Quickwing hurried after the apprentice. She was quiet as they moved through the twolegplace but after a while she picked up the faint scent of clancats. “I think we are getting close!” She meowed quietly. “Be on your guard.” She warned the patrol.

“A twoleg saved your life…” Nettle mused with inquisitive eyes, stunned by the realization. Clan life taught kits to reject any notion of a kittypet’s life, that twolegs could not ever be trusted. And yet, it was twolegs that saved this kittypet, not a loner or rouge, or certainly a Clan cat. Nettle found himself warmed by the tale. “I’m glad that you found your way to your twoleg, then. If you’ve been happy, then that’s all that matters, right?” He grinned, before asking. “Hey. Uh. What’s your name?” Captain purred briefly, always happy to boast about how wonderful his housefolk was. "My name's Captain. And yours?" “Nettlest-“ Nettle cut himself off, the instinct to use his old name strong. Even so, the desire to change it was stronger. He corrected himself. “Nettle. My name’s Nettle. Like that plant that makes you itchy if you roll on it.” He humored, nodding. “Nice to meet you, Captain. Nice to meet any friendly cat out here, really. I’m already liking it here.”

Skystorm looked nervous the further they got into the twolegplace. "This is nowhere near where Silvercloud took me on that first patrol." She wrinkled her nose as the stench of monsters and grime started to fill the air. "I don't know how we're going to track anything through this!"

Emberpaw bristled with frustration. “It smells like the scents are coming from all different directions! How can anyone live in a place like this, I can hardly track anything!” She looked around desperately, trying to decipher which Clan cats she scented with Quickwing.

Nice to meet you, son," Captain flicked his tail at the younger tom in a friendly way. "This town's full of friendly faces if you know where to look. Just avoid those brutes in the gangs and you'll be all right." He tilted his head. "You're new here, then? Where are you from?"

"It's this way, I know it is!" Hawkpaw mewed, glancing over her shoulder at the others. Her tail lashed as she picked up her pace, not wanting to lose the faint scent. "I... I recognize some of this place, we're nearly there, I promise." She added, turning her attention back onto the path ahead of her.

Even so, he did relish in the words, and chuckled. “Avoid the gangs, got it. I’m… ah, from…” He hesitated, before he shrugged. “Nowhere special. Beyond here.” For now, he wanted to hide his Clan cat status, at least until he knew telling Captain wouldn’t cause the tom to be spooked.

Quickwing’s senses were overwhelmed by all the different smells. She could only faintly pick up the patrol from earlier. Starclan this was going to be impossible! “Keep going Hawkpaw.” She encouraged. Hopefully they’d find the spot.

If you need a place to stay, my yard here's just fine; just don't dig up the garden!" he added with a laugh. Captain's housefolk emerged from the open door, letting out a sound of surprise as she saw Nettle sitting on the table with Captain. She approached cautiously, as if not to spook the newcomer. "I'll warn you, she will try to pet you if you stay up here with me. She's a little over-eager," he said. "She won't hurt you, though."

He quickly steeled himself, stubbornly wanting to chip away at the teachings that he felt made him ignorant to other cats’ lives. So, he bravely lifted his chin and decided. “She can uh. Pet me? That’s what they do, right, with their paws? I’m not scared of anything, let alone a twoleg nice enough to save you. But uh. I won’t get picked up, I’m content not being cooped up in a nest, personally. Though, it suits you well, Captain.” He chuckled, before loosening up and letting the twoleg come closer.

