"This isn't about Swiftflight being useless, or even three-pawed," Redheart snapped at the apprentice. Swiftflight was facing his fears, and she wasn't going to get in his way. "Besides, we aren't supposed to fight the fox. Just chase it out, which Swiftflight can do."

Swiftflight turned to look back at Redheart then nodded. "Yes," he answered firmly, thankful she hadn't turned him down because of Twistedpaw. Though his mind told him not to be so mousebrained and stay at camp where it was safe, his heart told him he had to do this, to make up for what he had done, to be a brave warrior. Loyalty to his clan was the most important thing in the tom's mind, and by being scared of the fox before, he felt he had wavered in that loyalty. It would not happen again.
Since we seem a bit short-pawed, i can make another warrior if you want me to. Kinda want to anyways)

(it's ok Emp! I was gone for a bit too, no worries. I hope your moving goes smoothly! :o Right now, Troutstar has just announced that there's been a fox in the territory - on Redheart's hunting patrol, a few cats got bitten - and he's said that any volunteers for the patrol should speak to her. I'm close to picking a new deputy but not sure who it should be just yet. xD)
Edit: Redheart nodded at Swiftflight. She was surprised he had offered to join the patrol, even after being injured. It was a sure sign that he did want to overcome his shortcomings. But if he botched this patrol, too, Redheart knew she couldn't put in a good word for him for Troutstar. She was, however, worried that he wouldn't be able to keep up, or the fox would hurt him. I won't let that happen. I can't.

[okay cool, thanks :3]
Antpaw had been listening to Troutstar and his eyes lit up. He rushed up to Redheart and looked at her with pleading eyes. "Please can I go? Please Redheart, this will be my first fight in a long time, and I need to practice my fighting skills." He pleaded. "I cleaned all the dens and brought prey to those who needed it!" He added.

Whitethorn | Warrior | Searipple101 This larger she-cat is pure white in color with a long, fluffy coat and deep amber eyes. Her paws are rather large, and unusually long claws accompany them, attributing to the 'thorn' in her name, as they may remind some of sharp thorns. Her personality is quite gentle and kind despite her looks. She prefers to be encouraging and helpful, but she will defend her clan fiercely.
Swiftflight was grateful to Redheart for her support, and he waited for others to join the patrol. He only prayed to StarClan that he wouldn't mess up this time if something happened with the fox. He only wanted to be a loyal warrior. Anticipation pricked at his paws, and the end of his half-tail tingled at the very thought of facing a fox again. I will not run this time. I can't...

Redheart sighed. "We're not fighting, Antpaw. But yes, you can go." The deputy looked at her apprentice. "Initiating a fight with a fox is not the right way to handle things. We're just chasing it away, unless it's made a den." Redheart prayed to Starclan that there would be no den.

Is Whitethorn accepted? And may she attend the patrol?)
Swiftflight rolled his eyes at the young apprentice. Why was it that apprentices always wanted to jump into a fight? It seemed that way to him, at least. Honestly, he was always more into hunting since he could use his speed and agility more for that while chasing after quick prey. Still, he said nothing to the apprentice. He wasn't his apprentice.

Antpaw sighed, but even still his whiskers twitched with excitement. "Thank you thank you!" He half meowed, half purred. After cleaning nests all day, he was itching to go out of camp, and chasing off a fox was more than he could've hoped for. Looking around camp, he noticed Raggedstrike looking at him, almost as if he was longing to join as well. Antpaw flicked his tail for him to offer to join. The older warrior had helped the apprentice out throughout the day, which caused him to form a small bond with him, which urged him even more to offer to join, but Raggedstrike just shook his head and began cleaning his fur. The dark tom knew that joining the patrol would help him get on Troutstars good side to possibly be appointed deputy, but he also knew that he was more of a fighter than anything. He'd probably be useless if he went, so he decided not to.

(oh yes of course! Sorry I didn't say it earlier lol)
Redheart looked at her patrol - two whole cats, one injured and one an apprentice. She sighed. "We'll need more cats than just us." And Troutstar can't come with us either. He wouldn't be able to keep up, and what if things got nasty?
(Emp, do you have any more cats other than Raggedstrike available? ;o )

yes actually! I haven't used Splashberry at all yet i dont think, so she can join ^^
Splashberry looked at the patrol, which looked almost pitiful to chase off a fox. With her boundless energy, she knew she'd be a good asset for them. Standing up and shaking out her fur, she walked, almost pranced, over to the cats. "I'll help as well." She meowed, dipping her head in respect to the deputy.

