I didn’t really keep up with the fandom during book releases, but I remember there was a lot of hype for final book in OOTS because we all thought it was the end of the series. That didn’t stick. XD

Thinking in retrospect. Back when the series was at its peak popularity, and I was most passionate with it?. Easily Bluestar’s Prophecy. Hyped to high heaven. Vicky talked the world of it. And Kate Cary has more than once griped(jokingly) how difficult it was to write, and made peeves over constant changes Vicky instructed during production. Plus Bluestar is an incredibly badass character with plenty of room for exploration. Top 3 SE easily.
My 2nd personal release I was most excited for surprisingly was The Sun Trial, given how disoriented, and off-course the writing was with DoTC’d imo. Never made past Thunder Rising during its initial release period. And currently rank it at the bottom of probability of me ever bothering with a re-read. However, considering what tidbits we’d been fed through the Field Guides prior, and the hype gave expectations to some epic, grand mystical beginning to the clans being formed, I 100% drank the Kool-Aid with everyone else. Unfortunately it happened to taste like sour grapes.
