⇹ "Well, apparently, your sister didn't try to tell you the orders her mentor gave her specifically earlier today." The tabby told the young she-cat in front of him before glaring over at Sagepaw. "So did you even think about helping Woodenpelt before you went out for a fishing expedition?" It was so clear that Oakfoot was upset with Sagepaw's disobedience. Does she honestly every listen to my orders? She'd ought to be ashamed. He himself had already planned on teaching the young apprentice to hunt in the marshes later on today. But maybe not since she seemingly didn't know how to listen.

Blossomstep lowered her head, knowing she had said all she could. She felt embarassed for having not asked her sister prior to taking her out of camp if she had already been busy. Her tail lowered to the ground, resting just above the dirt where it gently swished as she listened to the tense conversation.
--
Sagepaw's jaw gaped, uncertain of how to respond. She looked down to the forest floor, not daring to look at either of the warriors. Her gaze remained on a tuft of grass as she uttered a response. "I'm sorry, Oakfoot, I guess it slipped my mind..." she paused and exhaled, "is there anyway I could make up for it?"

⇹ Oakfoot sighed and let the fur along his neck and shoulders lie flat and letting his amber gaze soften. "I suppose you two can continue your hunt, but as soon as you get back to camp-" He looked over at Sagepaw, "I want you to get to work on Woodenpelt. Maybe he can tell you a story so it isn't that bad." Then his amber gaze flickered over to Blossompaw. He had little right to be angry with her. She probably just thought that training her sister would help her prepare for her own apprentice one day. Heck, he himself wasn't even that experienced. Nightstar probably wouldn't have even chosen him to mentor Sagepaw if he hadn't matured. Just moons ago he was a troublesome warrior, always causing trouble. "So what have you learned so far?"

Sagepaw felt relieved, as his anger seemed to be fading. She slowly raised her head, daring to look up at her mentor. Then she froze again and began to stutter. "What have I learned?" She paused and shot a nervous glance towards her sister. "Um, well, I've not..." The young apprentice trailed off. I've not exactly been paying attention, she thought to herself, shuffling her paws.
---
Blossomstep remained where she stood, though her gaze lifted to Oakfoot. She briefly glanced at her sister, holding in the sigh she felt inside of her. Her gaze then returned to Oakfoot as she interuppted Sagepaw's stutters. "She's been struggling with the technique and hasn't yet learned much. Perhaps you could join us and teach her?" The she-cat looked to him almost pleadingly. "I'm not quite sure how to train.." She added.

⇹ The young warrior slowly nodded his head in understanding. "You'll get it. When you get your first apprentice the instinct will kick in. Like, like a new determination to turn the once young kit into something the Clan will be proud of." His gaze flickered over to Sagepaw as he spoke, before looking over at the tortoiseshell she-cat beside him. "Now, first, Sagepaw, get rid of all your side thoughts and pay attention, learning to hunt in the marshes is important to your training. Maybe sometimes you don't want to get your paws muddy, but the Clan must be fed. Wow what can you scent?" The tabby instructed and sat, curling his tail over his paws. He could scent a lizard nearby, as well as a frog, and a hard was somewhere behind them in the grassy area.

⇹ Palestream || Marshes || Morning || Bearpaw Palestream hesitated on Bearpaw's question, hot trying to worry him. "It was fox dirt." She answered silently as they trekked through the forest, the ground growing muddier by the second. "But you shouldn't worry about that now, we're here. So you can began your hunt." Palestream sniffed the air, kneading her paws into the marshy ground nervously. She didn't want to leave him alone now that she knew there was a fox nearby. "Let's stay together. See if you can scent any prey right here. I can smell a lizard just around here somewhere."
⇹Oakfoot|| Frog Spring Pond|| Oakfoot satrouched in the long grasses that grew in the marshy area around the pond, his amber gaze locked on a mouse that scurried in the grass hefore him. His tabby pelt blending in just perfectly with his surroundings. Just a little longer... the tom bunched his muscles preparing to leap. Easy... Easy... The warrior launched himself at his target, landing squarely on its back. The mouse immediately fell still, too small to bear his weight. Burying his catch in a patch of grass, the tabby sniffed the air for more prey. He caught the scent of... Sagepaw! That pesky apprentice, she was supposed to be back in camp helping Woodepelt. "Just wait till I get my paws on her." Bearpaw bristled, nervous at the thought of having to fight a fox, but nodded, trying to scent the lizard. His nose twitched at the scent of the scaled creature, the dark brown tom slipped into a hunters crouch, ears twitching slightly, eyes narrowed as he watched a tiny lizard peak out of the roots. Bearpaw scooted forward, silent on the forest floor, before leaping forwards, killing the lizard with a swift blow.

