not have all bad traits or have all good traits. Make it a mixture of good or bad.
3: Roleplay only your own character - It's annoying when someone just trods into a roleplay, then they stuff like "[PUT YOUR CHARACTER HERE] swiftly beats up a rogue. Then, [PUT THEIR CHARACTER HERE] praised them for it." Don't be the person who does that.
4: No advertising or spam - Please, do not come into my thread and tell people to join your roleplay or online forum. It's really rude.
5: Keep genders equivalent - If we pushed all the non-cis character aside and sorted the rest by gender, I want both piles to be around the same amount. It's only realistic.
6: Everything must be WCRP-forum appropriate - No detailed mating, please. Unless it's on PM. Don't PM the person who plays your character's mate a starter for a detailed mating scene, unless they say it's okay.
7: Follow the forum rules! - I really don't want this roleplay to be deleted
8: Clearly define out-of-character and in-character
9: Be active - If you're inactive for long enough, your partner has permission to end the roleplay with you. I will keep track of people who are role playing the deputy , leader, and medicine cat. If you're inactive without a warning for long enough, I'll have to demote you.
10: Your formatting must be easy to read - If it isn't, your partner has permission to just leave the roleplay they have with you. Formatting that isn't easy to read normally has dark or small text. If you can't find a format that is easy to read, just use ordinary text!
11: Don't spotlight yourself - Some things can be all about your character, but not everything. I understand that you might like being in the spotlight, but it's selfish not to share it.
12: Ask me about powers and plots - Powers are allowed, but only if they have been approved by me and they are associated with a plot. With plots: Any idea can work as one. Please contact me to add plots to the front page.
13: Do not reference other roleplays in this one - ToadClan is all alone out there, so it's really odd that they would encounter other Clans. Kit-_ing when other Clans suddenly invade this one to steal kits is not allowed. However, making a rogue group that steals kits would be 100% fine. Warrior Code
1: Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may not have friendships with cats from outside the Clan, and you may not have romances either.
2: Do not leave the territory without permission from your leader.
3: Elders, kits, and queens must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders.
4: Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.
5: A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.
6: Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.
7: A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.
8: The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies or retires.
9: After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.
10: A gathering of all cats in the Clan must happen every full-moon. This is a time to settle arguments and make peace.
11: Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.
12: No warrior may neglect a kit in pain or in danger, even if that kit isn't of your Clan.
13: The word of the Clan leader is the warrior code.
14: An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or it is necessary for self-defense.
15: A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet. Relations
