Ridgefall made his way out of the den, one of the first warriors to wake himself as per unusual. The snow crunched under his paws as she emerged and clung in clumps to his long fur. His nose scrunched at the unpleasant weight before he swung his head up to look around the camp. He saw his soul mate outside as well and slowly made his way over with an irritated frown.
"Morning, Rabbitstar." the tom said with a respectful dip of his head before moving to sit near the other cat. After a beat of silence, Ridgefall asked what had been on the tip of his tongue since he awoke in his nest. "Has Fennelfur and the patrol returned yet?"

Whitedeer's bawling did not cease when the two she-cats began to comfort her, but she began to try muffling herself to keep the whole clan from noticing. It was embarrassing enough that Opalfeather knew exactly why she had broken down. That word shook her very hurt soul, however. Friend. She didn't want to be his friend! That meant seeing him with her. It would be the painful reminder every single day that she won and Whitedeer had not. She would watch them have kits together and grow old together. She just wanted to run away from the clan, or even possibly die. Even in her grief, however, she knew that one would lead to the other in this weather anyway. Dying from the cold was not how she wanted to go--it was too slow. The edge of the cliff looked pretty nice now. 'No... I am already a disappointment. I have already accomplished NOTHING in my life. I will not be laughed at after suicide--others will think its an incredibly dumb reason.' Well, that was one way to look at it. After her tears began to slow down, the white she-cat sniffled out some words. "M..My s-soul. Has t-turned black..." ------
The ruddy red she-cat sat unmoved from her position near the elderly medicine cat's body. She was stone-like now, showing her emotion for the old one by her lack of emotion and quietness. He was a cranky old bat, but he was all they had for a long while for healing. She had unspoken respect for Fennelfur, especially now that he was gone. She was a rude, uncaring individual, but this time things were different. She let the two become emotional and grieve for him without complaint for several moments. Perhaps it had been longer. Meanwhile, she tried to work out what they were going to do. They would insist on burying him and that would be dangerous on their paws. Redwhisper's own paws felt like they were on fire all of the sudden. It was because of a sudden change in temperature. So they had an orange soul amongst them. 'Where was this heat last night? Selfish younglings...' She wanted to grumble her thoughts out loud but this was hardly the time. Instead, she waited multiple more heartbeats before finally whispering, "Come on, let's bury him and get home." It was best for her to suggest it before they started whining about it when she prompted them to leave, eh? The russet tabby turned and began padding past Tawnypaw and out of the log.

"Then I will handle it until you come back." Dawnflame mewed back to him, her whiskers twitching in amusement. He was a good cat and would be a great apprentice to Fennelfur. But it would be no good to keep him isolated and cooped up in this crowded den when he had no work to do. She could practically hear the old tom lecturing her about the social needs of young cats blah blah blah blah... She nudged him forward with her muzzle, flicking her eyes expectantly between him and the entrance. "Go on then."

Rabbitstar's eyes looked surprisingly worn as he sat looking straight forward. It was said that leaders of TempestClan could uncannily feel when a bad storm was brewing, and this one he felt did not carry snow or rain. He swallowed hard before finally turning to his soul partner who had spoken to him. Worry melted into his voice. "Neither he nor the patrol have." He felt so stupid. This was his fault! He should have insisted that his medicine cat stay in. The blizzard had set upon them faster than he believed it would, however. His gray head shook. "What will the clan do without him?" Perhaps it was unwise to speak so unconfidently and troubled to a warrior, but Ridgefall was linked with him in ways not even his own Deputy was. Honeysong had been his pick instead of his own soul mate because he was afraid of both favoritism and because Honeysong was possibly more gentle than him, and a female. It was more of a political choice in the end, honestly, because those would see him as an inviting, equality-promoting leader over the favoring, brutish male. 'StarClan, am I that selfish and prideful?'

Ridgefall, still as stone despite wanting to shiver from both the cold and Rabbitstars words, stared at the camp entrance grimly. What would they do... The clan would panic, he was sure of that. "....we have Dawnflame," the tom murmured gruffly. "She is better than nothing....and we have young Tumblekit and the Moonwillow. He wouldn't have a traditional apprenticeship...." The senior warrior trailed off, not entirely sure of his words but trying to seem confident enough to comfort his long time friend and leader. "We would survive, Rabbitstar."

Firey eyes shot themselves at Tawnypaw as Redwhisper wheeled to face her. The insolent brat didn't deserve what she was about to do, but she did it anyway. Much to what had to be even StarClan's shock, the blue-souled, cranky she-cat pressed her muzzle to the apprentice's ear. Of course she cared about the medicine cat. Though she often even forgot about their soul bond and thought Dawnflame must have just matched them hastily to get every loose end tied, she did feel the emotions beneath her uncaring surface as her soul wept for it's now dead brother. Squeezing her eyes shut, she said through bared teeth, "I'm going to dig his hole so you guys don't have to. Let me get the frostbitten paws. I don't give a flying rat's rump, but you two are too young and soft for it." With that, she removed her nose from the younger girl before twisting away to find a proper digging site.
---------
The leader, who;s shoulders were previously haunched, sat up straighter at his companion's words. "You're right." He was completely right. They were TempestClan. They had braved storms much worse than losing a medicine cat. "StarClan, I shouldn't talk as though the patrol is already dead. What kind of leader am I?" To that, he gave a dry chuckle. There were things they needed to get done. He was looking forward to the grimaces of those he picked for patrols. No one wanted to go out in the chill.