Jadefeather watched closely over Whitesun, though her attention was drawn to the prey that Revy brought. She quickly accepted the pigeon, looking sheepishly at Arcticbreeze, who had accepted the rat. She shook her head, reminding herself not to be picky. She humored a bit at Arcticbreeze's strong remarks. That was the kind of attitude that would work surprisingly well around here, headstrong and sharp. Revy looked at Arcticbreeze with a simple smile, humored by her anger. He knew they would be crabby of course, but it was also rather delightful to see as well. He flicked his tail leisurely. "Oh my dear sister, around here, my work is never done. Don't worry. When I leave in a moment, you won't be alone. There will always be eyes on you, just to keep you safe." He mewed smoothly, turning then to nimbly leap up the steel bars and look down with a curling smile. "Rest well. I want to see all you can offer tomorrow." He slipped into the shadows like a ghost, as Azalea took up one of the posts, peering down at the Clan cats in silence. Axel glanced at Obsidian, knowing that even if he wanted to feed Blizzard's desire to go on more patrols, Obsidian would never let him hear the end of it. He respected her too much to anger her, and so he mewed gruffly. "Your mother says rest, you do it, got it? I might need you for far more work tomorrow, and you'll need all your energy." Shadow silently dipped his head, quickly slipping over to his favorite spot to sleep, right up on top of one of the factory's internal balconies connected by some metal stairs. He liked looking out over the factory, eyeing the weeds and sunlight that broke through to give it a natural yet twoleg-made look. --- Sable waited until they had returned to the junkyard before finally placing his pile down and cuffing Kyra's ear gently. "One question at a time, got it? Hmph. I have to teach you to be as good as me because I'm old and could die any moon. I've treated dozens of injuries because you all are brutes with eachother, and the worst one I've seen was when a cat got glass stuck in his eye. Needless to say, he became a one-eyed cat that day." He answered bluntly, not one to beat around the bush. "But they're just so fun to mess with." Jax snorted sarcastically, before he stilled and lifted his muzzle. "Yep. That's a new one. Doesn't smell funny like kittypets do, and I can tell they're new since they've got such a strong scent coming downwind. Not even trying to hide it." He grinned. "Probably a young one. Easy recruiting, let's give it a go." He waved his tail, stealthily following the scent. Arcticbreeze sent another glare at Revy's retreating back before she started to bite into the rat, her tail still lashing behind her in anger. Blizzard sighed and stood to his paws, giving a small dip of his head before he padded away. As disappointed as he was, Blizzard knew better than to argue with his father. Nightmare gave a small flick of her ear and quickly slipped away from her parents, heading for the darkest part of the factory where she had made her nest. Obsidian watched as her kits left to go rest before she turned to Axel, pride for her kits clearly shining in her eyes, "It's hard to believe how much they've grown. It feels like just yesterday when they were so small." She purred, pressing her nose against his cheek briefly. ------------------ Kyra giggled when Sable cuffed her ear, quickly setting her own pile down next to his and looked back up at him, "You're not that old, Sable. I bet you'll live forever!" She purred, her tail waving behind her. "How did that cat get glass in his eye? What was he doing?" Skyla followed after Jax, her paws padding silently as she walked. "So we just go in nice and easy? How do you plan on recruiting this one?" She asked quietly. Asha lifted her head, thinking that she had heard something further down the alley. She narrowed her eyes, standing protectively over her catch. Asha wasn't about to let some other cat try and steal her hard earned catch from her, so she quickly picked the rat up and started making her way down the alley. She would eat her prey once she was somewhere safe.

Brightsky looked around the twolegplace uneasily, twitching her tail back and forth. The tall buildings and the distant sound of monsters kind of freaked her out, but she didn't want the rest of the patrol to see. "You got this Hawkpaw" Brightsky said, adding her encouragement to hopefully keep them moving.

She mewed in a high pitched tone at the two of them. "Not so bad, right?" He asked. "She's asking if we're friends. And if you're hungry," he translated. "We've only just met, and he had a bird earlier, thanks." Captain stretched, pressing his round belly to the table. "Well, Nettle, it was lovely to meet you. This old cat's gotta sleep, but feel free to shelter in our yard tonight, and come by anytime, you hear? Whether for a place to sleep, a bite to eat, or for another story."