⇹ "Brilliant catch!" Palestream purred, trotting over to her apprentice and laying her tail across his shoulders. Most young cats had trouble with catching lizards, but then again, it wasn't Bearpaw's first time. "Keep up with that and you'll be a warrior in no time." The gray and white she-cat took a step or two away from the young brown tom and eyed the lizard carefully. It was fairly plump. She thought that she might eat it later on if there weren't anymore on the fresh-kill pile. Lizards and frogs were her favorite prey.

Blossomstep smiled at the warrior, thankful for his advice. She decided to set down as well, a bit further from where Oakfoot was to ensure she wasn't too close for comfort. Her ears pricked up, listening as she turned to watch her sister.
---
Sagepaw nodded, a glimmer of thankfullness in her eyes. She nodded a bit too roughly, trying to show her understanding. C'mon, Sagepaw, focus. You can do this. The she-cat gave her tail a slight flick, slowly turning to face away from her mentor. She parted her jaws, drawing in the vast amount of smells that existed around her. Her eyes closed. Focus. She could taste the rushing water, the fresh grass, scents wafting the swampy marshes and forest around her. Her head tilted to the side, trying to find something. There! Sagepaw's eyes jolted opened and she turned back to her mentor.
"Lizard." She hissed softly.

⇹ Oakfoot nodded his head in approval of her choice in prey. She's always chosen a challenge. "Alright. Go for it. Let's see how you do, and if you do anything wrong I'll show you your mistakes for next time." Oakfoot liked to test Sagepaw before actually teaching her how to do things. On their first day of training, he had told her to track down a mouse, she had missed. Then he had told her the technique for nice. On their first day of battle practice he had asked her what she thought would be the heat way to attack an intruding cat, she'd almost had it, but he was their to advise her, as always. He turned to Blossomstep and beckoned her with his tail for her to follow him after the young apprentice.
(Tehe, is it wrong that I ship Blossom and Oak?)

Sagepaw nodded to her mentor before turning to face the direction of the scent. She was used to his methods of teaching by now, but hoped she could make up for her failures of the day. The she-cat began to creep forward on her paws, not yet crouching down. She followed the trail of the lizard, leading her nearer to the swampy marsh. As the scent grew stronger, the apprentice paused and crouched down, allowing her belly to gently rub against the ground. Her paws carried her gently along the marshy floor towards the lizard, which soon came into view. It sat just beside a large opening into the water, not quite hidden in the long strands of grass. As Sagepaw crept closer, her movements slowed to ensure her gentle movements. She stalked towards the unaware lizard, making sure to avoid the puddles of swamp water along the way. Her tail was lifted a bit to high in the hair, drawing attention towards her bushy self. Luckily, the lizard didn't seem to notice. The she-cat paused once she deemed herself close enough. Her haunches wiggled a bit before she pounced, flying towards the spot where the lizard was sitting. She let out a hiss as she flew, unsheathing her claws. Her shadow alerted the prey and it took off into the marshes. When Sagepaw landed, she quickly steadied herself and took off after the lizard, splashing swamp water as she went.
---
Blossomstep nodded, rising to her paws. She carefully crept forward, glancing towards the tom. The she-cat remained a few mouse-lengths behind him, turning her attention back towards her sister.
{ Oh my goodness I was doing the same thing cx }

⇹ Oakfoot watched thoughtfully as Sagepaw crept towards the lizard. Her crouch and her patience was excellent. She'd be doing great if they were in the forest, but they weren't. She wasn't used to hunting in the marshes yet, it was completely foreign to her. Hopefully in the next few suncircles she would be a master to it. "Sagepaw come back!" The tabby yowled as the she-cat gave chase to the lizard. He the turned to Blossomstep, pride gleaming in his amber eyes. "Your sister is an outstanding forest hunter you know. You should come with us one day on one of our hunts. I swear I've never seen such a natural born hunter." Sagepaw was clearly born to be under the trees. He himself hadn't even been able to catch a squirrel on his first try.

