(Well, it's the closest you can get to having a wolf for a pet. Maaan I wish I had one, but the weather's too hot here. :'))
(EDIT: I'm going to bed now, see you guys in several hours or so. Baiii. If Hawkwing is freezing the roleplay just help me control him a little. Thanks!)
Hawkwing halted in his pawsteps, stunned by the sudden appearance of Silverlake. Why is she here?
"Why are you following me?" he questioned, trying not to sound annoyed as he turned around and began to walk again, in the direction of Silver Lake. The last thing he needed was some cat who couldn't catch up with his pace. He would have to wait for them from time to time, and that was a hindrance to his rounds.

Mosspaw gave Dawnstar a quick nod, opening their jaws in a yawn. They picked up their pace, trotting to the entrance was it was in sight. They cast a glance back at Dawnstar -- "Beat you!" -- before ducking into camp. They were met with the faces of their fathers, they had waited to see their kit come home well, of course they trusted Dawnstar, but this was their kit.
Bramblethorn rose from where he was sitting, giving Mosspaw's head a few quick licks. "I'll take it that it went well?" He asked in his rumbling meow as his mate approached, purring lightly. Duststep gave Mosspaw's flank a few licks, trying to clear off the splashes of water.

"I had nothing better to do," Silverlake responded, quickly trotting up to Hawkwing and matching his pace. In reality the tom had interested her unlike many had before. He was different in some way and that made Silverlake curious. "I'm not being a bother, am I?"

(Morning everyone!)
"Ah, no," Hawkwing muttered, his focus shifting to his paws as he tried not to slip. The she-cat was matching him paw for paw now. He gradually increased his speed, almost breaking into a run. "It's just that I go quite fast, and you have to catch up, if not you'll be left behind."
Feeling the muscles in his legs loosen, he began to run, his long tail moving rhythmically. He kept to one side of the path that was shaded by the trees, where the ground wasn't slippery.

[ morning ! i mean it's 10 pm here but still. cx ]
Silverlake teeth showed as her lips curled into a smile. "Me? Left behind? Then you haven't seen me run!" She yowled as she chased after Hawkwing. Breathing began to become difficult as she sprinted through the forest with the tom. He does run quite fast. She thought, beginning to lose herself to her wandering mind. As a large stone appeared in front of her, Silverlake narrowly dodged it. Putting on a burst of speed she shortened the distance between her and Hawkwing that had formed while she was lost in her thoughts.

Lost in the enjoyable experience of the run, Hawkwing accelerated into his full speed. He charged towards a group of boulders and rocks and nimbly jumped from one to another. His breath grew heavier- it wasn't easy to breathe in the cold morning air.
As he leapt from the final boulder onto the ground, he slowed down in an effort to cool off and head back to camp.

Silverlake let out a sigh of relief as Hawkwing slowed down. Trotting up to his side, she began to purr. "You are a very fast runner," She complimented, touching her tail to his side for a moment.

(Naw don't worry bout it!)
"Thanks," Hawkwing caught his breath quickly as he entered the camp. She matched my pace well.
"You're not too bad yourself." he added, tapping Silverlake's shoulder with his tail-tip.
His ears perked once more as he spotted Dawnstar, Bramblethorn, Duststep and Mosspaw. Padding up to the group, he dipped his head in greeting. "I take it that your journey went well?" he asked, giving his paws a few licks as he sauntered past them and stopped a few tail-lengths away. His blue gaze rested on Mosspaw, who looked especially exhausted.

Silverlake smiled with delight at Hawkwing's praise. Trotting up next to Hawkwing, she waved her tail in greeting to the group of cats before them. "Hello Bramblethorn, Duststep." She purred, swiping her paw across her ear.

(Yo Dawn! Updating this so it's easier for you.)
(Thunder, can I make Dewpaw Silverlake's kin? Since they're both silver tabbies and such. x'))
Name | Emberkit Gender | Tom Rank | Kit Appearance | Emberkit is a tortoiseshell tom, with his fur being mainly black with ginger splotches. All his paws are black, except for his front right one. He has markings on his defined face, with the ginger fur tracing the top of his eyes and his muzzle. The ginger fur also rings his tail. He has his father's striking gold eyes and his mother's sleek pelt. Personality | You could say that Emberkit is the opposite of Foxkit. He as a healthy self-esteem, a bright personality and an unquenchable thirst for adventure. Despite their differences, Emberkit is very close to Foxkit and is always there to lend a paw. He also shares Foxkit's natural curiousity- in a less passive way, which often gets him into trouble. Kin | Alderpatch, Sparrowflight, Foxkit Mate/Crush | - Other | -
Name | Dewpaw Gender | Tom Rank | Apprentice Appearance | Dewpaw is a handsome, pale grey tabby tom with bright, green eyes. He is small-framed and friendly-looking. His tail and paws are white-tipped, and he also has a white leaf-shaped marking on his chest. His white markings fade into his pelt. Personality | Dewpaw is known for his intelligence and wit, but also for his laziness. He dislikes paw-to-paw fighting because of his small frame, and would rather resort to playing dirty tricks to gain the upper hand. He rarely panics- only something unexpected or not in accordance with his plans happens. He loves to nap. He dislikes close-mindedness and pettiness. Some might doubt his loyalty to his clan because of his tendency to challenge the code and his lack of passion in routine duties. But when it's truly important to him, Dewpaw would rise to his paws faster than any cat. Kin | - Mate/Crush | - Other | -

