» You feel like you have been walking for moons, when in reality you have only been walking for a few short days. Although walking long distances is not foreign to you, your paws still ache none the less. Looking to the skies above, you see a storm looming ominously. Despite the strong scent of other cats, you decide that it is best to stop and take refuge under the roots of a partially uprooted spruce tree. You were only going to stay until the storm stopped, then you would move on going to the next city you encountered.
You feel your eyes closing, the prospect of sleeping becoming a reality. Your journey had rendered you weary, and now looked like as good of time to any to catch a wink of sleep.
You open your eyes slightly, seeing the light sun rays of dawn creeping up over the horizon. The second thing you notice is the sound of hushed voices.
"Do you smell that?" You see an older cat look at a small, younger cat.
The younger cat took a few sniffs before saying: "An out of clan cat. They smell different than the usual ones that come around, though. This one is unfamiliar."
You had been too busy focusing on the two cats to notice a young dark brown tabby approach where you were crouching. "Over here," the young male, said, excitement leaking into his voice.
"Show yourself," the older cat commands, as the three of them surrounded the trunk where you lay. They obviously weren't giving you a choice in this matter, so you decide your best course of action was to get up. Maybe the best course of action would be to sweet talk your way out of it.
"I did not know that other cats lived here," you lie. It had been obvious that other cats were here. Their scent had been thick on many trees on your way over. "I will leave as soon as possible. I did not mean to intrude on your land."
The older cat studies you for a moment before saying: "You look like you are starving. Your ribs are showing. At least come back to our camp and enjoy a piece of prey before you continue back on your journey."
Your initial thoughts had been to refuse the offer, but the rumbling in your stomach reminds you that this may be the only time for a while that you can get an easy meal. With a slight hesitation you agree, longing for something to satisfy the rumbling of your stomach.

» Deerclan lives in a deciduous forest, meaning there are many oak, elm, birch, maple, and other leafy trees in their territory. There are also many shrubs and bushes, containing blackberries, huckleberries, and raspberries. The smallest plants in the territory are herbs and mosses, which are good for medicinal purposes and bedding respectively. They also have some special landmarks including:
Leader's Den - The Leader's Den can be found under a large maple tree in the northern edge of camp. The leader's den is a burrow under the roots of the large tree. This is a secluded area where the leader will sleep.
Warriors' Den - The Warriors' Den is a large burrow that is also in the northern edge of camp. The warriors' den is burrowed under the roots of a large oak tree. This is where warriors and the deputy sleep.
Apprentices' Den - The Apprentices' Den is a burrow located in the side of a small mound in the southern edge of the camp. This is where the apprentices, apart from the medicine cat's apprentice, sleep for the duration of their apprenticeship.
Medicine Cat's Den - The Medicine Cat's den is a burrow under a rocky outcrop in the center of the camp. The medicine cat and their apprentice sleep in this den. Their herbs are also stored here.
Nursery - located by the Warrior's Den, this is where Queen's and their kits stay. Kits stay here until they are six moons old and declared an apprentice and given their apprentice name. It is a deep burrow under several thicket bushes.
Elders' Den - it is a burrow located in the southern edge of camp, by the apprentices' den. This is where clan members that have served their clan for many moons will sleep, and spend the majority of their days.
The Great Alder Tree - This is said to be where the roots to Deerclan were laid. The earliest members of the clan gathered here and agreed to make a clan. They believed that one group of cats banded together in solidarity stood a much better chance of surviving, and possibly even thriving together. This is the second most sacred place for the clan.
Orion Pool - This is the most sacred place that the clan knows. This is where medicine cats and their apprentices will visit to get visions and prophecies from clan members that have joined the ranks of starclan. This is also where leaders will go to get their nine lives. Sometimes if a cat is very sick, especially if they are young, the medicine cats may make the decision to take them to the Orion Pool to ask for Starclan's assistance in healing their clanmate.
Shining Stones - these are just a little way out of camp. They are a place that many Deerclan cats go to relax and share tongues after a hard day's work. At sunhigh, when the sun is at the perfect angle, the rocks shine as if they are stars, hence why they have been given the name 'Shining Stones'.

» Deerclan has a few traditions particular just to them. Listed below will be all traditions that Deerclan cats participate in:
I. after an apprentice receives their warrior name, they must sit vigil by the Great Alder Tree from moonrise to sunrise to reflect on their apprenticeship and to realize the responsibilities they gained becoming a warrior.
II. After a deputy is named, they must sit vigil by the Great Alder Tree from moonrise to sunrise to reflect on the position that they have earned.
III. On the longest day of the year (the summer solstice) many cats will sleep by the Great Alder Tree, as this is when the cats feel closest to their ancestors in starclan.
IV. On the shortest day of the year (the winter solstice) many cats will choose to make offerings (prey, herbs, etc) to the Great Alder Tree, as this is when the cats feel the furthest away from their ancestors in starclan. They believe this is when the dark forest is at their strongest.
v. A newly made medicine cat apprentice must visit the Orion pool as soon as possible after their ceremony so they can feel the presence of their ancestors early on in their apprenticeship.
VI. Medicine cats travel to the Orion pool once a moon when the moon is full, unless dangerous weather conditions, or another emergency keeps them from being able to do so.
I. Defend your Clan, even with your life.
II. Elders, queens, and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders. If any warrior or apprentice is sick or injured, they may eat while the elders, queens, and kits are eating.
III. Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.
IV. A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.
V. Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.
VI. A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.
VII. The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies, retires or is exiled.
VIII. After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.
IX. Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.
X. No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is a rouge or loner.
XI. The word of the Clan leader is the warrior code.

» Stated below are a few 'out of character rules' I would like people to follow.
I. The first, and most important rule, is to be kind. Please try to be as inclusive as you can to other members.
II. Be somewhat active, or just mention that you won't be around for a bit. Checking in at least once a week would be nice, but I will not mark you as inactive or anything until you have not posted anything for two weeks.
III. Just try your best with literacy. Give someone enough to reply to and give them something open ended enough to reply to.
IV. No godmodding or mary sues/stus please!
V. No spamming.
