I'm thinking about working on making a VR game, similar to a historical MMORPG.
So, you could choose an Era and timeperiod or location, such as Medieval, Ancient Greek, Ancient Roman, the Great Crusades, or Feudal Japan. then you could choose a faction within that selection.
You wouldn't have to be a solider, and you could be a merchant, or some other citizen, or maybe a mercenary or bandit!
Factions within the time period(s) would be something like:
Ancient Greece: Athenian, Persian, Spartan, etc.
Ancient Rome: Roman, Gaul, Spartan/Greek, Egyptian, etc.
Japan: The different clans/factions to fight for a Shogunate.
Medieval: The different Families fighting for the crown
Crusades: Catholic Crusaders (To include the Templars), Byzantine, Turks, Fatbids (Egypt), and a few others
(Time Eras wouldn't be able to be mixed, IE: Templars fighting Athenians)
After selecting your faction, you'd be lead to a Character creator, with restrictions to keep characters realistic (To a point. I'm not gonna stop someone from wanting to make a female Knight Templar), but skin tone and what not may be limited so there's not an extremely muscular and pale-white European looking avatar fighting for the Shogunate (Yes, I know this kinda happened, but that's not the point)
After character creation, your put in either a city, or training camp, based on your choice of "class". If you choose to be a soldier, you would learn to fight in accordance with that faction/era's training style. For example, as a Roman, you'd be taught commands in latin, as well as how to form Testudo's and Phalanxes.
Each faction would have players that could be elected or chosen to lead them, with a fully functional political system, as well as a full economics system. There could/would also be religious "boons" to factions dependent upon the god(s) worshipped. So, like for instance, if you were playing as an Athenian, and your priest/priestess sent a prayer to Athena for Tactical superiority, voice communication of the enemy fighters has a chance to be unstable.
If you die in battle, or for whatever reason, you would be a new character. All the stuff you had would be gone, but you could set up trust funds or wills to give part your stuff to another player on your death. When you are "reborn" you could choose a new path, or you could choose to restart the previous path. If you were a soldier before, and became a soldier again, you would be able to skip the training.
As for stats, for soldiers there would be strength, stamina, and agility, and maybe a few others. Civlians could have other ones.
To increase your stats as a soldier, you'd have to do workouts (In-game and IRL). For Civilian, I'm not certain as of this time.
Regarding Economy, you would be able to acquire money based on your position, or the sale of goods. Food and drink is required to be consumed, and same with sleep. Certain conditions in the game could make it so they drain faster or slower, and you would possibly have to fight infections and diseases.
If you have any ideas to add or remove, let me know!