(Thanks Dawn! :^D)
Hawkwing noticed Dawnstar's uneasiness, but kept mum about it.
"You should take a rest," he suggested, looking at the ceiling of the large cavern. The complex rock formation that formed the camp had amazed him as a kit. He remembered Echostar, the leader before Dawnstar. Her unusually red eyes used to weird him out.

Acornpaw and Applepaw emerged after -- galloping over to greet their sibling, still a bit jealous Mosspaw got to go but they didn't. With an amused purr Duststep and Bramblethorn caught each other's eye before looking over their kits. With that Bramblethorn stepped away, moving to approach Dawnstar, though he hung back when he saw there were other cats gathering around her. So he sat himself down close enough to be waiting to speak with her but not too close as to bother anyone.
"You look exhausted," Duststep mrrowed with a laugh, wrapping his tail around Mosspaw's shoulders. "Though I'll expect it was worth it."

Dewpaw sleepily emerged from the apprentices' den. What's with all this commotion?
He spotted his clanmates surrounding Dawnstar, with the warriors towering over the small she-cat. Padding over to join Hawkwing, he stifled a yawn, leaning on the tom's side in his morning drowsiness. "I could sleep for another moon," he purred.
Hawkwing, startled by the sudden furball leaning on him, turned and tilted his head downwards to see the apprentice. "You slept early last night," he stated, slightly amused by the apprentice's love for sleep. He gently gave Dewpaw a push with his paw, causing him to sit upright. "Show some respect for our leader."
Dewpaw nodded blanky, staring into blank space.

(sorry im here now!) Dawnstar managed a smile. "I would love to, but--" she had noticed Bramblethorn lingering outside of the small group around her-- "there's still stuff I should do before then." Our leader. It felt a bit more natural to hear someone else say it, albeit still strange and new. But maybe falling into the role wouldn't be as hard as her thoughts were making it out to be.
At the mention of food Dawnstar's belly seemed to react rather loudly and she quickly licked at her chest fur. She hadn't eaten since long before the trip, as was tradition, and she gave a nod in reply to Silverlake. "Oh, yes please," she mewed.
Tumblefoot skirted around the other cats to approach Duststep, Mosspaw and their siblings, though she was still able to keep an eye on Dawnstar to make sure she didn't completely overdo it. "They handled themself very well," the medicine cat meowed while flashing Mosspaw a praising smile.

(Yo! Are you going to state that Silverlake has a thing for Hawkwing?)
When he heard Dawnstar's reply, Hawkwing turned to face Silverlake. "Well, I guess we'll go hunt," he mewed and rose to his paws and padded past the she-cat, towards the entrance of the camp. He started thinking of where to hunt, his ears twitching as he did.
Dewpaw watched as the warrior got further and further, then scanned the camp for his mentor, Sandyclaw. Perhaps if I join their hunt, I could dodge my apprentice duties.

[ !! its a good thing to know sandyclaw mentors dewpaw c': ]
Purring in delight that Hawkwing was joining her, Silverlake trotted towards the entrance of camp. "Where should we hunt?" She meowed. I hate this feeling in my chest. Silverlake thought, making a face as she did so. It's all warm and bright and... maybe I should go see the medicine cat when we get back from hunting. With a newfound plan, the she-cat stood straighter and was able to ignore the uncomfortable feeling. As she looked at Hawkwing to hear his response, she felt a flutter in her chest. Oh no. It can't be. I can't have feelings for a cat! Quickly, she looked away from Hawkwing and back into the forest.
"Thinking about leaving with them so you don't have to deal with me? I don't think so." Sandyclaw meowed, standing right behind Dewpaw. I don't think he noticed me come up behind him. That should give him a good startle.

Hawkwing's mind was focused on one thing- to catch as much fresh-kill as he could to feed the clan. He stopped abruptly a few tail-lengths away from the camp's entrance, his whiskers twitching as he picked up the scent of a mouse. Perking his large ears, he could hear the sound of something scratching the ground, just behind a few bushes.
Dropping into a crouch, he approached the shrub carefully. Feeling his paws heat up as he gathered energy in his leg muscles, he pounced, feeling the cold air in his face as he sailed over the bushes. His blue eyes caught the silhouette of the mouse, who seemed to have noticed its impending doom and was preparing to escape.
Too late.
A few heartbeats later,, Hawkwing emerged from the bushes, his fur slightly ruffled, with the limp body of the mouse dangling from his jaws. A good catch to begin the hunt, he thought gleefully as he prepared to bury the mouse.
--
Dewpaw remained still as he heard Sandyclaw's voice. "You're well-trained in foiling others' plans," he sighed as he turned to face the large tom. There was clear disinterest and boredom in the apprentice's tone. "What are we doing today?"