"I'm so sorry about all this, Arcticbreeze. I never wanted any of this to ever reach the Clans. I had hoped that Axel's hate for them would have kept that barrier up forever, but..." She closed her eyes. "Zarina is the name of the she-cat who birthed me, and most likely you. It makes sense that she would have dropped you off without remorse. She was always flippant, independent, never wanted to be held back by anything, even her own kits." She mewed bitterly, before she admitted. "We found much better homes and cats to love in the Clans though, you and I. For that, I'm glad that you had such a wonderful mother in Thunderclan." Revy watched his younger sibling pad off to rest, his eyes trailing after Nightmare. He slipped towards her sleeping corner, the shadows covering him nearly fully. He mewed, light yet honest. "Before you sleep, Nightmare, I want to know how you felt about accompanying such an important assignment with me." He inquired. Axel turned his head to accept her affections with a gruff rumble, though his words were gentle as he addressed his beloved mate. "They've impressed me more than most kits I have. Though, I attribute that to their mother." He rumbled, smirking. "Powerful, elegant, brilliant. Everything a cat could ask for, you have. You have given us exceptional kits." --- "Yeah yeah." Sable shook the compliment off, before he scoffed. "The old fool was trying to chase down a little kittypet, and she tricked him into jumping right into a bag of trash. Landed muzzle first and the glass got him right in the eye. Wailed so hard the entire city could hear him. He was lucky I was around." He huffed. "Newcomers need slowness, welcoming." Jax reminded, relaxing completely as he grinned. "Act casual, and natural. We don't want to spook her off. Ah, I can hear her now." He turned his head to where he could see Asha's dark fur. Jax nodded for Skyla to follow his lead as he called calmly. "Oi! Sorry to spook you over there, we aren't gonna take your catch. You new around here?" He asked, padding closer to Asha before stopping and sitting right under one of the street lamps.

Nettle was surprised by how nice it felt to be pet by the twoleg. She did something with her paws that felt exceptionally good around his ears, like a gentle clawing that drew no blood or gave no pain. Twolegs were fascinating! He stepped back when the twoleg moved her paw away, though he looked at Captain and chuckled. "I'll keep that in mind. I'm going to keep exploring for now and sleep in one of the trees, probably. I prefer being somewhere high up. But, I'll visit again for sure. Keep a lookout for me, Captain!" He quickly turned to leap back up the fence, looking down kindly at the new friend he had made.

The enfolding blackness of unconsciousness slowly lifted, like mist burning away with the morning light. The blood-red light of the sunset had faded into a gray twilight. Warblerwind's eyes, half-open, struggled to focus, and his thoughts tumbled around sluggishly in his head. His hindquarters were numb with cold where they trailed in the water, and he ached all over. Haltingly, he pushed himself up onto his forelegs, shaking his head to clear it and immediately regretting doing so. He stumbled to his feet and retched up several mouthfuls of dark water, his head swimming.
Where am I? What...?
He was standing unsteadily on a strange, smooth bank of stone where the river flowed through a gully between two Thunderpaths. A bridge arched overhead a few fox-lengths upstream, and monsters rumbled past with their eye beams illuminating the dusk. Straight trees glowed with unnatural orange light, blotting out the stars. He must have been brought into the Twolegplace by the current.
His memories began to slowly fall into place. He remembered the confrontation with Robinstar, possessing Spiritstar's body, on the Jagged Drop, the cold shock of the swollen stream below, and the expression on Spiritstar's face as she was finally allowed back into her own body, only to see what he'd done. A cold realization struck him harder than any claws could, tearing at his heart. She was dead, and he'd survived.
He wasn't supposed to survive!
"No," he whispered hoarsely. "No, no, no!" His yowl rose, lanced with pain and regret as he frayed his claws against the stone where he stood. "It should have been me! I shouldn't be here!"
Overcome with grief and regret, he tore at the ground and at his own pelt, growling and cursing until he collapsed with his nose on his paws, panting and scratched and defeated.
"I'm sorry," he croaked. "Oh, Spiritstar...mother...I'm so, so sorry."
He fell still, trapped in his thoughts. He eventually sat upright. Far away, in the forest, his Clan would be sitting vigil for his mother and Silvercloud, and scorning his name as a traitor. The least he could do would be to honor them as a warrior should. He turned his face to the blank sky as he began his own vigil. He wondered if StarClan could see him here.
He wondered if they'd even want to.