"Thank you, Splashberry." Redhearted mewed to the she-cat. Now... three warriors, including herself, and an apprentice. She was concerned taking so few with her, especially with Swiftflight already hurt. But they should act now, before the scent went too stale. Sighing, Redheart meowed, "We'll wait for just one more cat. But then we have to leave immediately."

"And I'll come, too," Whitethorn pipped up, padding over as well, her plumy tail in the air. "If it's to drive out a fox and not a stealth mission, I know I can be of use." With her pure white coat and being as big as she was, not to mention all that fur, stealth wasn't her thing unless it was the dead of learbare, but driving out a fox she could definitely do.
"I think we have enough then," Swiftflight said quietly. He thought that this would do do drive out one fox - assuming it was only one, after all. Besides, some warriors still needed to stay behind at camp to defend it in case anything happened here.

Antpaw's ears pricked. "Well then let's go!" He meowed excitedly. He'd never seen a fox before, and from the stories he's heard he knew they were vicious, but that doesn't mean he couldn't wait to brag to the younger apprentices. Splashberry's tail flicked slightly in anticipation. She was excited for a good chase, but contained it so she didn't look like the antsy Antpaw. She couldn't help but smile as she watched his whiskers twitch and paws fidget, since it reminded her of her own apprentice days, and her first fox chase.

"Thank you Whitethorn. We should go before the scent gets stale." Her yellow eyes flashed to Swiftflight. "Try not to lag behind." The deputy turned and waved her tail high in the air, indicating for the others to follow as she made her way out of camp.

Swiftflight gave a curt nod of acknowledgement and followed, limping behind the deputy, though he did his best not to teeter. He would do this, he could. He kept his tail low but head high, not going to show anymore weakness. However, his mind still internally screamed for him to change his mind and not go.
Whitethorn followed along as well, taking up more of the rear, her tail high in the air with delight. She loved to go on patrols and be helpful when she could, since hunting didn't always work out so well for her; anything with stealth was hard. But now, she was happy to tag along. Something nagged her a little, though, but she couldn't figure out what. She looked behind her as they exited camp, but what was she looking for? Nothing seemed to jump out at her...

Redheart looked over her shoulder. "Come on. No lollygagging." She demanded, and sped up her pace to a trot, towards Founder's Field where they had seen the fox. The deputy did not see the medicine cat apprentice following her patrol.

Antpaw walked just behind Redheart, sticking close to his mentor. Although sometimes he got frustrated by her, they did still have a mentor-apprentice bond. His claws dug in the earth as he walked, as if the fox would jump out and attack them at any second. Splashberry stayed in the middle of the patrol, following just behind Antpaw. She watched the apprentice dig his claws in the ground and his tail flick every so slightly. With a small smile, she kept her head high and walked on.

"Sorry," Whitethorn mewed and picked up the pace a little to keep up with the patrol, though she kept glancing over her shoulder from time to time. it felt like something really was off, like if she kept looking back she'd figure out what it was. But, there was never anything there that she noticed with her quick glances.
Swiftflight struggled a little on three paws, but he managed to keep with the group and not fall to the read of the patrol either. So long as he didn't stumble too much and accidentally place his paw on the ground, it wasn't so bad. He still hated being incapacitated like this nevertheless.

It didn't take Redheart's patrol long to reach the nearby Founder's Field. Redheart sniffed her way through the grass. "Fan out," she told her patrol. "And look for the fox scent. It should be mixed with mine, Swiftflight's, and Talonscar's."

Only if you want her to, sweetclover. That's your choice. I'm just trying to make sure you aren't really rping by yourself :3)
Swiftflight broke off from the patrol, but stayed near Splashberry. He knew it would be a bad idea for him to go alone anywhere right now, especially so close to where the fox fight had taken place while it could still be around. He stayed near the other warrior, not super close, but close enough that if anything happened he would have back up right there in an instant.
Whitethorn went off by herself at an angle from the direction the fox had fled. She sniffed along the ground but wasn't close enough to the trail to pick up the scent. Unlike before, she kept her head and tail low now, parting her jaws to better search, but coming up with nothing. "Not over here," she reported so other warriors didn't waste their time in her area.

Splashberry dipped her head briefly to Swiftflight before lowering her head to the ground and opening her jaws to taste the air. It seemed the fox had been here, but only briefly and the scent was stale. It may have only run past here, and she doubted it would be in this area. Shaking her head, she slowly walked on.
Antpaw, being the egotistical apprentice he was, decided to go to his own area, sniffing the ground and tasting the air. He could scent the warriors that had been here before strongly, and at first didn't catch a single whiff of fox scent. Then, opening his mouth a bit wider, it hit him. He wasn't really sure if it was fresh or stale, since tracking isn't exactly his forte, so he whipped his head around, looking for a warrior to help him.
