So I know there’s a ton of random stuff abt this in other places, but if feel like this could fit here. Basically, we can just chat about how to open/defeat certain shrines and stuff, or talk about TOTK + BOTW in general (Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild.)

Since I don’t play all that often, and I go to random shrines half the time, i just got to one where Kass tells you about a song he wrote and it’s something about a lost hero calling down lightning and then a monk will answer (as in the weird mini lightning volcano ass object will become a shrine) and it took me 15 minutes to realize I gotta get struck by lightning and I can’t just shoot a shock arrow- (in BOTW)

I only have BOTW and finishing all of the shrines is annoying. I finished everything but getting all of the poop and saving Zelda. I rather have her keep on waiting for me since there really is no point in saving her.

I got BOTW for Christmas alongside a Switch. I think I last played it in February. Part of it is because life suddenly got really hectic and sitting down for several hours to play through the game has just been low on my priority list when I have that much free time.
Which is odd, because I LOVE Zelda games, but BOTW feels almost... too big to me. It's kind of overwhelming and intimidating. With the non-linear storyline, I'm never sure what I should do next, and the amount of time you have to spend wandering around looking for things is kind of annoying. Last thing I did was accidentally stumble into the Master Sword grove and try to complete the Korok challenges, and after messing up the one where you have to follow the korok child unseen for the billionth time I rage quit and haven't picked it up since. Lol.

Did anyone else feel disappointed with TOTK? I love BOTW. It was my first Zelda game, and I’ve put 700 hours into it. I can barely bring myself to play TOTK. There’s a lot I like about it (Ultrahand is cool. I like the new enemies. I like the shrines better than BOTW. I like some of the side quests better.) But the story is so lackluster and detached to me that I can’t get into it. Nothing I do feels important like it did in BOTW.

Well, not exact, I haven't played TOTK yet, but how you describe feeling about it is how I feel about BOTW in comparison to past Zelda games. It just feels like there's no sense of urgency or clear storyline to get invested in. I guess the way I'd explain it is that usually with Zelda games, I can clearly tell the difference between the main storyline and an side quest. With BOTW I have a much harder time distinguishing between the two. There seems to be a lot of overlap. It's probably a side effect of the non-linear storytelling; it's difficult to tell if the thing I'm engaging in is kickstarting a different part of the main story or just a random sidequest.

I hate how much they expanded the world in TOTK and how everyone’s grown up is weird, but I like fuse very much

It felt like they were trying so hard to erase everything in order to make it “new.” It was disappointing to me.

After completing all the shrines in BOTW and playing way too many hours of it. I stopped playing TOTK after I beat it, I did non of the side-quests and very few of the shrines.
