Bracken padded back towards the den, but halted when he scented a strange scent. Fox! He began to run, in hopes of reuniting with Flame before the fox showed itself, but to no avail. The fox, which had been stalking a rabbit, turned at the sound of Bracken's noisy footsteps. Immediately forgetting the rabbit, it blocked off Bracken.
"Flame!" He yowled. "Help!"
The fox leapt at him, teeth drawn back in a snarl. It aimed a bite at Bracken's neck, but he was able to dodge it a moment before. Bracken reared back on his hind paws, battering the fox's muzzle with swift, precise blows, but the fox charged forward, knocking Bracken off balance. He landed heavily on his side, the breath knocked out of him. The fox swiftly clamped its jaws around Bracken's hind leg and shook viciously. Bracken felt a sharp pain in his leg as a loud snap sounded.
"Help me!" Bracken screeched, pure terror lacing his voice.

A voice reached her ears and her hackles rose. "Your brother's calling for you." She mewed in slight terror. She sprung toward the nearest tree and pulled herself up to the branches and began making her way along. She knew there was nothing she could do to help in this fight, but she didn't want to turn a blind eye either.

The fox released Bracken's leg. The tom desperately tried to haul himself away from the fox, but the beast struck again, aiming for the other leg. Once again, the fox twisted and jerked the leg. A sickening snap, followed by another yowl of sheer pain from Bracken signaled the break of a bone. "Someone save me!" He shrieked, terror wild in his voice.

Echostar's ears perked at a yowl of pain mingled with terror. "Foxdung. Sorry Viperstrike." She apologized, turning and sprinting toward the sound. She would have a bad feeling in her stomach for a moon if she didn't help now. She remembered her fifth life Starclan had given her. Self sacrifice, so she may not neglect a cat in need, even if they weren't from her clan. Her form streaked through the forest, resembling a blurring shadow with gleaming anger eyes. The scent of fox wafted over her, but she refused to recoil. Soon the fox came in sight with a lithe tom who's leg was twisted in an unnatural position. Her claws glided across the fox's hind leg before moving out of it's fatal reach.

(Btw, Bracken is small and slender, not bulky as your post said.)
The fox released Bracken with a surprised yelp. The brown tom clawed himself to the shelter of a thorny bush, desperate to escape the fox. The pain in his hindlegs were sharp, and when he looked at them, he saw that they were bleeding and bent in awkward positions, one bone even visible, jutting out of his leg. As the adrenaline slowly began to lose effect, the pain grew worse. Before long, it grew too painful to handle and he blacked out.
Flame heard the cries of his brother all the way from the den. He immediately bolted in the direction of the agonized shrieks, his fear for Bracken drowning out everything else in his mind. By the time he arrived, his brother was no where to be seen, but there was a she-cat combating a fox. He could scent his brother's fear, along with blood. Flame launched himself at the fox, surprising it. He clawed at it's side, which drew it's attention from the she-cat and to him.

Echostar dashed forward and swiped at the fox's exposed neck, but got a claw-ful of fur, barely scratching the fox's skin. It turned its attention back to her again and swiped at her, but she jumped back, one of its claws sliced her nose. She hissed in annoyance, but now that there was another cat here, it would be easier to drive off the fox.

As the fox turned on the she-cat, Flame took his chance. He lunged for the fox's hind leg, his fangs clamping down firmly on the russet paw. Flame pulled, tearing at the fox's flesh. The salty tang of the fox's blood was thick on Flame's tongue.

The fox snarled and went to grab Flame by the neck, but she dashed in again and swiped at its neck again, this time drawing blood. Seeing as it would be badly injured with time, the fox turned and retreated into the forest with another snarl. The black leader's nose stung and had a sharp pain, but she turned toward the bush where Bracken had taken refuge. "I suppose you know the tom? He seemed badly injured." She informed him, worried since they didn't have a medicine cat they could bring over to help. She only knew the basics, like cobwebs stop bleeding, poppy seeds are used for pain and the bright gold flower, marigold, was applied for infection. That and she recalled, unpleasantly, when their medicine cat had pushed her shoulder back into place after a fight with a pack of rouges.

"Bracken!" Flame exclaimed, rushing toward the bush. He dragged his brother out of the bush, ignoring the thorns that tore at his fur. he stared, horrified at his brother's mangled legs. The brown tom's breathing was shallow, and blood still trickled steadily from his devastated legs. Flame turned to the she-cat. "Please help him!" He cried.

Viperstrike perked his ears up at Echostar's dismissal. He growled inwardly and followed her as fast as he could. Though, by the time he reached the place the fox was located, Echostar and the fox were already in a heated battle. "Echostar!" Viperstrike shouted, before snarling and moving closer to the fox. While it was distracted with the others, he jumped to it's side and clawed it's flank, jumping off quickly. "You do not hurt my friend...."

(The fox already turned tail and ran)
"I-I'm not sure I can, but I can try." Echostar replied to Flame, unsure. "Can you gather a bit of wet moss?" She asked before turning to Viperstrike who'd approached. "Viperstrike, could you watch Bracken? I'll find marigold and cobwebs." She instructed. They shouldn't be hard to find, but her medical skills were lacking greatly.

(oooh oops xD sorry just forget about the fox part. Viperstrike just arrives late or something idek.)
Viperstrike, noticing all that had happened while he was away, felt immediately ashamed that he couldn't have done more. He was just grateful that Echostar wasn't hurt badly. "Yes, of course." He replied, dipping his head, "Be safe, Echostar. There could be more foxes around." He said, eyeing her as he made his way to Bracken.