"Nice catch!" Silverlake purred, her mind clearly disturbed by other thoughts. Shaking off the extra thoughts, she sniffed the air. Catching the scent of a bird, she dropped into a crouch. Slowly she padded forward and was careful not to step on any broken branches and twigs. Around a tree a large crow stood pecking the ground. Its interest was clearly on whatever he was doing so Silverlake could tell this would be an easy catch. Slinking forward she leaped. I can't miss this. I can't embarrass myself. Those thoughts took Silverlake's mind away from the hunt and she landed with a huff a tail-length away from her catch. As the large bird flew upward, she managed to snag it by the tail feathers. As messy of a catch as it was, she was proud of it. With a quick bite to the neck, she trotted towards Hawkwing. I sure hope he didn't see my initial failure.
"Ah, but I had plans myself. You were trying to foil those." Sandyclaw said calmly. With a flick of his ear, he considered reprimanding his apprentice for attitude. Where would that get me? We would both be in a worse mood then. Besides, he will just have to work extra hard today. With a quick smile, he nodded towards the entrance to the camp. "Well first I want to patrol the borders and make sure you know them well. Then I want you taking care of the elders. Later we will go out for some hunting practice. Sound good?" Sandyclaw asked, laughing on the inside. He had his ways of making troublesome apprentices become less aggravating.

"Thanks," Hawkwing replied, burying the mouse. He sniffed the air once more, but the scent of prey was rather faint. He scanned his surroundings, unconsciously moving deeper into the territory. When he remembered that Silverlake was with him, he spun around and caught the she-cat trotting towards him with a large crow in her jaws.
"That's huge," he commented, awed at the crow's size. He looked at Silverlake in the eye. "I'm surprised you even managed to fit that in your mouth."
Purring in amusement, he continued in the direction of the Moss Pit. His throat was dry- he hadn't had any water since the morning. I could get some water from the stream there. I hope the ice has melted. Excited at the thought of drinking fresh, cold water, he began to walk faster.
--
Dewpaw didn't attempt to think of a comeback. If it's one thing I hate more than getting outwitted, it's probably a lecture.
"Out of the three," Dewpaw began,, his tail-tip twitching in annoyance. "The border patrol seems the most worthwhile-"
The apprentice inhaled deeply and got on his paws, slowly moving away from his mentor's shadow, towards the camp's entrance. "-but I don't have a choice, right?" So let's hurry and get it over with so that I can nap once I'm done.

[ my posts probably won't be as long. I have to use my phone for now ]
Silverlake purred at Hawkwing's praise. "I was actually lucky to get it." She admitted, burying her prey so she could get it later. "My mind seems to be everywhere today." The she-cat meowed, padding beside Hawkwing.
"If you want you could just take care of the elders for a few days?" Sandyclaw suggested, narrowing his eyes at his apprentice. "I hope you know I will not tolerate an attitude. Caring for the elders is just as important as border patrols. One day you'll be thankful to the apprentices when they care for you." He growled, looking down on his apprentice.

Mosspaw raised their head to look at Tumblefoot, feeling their skin grow warm under their pelt. They licked at their chest fur, though a smile crossed their jaw. Duststep purred, glancing down at his kit before looking back to the medicine cat, a relieved look on their face. "That's great to hear," he mewed to her. Mosspaw was always a bit more rambunctious, more so than their siblings who were both more quiet and reserved. He wouldn't be surprised if Mosspaw had been a bit of a complainer on the trip but it was good to hear that they were beginning to mellow out.

"Well, what's bothering you?" Hawkwing asked, his mind occupied as he began to stalk towards a tree. There's another mouse somewhere here. He stopped abruptly as he heard the sound of the rodent scampering away.
Tilting his head sideways in disappointment, he frowned and padded back to the she-cat.
--
Dewpaw's ears flattened as Sandyclaw began his lecture. "Alright, alright, loosen up a little," he mumbled. It's not like the elders are completely helpless. Oakclaw could send me flying out of the den with a swipe of his paw if he wanted to.

Silverlake watched as Hawkwing walked away right after asking her a question. Ugh. Toms. She thought in amusement. This is one of the reasons I haven't taken a mate. As Hawkwing began to walk back towards her, she decided she wouldn't tell him too much. "Just confusing feelings." Silverlake meowed carefully, refusing to look at the tom.
Abruptly Sandyclaw began to purr. "Ah, I was just like you as an apprentice. Shocking, I know." He flicked his tail and began walking towards the entrance. "Now come on. The borders aren't going to protect themselves."