Strangely, Whitedeer's choking sobs began to fade away. She felt hollow, instead of broken, like she previously wanted before when emerging from Dawnflame's den. It was strangely comforting to feel nothing. She had forgotten about the light-hearted yellow soul's ability to calm. Part of Whitedeer's internal blackness was fighting it back, however, and she could feel the emotions right below the surface. They threatened to rise again. Probably as soon as Aquashine and she parted ways. She blinked dewey-eyed at the two. She wanted to thank them, but she couldn't bring herself to feel even gratitude.

Hi~
Well, the patrol from the Moonwillow just found Fennelfur dead so they'll be coming back soon. And everyone in camp is just waking up and a patrol will probably be organized soon. Its very bitterly cold winter though.

--Moonkit woke with a delicate yawn and stretch, her small needle-like claws pressing into one of her adopted family members. She pulled her paws back quickly and opened her eyes to be sure she hadn't hurt or woken anyone. After a few seconds of relative inactivity, she sat up, the cold immediately becoming more pronounced. She longed to hunker back down with her family, but felt it may be too parisitic. She'd already taken a spot in their lives she could never make up for, why should she also take their warmth? Moonkit moved closer to the entrance of the den, just close enough to peek out at the beginning activity.
--Silvernight had woken early - or, rather, earlier. Her long coat provided extra protection from the harsh weather, and she found it her responsibility to care for the Clan more than the others given her advantage. She was barely away from the Clan's dens, having left just before many of the others had awoken, but she was determined to find prey for the empty fresh-kill pile she'd already taken stock of. They had kits, elders, the sick and wounded, and many more cats besides that to feed. Purpose weighing down her paws but also keeping them moving, she forged ahead, vaguely hoping others would come out to hunt as well despite the devastating conditions.
--Firewhisker kicked out his leg in a dream, vaguely feeling it make contact with someone in the waking world. Worried about consequences, he was immediately semi-lucid, his body still frozen but his eyes straining to see who he had accidentally assaulted in his unconscious state. His paws twitched first and then his tail as his paralysis slowly seeped away, and he was quickly able to stand and face his unwilling victim, whether or not they may have awoken.
((A few minutes was a gross underestimation, mobile is the hardest thing I've had to combat for a while..))

... ↪ The trek across camp on the icy snow didn't do much to help Skullpaw's mangled paw be anymore comfortable, and his mostly three-legged hobbling caused him to slip and fall right at the entrance of the Nursery he was headed over to. He nearly crashed right into Moonkit, but thankfully it was only his head that fell right next to her. His orange gaze met hers and he exhaled a grunt of pain in her face. "I'm sorry," Skullpaw apologized and scrambled to his feet. Maybe he should have stayed in the Medicine Cat's den a while longer, but he needed to check on his mother and siblings. Before him was one that was adopted, simply because she was conviniently closest to age of his brothers and sister when she was found, but Skullpaw was just as fond of her as he was the rest of the lot.
"Hey now, you'll catch a cold so close to the entrance," he meowed carefully and ushered her to hopefully go back inside if she chose to follow his gesture. Skullpaw however was definitely going in, and he called his mother's name quietly as he did.

((Mobile site is death rip me))
--Moonkit started as Skullpaw landed in front of her, her tiny hairs raising and eyes widening in surprise. She did her best to hold in her exclamations of surprise, managing to only let a small squeak out, which was drowned out by his own release. "Are you okay?" she questioned breathily, worrying frantically that she had been the cause of his spill. She backed into the den at his beckoning, nearly tripping over her adopted family members in her haste to clear a path.

(It's ok Sandy take your time. I'll write the Icewing post now.)
A sickening pounding in the queen's head awoke her before the stirring of her kits. It immediately went ignored, however, for it instinctively went to her belly where the kits were. Icewing's worst nightmare was to wake up one morning to have one of her kits mysteriously dead; be it by freezing to death or simply ceasing breathing. She counted them and named them again in her head before reality finally came back to her. That was when she noticed Skullpaw's presence and his soft voice. She smiled at her firstborn and mewed a whispered hello. Then her calm demeanor melted into motherly sternness. "Kits! Stop arguing." Her cold-colored eyes turned to the equally chilly outside. It appeared to stop snowing, and the sun was up enough for most of the clan to be awake. "In fact, go play outside."
------------------------
Possumkit stirred only after his mother did. He was obviously very tired from his idiotic trek and encounter with the wolf. There was a strange warmness inside of him that also lulled him to sleep and remained through the morning. It was troublesome to him now. His stare was blank and still full of sleep when he glanced at his siblings. Normally he would take up for Moonkit, but he was still in zombie-mode.

Mousekit was still half-asleep as she was nudged out of the nest, blinking at her family drowsily. The cold seeped into her fur and she shivered a little but caught sight of the white stuff, snow she had been told, on the ground. "Guys, look! There is snow everywhere!" she squealed and dashed out of the nursery to hop in the fluffy piles of snow and ice, calling for her siblings to join her.
