His fur prickled in slight uneasiness as it suddenly became hard for him to reply. Mousebrain! Say something. His mumbled quietly to himself and returned the tail wave in greeting gradually, forcing a light smile. "Sleep well?" Thats a nice response idiot. He flattened one ear, blushing mildly.
His fur itched with embarrassment, this whole thing was just getting to his head. Even having her near, was sometimes a distraction. The only thing is, is that he didn't know if it was a good distraction or not, if he even wanted her around.

✒[ I'd be open to having Cinder be in a forbidden relationship or even Speckled tbh c'x ] [ Cinderflight ] Cinderflight chuckled softly and nodded. "I suppose so," Cinderflight said. "Now you're the one giving the orders though, aren't you?" Cinderflight sighed and flicked her tail so that it rested on her paws. "I don't think we've been able to talk since we got the name upgrade, things have been so busy..." Cinderflight still remembered when they were playing a game in camp when Rainstar told Nettlebreeze about Paleheart, which felt like years ago now. She didn't want to say she missed the light hearted conversations she had as an apprentice, because she loved being a warrior, but it felt like she'd been in an endless schedule of hunting patroling. She loved it, but... she missed the closeness she had had with all of her fellow apprentices, that was pretty much gone now. She never saw Speckledhawk or Firepaw, and Nettlebreeze was now the sole medicine cat, sure he did have an apprentice, but he was still kept quite busy. It was all very frustrating.
[ Foxlight ] Foxlight frowned slightly, surprised by his greeting. He was smiling, but it seemed rather thin, maybe even forced. She tried to recall if she had said something wrong the night before, but she wasn't really certain. Foxlight's tail flicked nervously, as doubt filled her mind. Redfur looked very uncomfortable, and she guessed this was because she was talking to him. She couldn't understand why, but she didn't want to intrude. She liked him, a lot, but she didn't want to force her company on him.
"Fairly well," She asked, careful to keep her tone even. "I actually need to fix my nest, the moss is getting a bit old..." She padded into the warrior's den uncertainly, playing it off as this had been her original intention. Which was of course not true, she'd fixed her nest a few days ago...

Redfur cocked his head slightly to the right, studying her expression, frowning inwardly at her attempt to push him aside. Did I do something? Watching Foxlight vanish back into the warriors den made his fur prickle. The nests seemed clean, I thought the apprentice's cleaned them yesterday? He pondered inwardly before following her into the den. "The nest seems clean to me." He purred softly, watching her from the entrance. "Did I do something?"

✒[ Foxlight ] Foxlight turned to stare at him, her eyes bright with confusion.
"'Course not," Foxlight said immediately, surprise littering her voice. She pulled her ears back for a moment, her heart hammering loudly. Now he wants me to be around? She wondered a pang of irritation striking her. Why couldn't toms just say what they wanted?
"You seemed... tense, I thought you wanted to be left alone," She murmured, suddenly very glad there weren't any warriors still sleeping.
[ Cinderflight ] Cinderflight beamed at him and nodded. "I'd enjoy that... a lot," She said sheepishly. She wasn't entirely sure why now she felt as if her ears were about to burn off. She ignored it with a flick of ear and offered Nettlebreeze a bright smile. "I'll race you to the entrance," She said, a playful glint in her eyes. Cinderflight felt like they were apprentices again, the time seemed to melt away and they were back to being close friends.

Taken back by the sudden hostility lacing Foxlight's voice, he studied her briefly before letting his tail drop to the ground slowly. He pushed the feeling aside, mustering a light smile for her. "Listen." He brushed his tail across the ground, shuffling his paws in the process. "Is something bothering you?" He hesitated for a moment but rested the tip of his tail on her flank. "You haven't been yourself ever since the patrol and I've been worried." He admitted regretfully, a feeling of relief erupted from his chest as if something heavy had been lifted. "Your like a littermate to me." He purred softly, studying her expression to see if it had changed.

"Sorry, you shouldn't be worried, I've just been..." Been what? Painfully aware of every word I said to you? Been dying to know if you felt the same way? Foxlight thought. Foxlight shook her pelt as some dirt fell from the ceiling. "A lot's been going on, with the fox attacks and StarClan being silent, I've just been worried too much. Don't worry about it," She said softly. She hadn't lied, but she hadn't said the entire truth.
Like a littermate. At least now she knew, it was better than constantly having to tiptoe around him, being far too careful because of her crush.

Blinking back pain that writhed to emit itself, the tom let out a puzzled sigh. "That doesn't seem like what you wanted to tell me." Flicking his tail, he breathed in the fresh scent of pine mixed with Foxlight's scent. "You don't have to hide anything, I'd still love you for the way I do already." He let our a soft rumbling purr, there, I said it. Will she reject me? or will she just figure that I love her as a friend. "Starclan has been quiet for a while now, and the fox attacks are over. But I can tell that's not what your worried about." Shaking his head, he shuffled his paws nervously, afraid to meet her eyes. Now he could hear his heart thumping and his fur bristling by the minute.
