Dawnstar quickly finished up the fish, not able to bare letting any of it go to waste. She tucked her wings in and stood up. "No. I don't think so," she said while looking around. Fishing was going to be a one sided task and also was herb gathering, and they both would needed extra paws to carry. It was better to return with the herbs now. "Anyway, I would hate to let any of your precious time go to waste." She said with a small chuckle. She walked through the river back to her herbs. Slowly and clumsily, she gathered the herbs. The ivy hung from her mouth as she held most of the bundle in her jaws. This herb thing was harder than it looked. She nodded silently to Snowfall before releasing her wings and taking to the sky. Her blue eyes lit up as she felt the wind again.
Nightchaser nodded. He couldn't have said it better himself. Without both of them here, it was just odd. The warrior relaxed and let himself lay on his side. He looked up through the cracks to see it was a bit past sunhigh. His tail twitched. He was reminded of the twoleg thing that was suppose to be sitting out in the field. It needed daylight to be found, but, he looked at Hailfrost out of the corner of his eye, this was more important. She was more important. "It has," He agreed, feeling the need to say something. He searched his mind until he remembered something. "How about the kits? Are you hoping to apprentice one? I know Dawnstar will probably choose herself and maybe Ravenwing, but you got a good shot. It's not like Cloudface could mentor them and I'm out of the picture as well. Unless Snowfall wants to mentor one of them then the chances might..." He trailed off, suddenly realizing how much he had spoken.

"I've got all the time in the world." She laughed, then picking up her herbs and stretching her wings. The wind hit her hard, but she raised herself into the air and begun to fly after her sister, slowly gaining altitude until she was levelled with Dawnstar. She was a few tail lengths away and made sure to keep close but not too far, not wanting to cause an accident on her part. Faintly, she could see the outline of the castle, and she grinned at Dawnstar before speeding ahead of her and diving straight for the ground. Just a few feet before she hit the ground, she spread her wings, catching herself with the gust and then landing softly, bringing them against her back. She chuckled then, waiting for Dawnstar to land beside her.
Hailfrost only smiled and laughed quietly as he trailed off, laying a little more on her side, facing him. "I don't know. It'd be great to take on an apprentice but I don't know if I'' ready for one yet, you know? It's only been a few moons and I'd feel irresponsible with mentoring. Besides, I don't think Snowfall is up for mentoring yet either. Unless a kit shows interest, I guess she'd consider it. But what are the chances they'd sacrifice warriorship for medicine?" She mewed, tilting her head. "I wouldn't survivve doing that job. Too much work." She moved a little closer to Nightchaser, leaning a little against the tom, yawning. "How about you? Think you're ready to take on an apprentice?"

Dawnstar smiled as she watched her sister land. The moment the medicine cat's paws touched the ground, Dawnstar dipped her wings. She descended quickly. The wind roared as she passed. The leader had to resist opening her mouth to yowl in joy. Don't loose the herbs. Snowfall will have your pelt, she reminded herself. She snapped open her wings and landed. It was a little rough, but she managed to stay upright. She nodded to her sister before making her way towards the medicine cat den.
Nightchaser nodded. He understood. After all, he was the one hiding in an old twoleg nest, not going off on patrols. This wasn't exactly mentor-like behavior. His attention was grabbed when her fur brushed against his. He looked down at her and held back a purr. After meeting her frosty eyes, he quickly looked away. "Umm, not quite yet. I think I should wait a bit. I just need to get use to being a warrior." He said with a nod.

She nodded in what seemed like approval as Dawnstar landed, laughing more to herself at the shaky descent. She followed her into the medicine cat's den, and once inside, she set her bundle by the pile of herbs laying more to the back, waiting to be organized. She motioned for Dawnstar to set them down there as well. "So, what other clanly duties must the great Dawnstar tend to now?"
"Yeah." Hailfrost laughed quietly and kept her frosty gaze away from him, distracted by something before looking back down at her paws. "I thought that would be something you'd say. I don't know. You don't seem like you'd do well training an apprentice so soon!" She let out a purr, then shook her head and smiled. "I mean, don't get me wrong. You'd be awesome! It's just I can't see you doing that. You're so silly."

