Cinderpaw settled into her natural crouch: paws evenly under her, ears back so they didn't get caught, tail stick straight and lifted slightly from the ground. Her fur slicked up slightly from her spine, a sign of agitation, but she smoothed it down by staying calm.

Cinderpaw nodded, her eyes narrowing. Keeping low to the ground, she stalked across the forest floor and through the trees. Her mouth slightly open, she caught a whiff of prey-scent. Her hopes high, she took a deep breath through her nose, disappointed as it was only a squirrel. Her mentor wanted a mouse, not a squirrel. She kept sneaking through the trees. A rustle in the bushes caught her attention, and she froze. The rustling continued. She took another breath, her tail-tip twitching once as the scent of fresh mouse filled her glands. She lowered herself into a deeper crouch, softly placing one paw in front of the other so as not to make vibrations in the ground. Suddenly, the mouse caught her scent and shot out of the bush towards her. She unsheathed her claws and pounced, killing it with a slice to the neck. It twitched, then fell still. She purred with satisfaction and cleaned her claws, waiting a moment before carrying it gently back to where her mentor was.

littlesong42Crowfrost watched her from a tree full of leaves. She was going to surprise Cinderpaw by sneak attacking her to see how would she react. The black deputy watched her with her icy blue eyes as she saw Cinderpaw trying to find her. The she-cat then got closer to the apprentice and hid until Cinderpaw was unaware of her gone and would go looking for you.

Cinderpaw looked around for Crowfrost, wondering where she went. Maybe to find some prey of her own to outdo me, Cinderpaw thought. She sat back down, leaning on her haunches and washing her ears, waiting for Crowfrost to come back.

littlesong42Crowfrost saw the time to strike. The she-cat pounced on her claws sheathed and pinned her down onto the ground. "Weakling!", sshe spat as she faced Cinderpaw wanting to see her reaction.

Cinderpaw yowled as she was barreled over and pinned to the ground. Noticing her attackers claws were sheathed, Cinderpaw kept hers in as well, battering her opponent's belly with hard back paws. She twisted in her grasp so her back was facing up and surged upward as fast and hard as she could.

Cinderpaw faced the cat with bristling fur, up on her toes, ears back. When she realized it was her mentor, Cinderpaw fell to her pads and smoothed her fur. "What in the name of StarClan was that for?" she snapped. "You scared the Dark Forest out of me!"

Cinderpaw glanced at the mouse. "Is it alright?" she asked. "I caught it in a bush; it came right at me. Easy prey," she said dismissively. "There was no real thrill to it. I didn't get to chase it or anything."

"Ok." Cinderpaw crouched down, eyes narrowing. She leaped towards Crowfrost, claws sheathed. She landed just before hitting Crowfrost's right shoulder and quickly swerved to the left to trip her front paws and make her fall.