Patrick slipped out of his cat door and into his garden with a hum, the sleek gray tom careful not to catch his new bandana his twolegs had gotten him on the door frame. He surveyed the fresh lawn, pleased to see some of his herbs sprouting from the garden bed the twolegs kept. He would have to see if he could get a message to Magnolia soon to see if she needed any fresh supplies. The tom settled underneath the canopy on the deck, tail waving lazily behind him as he watched the birds peck at the bird feeder in the tree nearby.
~~
Suki yelped as Felix leapt onto her back with a mighty roar, her son's needle-like claws digging into her spine. "Felix! You're too big to be doing that now." she scolded lightly. Shaking her pelt to try and detatch him.
Felix giggled but dropped from his mother's back, pressing against her leg gently. "Sorry Mama. I'll be gentle next time."
Remi rolled around nearby, playing with a new trinket that Indigo had brought back recently. It was shiny and round, and rolled perfectly! It was much better than a mossball.

Nettle watched Captain for a moment. For some reason, he felt a strong pull to the tom, as though he had known him for many moons. The way he talked, the energy in his stories, it made Nettle feel more at ease then he'd felt in a long time. He took a long breath, determined now to begin his search of Twolegplace, and hopefully find out who his father was. Surely, it had to be a loner or rouge, or at least one the other loners and rogues would know. He'd start there, first thing in the morning. For now, he knew he could easily find a place to sleep in one of the trees around here.
---
Lacey was carefully grooming her fur, seeming rather disdained to be outside of the house. The warming days were not kind to her fur, and she hated all the pebbles and leaves and dust that clung to her. She watched Felix and Remi playing with their mother, though she was content staying on the clean concrete of the old twolegnest's front.
Indigo seemed a bit bothered as he returned to the fence, leaping over it and back down into the yard. He eyed Suki, eyes warming at the sight of her playing with their kits. He pushed his concern for the possibility of his wayward littermate being spotted in the city away, instead focusing on his family as he placed down the squirrel he was holding. "Eat before it gets cold." He offered.

Suki sensed her mate's unease but didn't mention it as she came to his side to greet him, pressing her muzzle against his. Her eyes flashed though as she pulled back, a silent We'll talk later relayed to her mate.
Felix's eyes lit up as Indigo approached, he loved trying the new prey that his parents brought for him to try. "Thank you!" he mewed politely before taking a first bite with a purr.
Remi stood, but looked side to side with distress. "Papa, where can I keep this? I don't want it to get lost!" she exclaimed eyes wide. Her paw curled protectively around the marble.

He quickly moved to inspect the marble, before he relaxed and humored. "Oh, one of these! The twolegs like to play games with these pebbles, you know? I myself played with these alot when I was your age. The best way to keep them from rolling away is to put it in a small pile of moss when you're done playing with it. And never, ever eat it. You understand?" He reminded gently yet firmly. Lacey looked curiously at the mention of twolegs, a part of her growing more and more curious about them. A few kittypets that passed by often liked to lounge out and relax near the fences, and Lacey marveled at their pretty coats, large bellies, and flawless features. Their twolegs seemed to love them and spoil them. She wanted that, to be taken care of and spoiled, and not have to hunt or get dirty in the mud.

Terror leaped up onto her housefolk's garden fence and stretched, staring around she tried to spot one of her friends that lived nearby.
Shepherd woke tierdly from his haybale, he stared around for Stella, wondering were she had slept for the night.