Oh, Dawnstar could list dozens upon dozens of tasks she could be doing. Collecting moss, checking up on clanmates, making patrols, hunting, and the list went on. The leader set down the herbs while thinking of an answer. There was no use lying. Snowfall would see through that. Dawnstar had always been terrible at lying, though better at smiling and making things sound better. "Lots, but none are too urgent. Do you have anything you need dear sister?" She asked with a smile.
"Silly?" He couldn't help but to repeat her words. That was a new one. That was not one of the things he was normally called. Serious? Yes. A little lost? Also a yes. Quiet? Dozens of times. But never had he really been called silly. Not that it was a bad thing. It was just new.
(Sorry for the short ones)

"You should get to those, then." She meowed, motioning for her to go on and tend to her duties. "I'll be fine on my own. I'll probably spend the rest of the day organizing these herbs and making sure none have spoiled." She meowed quietly, offering her sister a friendly smile before she began to unwrap her bundles. Quietly, she began to organize them, and while doing so, she picked out the spoiled ones to throw out.
"Yes, silly." She mewed, tilting her head and offering a small purr. Her wings pressed to her back, warming herself a little before sighing. "You think leafbare will be easy this time around?" SHe questioned quietly. She knew it was always a hard time for all the cats, but she was curious of what he thought.

Dawnstar sighed, but couldn't agree more. She really shouldn't be putting them off. "Okay." She said before giving a small tail wave a leaving.
Nightchaser looked to the sky, as if that would give him an answer. He had noticed it was getting steadily cooler earlier than normal. It was not a good sign. His tail twitched. He focused his bi-colored gaze back on the she-cat. "I don't think so." He said, before asking, "Don't you think it has gotten colder now?" The tom hoped he was just being paranoid. An uneasy feeling settled in his gut when he thought about the snowstorms that came down from the Spine. The cold would infect the castle and even the deepest rooms wouldn't be warm. Hopefully, the kits will be strong by then.

Hailfrost took a moment to think. Would the kits be strong by then? Hopefully. They weren't too old, but she was afraid that they wouldn't make it through the leafbare. Especially with the huge amount of coldness and snow that hit them during the season. "It has gotten colder, I've been able to feel it more recently." She meowed, looking at her paws. I hope the kits will be okay. I mean, Snowfall does a good job of healing those who are ill... And our clanmates are strong, too. Without a doubt, the kits should be more than alright." She looked at him, sighing at his worry. "Don't worry so much about that."

"But why not?" Nightchaser said, almost in a whisper. He forced himself to speak. Hailfrost couldn't judge him if he spoke his mind. With this in mind, he spoke louder in his next words. "We have to worry about these things. Herbs can't fix everything and the snow will weaken the kits. The kits are the future. Our clan wouldn't grow without them. Plus, there are snowstorms more than enough cats have gotten lost or killed in those. I don't want to loose any more clanmates. I would rather worry more than less." he looked at her, hoping to catch her eyes. He wanted her to understand. He didn't like not worrying. Actually, he hated it. He felt too vulnerable. For him, it was like sitting in an open field and not looking around.

She met his gaze, tilting her head, "But it's not good to tink that way. Everything's gonna turn out just fine; snowstorms won't kill us. We're a strong clan! We've survived worse, probably, and this is no different. StarClan made these changes throughout the cycles for a reason! The kits are strong, they're SwiftClan cats, so they'll definitely survive, Nightchaser." She mewed, and although she spoke quickly and with a small hint of worry to her tone, she wasn't angry at his voicing of opinion. In fact, she liked it, being able to talk to him so freely. Lightly, the she-cat shifted closer and nuzzled his shoulder. "I understand where your concern is coming from, but I promise we'll do well."

Nightchaser let out a tiny sigh. He did feel better, even if the worry remained. He slowly relaxed in the nest. He was being to feel a bit foolish for bursting out like that. He should have remained calmer. With this fact heavy in his mind, he lay there quietly mulling over what happened over the day. He suddenly remembered the patrols. "Do you think they miss us?" he asked, sounding a bit concerned.

"Probably. But we did this before, even if they did have patrols out." She mewed, smiling a little at the tom. Her eyes shifted to her paws, her frosty gaze still for a few moments, relaxed. After a moment, the she-cat lay on her side, head on the nest, enjoying the comfortable silence.

