My friend got the latest Bamboo Kingdom book, The Dark Sun, early and pointed out that the book was unusually short compared to other books. This prompted me to check the upcoming books and it's not looking great.
So, The Dark Sun is listed at 256 pages, but a bunch of these is ads, special thanks, a map, etc, the story is just 242 pages long.
The Lightning Path seems to have the exact same page count at 256 pages, so we can expect ~240 pages worth of story.
That's still nothing compared to Breakers of the Code - the page count on all sites says 208 pages. With around of dozen of them being used for ads and other things, it's probably only going to have ~190 pages of story and that's really disappointing. It's going to be the shortest Erin Hunter book by a big margin and the first one not to make it even to 200 pages. And no, it's still going to cost full price.
It really just feels cheap. And it's too bad, because I was really engrossed in the story of Thunder on the Plains and wanted to see more of the characters, more of how the plot is going to develop and more of Bravelands lore but we're really getting a tiny overcosted book.
I'm super disappointed.

I really need to catch up on Bravelands and I haven't even read BK yet, but yikes, that sounds terrible! For a novel, 190 pages is tiny!