Sagepaw's ears pricked up at the sound of Oakfoot's voice and she nearly turned to look to him as she tried to slow down. Her paws skidded along the mud and she tumbled onto her belly. The apprentice sighed, glancing back at the two warriors. I don't even want to think about what they're probably thinking of me, she sighed as she turned back to the mud. It took a few moments with her eyes closed, mentally beating herself up for her mistake before she pushed herself up from the mud. Her thick black coat was now heavy and dripping with the substance. She shook her head, trying to shake it from her head.
---
Blossomstep casually slid her gaze from her fallen sister to the tom. Her gaze softened upon seeing his reflection. I hope one day I can take pride like that for my future apprentice. The she-cat dipped her head, a smile forming on her face.
"I guess I'll have to," Blossomstep responded. She had not yet seen her sister be successful in anything, and would truly love to watch her perform where she was skilled. The she-cat flicked her tail gently, her gaze remaining on Oakfoot.

⇹ For a moment, Oakfoot's amber gaze locked with Blossomstep's dark green. As Sagepaw began to approach the tom cleared his throat and forced himself to look at the dark apprentice. "Sagepaw, that was excellent! But when your hunting in the marshes, there isn't going to always be bushes and shadows to hide your approach to your prey. You see-" He padded over to Sagepaw, crouching down and beckoning for her to copy him. "When your hunting here in the marshes, you have to be fast with your prey. Lizards and frogs aren't like forest prey, they have a wider set of eyes and stronger senses. They can feel your footsteps through the vibration in the ground, almost like a mouse, but stronger. You could be fox-lengths away and they'll already have ran into hiding. The trick is, you've got to be quick." Turning his gaze to a stick a few fox-lengths ahead of them and took a few quick strides of his long legs before launching himself at it, snapping it in a heartbeat.

{ Yes! I'm loving it cx }
Sagepaw looked up at her mentor, her mood lightening as he taught her. He's only here to help, she thought to herself as she copied his crouch. She stayed low, nodding her head to his words. Speed. As he demonstrated, she sat up to watch. Her eyes flashed in awe. I hope I'm able to do that one day.
"Do you think we could come try again soon?" She pleaded from where she stood.
---
Blossomstep had held his locked gazed, but turned her head first to look at her sister. She stood with her tail flicking gently, looking at Sagepaw with a soft expression. The she-cat remained where she was at Oakfoot began to teach his apprentice. She felt her eyes focusing more on Oakfoot, watching his fast and powerful movements, his gentle teaching. Her mind continued to reflect on this teaching, knowing it would help her one future day.

⇹ The warrior shook out his thick tabby pelt as he padded back towards the pair, looking at Sagepaw as she hugged him. Oakfoot looked up at the sky. It was getting pretty late, if they waited any longer his father would most likely be asleep knowing the elderly cat. "Alright, I guess you can give one Kore try before we go. Go on, what can you scent?" He tried his best not to look over at Blossomstep though he could feel that she was watching him.

Sagepaw bounded along beside her mentor, a smile in her eyes at his response. She had already forgotten about her agreement to assist Woodenpelt, though she glanced up at the sky and observed the lateness of the day. This she shrugged off, however, as it didn't mean much to her. The apprentice lowered her gaze to the marshes once more, tasting the air for prey. This time, she picked up on a nearby frog much quicker. The she-cat began to stalk forward, swooping her tail closer to the ground. Her eyes scanned the scenery until they located the large frog resting in the bank of a shallow pool of water. Sagepaw crouched down momentarily to creep a bit closer. Speed. She slowly lifted herself before launching forward, sprinting closer to the frog before springing forward, catching the frog by surprise. Her paws enclosed the slimy creature, nearly frightening her touch. No, I need to prove myself, she focused, tighting her grip as she shot her head down to finish with a killing bite. A sense of relief spread throughout her as she felt its body go limp between her paws.
---
Blossomstep dropped her gaze quickly to her paws as his eyes avoided her. Her ear twitched as he spoke. As soon as she heard the rustle of Sagepaw's movements, the she-cat lifted her head to watch her sister, hoping for success.

⇹ "Great catch." He praised as Sagepaw caught the frog. It was nice and plump, a nice piece of prey for Woodenpelt. "Take that straight to Woodenpelt when we get to camp. I'm sure he'll tell you a story in return. Ask him about me. Thats always my pesonal favorite." He joked mildly and picked up his mouse, preparing to leave. The story of how his father and mother met had always been his favorite, it had inspired him on finding a loyal mate of his own one day. But that day apparently hadn't come yet for he hadn't found the perfect she-cat just yet. He glanced over at Sagepaw then to Blossomstep. "All ready to go?"