Nightchaser nodded and relaxed. He laid his head down on the nest, letting out a tiny sigh. This wasn't half bad. He closed his eyes as he soaked up the sun.
(Eh. Short one for a short one. So can you think of any plot? I was thinking we could have a snowstorm and a patrol is diverted and gets lost. Maybe someone breaks their wing just to make it more difficult. )

Hailfrost could sense a distant change, probably in the weather, but again, it wasn't usual. Her ears flickered at the outside activity of their prey, and she wondered if they should hunt, but she decided against it, wanting to remain relaxed and in a calm environment beside Nightchaser. "I don't know what to do." The feline mewed, trying to hold up a conversation, her gaze not meeting him.
(maybe a snowstorm could cause them to disappear for a few days? and one of em could break their wing while trying to head back? idk lol)

Or they could need to get some sort of herb over the Spine? Like StarClan tells them a sickness will come so they have to get the herb before it starts. ) idk I just don't want this to die from lack of plot.)
His ears twitched when she spoke. He cracked one green eye open to look at her. The sun had made him dozy and he almost considered waiting for her to continue. But the silence was too long. He forced himself to lift his head and open his eyes. "What do you mean?" He asked quietly.

(understandable! would you like to skip, then? skip to camp then and snowfall can receive a message and they all have to travel there or something??? its your choice! also, how else could their relationship develop? only through simple interaction or?)
"I don't know. Just in general. I don't know what to do right now, like, I'd like to do someting." She said, offering a smile. Her ears flattened a little as she yawned, resting herself before curling up.

Sorry for the poof. ) Maybe skip to camp and have Snowfall receive a message in her sleep. ) I was thinking we could develop it by setting them on the journey together or we could have one go and one stay. They could realize how much they miss each other or something. If we go with the latter, one can get sick and be very weak so they have to have help building their strength. idk what do you think? )
"Maybe hunt? We could bring something back to camp." He suggested lightly before yawning. He stretched out, all his muscles became taunt, before he relaxed. This nest was warm. he was slowly regretting his idea. Hunting? That was mousebrain, he thought.

(its np! ill probs be poofyish haha thats fine! ill make that happen now then i guess uwu as for night and hail, i think being sick would be great! do you want hail to be sick or night to?)
"Sure thing!" She mewed. They had headed off to hunt, but it was soon nightfall, and she found herself heading back to camp. Her eyes were narrowed as she headed into the castle, gazing around and then back at her friend before settling in the corner in a small crevice, curling and letting sleep take her, hoping that Nightchaser would be near her in the morning.
Usually, the nights went pretty smoothly, but not this time. Snowfall found herself in a starry field in her dreams, surrounded by herbs. Except they weren't a variety, only one type: tansy. Snowfall felt like there was something up, and she was right, catching a glimpse of a starry cat approach her. The feline seemed startled at the StarClan cat's appearance, and they smiled before their expression relaxed. "Hello, Snowfall," the cat meowed, "There's something dark looming over your clan's near future. Maybe, if you hadn't figured it out... It has to do with your abilities. Now, I know that these... this herb isn't commonly found within your clan's territory, but instead within the Spine - your mountains. A long journey, which would test your clan's strength and determination." The cat paused before looking away, presumably at the herbs scattered around the rock the starry cat stood upon, which was odd, as they were scattered everywhere. "This shouldn't be taken lightly, Snowfall. This darkness... can end your clan for good. Please do take this into consideration." The cat then reached to press their nose to Snowfall's forehead. The she-cat then turned after her starry ancestor left, moving to examine one of the many herbs. It seemed familiar, almost like marigold but smaller. The plant had multiple small, yellow bulbs on the stem and feathery leaves, as well as having a sweet scent. Her previous mentor had mentioned the herb, but it was so rare to see that they only saw it once, and even then they didn't have a use for it. She was glad her mentor had taught her what it was. She couldn't recall its name. Once it was morning, Snowfall raised up to her paws and urgently padded out of her small den, ignoring the looks from her clanmates as she barged into Dawnstar's den.

