Rainpaw looked up, her focus suddenly disappearing. "Yeah, it's a bit stale over here. How strong is the scent over there?" She asked, knowing that in the undergrowth, scents were strange and usually confused predators. "Do you think we could actually down one?"

With the prospect of becoming a warrior, the apprentice grew even more excited to make a kill. "I hope so! We've been apprentices for what seems like forever." She mewed, padding over to Rosepaw. "We can prove ourselves by bringing home two. Let's try to make the kills as swift and clean as possible."

Rainpaw slowed her pawsteps until they were silent. She flanked the antelope, almost instantly understanding which target they were going for. She crept on the fluffiest part of her paws, hoping the antelope's acute hearing didn't hear her. Just stay downwind... I'll be fine.. She'll be fine.. We'll be fine with some freshkill.

Rainpaw's energy exploded out of her as she landed on top of the antelope, quickly biting down on it's neck. She looked up once the kill had been finished off, and she smiled. She started to chase down another one, hoping that Rosepaw was following to help her down this one.

"You okay?" Rainpaw puffed, her sides heaving. "It's really hot out... Let's go back to the stream to cool down or something." She murmured, padding back to the other kill. "You can also wash the wound there."

"Lean on me if you need to." Rainpaw mewed, taking a slight lead in going to the stream. She was beginning to think it was more than a wrench in the paw though, as she had just witnessed Rosepaw whine in pain. "You sure you are okay?"

"Okay. Just-" she mewed, cutting herself off as she waded into the stream and laying down. She lapped up some water as she cooled down. "It's a hot day and this stream is cool." she mewed in her defense.

"Dark pelt has nothing to do with it... Okay maybe a little. But I don't like to excuse myself just to cool off while hunting or having a hurt friend." She mewed, flicking water off of her ears. "And you are right." The young leopardess mewed as she dunked her head under water. Once surfaced, she gasped for air and smiled brightly. "I found a fish! It's big and scaly. Long nose. It's cool."

(Kay!)
"No, it kind of looks threatening..... Yep it's a croc swimming upstream let's get outta here." She said, leaping out of the water and grabbing her antelope. Her paws hit the ground as she pounced around playing with the freshkill. "Sorry, let's get moving." She mewed, ears twitching slightly with excitement.

(Sorry, life happened.)
Rainpaw glanced sideways at Rosepaw. "Nothing." She mewed, her voice muffled by the prey she dragged in her mouth. "Look what we caught!" The apprentice dropped her kill in front of Ashcreek. "It's enough to feed all of the Clan!" She chirped excitedly, nodding her head in a haste to the warrior.

(I was putting decals on model trucks while my dad was talking my ear off.)
Rainpaw could hardly contain herself. She managed to sputter out a few words,"No, we haven't," before having to be quiet to keep her excitement inside her. Her tail gave away her emotions though, twitching to and fro. The apprentice managed to calm herself enough to say, "I think we should check on Rosepaw though. She hurt herself while hunting."

((Oh hah. Well still, either way. You are young friend, I must mother. If you don't mind, that is.))
Rosepaw nearly leaped into the air from excitement, though her paw kept her from bouncing around. "I think I uh, wrenched my paw while taking down one of the antelope." She mumbled, her ears folding to the side sheepishly.
Ashcreek growled, cuffing the large apprentice over the head before leading her to his den to patch up her paw. Before long, he returned with the embarrassed apprentice. "You can leave tomorrow at dawn. Until then, Rainpaw, I want you to make sure that Rosepaw doesn't stress her injury." He growled. "She did wrench her paw pretty badly, but she should be fine by tomorrow."

(I don't mind! I love having friends that care. XD)
Rainpaw looked at her friend sympathetically. "Okay, Ashcreek." She replied to the medicine cat before padding over to her friend with an excited look. "Not to make us bounce up and down excitedly with joy, yes I know that didn't make sense, but we get to go to Vanishing Cave tomorrow!!!" she whisper yelled. "It's gonna be so much fun!"

(I mother my stuffed animals. I can feel some pain. I think it's a girl thing.) (and you consider me a friend? I'm officially touched.)
Rainpaw's excitement died. "I forgot about that... I hope we don't run into a patrol. We really don't need the trouble..." she mewed thoughtfully, gaining excitement back. "Let's go and sleep off our energy or something... We also need to fix camp walls and feed the elders and queens and kits..."

(*Containing excitement* *ish*)
Rainaw looked around for a moment, thinking about what Dawnstar had said. It might mean we could be made warriors. Sometimes they aren't made a warrior until moons after.. I will keep these thoughts to myself. No reason to make her upset.