"I'm on it." Flame meowed. He immediately sprinted off into the forest. wet moss, wet moss, gotta find wet moss. he thought, frantic. Before long, he found a small stream. He scraped some moss off of a nearby tree and drenched it. Grabbing as much as he could carry, Flame headed back. The wet moss drenched his chest fur, but he didn't care. His only priority was getting the moss to bracken so the she-cat could help him.

Echostar hurried off and her eyes searched for the bright orange-yellow flowers. Soon, she found a small patch, dew sat on the petals and reflected the sun. The black she-cat nipped the upper stem and started back toward where Bracken had been. The cobweb wasn't hard to find and she wrapped a swath around her tail before arriving to see Flame approaching and Viperstrike watching over Bracken.

"Is there anything else I need to do?" Asked Flame. He didn't want to sit around, unable to help his brother.

Echostar thought for a moment, setting down the marigold. "Poppyseed or raspberry leaves?" She remembered taking both at different times for pain. Plus, searching for it would subside the pain of watching. She turned and looked at the twisted legs before taking a deep breath. "Starclan, help me not to kill him." She breathed, barely audible. She padded over and took a leg in her jaw before thrusting it up and she heard a 'pop' as it settled into its socket. She nose him over and did the same thing before pushing the bone back into the flesh, hoping she was doing this right. He would probably have a deformation of horrible limp. She took the wet moss and began cleaning the blonde from the wounds, grimacing at her inexperience and how this tom's life would be ruined after this.

"I don't know where any poppy seeds are, but I know where I can find Raspberry leaves!" Flame took off running. There was a raspberry bush near his den. He hurried over and grabbed as many leaves as he could and sprinted back to where the she-cat was treating Bracken. When he returned, he found that the she-cat had relocated the bones to allow them to heal properly. He set the leaves down near her and backed up, anxiously watching her treat his brother.

Echostar set the bloodied moss down and picked up the marigold and chewed it into a poultice. She applied it to Bracken's open wounds and secured with with cobweb before looking over to Flame and padding over. "That's all I can do. My medical skills are lacking, but when he wakes up, have him eat the raspberry leaves, that should help ease the pain." She advised, though she knew the raspberry leaves wouldn't work as well as poppy seeds. She wondered if she should stay, but Viperstrike and herself needed to set up their clan.

"You're leaving?!" Flame exclaimed, disbelief in his voice. "I don't know the first thing about treating injuries! What if something goes wrong, or an infection sets in? There's no way I'd be able to help him!" Flame looked down at his brother and whispered, "What have I done? This is my fault. If I hadn't left you with that cat, this could've all been avoided. It should've been me. I already lost one littermate, I can't lose you, too..."

Echostar gave in. "As I said, I don't know much about healing, I only know from memories of being treated, but I suppose I could stay with you." She looked at Viperstrike, face a mix of apology and hope that he would also stay.

Viperstrike had sat nearby, watching as Echostar tried her best to heal the unconscious tom. He would've tried to help as well, but his medical skills lacked even more than Echostar's. Plus, he wasn't that good with...well, blood and being the one to fix it. That was one of the reasons why he decided to be a warrior, not a medicine cat. His head turned to Echostar as she looked at him, and he gave a half smile, nodding, "I will stay here too. We can always try to reform what we want the camp to be once we return."

"Thank you." Flame replied depressingly, not taking his eyes off of Bracken. "You know, it's kind of ironic, really. If I hadn't been so hostile to other cats in fear of what they might try to do to us, This would've never happened. I would've been right there with Bracken and the fox never would've hurt him, but because I was too stubborn, he was by himself. Lousy brother I turned out to be."

Viperstrike rose his eyes up to meet with Flame's, "You can't blame yourself for something you didn't know was going to happen. After all, you did not know about the fox," He sighed, eyes soft with sympathy, "I understand it's hard being a good brother. Sometimes, things tie you down, when you think you're doing the right thing and you end up making a mistake..." He looked away, "I had a sister... Trust me, sometimes it's a hard thing to do, to protect them. But you do it because you love them." He turned back to Flame, "So don't blame yourself."

"But I knew the fox was nearby!" Flame protested. "I shouldn't have left him alone with a fox on the loose. I was just trying to be stubborn, prove a point, but I just made things worse. so much worse..." He trailed off, looking down at his paws.

Echostar rested her tail on Flame's shoulder. "What's done is done, there's nothing you can do to change that. Feeling guilty won't do anything to help your brother, rather, it will only make him worry about you." She pointed out. "Focuss on how you will improve instead of what you did wrong."

"I-I guess you're right, but I can't help how I feel." Flame responded. "I know I'll always feel guilty, no matter how this ends. If he dies, that'll always weigh down my conscience. If he lives, every time I see him will remind me of how I failed. I'll always try my best to look out for him, but what really hurts is that my best wasn't enough."

"You and your brother will both have to live with the decisions you made, but you should let them make you stronger, not the thing that makes you fall apart." Echostar prompted, hoping her words were of some consolation to him. "Besides, your brother would never blame you for this. Kinhood is stronger than any injury." She wondered if they should invite Bracken and Flame to their clan. They both had the makings of great warriors.

"I guess that makes sense." Flame replied reluctantly. "And I know he wouldn't blame me for this, he's not that kind of cat, but I blame myself for this. No matter what I do in the future, I will always feel responsible for what happened. It may drive me to make better decisions in the future, but I'll still feel guilty, all the same."

Echostar knew this conversation wouldn't get anywhere. "We should move Bracken to a more safe location. The fox might come back to see if we're any weaker now than before." She pointed out.