haha. I hadn't exactly figured that one out. >.< I don't really care who. It is more of a question who would go on the trip. I don't really think Nightchaser would volunteer for it due to his cautious nature, but if chosen he wouldn't resist too much. ) I was thinking after this, the clan would travel into the Spine in the height of summer to retrieve the herb in case the sickness comes back and it is the test for apprentices. Like instead of having the assessment, they are sent into the spine with the medicine cat, or maybe an older medicine cat apprentice, and probaly a couple of warriors to find the herb. This could also be to reinforce the bond between the clan and med cat. )
Dawnstar woke with a start. Her sister's dash into her nest was enough to wake any cat. The heavy scent of fear hung in the air, just to increase the leader's worries. The tan she-cat was standing in a second. Her claws became unsheathed, wings arched, and her feathers fluffed up. "What is it?" She asked with concern. Her blue eyes searched her sister's for any sign of what was happening. She scented the air for the coppery scent of blood but there was none. Still, she did not sheath her claws, but she put her wings away.

(ahh well if anything maybe snowfall and hailfrost with dawnstar? that sounds good!i like that idea uwu)
"O-okay. Okay." Snowfall sat, relaxing herself before nodding. "StarClan contacted me. Darkness is looming over us and there's something in the Spine that can save us. I think it's a herb, but I haven't seen that kind in so long... Like the last time I saw the herb was with Featherface, and even then, we only saw it once near growing in the territory and we didn't even need it. It's rare here, I'd think. I don't know. The dream was in some mountainous area, the cat stood on the rock and it was surrounded by these yellow flowering plants... They had a sweet scent when I went to examine it, and they were definitely not marigold. They weren't flowery, but instead budded, the leaves were feathery..." She trailed off, panicked. "Dawnstar, I think we need to head out to find it. I don't want to risk anything."

Do you want to leave the medicine cat in the clan? )
"But..." The she-cat froze as she tried to gather her words. Her leadership had been quiet so far, which was a gift for the young leader. The last leader's reign had been peaceful and uneventful. The clan had not had a tragedy for a while and she wasn't about to let one happen. Her blue eyes flashed with determination. "You should stay here. Just in case the sickness starts early." She said. She knew it was selfish, but some part wanted to keep her sister safe. Yes, a place doomed for sickness wasn't exactly safe, but it was better than the cold wasteland the Spine turned into during leafbare.

(idk! your call if dawnstar oders it - im torn between the two)
"I don't want to stay." She meowed. "What if you get hurt on the way there? What if you get sick from the cold?" She questioned, tilting her head, a sad expression upon her face. "If you are going to make me stay, then you should at least let me teach you what some basic herbs do... And prepare you with some traveling herbs and a bundle of useful medicines." Snowfall sighed quietly. "Who would you take with you? It's a dangerous journey and only the strongest cats should be allowed to go. We can't suffer a loss."

I'm going to do it that way you have a character in the clan just in case.)
Dawnstar shook her head. "You have to stay here to fend off the sickness if we don't get here in time or..." She drifted off. It almost seemed too harsh to say. "You can try to teach the patrol about herbs we might find in the mountains. I'm thinking of taking Hailfrost and maybe Cloudface with me." Hailfrost was a strong flier and Cloudface could run. One of them would be able to get the herbs back quickly if something were to happen. The leader's tail twitched. Cloudface wouldn't be able to make it. "Not Cloudface. Maybe Ravenfur." Ravenfur had fluffier wings.

(okay!)
"I haven't seen Ravenfur in a while." She meowed, looking away. "Anyway... I think you should choose a variety for the patrol. That way if one way fails, the other can make it. That's my opinion, at least." Snowfall let out a soft sigh, turning her head away. "I'll teach you a little something, then. I feel like the other cats should worry more about keeping you safe and finding that herb, while you keep them in good shape. I'll supply you with strength herbs to last two or three days..." She trailed off, a bit panicked.
Hailfrost woke the next morning, her eyes fluttering open as she scanned the camp. There was a panicky atmosphere coming from some cats as they had seen Snowfall run urgently to Dawnstar.

Dawnstar grunted. What Snowfall said was right. Still one more cat should come. They then could split up into groups of two to search. Maybe Sharpsky could come. The leader began to pace and take deep breaths. She stopped and fixed her eyes on the medicine cat. "Okay. Okay." She took a sigh. "You go to the medicine cat den and prepare. I'm going to find the warriors and tell them about this." The leader ordered before padding out. She needed to do something now or she would panic.
Nightchaser continued to sleep. Yesterday had tired him out. The dark tom was in deep sleep.
